Yeah, most of what we are seeing is a shift in the mix. Double digit drops in sales make headlines. Hopefully it isn't a longer term phenomenon. The domestics, and to a lesser degree Toyota, are going to have to adjust to the new mix. Honda and others who have not had as much light truck mixed in should weather this better.
I believe we can thank the national and local media for the doom and gloom hype. I have no doubt that there are certain location and jobs that are hurting.
Don’t think I would want to be a framer right now.
A lot of the local lumber mills are shut down or running on one shift four days a week.
Maybe some of those oil speculators are reaping their rewards.
The premium brands don't make the big headlines like the mainstreamers. I think it would be a dire sign if BMW posted a 25% drop in sales. Some of the more niche or specialized premiums might be showing some vulnerability. Seems I recall british rover mentioning May was going kinda slow. Then he follows up with a quick start to June. On the whole I would still expect the premiums to not feel the pain quite as much.
most people don't realize that the upscale brands [Audi, BMW, Mercedes] aren't really hurting for sales or business.
I’ll believe that since I’ve seen this myself. I’ve not experienced it first hand mind you but I’ve seen a good bit of it.
While there is a lot of “new money” out there I’ve noticed that there is a lot more of the old stuff and unless you do something really stupid that kind of money always seems to be there.
My only regret is that my family grew old and had to spend theirs. If they had only loved me more I could have been something too.

But the way we do it here is the customer comes in and says" I want to buy this car out" We say OK Ground the car, tell nissan the customer is buying the car, we buy the car from Nissan, we get the title, than we do paper work and the customer financing if they need it and sell insurance.... That process takes about 3 weeks
I am glad to hear you/Jescue do things differently. I don't know why I am glad to hear that but I am. It does sound like your state has things set up right.
I have two deliveries today. I have one set up for 6:00 PM and I had one set up for 4:00 PM. I told the 4:00 PM people that I already had a delivery at 6:00 PM and that really 4:00 or 4:30 was the latest I could do their delivery. They said sure we can be there by 4:00. I called them this afternoon to confirm and they said oh well so and so will be there at 4:30 but I can't be there till 5:00...
Uhh well ok I guess as long as so and so is there at 4:30 to do all the paperwork and start going over the car that will be fine. I just don't want things to get too backed up with my people at 6:00. Yeah we understand that no problem see you at 4:30.
Well it is 5:00 PM now and neither so and so nor so and so's son is here.
Everything with these people has been so, so difficult I know this is going to be an extremely painful delivery that is going to screw up my second deliver at 6:00 PM.
Jescue: What kind of Cayennes do you have sitting on the lot? HOw much are you asking for them?
bigbutr: You've got a Beretta? Oh boy, you're right, ANYTHING will be a step up. A '92 Beretta was my first car and also the last GM car I will ever own.
2001 Prelude Type SH, 2022 Highlander XLE AWD, 2025 Camry SE AWD

It figures. Any state that would claim the Red Sox as their team would find a way to screw the consumer out of their car for three weeks. I bet Billicheat had something to do with it.
No, we don't do it that way. Customer comes in we do a new contract with vin, mileage, and add taxes, title, registration, and processing fee and they drive away happy.
Bigbutr, next time consult the Master Toyota salesman. I would have put you on a 4 cyl Camry Le (MSRP $21,984) for $199.00 a month, 12k miles per year, for three years and only $1999.00 plus tax, title, registration, no security deposit. Mack
Well it makes no sense to me why Toyota would say that those charges are included if the Distrubutor is going to turn around and charge the same amount. and fyi on my sticker it does not say MSRP total it says Distrubutor Total Charges and that is added to the MSRP. Like I said Ive bought lots of cars and never had one read as this one does. and I find your panties in wad picture very offensive..I know I can be a pain in the butt when Im trying to find out information. All of this could have been avoided if Toyota did not have their little disclosure about the DPand H being included. I still dont get it but I can let it go................................................gone...........smile..bye bye
Kinda sad that I'm lurker now. Ahh well.... I check in from time to time.
If anyone was still wondering.... selling Porsches is still the greatest move I've ever made. What a blast. Hours, clients, cars, money..... everything is better.
I'm like you, I don't understand the additional charges either and the dealerships certainly can't/won't explain what they are really for. One local Toyota dealership actually wanted to charge $798.00 for dealer prep, explanation given we check to make sure tires are properly inflated and oil and other fluid levels are correct, needless to say I walked away laughing.
Consumers reports is in the process of using a gaus meter so they can measure EMF levels in a bunch of cars as well as the hybrids. They say in the meantime, don't panic.
"and I find your panties in wad picture very offensive..I know I can be a pain in the butt when Im trying to find out information. I still dont get it but I can let it "
There is nothing offensive about the picture. And it's "panties in a bunch" not wad. We can see where your mind is at. It's a floor lamp for God's sake!
It's not that difficult. The bottom price on the sticker is at the bottom. Are you blond? Mack :shades:
So they finally show up at 5:15 but the son isn't there yet. They start going over the paperwork but the father doesn't like how it is set up even though it is set up exactly how they wanted it in the first place which was overly complicated. They want to put it in a company name now or something I don't know whatever I don't car its not worth 150 bucks I will tell you that.
The son finally shows up at about the same time that my 6:00 PM delivery shows up and an appointment that our Used Car manager made for way early that afternoon finally shows up as well.
The used car appointment owes 16,500 dollars on a ML320 that is worth about 3,000 dollars :surprise: :surprise:   so she is completely screwed. Some Brooklyn dealer completely shafted her and told her by New York state law they had to charge her 18 percent interest.
ok back on track. Its decided that the 4:00 PM people will have to pick up there car tomorrow at 5:00 because we can't make the changes to the paperwork without first going back to the bank for a re-approval. They finally leave and I finish up the deliver on the 6:00 PM people but by now it is almost 8:00 pm.
Luckily the 6:00 PM people are really cool and they even offer to take us out for drinks after the delivery.

All I want out of the Goverment is for them to secure my borders and guarentee my sovereignty. Other than that leave us the hell alone and and let the free enterprise system work. We all have survival instincts and if they would just let the system work we all would be GTG.

That is definitely a bogus charge. A few years back we were blowing Camrys out for $16,990.00 plus freight and PREP. The prep fee was $499.00 and we were told to explain it to the customer like they did to you. I put them on the carpet on it and told them I was not going to lie to a customer and my deals would be without the prep charge. I'm all for making a profit for the dealership but when it comes to misrepresentation count me out. :shades: Mack

Neither would I, I hate crafts and dealing with people who obsess over the correct matte color all the time would get old.

A lot of people simply don't care. They will show up whenever it pleases them.
If I'm off at 5:00, I will no longer wait around for a customer who says they wil be in at 6:30 "or so".
I’m sitting here at 6:40 drinking my first cup of coffee reading this: Matte color? What the ?? :surprise:
Maybe his 6 o'clock delivery was for 6 AM today...
That would mean the wealthy would share their wealth also with all the poorer folks in Mass. Doesn't it??? :confuse:
