“GM offers financing to subprime buyers. In an effort to boost sales, the automaker targets buyers with less-than-perfect credit.”

Just make sure the HDMI cables you buy are version 1.3 or newer, or they are ancient technology and may not work with every feature (like 3D).
FWIW, I talked to an audio/video geek here at work before I decided to consider 3D and he said he has 3D with some very old HDMI cables and he doesn’t have a problem. Although, like you, I’ve also heard that some old HDMI cables should be avoided with the newer electronics out today. Right now I’m looking into prices for some HDMI cables and some of those prices are ridiculous. One in particular, believe it or not, is an upscale 6 foot HDMI Monster Cable that costs $120 at hhgregg. How many of those do you think I’m going to get? I know this is full MSRP and you can get it for less when you shop around but that gives you an idea of what Monster Cable charges for their products. I think it was ‘rb’ who said where he got cables for his home theater system at a reasonable price so if he sees this post maybe he’ll say it again. Anyone else is free to jump in too. I see what I want at cablewholesale.com; a 6 foot HDMI cable for $7.68 but I have to pay shipping. That price may be too low but I’m almost willing to take the chance. I’m still trying to get a count on how many of these I need but I think I’ll need 5. So, the less than $10 shipping cost for the 5 doesn’t add much to the total cost for each cable. If any of you guys need any of these cables, I’ll be a nice guy and let you piggyback on my order.
Buy your HDMI cable(and speaker cable as well as any other interconnects you need) from Blue Jeans Cable. They have quality cable at a good price. Not dirt cheap, but worth it- and still much less expensive than the Monster/boutique products. I use BJC in all my HTS installs- including the primary and secondary systems at Casa Roadburner.

Well, yes and no. HDMI(as well as any other digital signal cable) either works or it doesn't. If you are getting a video picture with no pixelation then upgrading to a "high end" product won't improve the picture quality. That said, I still want an HDMI cable constructed with high quality raw cable and high quality terminations to prevent future problems that may arise from using poor quality raw components. Thats why I recommend Blue Jeans Cable; they simply emphasize their use of quality components and construction and don't make outrageous claims about how their cables will "magically transform" your system- as can be seen by their description of their HDMI cables.

Pshhh! Not at all. First off, analog connections still beat HDMI in ultimate sound quality. HDMI has a ways to go in audio quality, but they have video nailed. It's something of a lack of warmth. Kind of the way CD's sound inferior to SACD/DVD-Audio, and Blu-Rays best formats.
Secondly, HDMI is overkill if all you need is a 2-channel system such as in a bedroom.
Thirdly, a lot of 2-channel stereos, receivers, amplifiers made more than 3 years ago do not have digital audio connections like HDMI.
Fourthly, HDMI components sometimes have "cross-talk" issues and are not always functional or compatible.
Fifth, and part of the reason for the fourth, too much "anti-theft" anti-piracy technology, so much so that it compromises the functionality of the cable at time.
The best thing about HDMI is you can get multi channel audio and HD video all out of one single cable, but their are cons; one of which there was HDMI 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 , 3.1, 3.1a, and on and on. Too many versions and updates.

I went out to the movies one night and came back to my wife and her cousin (like a sister to her) discussing things like "blowing out walls," "moving appliances," & "expanding the kitchen into the dining room for a more open floor plan because we only use the dining room 2-3x per month and it is wasted space..." First off, analog connections still beat HDMI in ultimate sound quality. HDMI has a ways to go in audio quality, but they have video nailed.
Have any double-blind tests verified that statement? And as for ultimate audio, we're talking broadcast/cable/stellite TV sound quality. Not horrible, but hardly high end.
Secondly, HDMI is overkill if all you need is a 2-channel system such as in a bedroom.
I wasn't referring to just HDMI, there are also TOSlink and coaxial digital inputs/outputs.
Thirdly, a lot of 2-channel stereos, receivers, amplifiers made more than 3 years ago do not have digital audio connections like HDMI.
I have a 2008 Denon 6.1 HTS receiver with both TOSlink and coaxial digital inputs/outputs. FWIW, I still use a Rotel RCD-855 CD player with RCA outputs in my primary HTS(which can operate in a bare-bones("Pure") 2 channel mode- but I doubt one person in a thousand could reliably detect a sonic difference between the Rotel's CD performance and that of my mid-fi Samsung Blu-ray player(or my Magnavox/Funai DVR/HDD/DVD recorder for that matter).

Oye Vey is right, better you than me. When we moved into this one story home 4 years ago it was only 2 years old and it was supposed to be our last house.
Now my wife has seen a home down the street she would like to buy and remodel....it does have a nice view of the bay and the city, but this house is perfect for us....and it's all new.
Why do they always do this kind of thing to us?

You had to go away for 2 hours to get that plan hatched?? My wife did it in 15 minutes.
We had just passed papers on our house. It was our first house so we wanted to have dinner there that night. We brought over a few items and then I went out to get a pizza and a bottle of wine so we could sit on the floor of "our" dining room and celebrate.
When I got back, she had already peeled the wallpaper off the walls and drawn where the new opening was going to go.....

Why do they always do this kind of thing to us?
Because we bought them a TV so they can watch HGTV. Mrs. j is as big a culprit at this as anyone, honest.
In a way I’m a little surprised though. When we moved to SC in ’92 I was all for buying a house already built because I did not want to get into examining every phase of home construction. My thought was if I didn’t see what’s behind the walls I’d be better off. But since we didn’t see anything we really liked, that was already standing, we forced ourselves into building. I remember her saying, “c’mon it should be fun. What else do we have to spend our time on now? We did this before and it was OK”. While we did build our first house in ’69, it was pretty much a standard tract type home and we didn’t have the choice of picking out everything but I did witness its construction and I wasn’t keen on doing that again. Now in SC we are custom building and Mrs. j had to pick out EVERYTHING. At first she was thrilled about that but eventually as the house progressed to various stages the builder said, “OK, since we are at the point where you asked me to wait for how to proceed, well, we are at that point now. So, what do you want me to do here”? I remember her saying, “I never thought I’d be asked all these questions about every little detail. It’s not fun anymore. I need a break”? I shouldn’t have said, “I told you so” but I did.
The only thing I can figure out as to why she is so into this stuff again is because we built that house a long time ago and she forgot about all the choices that she had to make. Then again, maybe choosing one room at a time spaced out over a few years gives her a chance to catch her breath for another round of the joys of remodeling.
Believe it or not, when we just bought the new TV she said, “it’s a shame you’re going to put that nice new TV in this room (referring to the family room) before you paint it”. I said, “why do I have to paint a new TV”? :confuse: I got another one of those looks.
What will she think of next?

Portland, ME to Daytona, FL is 1350 miles and puts you in 13 states.
A number of years ago, my wife accompanied me on a trip to Boston. We did a day trip that encompassed MA, CT and RI. About the only way you could see three states based on where we live in CO would be to see SW Nebraska and SE Wyoming ... woo hoo! (not)
“c’mon it should be fun. What else do we have to spend our time on now?
I wonder how many of us have heard that exact sentence. We had one home built and I truly hope we never have to go through that again.
And, there is so much aggravation with builders. Even when they have a plan to go by, they put central vac opennings behind doors - so you have to leave the door closed to reach it, put in a step up to a room where it was supposed to be flat, forget to put in electric outlets, and on it goes. It's not my idea of fun.
Geez, it's almost 90 here in Ellicottville N.Y., not much tennis yet! People in the pool though.

The site is back up now. It was down for about 10 minutes. I don't type on my phone, I use Siri, which is how I dictate my posts. It's like having the secretary, or a stenographer, at my disposal. When I was a school principal, all I did was dictate memos through my secretary, who was a stenographer. Sometimes I have to edit because Siri doesn't pick up all of my dictations. But it sure is a lot better than typing!
I was over at the mall again this afternoon to pick up a shirt I had ordered from Polo Ralph Lauren. So, I thought I would pass by CFA to see what was going on. I understood from news reports that there was supposed to be some kind of demonstration or "Kiss-In", as they called it. Well, I sure was truly amazed at the demonstration. They had lots of security there to keep things civil, but there sure were a lot of "kissers" showing off for the media.
What I fail to understand is how kissing someone of the same gender on the lips in front of a food court restaurant was supposed to accomplish. There were about 30-40 gays (at least that's what it seemed) crowded near the CFA store carrying protest signs and chanting. It was peaceful, but a little grotesque, if you ask me. Everyone has the right to say what they want in this country and I support the owner of CFA to express his views just as I do the gay community to express its views.
The only concerns I have deal with public exhibitionism and the affect it can have on children. I think everyone is forgetting that our children should have contact/experiences in their world with wholesome role models rather than the fringes of our society - who have the right to demonstrate their free speech rights.
If you are gay, you can get married I many US states legally. But exploiting what happens in the bedroom is quite another.
It's funny you bring up OPPO. I went from Denon to OPPO as well.
The OPPO 83SE I have, because the SE added super high quality analog audio outputs, though ALL OPPO players still have the high quality 7.1 analog outputs if you want the very best audio (even over OPPO'S own HDMI output).
Of course, I already had very high quality audio cables too. If it's cheap vs. cheap, I'd go with the HDMI. But if it's the best vs. the best, I'll go with the high quality 7.1 Analog outputs that even the newer 93 player has standard.

There's rumors that BOSE spends more on marketing than every other audio manufacturer combined.
Those who know, don't buy BOSE. But for some people, it can "sound" good subjectively, and it is "easy."
I know that no one has every argued Audi's upgraded Bose sound system is in the same league as the Bang and OLUFSEN one (getting back to cars).
Acura's system that gets a lot of rave reviews in the TL is not the BOSE version either.
I'd buy Monster's Cables most expensive cable at full MSRP before buying BOSE at MSRP.
Bringing up TOSlink/optical and coaxial digitial outputs/inputs is a good point, but still slight overkill for 2 channels, and I still say analog sound beats digital easily on highy quality sources and components. Now if you have a cheap link in the system, digital can help bypass that (cheap DAC's, cheap power supplies, cheap outputs) Digital is more forgiving of low quality components than Analog is.

Buy your HDMI cable(and speaker cable as well as any other interconnects you need) from
Blue Jeans Cable.

1637.5 miles through 10 states. 17.5 mpg average for the pilot. We had a fantastic time & my kids had an absolute blast. Good to be home.
We're now in the planning stages of a kitchen redo. I was going to just keep the current set up & replace the cabinets as well as the counter tops (with wood & granite). I went out to the movies one night and came back to my wife and her cousin (like a sister to her) discussing things like "blowing out walls," "moving appliances," & "expanding the kitchen into the dining room for a more open floor plan because we only use the dining room 2-3x per month and it is wasted space..." Have any double-blind tests verified that statement?

And it probably didn’t have a 4 hour time limit, huh? :shades:

Huh -- I did 2303.6 miles in the ION and only hit 5 states - and one of them (Arizona) was only for 20 miles. The states sure are small back east. 29.83 MPG overall.
Why do they always do this kind of thing to us?
Driver, it's simple .. because we're always talking about the next car we want to get.
Why yes - yes they are.
Portland, ME to Daytona, FL is 1350 miles and puts you in 13 states.
Thanks for the link ‘rb’. I was pretty sure it had something to do with “jeans” but I couldn’t recall what it was but I knew it wasn’t levis.com
I can’t believe there are people who buy the Monster Cable brand of cables. Those people have too much money.
Thanks again,

A number of years ago, my wife accompanied me on a trip to Boston. We did a day trip that encompassed MA, CT and RI. About the only way you could see three states based on where we live in CO would be to see SW Nebraska and SE Wyoming ... woo hoo! (not)

People in the pool though.

andres.....RB.....after messing around with i-link (Pioneer) and Denon-link, buying their uber expensive CD/DVD/DVD-A/SACD/Blu ray players, I bought an OPPO. It trumps all of them in audio and video quality. And, it uses HDMI connection.
I 2nd RB's recommendation for Blue Jean Cables. I'd add MONOPRICE to his list for cables, too.

Whatever they did, yesterday was CFA's biggest sales day ever.
Remember New Coke? One of the biggest sales blunders ever. Then Coke realizes their mistake and brings back Coke Classic. Turns the whole thing into one of the biggest advertising success stories of all time.
