Re. Discrimination: Not that anything good will come from it as I am sure you are spoiled against the product due to the tactics of the dealer sales manager, you should also send a US Postal Certified letter to Hyundai Consumer Affairs, Fountain Valley, CA.

This dealer may have a history of the treatment you received which could result in Hyundai pulling the line.

I'll bet their is more to this story.....I hope I didn't hurt your feelings

More to the story indeed? ;)

Notice the awkward style of the writers' wording, suggesting that "Inglais" is not his native language.

In his defense, perhaps he does appear young for his age?
But at 38 years, he should not be mistaken for a teeny bopper.

Maybe it was his attitude, and the sales manager thought he was acting like a baby?

Also, doesn't it seem funny that this individuals' first posting is about a supposed problem at a certain dealership,
and in fact that he has just joined this forum the same time that he does these first posts?

Your mileage may indeed vary. Just my personal opinion, FWIW.

what was the 06 azera (trim, miles, condition)? What price did they ask for and what price did you want?
  • nthenthe Member Posts: 414
also for those of you who say report this dealer to hyundai of america, remember this was on a used car, so hyundai USA has no control.
  • nthenthe Member Posts: 414
also, how exactly is this discrimination? Did he say only white people get brochures?
  • dborthdborth Member Posts: 474
Re 623: Wrong, if indeed the allegations are true regarding the sales manager, especially if a trend is historical, Hyundai can sure pull the plug and remove the franchise from this, or any dealer.

I love seeing the deals people are getting, Back in Nov 06 getting my 07 Azzy Ltd/Ult for about $26K seemed like a steal. But now that I have it, I think I would have paid even more than I did and still be happy, I like the car so much. Not list perhaps, but $28K for this car does not seem unreasonable.(not crazy, just happy) But more power to those that waited. I am not that concerned about resale and I will typically have a car for 100K plus and at least 4 years, usually 5 or more. Get one and ENJOY :shades:

FWIW: Sundays paper ad for a 2006 Azera Limited with Preferred package MSRP was 28,995 selling price was 20995, that was a really good price limited to 1 car for 2 days only. This was for a dealership in Valley Stream, NY. If I didn't already have a 06 Limited Ultimate, I'd jump on that one.

Anyone buy this as a base model in april or may. How much did you pay before ttl
  • derrelhgreenderrelhgreen Member Posts: 234
I thought the SEs came with factory 16 inch wheels? :confuse:

I was at the dealership yesterday in Glendora CA, and they did a search, and found that there was only one car available
(Vin in the 211xxx range) that is exactly the way I would want one.

Interesting was that they had a Limited with a Vin of 183xxx that had XM. Base MSRP is $27,335.
    The build date on that car . . . Dec 04, 2006.

The MSRP bottom of the Maroney on the one I'd buy IF I could is $31.390

They said that IF they had that particular one in stock, it could be purchased for $26,999 plus tax and license.
They offered to sell any car they had in stock for similar prices, but I want a Limited Power Pearl White with Beige
interior w/XM and the newer group 25 option package ($3100 MSRP) which has the newer (better?) radio package.

They did not have any Azeras with that Group 25 ($3100 MSRP) package in stock, so I could not compare different radios.

    Is this car an Ultimate?
  • derrelhgreenderrelhgreen Member Posts: 234
    Yes Bob,

The car that I saw the printout on yesterday was equipped exactly the way that I would get one IF I were able.

    MSRP with XM $27,335

    With Optional Equipment:

Option Group 25 Ultimate Package 3,100

W1 Powder White Pearl Paint 200

    CF Floor Mats 95

    Destination Charge 660

    Total with Options $31,390

    See:http://www.edmunds.com/new/2007/hyundai/azera/100844225/optionsresults.html?action=2

They told me that if they had that vehicle in stock, I could buy it for $26,999 plus tax and license.

Now whether they would actually do so remains to be seen. :confuse:

I do know of another dealer here in Southern California that will do it I am sure for perhaps even less.

Hyundai Azera Limited with Ultimate Pkg. with 23600 miles on it I bought yesterday for $22795. Moonroof, Infinity sound system with 6 disc changer. All the bells and whistles I could want.

I'm buying a 2007 Azera Limited w/ Ultimate pkg in Northern California. I've gotten almost 10 quotes from dealerships near my house and selected two of them that are offering OTD price $29,250 and $29,050. (Rest of them offered more than $30K/The sales tax in my area is 8.25%) Next week, I'm going to visit the less-than-30K dealerships to begin negotiation. Could any of you give me some advice regarding how much amount I have to offer to them as an initiation price and how to haggle with them effectively. I really need your help since it's my first time to purchase a car in the US. Thank you in advance.
  • joe131joe131 Member Posts: 998
Just because those 2 beat the other dealers by offering to sell to you for less does not mean those two will be the dealers who would actually sell for the lowest two prices of all the dealers you contacted.
You might as well just go make your offer to buy at the dealer closest to you. That one may be the one who will actually end up selling at the lowest price of all.
It really makes no difference what they are now offering. None of the dealers see you as a serious potential buyer until you are in the showroom with your checkbook. That is when you can make your best deal. Not before.
  • floridabob1floridabob1 Member Posts: 1,190
    RE: 637
Make sure that what ever offer you accept is a true OTD offer. No extras for anything.
Be certain that there are no additional charges for programming features such as door locks or EZ exit.
Accept the one from the dealer that you feel most comfortable with.
Warranty service can be provided at any dealership.

Use the edmunds new car pricing to determine the TMV price of the car (including the ultimate package option) and then subtract $3,000. Use this as your initial offer before taxes, title, and license (TTL). As for your final offer, use the lower amount between the Edmunds TMV price, the Cars Direct price, and any email dealer quotes as the maximum you should pay before TTL.
  • rhduke00rhduke00 Member Posts: 129
    diet7up,

Just for fun, I used a Vallejo CA, zip code (94951) to get Cars Direct pricing on a 2007 Azera Limited with the Ultimate package and XM satellite radio. The Cars Direct target price is 27,427 and includes floor mats, cargo mat, and cargo tray. A sales tax of 8.25% would add $2262.73. So if the dealer email quote of $29,050 is a true floridabob OTD price and also includes all the options I mention above, then that quote sounds like a fair price. Nevertheless, I would test a dealer's reaction to an offer of $26,000 OTD and ask him to toss in free mudgards and a Garmin Nuvi 360.
  • floridabob1floridabob1 Member Posts: 1,190
    RE: 642
Does the Cars Direct price include ALL fees, including freight, any dealer fees, or other expenses?
If the total OTD price, including tax, is $29,050 including XM and other dealer provided extras, it is a great quote.
If I were the sales manager and received your 26k offer with your extra "toss ins", I would not consider you to be an earnest buyer.
  • derrelhgreenderrelhgreen Member Posts: 234
    Amen to that! :surprise:

I was at the Glendora CA dealership a short time ago, and they located the exact car we are looking for.
There's only the one vehicle equipped exactly the way we want anywhere in Southern California.

The MSRP is $31,390. I told them we would be willing to pay something less than $27K plus tax and license.
They said that if they had that particular vehicle in stock, that we would have a deal.
They did offer me any vehicle that they did have in stock for the same savings, but I passed.

My wife wants Powdered White Pearl and other extras we want include the Option 25 package, etc.
So any vehicle that is not equipped exactly the way we want is out.

You should be expecting a quote of somewhere in the mid $26K range plus tax and
license depending on your choices of optional equipment, or shop elsewhere!

The prices you have been quoted are right there now, and for you to expect to be able to pay less is not being realistic! ;)

Good luck and please keep us posted.

    :)

Check internet pricing for dealers in your region.

We found that Towne Hyundai in NJ beat Fitzmall's price by over $1K in Feb. That my be further than you're will to go, so check the Hyundai site for dealers in a zip code you would be willing to go to to buy the car. Then check those dealers' websites for internet pricing.
  • rhduke00rhduke00 Member Posts: 129
The prices you have been quoted are right there now, and for you to expect to be able to pay less is not being realistic!

It may not be realistic to expect to pay less out the door than the $29,050 email quote but it doesn't hurt to try. Once you offer a dealer $29,050 there's no place to go but up with that dealer. I recommend an initial offer of $3,000 less than you expect to pay just in case there are factory incentives to the dealer that have been kept a secret between the dealer and the factory. As for the "toss ins", unless you really want a portable GPS (the dealer retails it for around $600.00), probably shouldn't include that. The mud guards on the other hand will help reduce pebbles chipping your paint. If you want the mud guards, at least get them installed for free.

As for being taken seriously by the sales staff. I wouldn't worry too much about that. The dealer's sales people may very well say "no way"; "that's an insult", "be serious"; "we'd loose money on that deal"; "how about an Azera GLS". Hold your ground and insist on a new Azera Limited with the Ultimate package and ask them how close they can come to your offer. If they quote you a price that's greater than your lowest email quote tell them that you already have a better offer from another dealer and unless they can beat it, you'll buy elsewhere. If they ask you what the other dealer's offer is tell them the price of the lowest email quote. Whatever you do avoid, any discussion about payments, make sure floor mats are included, and take the car on at least a half hour test drive over rough pavement as well as on an interstate or rural highway before taking delivery on the vehicle. One more thing, a dealer may quote you a great price on the car and then try and make up for it in the finance or business office by selling you vin window etching, scotch guard for the carpets, extra paint and under body protection, a third party extended warranty, credit life insurance, gap insurance, and financing at a high interest rate. Just say no to any of these "valued customer packages".

    diet7up . . .

Let us be exact here. :D

Exactly which options do you want/need? What color? Which Ultimate package, option 25 or?

The one that is $3,100 or the other one that is less at $1550?

What is the exact MSRP of the vehicles that those two dealers are giving you the $29,050 & $29,250 OTD price?

Many here may or may not know that the license fees in Kaliforneia will add approximately 1.75 percent.
When my wife sold cars, she always added a total of ten (10) percent to the agreed on price to arrive at an OTD price.

Be sure to see the Fleet Manager. Call first to find out his or her name.
Do not talk to anyone else at the dealership, especially that greeter who meets you at the curb and helps you out of your car.
He or she is there only for a sales commission and if you bypass that person, that will save you dinero. :D
The fleet manager knows exactly how much the dealership can and will sell the vehicle.

    Good luck.

    :)

The $29000+ figure sounds fair to me. A couple things. Have them equip the car with a full size spare wheel and tire. If for no other reason, to slightly improve the front to rear weight distribution. The offered Garmin GPS unit is definitely a "top drawer" unit. Probably most importantly, drive the vehicle over various road surfaces as advised in an earlier post. Listen, listen carefully for suspention noises. Hyundai, hopefully, has the "clunk" situation cleared up. I have never had a problem with my Azzie. But a "clunk" would sour me forever! $28200 would be a good starting point. Let us know.

    Diet7up,
Just a quick correction as to the statement by the last poster. There are two Ultimate options, the old one (#04) at $2550 and the new one (#25) with the same options and an upgraded surround sound stereo and tire pressure monitoring system at $3100 list.
Most Hyundai salesmen that I heve spoken with over the phone are not even aware of this as they are strictly looking at the brochure.
I agree with the poster that the only one to deal with if you can is the fleet or internet sales manager.
Hope that this helps. Good luck!
  • bhmr59bhmr59 Member Posts: 1,602
The tire pressure monitor is included in the "old one." In fact, I think it's included on all Azera's. Maybe not, but it's included on my brother's Sonata SE without any option package.

After looking at many new and used Azeras, I have finally succumbed, although I shocked myself by opting for a used Pearl White 2006 Limited with grey leather and Premium Package.

Strange as it may seem, I found the car listed on AutoTrader by a handicapped van dealer. They had taken the car in on trade from the previous owner, whose wife now has to use a wheelchair. They had no used car lot. The Azzie was parked in back of their building, calling out to me.

It just kept getting better...10 months old with a clear CarFax and in mint condition, with a mere 3,582 miles on it.

I called my local Hyundai dealer's service department, to make sure the warranty was transferable. The drone who answered said they would not honor the warranty on a used car purchased from a non-Hyundai dealer.

Smelling a rat, I did what I should have done in the first place...called Hyundai Consumer Affairs and asked them. No problem, they said. Only change is the power train warranty goes from 10 to 6 years. Rest of the warranty is good to go.

Offered the van dealer $19,500 and they accepted.

WAHOOO! Am I a happy camper!

Congratulations. Hope you enjoy your Azzie as much as most of us do. Good price!!!

Also bit the bullet and got a brand new Aubergine Limited/XM with beige interior for $25,599. It had the perfect package with leather, sunroof, power everything, and the upgraded stereo without the frilly and unnecessary memory stuff. Oh, and it had a whopping 6 miles on it. I went to the Nissan dealer right before and told them what Hyundai was offering and they said "we'll convince you to buy the Altima." Well, I got into the Altima 3.5 SE and the salesman quoted $26,500...for much less car...and one that requires high test (does anyone use that term anymore?). I only spent about 5 minutes with the guy before heading straight to my Huyndai dealer and picking up my Azera. And what a treat my first day has been. Got the gap coverage, full coverage for 10/100,00, 5 years of maintenance, and 5 years of tire hazard all for less than a "comparable" Altima.

Or if she was a previous owner , it would be right. Dealers in tx are offering the ltd with ultimate for 26000 + TTL.

Sounds like the Limited with Premium ( sunroof, upgraded stereo ), not Ultimate ( no memory stuff ). I got my 2006 Limited with Premium last year for $25,300.

Not an Ultimate. She stated, "no unnecessary memory stuff."

I just bought a 2007 Limited w/package 25 w/XM($3100) and mats. Plus dealer installed chrome wheels, tint, chrome package, pin stripe, and vent covers. $28000 plus TT&T. I didn't think that was too bad since Edmunds TMV price was $28024 without the extras. The tint's nice here in FL and the chrome wheels really set it off. Dealer was New Port Ritchie Hyundai.

What is chrome package and vent covers?
  • rminorrminor Member Posts: 40
I didn't describe it right. Meant vent visors on side windows. Chrome package is chrome covers on the door posts. That's all I've noticed. They had the package priced at $1699. I paid about $400-$500 for it. Worth that to me for the wheels, window tint, and pin stripe. The other stuff take it or leave it.

    Hi, all

I am looking for 06 Azera Limited with Premium or Ultimate Package. I got a quote from dealer MSRP $20,500. It is 06 Azera Limited with Premium Package and about 23,000 miles. I wanted to but it $19,000, but dealer offered me $20,500. Is it a good price? or more room to cut down the price?

Is there any owner having a coolant problem, mixed up with engine oil?

    Thanks,

I have seen Ultimate packages, with fewer miles listed at under 20k for an 06
I suggest that you try other than Hyundai dealer for used car. They always want top price to support their new car prices.
You might want to check ebay to get some price ideas.

It makes a sense to me. I will check used Azerz other than Hyundai dealer.

I just bought 2007 Demo Azera with Ultimate Package loaded 8989 miles. It's been driven by general manager, but it is a new car. I like to save some money on new car. I saw some awesome deal, but I couldn't figure it out how they cut down the price that much.

    Here is my deal.

    Cash Sale Price: $26,287
    Trade Allowance: $1,270
    Selling Difference: $25,017.70

    Doc Fee: $58.48
    Sub Total: $25,076.18
    Sales Tax: $1,568,82
    License and Registration Fee: $105.00
    Total Unit Price: $26,750

    Rebate: $1,000
    Royalty Discount: $500
    Local Dealer Royalty Discount: $250

    OTD: $25,000

I am not 100% satisfied with this price, but this is my final deal. I hope it will help your negotiation. What do you think?
  • floridabob1floridabob1 Member Posts: 1,190
    RE: 666
It sounds like a fair deal to me.
As the car was a demo, am I correct that your warranty begins now, and that you do not lose the 9000 miles?

Good luck with your new ride!
  • pastorspastors Member Posts: 29
I'm a current Sonata owner and am very happy so my first choice for a new car was the 2007 Azera.

I am in the Chicagoland area. My dilemma is I can't really find what I want, a black exterior with beige interior. This is what I have been offered...

    Black with Gray
    Limited (04 Package w/o XM)
$25393 (includes all rebates) + TTL

    Black with Black
    Limited (25 Package with XM)
$25996 (includes all rebates) + TTL

So... Am I being too picky? :confuse:
