So, your BIL thought a noisy actuator/door was a fan?

I am more mechanically challenged than he is, but, I doubt if he knows what an actuator is or does. All he knows, is there is a loud clicking noise when the car is turned off.......I guess he assumed as I would, that the fan kept rotating once the car was turned off.

It has taken 2 days to try to reply...hope this one gets through.

if the two gerbils and the hamster that appear to be driving this website were fed better. It wouldn't surprise me much if the whole thing went down the chute in the next 3-9 months.

Oh wait, I've got it. The people who run this thing have been working on the Obamacare webiste. Now neither of them work.

Here's how I don't have to sign in each time. When I am alerted by email that someone has posted, I keep that email in my inbox and delete the old one. When I click the newest email from Edmunds, it takes me directly to the most recent post.

I was unable to reply to any posts yesterday because Edmunds was working on its data base or so the message said.

This posting is becoming more difficult because they are still working on the data base or so I am told.

Don't fret over a child asking about their inheritance. My niece and nephew actually walked through our house last year proclaiming what each wanted. As for money, we plan on spending it ourselves. I do know how you feel. I never thought of such things when my relatives were living, and neither did my wife. There is something about today's generation that is akin to entitlement issues. I have news for them. As the butler said in Gone With The Wind, "Askin ain't gettin."

Richard, a friend of mind said the new Chevy Colorado is due out late next year. He was looking to buy a Toyota Tacoma this year, but has heard good things about the Colorado, and decided to wait.

I'm exactly one year into my Honda Civic lease. It's a pretty nice car, but I miss the big comfortable, and more powerful ride that I had with my Buick Regal. My Civic is averaging close to 38.0 mpg combined, which is mostly highway. So that part has exceeded expectations.

I saw a 2014 red Mazda 6 trimmed in black leather the other day in our parking garage. Very sharp. Review on Edmunds was excellent. The 4 cylinder is both powerful and very good with the MPG. Will keep an eye out for that one in 2 years when my lease expires.

    Make that mine... not "mind".

Also, forum software has gone to pot the last 6-12 months or so it seems. Nothing seems to be working on a consistent basis. Somebody on extended vacation? Kristie? Steve? New guy? :-(

As the butler said in Gone With The Wind, "Askin ain't gettin."

That says it perfectly....I told my wife I wanted those two (there are 3 children involved) dropped from our wills altogether, I am sure the other two would not even think of making such a moronic request (my wife talked me out of doing that).

If we give them that money now, it may mean the other two will get that much less. In case they don't know it we may need that money one day - I am sure they won't be lending it to us. Finally, we have to try to live on the interest and dividends that money provides, if you deplete the nest egg by giving it away we will have less to live on. Not to mention - why reward bad behavior, the 2 who live within their means should be given money before the one who foolishly lost it.

I agree, we are entering a new age of entitlement. I can't imagine any friend of mine asking his parents for their inheritance early (except maybe Fezo - and where is he these days?) - I wouldn't hang out with such a person. You can't buy love, and you can't buy respect, so those two have to figure out how to get through life on their own.....maybe there will be something left over when I am gone but it will be a total accident.

How about giving them a lifetime membership to the "Jelly of the Month Club" instead? Talk about the gift that keeps on giving.

We have the opposite dilemma. I'm telling family member to keep their money, they may need it, and they aren't that old at 64.

I was unable to post anything because when I hit the post button it took me to the sign in page where I had to put in my user name and password. When I did it just took me back to the forum with my post lost forever. When I tried to post again it once again took me to the sign in page. It's like it didn't believe that I was who I was.

    So I gave up.

It was doing that to me when I tried to read the "Answers" where people not in the discussions post individual question. Then Edmunds wouldn't like my login, even though I was already logged in.

At least the Edmunds folks admit it when they have problems and don't lie about whether there is a problem.

A cynic (I've been accused, but not convicted) might posit that the objective is to torpedo the forums, since they may not "add value."

Perhaps not, but all the evidence is to the contrary.

It's sad when people have more spare time over a long weekend and can't access these boards.

Not like you to give up snakie. Once you hit the post button, and it takes you to the sign in page, or the edmunds forums under reconstruction or whatever it's called page... hit your "return" to prior screen button, or whatever it's called. Once back to your original post hit the "edit" button. Once there just hit "post my message" button. Works every time. :-)

I told my 'rich' aunt that I wasn't interested in her money (no children, brother, half sister and nieces/nephews only). I guess she believed me, because me and my brother got nothing from her will. She had a brother show up and live with her for several years and sucked who knows how much money away from her. I do know he got a new Camry out of her. His daughter got the house.

Inheritance seems to bring out the worse in many people. I'm changing my will right now because some of my family is not living up to my expectations. I also loaned a pretty good hunk of money at the first of the year, and I'm probably looking as this being a loss. I'm going to just let the local banks trust department handle the estate and pay their fee. It might be much less than what could be sucked out by the family member I previously had set as the administrator.

it's had a check engine light on and off for a long time, light smell of gas after stopping and getting out, leaks coolant and oil, and possibly trans. fluid. so gas isn't too far fetched but there isn't any leaking constantly only when used do i smell gas vapors, any suggestions?

    "...so I gave up..."

Don't feel bad. The site did that to me in the middle of a post leaving only a cryptic title about princes and hookers. I tried several times to either finish or explain what I started and got the same stuff as you.

For what it's worth I was trying to post a Craigslist ad that was an obvious scam that was written like a solicitation for an escort.

Nice to be able to do that. I am 66 and I don't want to be asked about inheritances and I wouldn't dream of asking someone for an early inheritance.

It is totally up to the individual to leave his money however he wishes. I have friends I'd rather leave money to over many relatives. If it was up to me there would be a few charities I would prefer leaving it to...but, my wife won't go along with that.

    Yeah, buy a new car.:(

Seriously though you might get better help at one of the mechanic's boards.

My guess for a car that age would be a rusted fuel filler neck ( replaced one on my 97 Cirrus) or a leaking fuel line. I once had a pinhole leak in a fuel line that was so fine that I went weeks smelling gas without finding anything.

I am thinking the same as you bolivar. The SIL who asked for an early inheritance and rung up over $200K in loans was, along with our daughter, named as power of attorney and executors of our estate.....talk about the fox being in charge of the hen house. I am thinking along the same lines as you...it may cost more but I think there is a better chance things will go better if I get a bank to administer PofA and will. At least the other two children won't be at the mercy of these two.

My SIL took over the business and paid almost no one on time. I have only made a late payment about 3 times in my whole life...a bill was lost or I was away. I once bought a condo and I owed my father $40K. We wrote out a 5 year payment plan and I paid back at 10% interest. I lost 2 jobs during that time but I never missed a payment. Some people don't understand the concept of paying back the person who helped you in the first place.

No, because it was such an obvious scam (2005 Honda for $2125) it was flagged pretty quick.

The ad copy was obviously from someone whose primary language was not English. It made reference to giving you "total satisfaction" in such a way that I thought I was reading an ad for a Russian mail-order bride.

But, if I were one of the upper echelon grand poohbahs at Edmunds (like Kirstie or KYFDX), I'd certainly be looking for a new WEB developer and WEB hosting service right about now.

I haven't actually seen the 2015 Mustang yet, but I'll bet April will see Ford try to match the 1964 launch of the 1965. It was huge. I don't really expect the car shape to change all that much from current. However Independent Rear Suspension will be a welcome addition. My 98 Corvette had IRS, but then again so did my 07 Escape. Tech changes will be minimal as Sync, Sirius and Shaker are top of the line for current in car systems.

Horsepower levels will mostly be lower with 6 cyls and 4 cyl turbos being the majority of Mustang sales. The few that get close to the 500 HP range (Mach I has been mentioned) will likely be very expensive. And likely be stick shift as Ford has yet to produce an A/T capable of handling over 420 HP. However mileage doesn't seem to be a factor as the 420 HP 2013 I'm driving gets 24 average MPG give or take a few tenths.

Not many vehicles make the 50 years of production mark so this will be a proud moment for Ford. And for Mustang fans alike. I'm sure I'll like the 2015, but I'm staying put as a happy buyer of the 48th production year.

"I will respectfully disagree with that."

Actually, we're not disagreeing at all. You explained it so well and I took the easy way out with a short comment. Like you, I remain amazed at what the general population finds interesting and entertaining. I didn't even know who these people were until recently. I kept hearing the name but couldn't figure out what made them notable. My niece finally explained it to me---trailer trash famous for nothing. If this is what turns on the general public, then we're in bigger trouble than I thought.

Really? Don't like that. I know that it was speculation but I've read that the 3.7 V6 would get a bump to 320hp. and the 5.0L would go up to about 450. There was talk of a 2.3L turbo 4 being offered in Europe but uncertain if it would be offered here.

The small engines have been the bulk of Mustang sales since day one so I would expect that to stay the same.

I would be really disappointed if they didn't offer a V8 in the 2015 at a comparable price to the 2014.

I saw a picture of the husband and wife who own the company (friends of Michelle) and, believe me, it wasn't budget restraints or the fiscal cliff. The picture was worth a thousand words. Now and then you can see an IQ become visible. Theirs were very photogenic. I'm not being political here, just realistic.

They probably will, but you said something about 550 HP and I doubt that will happen...at least not in a GT (especially A/T). I had to have A/T so instead of going $4k more for the Boss (stick shift only) with its 444 HP, I settled for 420 and A/T.

I have very little feeling in my feet (neuropathy-caused by statin drugs in cholesterol meds) so the only way I can tell how much I'm pushing on the gas/brake pedal is watching the speedo and tach.

We know how you feel about the Obamas. Move on.

We've been running through a very difficult string of events but if I read the last few days correctly things have turned the corner. I'll leave it go at that. On the health front I just have to be patient on the t and b cells. That's what keeps me from getting the restrictions lifted but all the other numbers are good and while I haven't gotten back to my normal energy level (which is low to start with - nothing I can help) and I feel fine.

Car mishap being repaired as we speak and just lucked into insanely good seats for a Los Lobos concert that has been sold out for months. We were the last people on a 2 page waiting list but the only ones to answer the phone. They don't leave messages. At least right now I like this method. To give you an idea about what a stroke of luck this was they are playing again there on March 1 and I have two tickets in the back row. They were the last tickets they had. SO getting front and center and this Saturday is way cool.

Sorry about the weekend problems, and yes, it was VERY unfortunate. Getting things fixed is more difficult on a holiday weekend, especially one that's as big as Thanksgiving, with many people travelling or hosting company. (Hosts were on, but we can't do anything except report it.)

We can assure you that the forums are NOT being eliminated. We're working with a very old system, and obviously it's not very stable and reliable. That's why Edmunds is forking out big bucks to get us on to a better system. Money and time have already been invested in pushing this forward. Unfortunately, everything happened just a bit later than we (the forums staff) would have liked, including permission to spend. It happens, and shoulda woulda coulda doesn't get us anywhere.

It is as frustrating to all of us as it is to you, but please be assured that it's not due to apathy or incompetence on anyone's part - it's just what we're working with right now as our staff try to wrangle with the current forums and work on transitioning to the new platform at the same time.

If I did, it was a typo. The articles I've read speculate 450 hp. For the Coyote 5.0L. If it was still at 420 that would be fine with me. Anything over 400 is just for bragging.
