Would I as a taxpayer be willing to pay for a monitor for each bus to make sure each student is buckled? Sure would. They need monitors even without the seat belts. This way they'd be killing two birds, with one stone.

Heck, hook those bus cameras into Hollywood, school systems could make a fortune selling all the school bus antics as a reality series. Make Jersey Shore look like Leave It To Beaver.

jio, that is a genius idea. Or just stream all the cameras (the way you can log on and watch traffic cams). Heck, the place where I board my dog has cameras set up so you can login and watch them running around playing.

why not with the kids on the bus? Taxpayers are paying for the bus, they deserve to see what is going on!

Frankly, the best option is a "death penalty". 2 strikes, and you lose bus privileges. Hold a hard line, and parents might actual care (after the first suspension).

or just do away with busing. Let the little brats (er, the future leaders of our country?) walk. I never in road a bus to school. Yes I lived in the Burbs, but had to walk from K to 12 (and none of them were really that close).

When I was first seeing you under the new handle I almost thought I was watching Richard Kimble the old Fugitive.

Someone asked about the car. I had the first at fault accident of my life - let myself get distracted for half a second (that's all it takes) and rear ended a guy in my beloved Mazda 6. Now because I only paid $6,500 for the car and never had an at fault accident I didn't out collision on it. That was a $3K mistake. Well, $3K minus the cost of collision on it which I'll soon find out.

The good news is I got it back yesterday. They did a beautiful job on it, You'd never know it had crashed.

grapicguy, anytime you feel like you want to "really" get back in the game, just buy a new Jag, Mercedes, BMW, Audi or Porsche and move down here to the Boca Raton or Delray Beach area. In the morning, around 10:00 AM, get in your luxury car and drive down the beach area on Rte. A1A or in the parking lot of the Boca Town Center Mall. Pull into a parking space and lean against your shiny new car. Trust me - you won't have to sit on the bench very much longer.

Down here, nothing attracts better than a Mercedes or similar car. As one ages a bit, Corvettes and Mustangs are not as good as a Mercedes and the like to use as bait cars.

Another good weapon is a Golden Retriever. Add one to the Benz and you can't lose. "...what a beautiful car and your dog is so friendly and cute..."!

Ever since I began buying Mercedes vehicles, as I drive into the mall parking lot to walk with my Dad every day, admiring fans always seem to want to strike up a conversation.

So, a new luxury car and spending winters in south Florida seems like an expeditious way of leaving the bench and getting back in the game!

We have friends staying with us in Florida from Saturday until Wednesday - I try to discourage these layovers but, somehow people find away to invite themselves to stay over.

Well the lady guest put the breakfast dishes into the dishwasher. The 4 bowls and 3 small saucers were all neatly arranged....ON THE BOTTOM RACK! That's the extra tall space so you can load it with large dishes and pots and pans and lids! OMG...this is a university graduate.

They make the bottom space extra large these days so you can use it for extra large plates etc. What could possibly make you put bowls on the lower rack?

Because the top rack - at least in our dishwasher - is made for cups and the bottom is made for plates and bowls and in our house, we use many more cups than plates and bowls.

I'm always looking for stuff to fill the bottom rack.

We use so many glasses that we often don't have room on the top rack for small bowls and small plates. You're correct though; that's where they need to go.

As for friends staying over for 5 days, they would have to be really good friends. When we visit friends in other areas, we always get a motel room. We like some private moments, plus we smoke. Even though we always smoke outside, we don't feel comfortable subjecting others to it. I do stay at my best friend's beach house at times. We grew up together and always stayed at each other's home as children and teenagers. Also, I would NEVER ask a friend if I could stay with them. Regardless if it's family or friends, it's still an imposition. I don't mind it at times, but I definitely want to do the inviting. I love my great nephews, but keeping them this summer got old after awhile. Still, it was a family situation and someone had to step up to the plate. It's a good thing that I'm married to a woman with a big heart and the patience of a saint.

Iron City beer was still around last year when I was in Pburgh. I remember when I was 14 and had been outside running around one hot day. Came inside and went to the basement where my Dad kept his beer in an old fridge. Took out an Iron City in the old cone top cans and chugged it. Took a nap in the "Bomb Shelter" we had in the basement and woke up with a hellatious headache. Threw up in the toilet and was ready for dinner. The thing is, even with the negative aspects of that experience, I developed a taste for those funny shaped cans but took the time to savor that icy cold brew in the weeks that followed. Funny thing is, I rarely even touch the stuff these days.

Has anyone tried to price a car and get TMV lately. I just spent a frustrating 15 minutes trying to do that and every time the page just dropped out and I was off the Edmunds site.

Is this site this glitchy still or do I have to take my computer in for service?

The forums work ok although it requires several more steps than before.

Oldfarmer...was able to price out a car to TMV. Screens acted funky, trying to revert to previous screens, but eventually got to the TMV screen after picking options. Still, looks [non-permissible content removed] they're still working on the WEB site.

Strohs was our college cheap beer. We used to get kegs of Sir Edward Stout. A stretch to call either beer.

Because the top rack - at least in our dishwasher - is made for cups

There are columns for cups along the sides on the top rack. The centre two rows have holders to run a row of bowls and plates. The top rack is just high enough to fit bowls and smaller plates.

The lower rack is much taller. I guess they build dishwashers to suit different people's needs, but, it seems to me you aren't using it efficiently if you use the taller lower portion for smaller size dishes.

I am curious to know how you are using so many more glasses than plates. Is that why you are not writing as much as you used to? Maybe you are on a liquid diet. .....just joking.

They say guests should follow the smelly fish rule...3 days and you should throw them out. We are like you, we never stay at someone's place....we stay at a motel if we are visiting someone. It isn't a vacation if you have to always be concerned about others.

I find it hard to live with strange people wandering around my house. At our northern home I bought a really bad pull out bed, so people - including my brother - only feel like staying for one night. The salesman said for $200 more there would be a lot more padding so you wouldn't feel anything poking your back....I said, "Why would I want that. Give me the most uncomfortable version you got."

Well it seems to me that you are being a bit presumptuous on the proper loading of MY dishwasher.

Yes I could fit some small bowls on the upper rack but as I said we use many more cups than other dishes and the top fills up with those cups - hence bowls go on the bottom. I use my dishwasher in the most efficient manner for my lifestyle.

Well, I assume they make these newer dishwashers with the tall lower racks so people can load their larger plates and larger pots and pans in the bottom.

I don't really know what your lifestyle is that you use way more cups than dishes, especially since most sets come with 4 or 8 of each....so, I would guess most people use cups, bowls and plates fairly equally. Not sure why you are using so many cups compared to dishes....unless you are addicted to large amounts of coffee or tea maybe, or you have Cup A Soup or Instant Noodles for your meals? I was going with the averages, but, maybe I was presumptuous in thinking they built tall lower tubs for tall dishes etc., and most people would use upper rack for smaller dishes and plates, and possibly a similar number of cups. Have you considered a dishwasher with 3 shelves all about 8 inches apart. For the few large dishes you use you could just lay them flat, but, think of all the cups you could fit in there.

The thing is, you can load your dishwasher however you see fit, but, I think they made the bottom taller because most people use it for tall dishes - not so you could fill the top with cups and the bottom with a few bowls...but, feel free to load your dishwasher however you like - really. I found it peculiar that our guest loaded the top with cups, and put the bowls in the bottom, and if we used large plates or pots and pans for a later meal, there won't be a place for those-when there could have been if the bowls were put in the top.

The Civic is history, it left last Monday and the dealer sold it yesterday! Bought a 2014 Hyundai Tuscon SE and am very pleased with it. Long story and will come back and explain but I was all over the place and ended up at the Hyundai store. Great vehicle really!!!

lol....I think all men learn at an early age, how to avoid doing chores you don't really want to do. Hey Sandman, didn't take you too long to pull the trigger once you decided you were going to do it. It's about time we moved some metal around here too. The Tucson sounds like an ideal choice for you. You like smaller cars, but you will have additional room if you need it with an SUV/SAV.

The new Tuscon's look sharp, and Hyundai has the reliability factor going for them these days....just don't do your own oil changes.

I have always wondered what river it came from; the Monongahela or the Allegheny. I know it couldn’t be from the Ohio because anything that is mixed by the time it gets to the Ohio couldn’t taste that bad.

I was wondering the same thing. Some people want it done their way, you included, or there must be a problem with them.

Me, I don’t give a damn how it’s loaded as long as they are clean when they come out. There are only two of us in the house now and it’s been that way for a long time. So, not too much time has to be given to how it’s loaded. Everything fits the first time. Simple…huh?
