was this a good deal?
I just took delivery of my new '07 Limited w/Ultimate 25 package. I took the advice of many of you that suggested that I deal through the internet sales manager and I believe that I worked the system well.
The MSRP was $31,190 and I paid $24,877 after rebates ($1000 regular and $1000 loyalty) as we have another Hyundai in the family garage.
On top of the $24,877 was a document fee of $58, an electronic tag and title fee of $168 and $1752 sales tax for an out the door price of $26,856.
I ended up buying from Patrick Dranias at Gartner Hyundai in Aurora,IL (Chicagoland) who pledged to match any other written offer and he was certainly true to his words.
I utilized the Hyundai corporate site at Hyundaiusa.com and after configuring the vehicle, then requested quotes from five area dealers, which took all of twenty minutes in total.
Gregory was the cheapest and Darcy was the highest by over $700 while Patrick, Ettleson and Gartner were $200 over Gregory which Gartner offered to match. With Gartner being the closest to my house and having had good experience with their service department in the past, this was a no brainer.
The car was prepared properly when I picked it up with the lock/unlock and immobilizer code set as per my request.
Now the fun begins driving it! I hope this helps someone else as much as the other posts have helped me.

Sounds like a GREAT deal to me.
Good luck with your new ride.
BTW, Just love the Azera, I thought I would and it would be hard to convince my wife~NOT~my wife was sold before we even turned the key
I think you did pretty darn well for yourself. The deal sounds like a good one. Isn't it a good feeling to know you got a great car, good price, you like the way you were treated, and the dealer did what you expected and requested?
I'll bet the smile is still on your face.
Good luck with your ride.
Thanks for the comments. It is a good feeling and oh what a ride!
You are absolutely correct about finding the right dealer from what I have read of the experiences of others written here in the past.
Still smiling in Chitown!

Anyways, discovered the Azera on here and Consumer Reports and am seriously considering getting it instead of a Camry or 2nd Avalon.
Since that time, I have been checking here and on the net to get a feel for prices and saw the $1000 cash incentive that expired on 7/31. So far this morning, I haven't seen a replacement incentive.
Does anyone know when new incentives are announced?
Don't have a handle on how Hyundai does things, but is a $2000 incentive or very low APR reasonably likely?
Also, on a slightly off topic matter, I'm a little concerned about the lack of dealers here in New Orleans. There is only one, a branch of a large local dealership with a lot of lines. It's a poor relation; the Hyundai facilities are not too impressive. They don't even have a Limited in stock. I've been spending about half my time in Houston since Katrina, so it's no problem buying there from one of the 5 dealers within 20 miles, but I'm worried about emergency warranty work that might need to be done here. A friend got screwed when he bought a new Isuzu and the local dealer closed. He had to drive all the way to Baton Rouge for warranty work, about 90 miles.
How is Hyundai doing?
Is there any kind of warranty commitment or law that would required them to keep a dealership here?
Thanks. :confuse:
van
No law can require a dealership to remain in business nor for a manufacturer to maintain a dealership in a particular location.
It's not quite as bad as the Isuzu situation. There is one dealer 35 mi away and two others 45 miles away.
BTW, I assume the road service in the warranty includes towing. Is there a limit on the distance they'll take it to get to a dealer?
re. towing, I assume it's to the nearest Hyundai dealer from the location of the breakdown.

Same deals as last month $1000+$1000loyalty and $500 financing rebates
Ironically my two previous cars were Toyotas and both had to be obtained from other dealerships-one 250 away and the other 150. There are four Toy dealerships within 25 miles of my house and none of them had the cars I wanted and the cars weren't all that unusual.
That's the one advantage of the Toyota's. The Camry's have an socket for mp3 players. The 2007 Avalon's don't, but they kept the cassette, as far as I could tell, even with XM.
It looks like things have gotten worse for Toyota's in the Gulf States region as far as I'm concerned. The wife would really like me to get another Toyota, since they are a pretty known quantity and we had a very bad experience with a Mazda luxury car in the mid-90's. OTOH, the Toyota prices are outrageous in Texas and La. because Gulf States limits choices to a few preselected packages containing lots you don't need to get what you want. I only really want Stability Control and would like leather and heated seats (even in the Gulf South, they are sometimes nice). Had to get them as a package in 2004, but they turned out nice. To get them now around here, you have to get top of the line Camry or Avalon (didn't like the Touring suspension) and with very little discounting. Have even considered flying to Annapolis to deal with with Fitzmall.
The Azera seemed to have everything I wanted, except for that audio port at a pretty fair price. Will have to take the wife to drive all of the candidates. The Hyundai dealership I went to here in Houston is a little bigger and better looking than in N.O., but not tremendously so, but the salesman was very knowledgeable and even offered to let me take the car a few hours. I wanted to drive the Sonata just to see what it was like (not wild for it), and he was busy, so he gave me the keys and said to try it out by myself. This without ever asking for any ID and seeing nothing concrete except my old, beat-up, green Lumina parked in their lot. I guess I looked legit.
Will drive by the other 3 w/in 20 miles to see how substantial they look. I can then take the wife to a better looking one, but will try to buy from the first place
Took her to drive the Toyota's tonight, Camry XLE and Avalon LS. We agreed that the ride of the new Avalons isn't really any better than the Camry and neither is as smooth as our 2004 Avalon which I believe is the quietest car on the road I've owned. I only drove the Azera once, but I felt it was a lot more like our 2004 Avalon than the current Avalons are.
She also thought all the aluminum in the Toyotas was a bit tacky. I did too. Looks like a comparable equipped Camry lists for about 30k with an invoice of about 27 and, according to Edmunds people are paying a grand over that. If it's that hard to deal, it's either the Azera or out of state.
The Azera salesman offered to let me have one for a couple of hours and I plan to take it on the same bad streets as we did the Toyota's to see how it measures up. There's also a sunken manhole cover there, so I can see if I get the dreaded clunk.
As mentioned above, she's tall. The seat bottom can only be moved forward and back and not raised or tilted at all, so it gave her no thigh support. She spent the whole time with her legs pulled up and her feet on the floor. On top of that she has a not great back, so by the time we were done, she was sore. I asked the salesman if any of the packages came with a more adjustable passenger seat, but he said no.
I don't understand why they put the passenger seat so low and didn't allow that seat to be raised, considering how nice they made the driver's seat. Even the Camry XLE has that, or if it doesn't, its default position was high enough to accomodate someone like her.
Well, it looks like I'm stuck with a Camry at a higher price, or maybe an Avalon at a much higher price. It was nice while it lasted.
See you guys around and thanks for the info.
Many cars have sunroofs that cause a vacuum effect when opened. I don't know if your problem is a defect, or just an unintended consequence of the design. I have a car that is unbearable at highway speeds with just the sunroof open. Lowering the rear windows by a couple of inches will probably make the sound go away. It works for my car.

I tried the Avalon Limited, but could not detect an improvement and really got turned off by the exterior and interior styling, esp. the "doors" on the controls.
No other problems. Seats are very comfortable. Finally, a car without hard seats!

What kind of sunglasses do you wear? I wear polarized sunglasses and have no problem seeing the radio display. I had problems in the past with seeing other kinds of LED and LCD displays with polarized glasses. Specifically, I couldn't read my Hummingbird 4X6 Boat Sonar with polarized glasses. If you're wearing Blueblockers or the read colored UV bockers that could contribute to the problem. You might try different sunglasses. If that doesn't work then I would talk to the dealer.
I told the salesperson that I did not like dealers that marked up over MSRP (which they did). I walked in late in the evening and by the time I got to price negotiation, the sales manager had left for the night. I asked them to match the internet price at fitzmall.com (23,504) which included $1ooo rebate & $500 finance rebate. They wouldn't match, but came within a $300. I then asked for the loyalty rebate (I bought an old hyundai off craigslist.org for a lot less than $1000), so my cost after tax/title/tags & buying, insuring and registering the old hyundai was 23700. I refinanced @ my credit union to drop the interest rate by 2% this month. The old car was recently donated.
The terms and conditions on the loyalty rebate only required that you be a current registered owner, so a little creativity and leg work can save most of $1000.
i just bought 07 azera limited ultimate (25) option - sage green for my mother yesterday.
paid 27,250 in kissimmee florida - would like to know if that was good deal?
i'm tickled pink about this car. we've looked for long time and closest thing we've been pleased with was the new 08 C300 MBenz but that was simply too much money for what that car offered.
can't wait for her to see it.

actually, i'm going to buy 2006 azzy with premium and leather package (new)
where are u live in?
Best car I ever bought. No hassle, salesman was very professional, did the deal in one hour and drove the car home.
I wish I could say the same.
The stealership where I bought mine gave me the old "screwed blued tattooed and barbecued" routine.
(Name of that place will be supplied if you email me privately.)
Well worth a private email if it will save you from the same fate.
If yes, I paid 2K more - I'm already ~900 below his invoice.
How can a dealer go that low? anybody know?

That day I must have tested 4 or 5 different cars that where on my short list. In the evening ( 5.31 ),my wife and I went to TOWN Hyundai in Denville ,NJ.,saw the car in the showroom
and were ready to buy. Told the salesman that I wouldn't go over $25,000. He talked to his manager which agreed and told me ,you got yourself a deal.I knew it. Remember it is always
to your advantage to buy a car at the end of the month.
Best deal that I have heard.
I was thinking of giving my wife the Azera and picking up a Genesis when they become available...but after seeing the C300 I may not wait for the Genesis afterall. Yeah I know it's not an apples to apples comparison.....but like they say; "love is blind"
The $27,250 you paid sounds like a very good deal for an 07 Limited Ultimate, despite another poster fortunate enough to get one for $25,000. By happy, the Azera is a tremendous value as an under $30,000 automobile.
Just think about us guys who wanted the first one on the road and ordered it before it was introduced at the dealerships and paid 30k plus tax and tags.
