    For a 12K PY we are at 51% with a 2.25% rate and a $1750 rebate.

Base payment on a FWD Limited with a $34K MSRP would be $407 with the customer paying inceptions of $661 and having good enough credit to get the SD waived. That is an invoice deal. Full pop making $1846 profit would be $456 base payment w/ $715 due at inception

Keep in mind we are in Boston and they are lloking at AWD cars. I am not sure what is going to happen. I just talked to him and now he wants to look at the Lincoln XKZ or what ever it is. i am assuming it is the same as a Edge.

I told him as long as that vehicle is available with these programs i will honor that deal. If that vehicle sells than he is out.

The 2009's are rolling in for the last couple of days

Exactly, so it even makes his statement about $360 even more ludicrous.

Thanks for the input Joel I kinda of thought the guy was trying to put me together. I really don't think the guy can afford it to tell you the truth :lemon:

But only time will tell... On the test drive everything was perfect. The wife says to me " You know GP you are nicest sales person we have met a long time  . The thing I hate most about buying cars is the negotiations." all of a sudden the husband perks up and says" That's my favorite part"... So thinking of it that way I think he just trying to grind me down.

These are the customers that make me hope the vehicle gets sold out from them and there are no others left like it. Everything was right from the color to equipment to going lower than what they wanted for their budget. Some people jsut work too hard

Thanks again Joel... i don't fel so crazy anymore... My boss keeps telling me that they have to be on a cloth car for those numbers...

Yeah, I wouldn't have called him. Just adds to your frustration and stress level.

He doesn't care about ethics or the vlaue of a handshake. For him, it's all about the almighty dollar.

You are better off without him.

Another of my sales managers famous closing quotes. " Sometimes being a good negotiator means knowing when to say yes."

Thats one of the reasons I love this business. You can say anything in the world to anyone as long as you say it in the right way...

Fatboy got snooty with me so I was going to abandon the thread. I really don't think he understood what I was saying about the Toyota vehicle order system. That was a sarcastic remark he put at the end.

I got this customer today that misled me. Not sure why customers do this. This is why we never quote our lowest price. They kinda force us to start at MSRP.

He asked for our bottom bottom absolute bottom price. After I gave it to him he asked why is your price SO MUCH HIGHER THE OTHER DEALER DOWN THE ROAD? I told him no it's not. He says yes it is I'm not dumb I did my research before I came here. I said really, So what price did they give you down the road. He tells me $1800.00 less then yours (FYI I gave him a quote for $50.00 under Net Net). Then I ask him which dealer did you get that quote from? He then tells me the dealers name and tells me which sales person too. Funny thing was I knew the exact sales person he was talking about. He was a close friend of mine. So I called my friend and asked him did you meet with MR. So & So today> he says yeah I did. Then I ask him did you quote him this price. He tells HELL NO THAT FOOL IS ON CRACK!!!!!!! This whole time I had my friend on speaker phone. The customer got very very red like a tomato and starts yelling you sales people always play games. I don't know why you cant just be honest.

Why do customer lie like this then accuse us of lying?

Heck, if that is a fully loaded (roof, etc.) new Murano, and a color I like, I might take it for $399 with nothing down!

  • mackabeemackabee Member Posts: 4,709
Yes, but you are a lady. In my experience I would rather sell to a woman than to a man. Women know what they came into the dealership for and don't play any games. Guys on the other hand always bring up the "I got to talk to the wife" or "I have to pick up my kid at little league practice" or any other white lie they can think of. Plus you were dealing with a high line store which tend to treat their customers with more dignity and respect than the run of the mill manufacturers.

My husband and I have been buying cars from this dealership (they sell hyundai, honda, suzuki and acura) for 6+years. Our first car from them (will not name it) had a problem, they eventually had to replace the transmission. (after less than 4,000 miles and 5 attempts of fixing it's problem. The service advisor and rest of the service department went out of their way to try to solve the problem. We did get to try out different loaner cars. I became good friends with the s.a who is now the acura service manager. I always figure want respect-then give it.
Hubby and I were thinking of making a trip to Virginia Beach this weekend but now have other plans-someday-
One more thing-this dealer is in Pa and we live in NC.

"...Rachael is a babe, she can cook for me anytime..."

I happen to know some good gossip about Rachael since she is a local girl. One story involves my niece.

Several years ago they worked for the same food distributor. At the time my niece was dating a guy who we'll call "Joe". As it happened, the day before some drug dealer had been arrested who had a name very similar to Joe. Also at this time my niece was having relationship troubles with her Joe (the non-drug dealer). She was sitting at her desk crying.

Somehow Rachael saw my niece crying and concluded that it must have something to do with drug dealing. She called the police and tried to have my niece arrested!

So Mack, if you take a run at her be sure to leave you medical mary jane at home.

Oh to stay on topic, the Prius is a very nice car. ;)

I don't have any medical Mary Jane although my doctor offered to get me some if my appetite went down. My appetite is good but I just might take her up on it. I don't know how well it would go over at work though. I'd have to take a note from my doctor so there would be no problem. I would'nt do it at work, I have trouble remembering things as it is and with Mary it would be worse. LOL

I have a new favorite poster. It was a toss up between two relatively new folks. 240ka or amad1.

These two have been competing for either the silliest posts or for just plain stupidity. Amad1 has done an exceptional job of replacing Tbaxxon for exhibiting prowess in both categories.

I just want to congratulate him and wish him the best in his short tenure here. If you guys would like to send them words of encouragement, please feel free. Don't forget 240ka.... he could probably use some consolation prizes.

apologies accepted....I love to drive manual transmission vehicles-another shock for you (right)My husband also loves MT so we have only vehicles with quess. He likes motorcycles (owns a suzuki bandit 1200 and a kawasaki z-1000 (I hate them)
Besides being interested in cars I also love to cook, bake, etc.
waiting to see what the new acuras will look like-maybe 2010 model for me. It is to bad Toyota does not have any vehicles with 6MT.

Honda does make Accord V-6 coupes with 6 speeds.

    Not much demand for them.

After many years of requests, they built some 6 speed V-6 sedans but quit building them after they found out few (I mean VERY few) people wanted them.

It is too bad Americans are mostly into automatics. My tsx is 6MT and so is my mitsubishi raider truck. As long as there are vehicles with 6 spd I will buy them

Ah, my kind of woman. We used to be a manual transmission family too until the beach started to grow and our two lane boulevard turned into 8 lanes. There's traffic jams now on what used to be a nice out of the way country road. Progress? My first handshaker was an 81 Celica, then I got an automatic for Mrs. Mack since I had a hard time teaching her how to drive the manual tranny. Then came a 92 Camry hand shaker also. Since that was her car she didn't have any trouble driving it. Once in a while she would borrow my MR2 and she would come back with a big smile on her face. I miss that car! Today the only manual tranny cars in the family are my oldest son's tC and his wifes Corolla S, and my middle son's Honda Prelude SH which I love to drive once in a while.

My brother was my teacher. It was a 4spd 1971 VW super beetle. It is funny when I think about that learning experience but then. I was at an intersection that had a slight incline. I kept stalling and my brother was laughing and said I wonder how long it will take for you to buck across this intersection. He took me to a parking lot where I got used to the clutch and gas pedal. He must have been a good teacher.
I tried to teach my daughter drive our (no longer have) 98 eagle talon TSI-AWD. she did great in reverse and managed 1st very well. It was the rest of the shifting she could not manage. I think she gave up too soon. She prefers automatics.

3 Years ago I leased a Pathfinder to a husband and wife. The vehicle was for the wife mainly. I kept in touch with them over the years. They sent me refferals. I talked to them recently to let them know their lease was up 3 months and they asked about the new Murano. I said it will be in shortly. The new Muranos came in and I called them. I let them take the Murano LE out for a few hours today and when they got back they said we want it but we have to work the figures out. I told them we would take care of the rest of there payments $600 and discount the Murano $600 a total of $1200 off on a new Murano which we haven't been discounting yet. He said he needed his payment about $30 less a month ( that is about $1000 ) I said no problem and we had a deal. Total time test driving 3 hours... total time negotiating 15 minutes. Customer happy, i will get exellent CSI And everyone is happy :D

It definately pays to follow up :shades:

I never would have made Captain if I did not have great Chiefs and Petty Officers like Mac

All I know is that as a lowly little PO3 if a Captain told me to do something and my Chief told me do to something else I did what the Chief told me to do.

If the selling price of a new vehicle is invoice or below, is it normal for no commission to be paid to the sales rep? This is without rebates being involved btw.

In this case, when this character said he was a man of his word, I would have asked for a BIG NON-REFUNDABLE deposit.

Every place I have ever heard of paid flats to the sales people when no commision was involved. The norm being $100.
