LOL. Ok, someone is giving up. That's not part of the bet I'm sure.

He may be currently be homeless. Uses the local library for internet access. Wishes a recession on everyone so they will start to feel like him.
His father was a car salesman. Before his father left the family, his dad brought him to work and showed him a shiny new car. Told Amad1 that it would be his someday. That day has never come. Bitterness followed quickly behind.
Oil's been changed fastidiously every 13k miles. Only has 5 owners of which 4 were in Canada. TMU.
Rear tires are tall, fronts are only showing a little metal. Tape deck may have a short as it works intermittently.
Roll up windows are a joy because they give you a little extra workout. Blood stains on front seat were from when Amad1 cut his finger jumping the vehicle off. The wires were a little sharp. Ignition will be fixed if there is an interested buyer.
Bets over...
I just got used to typing stuff

By the way, how's our profiling going?

I had the nicest guy drive from South Carolina to buy a 911 from me on Saturday.
Why didn't he purchase from his local dealer? Because when he drove up in his '08 Range Rover and walked through the lot, not a single salesperson came out to see if he needed assistance. Not once..... but twice.
Congratulations, Derek!

Yes that would make a difference. Since amad1 sets such a high standard by honesty that he ment that he ran right down to the dealer as soon as he was told the car was in stock. If he waited several days before dragging his lazy butt over and just assumed it would still be there he would be a pompous [non-permissible content removed] indeed.
But I'm sure that is not the case.

Sheesh! Were you having a bad day?? Put the guns down and come out peacefully. We just wanna talk.
People are always saying it's better to sell your own car. It depends on the location and the car. I had listed one of mine for sale and it never did. The only interest I got was from el-cheapos who were offering less than 50% of market value. In my experience, selling your own car only works when you have an old jallopy to dump. Newer/nicer cars just sit forever.
I think it's rather apparent lls57 has got his situation under control. :P

The use your powers to make him go away.
I have been enjoying reading the stories here for quite some time - but I resemble that remark! I was driving a 1969 Maverick in 1983 (family hand-me-down, graduating college student) when I started dating my wife. Safety pins held the headliner panels together. She thought the punk look was great. Just celebrated 21 years last week.
For a sales story, we were looking for a new Honda in 1991. Took the test drive and sat down to discuss numbers. This was at a volume dealer in N. CA. This was going to be her car and she did all the home work so we already had our numbers figured out. Salesman ingores her when trying to talk price and only talks to her when asking about color and options. He asks what it would take for us to drive the car out that day and my wife says when you are ready to talk to me about the price. He looks at me and says "When you are ready to buy, give me a call." We bought the next week from another dealer who took her seriously. Kept the car until 2004.
We need more funny stories...or amad2 to pop in!
I'm confused on your story though. It looks like your wife told the salesperson to talk to YOU about pricing. Is that not correct?
He asks what it would take for us to drive the car out that day and my wife says when you are ready to talk to me about the price.
Clarify for me there. And thanks for a story. We're running a little low on those right now. :P

I sell Hondas in SE Ohio...About 40 mils away, in WV, is another Honda dealer. I absolutely love when ladies that are shopping for a car have been there first. This dealership in WV must be filled to the brim with dinosaurs! As long as the lady has been to this dealer, we look like princes. And we really dont do anything special other than pay attention to everyone and give them equal credibility as far as being a decision maker. Its amazing because you can see visible signs of relief once it sinks in that we are not going to treat them like the other dealer. Makes my job easier and I can usually hold a bit more gross.
It was as much who was telling me what I should do as anything.
Naaah. Probably has a dog so he can kick it when he gets home from work. :P
He heard there were rewarding careers in the court recording industry!! It's off to the next job application.

Sorry for the confusion - she wanted wanted the sales person to talk to her, I was to be the window dressing.
I'll add one more buying story while I am at it. First our car buying philosophy is if we are happy with the dealer/salesperson that we are dealing with, if they are close to what we have established and differences (couple hundred $ at most) are split in half, we will leave with a car.. Back in 2003 my wife decides that with increasing gas prices, the 4 year old SUV is history. We need something with similar seating so the Volvo V70 station wagon is it. The rist dealer tells us the only way we can get the required rear facing back seats is to have them dealer installed at a cost greater then what the cost is from the factory. When installed at the factory there are addtional things in the package that we would want - not an option, not going to talk about ordering or will he even see if there is one with the option at another dealer.
Go to the next dealer with our numbers written down with the options required. Meet the saleswoman taking us as an up, give her our numbers and she returns in 5 minutes with the deal approved and asks what colors are acceptable. Makes her calls, finds the car and tells us they are doing a dealer trade. Happy with the dealer, happy with the deal.
For the salespeople here, why would dealer one "brush us off" and only want to sell what was in their inventory while dealer 2, with the same information put in the effort to find what we we were asking for?
I believe he wrote something along the lines that he wanted sludgemobile d8kd037, when only sludgemobile hgl83lg0 was available. So, even though he didn't have the intention of buying the second sludgemobile, he was justified in wanting to test drive any ole sludgemobile as the "sludgemobile" was the car he was interested in.
For the salespeople here, why would dealer one "brush us off" and only want to sell what was in their inventory while dealer 2, with the same information put in the effort to find what we we were asking for?
Any number of reasons, but my first guess would be that you dealt with a very inexperienced salesperson. Second guess, salesperson was a fly by nighter. He needed the commission immediately.
It doesn't make sense though does it? It was so simple and easy at one dealership and so difficult at another. Your second sales lady sounds like a pro!

...but I resemble that remark! I was driving a 1969 Maverick in 1983
Yeah, it happened to me too.
When I moved to S.C. from the Burgh in 92’, the headliner of my 80’ Park Ave. couldn’t take the heat so it started to sag, BAD. It got to the point that the push pins, that I bent at a 90 degree angle about ¼ inch from the tip, (pretty ingenious, huh?) were becoming quite numerous. That’s when Mrs. jmonroe said, “that’s it, do something about all those pins or lets get a new car”. So, I did something about it. You don’t think I was going to get rid of an otherwise perfect car because of something like that did ya?
I took it to a trim shop and had the headliner replaced and although the visors were fine, the guy at the shop said I should have him do the visors too so the material would match perfectly So, he beat me out of another $35, total job, $135. Kept that Buick until 97’ when I moved back to the Burgh.
No more complaints from you know who, until 97’, when it went bye bye, all because the transmission was starting to slip. I did my best to keep that thing, I was willing to put a rebuilt transmission in that beauty but it wasn't to be. Just another battle that I had to chalk up in the loss column. Come to think of it, there ain’t all that many in the won column.
Best car I ever had.

Besides the Cayenne which you can only get a stick with the base model or GTS, have you been selling more sticks or slushboxes since you've been with Porsche?

Yes. He traded his '08 Range Rover Sport S/C with 917 miles on it. He purchased a C2S coupe manual. Didn't give him much of a discount. The market is strong on 911's.
I'd have to say manuals. Although, here in Atlanta, there seems to be about a 60/40 split of manuals/tips.

After I get all the current vehicles put together, then I can start thinking about older models as well.
Is it just me or have you been posting a lot more recently, Jescue? (I'm glad, you've got a good sense of humor.)
