Hi boys and girls I was told they check other dealers , but Limited with the Ultimate Pkg. , mind you this are only 2006 models and the colors I don't want they still have some like , White , Black , Silver and this are without the Ultimate Pkg. Guys I am wating for the 2007 regardless of price. Long time ago someone said avoid first year cars of course this could a myth and apply only to domestic cars . Maybe the state of Florida will be getting some 2007 soon , I hope. Thanks for all the good advice Lou
I saw an eggplant Azera; it was quite nice. I'm surprised that this car is so hard to find in FL. As previously posted, there's plenty of 'em here in the Denver metro area.
It's too bad that your Thanksgiving dinner was not so good No dry turkey for us; every other year, it's a bird-free dinner. So this year I made pizza from scratch.
Lou, I'm hoping to hear from you soon that you're happily motoring around in your Azera! I am thus far very pleased w/ mine. Its first road trip is to Santa Fe, NM in mid-January ... about 800 miles, round trip from the Denver metro area.
Hi Susan , the dealer says this color is hard to get . Right now I am in no rush , if we are spending money for vehicle it better be the way we wanted colors , bells and whistle. BTW my E-mail address is posted feel free to communicate. I love my Lexus but I need to down size , by no means I said step-down , this Azera's are awesome. Your parents will tell you what a great weather we are having in Florida. See yeah Lou
RE 314 Be patient! All dealers want to sell what they have in stock. If they want to, they all have access to computer report that shows stock vehicles at all dealerships, Unless you are desperate, wait for YOUR choice.
I'm in the same boat as you - waiting. However, I'm beginning to see a trickle of '07s coming into FL, according to various dealer websites. I'm providing those I've checked in central FL (near Orlando) who show a limited inventory of '07 Azeras. If they don't loosen up soon, I'm inclined to buy my backup selection, a Maxima.
Hi sloflyer You are absolutely right, I have not look into the Maxima . I need a large vehicle that the rear seat folds down . The Azera meets all my needs. No dealer wants to mention when the 2007 Azera will be here, even my good friend was using the tactics of the usual lying , Their lot is full of 2006 Azera and they want to get rid of these first. I am also looking for the new 2007 Toyota Tundra and 2007 GMC 1500 both suppose to be hitting the showrooms early 07 . Hyundai will have stiffer competition Why is this irrational hold up ?? What happened with the new models coming into the showrooms in October ??? Lou
Lou, my only concern would be that if they have a large amount of 2006's left and the 07's are now beginning to arrive in small numbers, you may be placed in a position of paying top dollar for your 2007 as the dealers will not want to negotiate and discount as heavily as they will on the 2006 models.
I'm sure you thought that out too but thought I'd bring it up just in case. The MAX is a great car and Toyota has the truck world on edge with its scheduled February 2007 debut of the new Tundra. The GMC and Chevy pickups have also gotten good reviews. My neighbor just bought a 2007 Chevy 1500...nice truck but I don't want anything that sucks gas at this point in time with the miles I'm driving. Didn't you say you were getting rid of the Lexus LX470 for that reason too?
I still believe that the week after Christmas before January 1, dealerships will be making strong and agressive deals on everything they have on their lots so they don't carry over into 2007 fiscal year inventory status.
All comes down to how patient you can be and how deep your pockets are...
RE 319 and 320 The Lexus LX470 is not as versitale as a pick-up truck would be , the back of my SUV is as clean as the day I bought it . It is not practical for messy and big stuff. My first option is comfort the new vehicle must be just as comfortable as my Lexus , the Azera fits the bill , the fold down rear seats will help in moving some things. Once again price wise the Azera is in the front of the list. I would prefer the 2007 over 2006. I don't think dealers of Hyundai would stop not give discount on the 2007 if it meant a sale ??? Greed is what keeps them in motion. Lou
FYI - The 07 Azera and most 07 models have arrived and are on sale. Based on your post, it sounds like your local dealer has not received any allocation of the 07s. Try another dealer.
In reply to messages 319, 320 and 322, Cableguy06, we all know what the invoice prices are for both the '06 and '07 - the '07 being $400 more, similarly equipped. Most of the dealers I've talked to seem to be willing to settle for somewhere around invoice (the trick is to get them to go lower). If they don't want to sell me an '07 at a decent price, preferring to sell their '06s first, I walk out and buy a Maxima. I seriously doubt any dealer who wants to stay in business is going to stiff a customer on what he wants simply because he'd like to clear his inventory first. Floridabob1, I didn't look for a specific model. I mentioned only that 2 of the 5 dealers' websites in central Florida indicate that they have one or two '07s in stock, so more are doubtless on the way. Until a bigger selection arrives, I'm not bothering to talk seriously about price to dealers. Joe97, if you've been reading this string, you'd know that no Azeras have been delivered in the southeast, supposedly due to the high inventory of '06s. The first '07s began showing up in central FL only last week, and very few of them, at that.
Luckylou; The Maxima is the only other car I've found that offers about the same amenities and technical specs as the full-boat Azera. If you take a look at a Maxima SL with the Driver Preferred package (sunroof, automatic/memory seats, etc.) you'll find that it essentially matches the Azera, feature for feature. The only thing you have to give up is the adjustable pedals, which didn't bother me overmuch. You do, however, get reverse turn-down outside mirrors, so it's sort of a wash. Unfortunately, it also costs (MSRP, at least) about $3,000 more. Besides the price difference, I think the Azera is a better looking car.
I agree . I love the way the Azera looks, it reminds me of the Black Audi in the movie Ronin with Bob DeNiro a few years back. I check on the Maxima the back seat does not folds down. Thanks for your help. I check a few central Florida Hyundai dealer's web site and you guys are right the trickle has began. Lou
RE 325 The trickle problem is that the dealer can NOT order a particular car model with the color and features that you want. They don't know what they are getting until they receive their allocation invoice. I suggest that you contact a few dealers, tell them what you want, and have them contact you when they get notice of their allocation that contains your preferance. It took 5 weeks for one of 3 dealers to get my Sage Green/ Beige Ultimate.
Thanks floridabob. I did not think about that , yes you are right whatever comes on the truck is what they get. The interior beige is that light color or a dark beige of your Azera. Most of my passengers are of the four legs persuasion. I am leaning toward a black interior instead. Before any decision in colors, I got to see the eggplant and the interior colors. Lou
They make ony one shade of beige, which is a light color. My dog travels with me often, and I find that the leather cleans easily. I use a good brand of cleaner and conditioner, and have had no problems. When we use my friends car that has a black leather interior, you car see every strand of fur when my dog departs. I don't believe that the eggplant was a big seller, so it may be hard to find in the 2007's
Luckylou, I just double-checked the Nissan website and 60/40 fold down rear seats ARE standard in both the Maxima SE and SL. The only time they're not is if you order the "elite" package, which is a pair of rear buckets and a console. Go here: http://www.nissanusa.com/maxima/specifications.html and scroll down to "seating/appointments"
I need to test drive the Maxima . You know that Consumer Reports recommends the Azera but not the Maxima. This weekend I will drop by the Nissan dealer and check it out. Thanks for the info. Lou
Just picked up mine last night during a bad snow storm. Got the 07 Limited/Ultimate package Silver Frost/Black interior. It was literally just off the truck. Doubt they will get many lookers today and only a day or two from the end of the month.
Did a trade in of an 02 XG350L with 76,000 miles and $19,000 cash. Figuring my trade at $7,000 that made the actual cash price about $26,000. Pretty easy in Colorado to get a cash price of $500-$1,000 under invoice. Invoice was about $28,000 on mine. (I also had a $500 for customer loyalty, in addition).
I purchased the XG350L from the same dealership in 02, and have been pleased with how I have been treated over the years (service and minor warranty stuff). BTW the XG350 NEVER had any more that the most minor issues that ever needed attention -- Great owning experience.
Driving it home under VERY SLICK conditions, the car handled, stopped. and turned fantastically well given the conditions. The ESC (electronic stability control, including traction control) clearly makes a big difference. I turned if off close to home, just to check the difference. The computer drives more effectively than I do.
RE 331 Good luck with your new ride. Can you share with us some of the features on the 07 not on the 06? Can the memory seat be activated without the key in ignition? Are the power pedals part of the memory settings. Does the car have "tilt in reverse" side view mirrors? Anything else, other than the lighted side view mirrors?
Memory seats still requires key on (same as in 2002 on my old XG). Pedals are not part of memory, but steering wheel is. LOL, haven't even noticed the reverse tilt issue, my old one did have it.
One downer for me today was driving on a cloudy snowy day, I had trouble reading the new trip computer info on the new dash display. Big instruments are amazingly clear, it is the little computer stuff in the middle of the new display that was hard to see regardless of headlights on or off. I am going to check out whether it is me or the car. (Any experience out there from other Denver folks or whoever else has any snowy overcast day experience would be appreciated).
Went up into the mountains today and so far, driving on serious ice and snow, still amazingly good road holding.
Another "new" thing is the contrasting light colored grey stitching on the black seats. I like it very much.
Also, I was told, but WOULD NOT rely on this, that the XM radio capability would start coming after the first of the year, AND that there may be an available refit to current 07's to add satellite radio (info from service department not sales). In making a deal on a new one, I might suggest putting this in as a condition, that you can refit for either free or dealer cost -- whatever you can negotiate.
On a big positive note, the new enhanced audio controls on the steering wheel REALLY are nice to have.
I had the same problem w/ the dash dimming on cloudy days. Try turning up the brightness on the dash display; it's a wheel (same as for heated seats), on the far left of the dash.
My wipers (set to auto for rain-sensing) make one sweep of the windshield when I first start the car ... though the windshield's dry. Has anyone else experienced that?
For Ultimate package, when wiper stalk position is set on auto (rain sensing), the wiper will make one pass upon starting. If you move wiper stalk up one click, then it will not happen, but you also turn off the rain sensing (sort of like the uato headlights).
FYI, some of the dealers are starting to get used Azeras. Carmax, which is pretty good at getting a midrange price as Azera Limited with 4k miles for $22,900.
I went to the dealer as soon as I noticed the "dry sweep" when starting the car. My dealer said thats the way it works. I really don't like that. As I don't always keep my windshield spotless, it seems that it's needless wear on my wipers. I have since left the wipers in the off position.
First of all I would like to thank everyone on this board for their opinions, they had a great impact in me purchasing my 2007 Azera. I was shown a few 06 "Demos" in the colors that I wanted but I held out for the 07 limited with premium package ( I liked the newer gauges on the dash).overall not a bad deal I paid $26,500 for the 07 limited with premium package in silver/ black....picking it up on monday...what a long weekend this will be
I'll preface what I say by saying that I currently sell Hyundai's and have been for the last 4 years. So if anyone has any questions about anything Hyundai, shoot.
A lot of people have seemed to express some distaste about dealers not "honoring" the advertised lease deals. First, the lease commercials you see (not just for Hyundai but for almost anyone) are almost always net deals for the dealers. Also a dealer does not have to give you what the commercial says, they can if they want to but of course will always try to get you to pay more like any capitolist business will. I still have yet to understand why people get angry when a legitimate business wants to generate a positive profit. Also Hyundai has different programs (sometimes VERY different) and rebates for leasing vs purchasing. To the dealer a lease deal is really no different than a finance deal and as a buyer you should negotiate a lease just like a pruchase. But don't always expect to get the same deal on a lease as you would on a purchase or vice versa. What I mean is if you just spent 2 hours negotiating a purchase and you told them you were purchasing and financing with them and you beat every penny out of the deal don't say at the very end well never mind im gonna lease it or ya know what I'm gonna pay cash instead. Because the deal can and very often will be different. It doesnt mean the dealer is lying to you, the programs may very well be different. Also sometimes (well really most of the time) if you go in one day and get X deal on X car and the guy tells you 72 times "if you buy the car today the price is $XX,XXX" and then you come back a week later or a month later and expect to get the exact same deal and then get mad at the dealer because you think they're lying to you. The programs may very well have changed or it was a last day of the month deal and they were wiling to take a short or loss deal to get a unit for a dealer cash quota. Which they may not need a week later. And yes programs can change mid month at any time for any reason without notice, up or down.
I hear a lot of people on this board and many others as well as people in the showroom and service department expressing negative feelings about not getting the window sticker estimated fuel economy. I would like to shed some light on this topic.
EPA estimates for city mileage are based on 10 min cycles of being at a full stop and slowly (under 3k rpm shifts) accelerating up to 45 mph and slowly decelerating back down and repeating that cycle. Most of the time this is done on a roller or a dyno not on an actual road. EPA estimates do not account for starting the car up in the driveway with the remote starter and letting it run 10+min before you get in so it's nice and toasty, it's great to hop in a nice warm cabin but it's a huge waste of fuel. Instead just start the car let it run 30-60 seconds and then just drive modestly until the engine reaches operating temperature, it will warm up quicker and use much less fuel by being driven vs just sitting idling. EPA estimates also do not take into account the idle time of sitting at traffic lights, stop and go traffic or the very common heavy footed light to light acceleration. These estimates also do not take into account changes in elevation, ie driving up and down steep hills which will always lead to lower fuel economy.
Highway estimates are almost always based on travelling a sustained 60mph. Not 75+ like everyone seems to have to do.
Several other factors can have a huge impact on fuel economy. 1) the biggest factor will always be your driving style. The Azera, Sonata, Santa Fe and Entourage all have mpg meters in the trip computer, keep this on all the time and watch what it does when you reset it on the highway and keep your speed at 55 for the entire trip. You'll be surprised at how little time this will add to your trip. Also know too that as you increase speed the decrease in fuel economy is not linear.
2) vehicle tune. this also includes tire pressure. keeping a clean air filter, oil and trans fluid will all contribute to etter fuel economy.
3) time of year. if you live in a climate where it can get very cold expect to get lower fuel economy when it is cold out because of 3 major factors. 1) cold air is more dense, dense air is thicker and creates more resistance so the vehicle has to work harder to push the vehicle at the same speed thru air at 20 degrees than it does at 70. also modern engines have very advanced ignition and timing systems as well as very advanced control of air/fuel ratios. the engine runs off the air it pulls in from the atmosphere when this air is very cold being more dense thr air has more oxygen by volume than warmer air more oxygen means the ecu has to compensate by increasing fuel delivery to maintain the air fuel ratio. also in the winter time people have a much greater tendency to idle the engine a lot longer at startup than in warm weather also any modern engine has a cold start function so the engine will idle at a higher speed when cold. idling at higher engine speed means more fuel burned
If youhave ever found yourself complaining about not getting the estimated mileage try this. When accelerating around town do not let the tach go over 3k rpm. When on the highway use the cruise and keep the car at 55mph. When you have a long downhill descent coast in neutral. When driving in the city use the shiftronic and always keep the tranny in the highest gear it will allow. Do that and watch your mpg soar.
What floridabob said is basically true. A Hyundai dealer cannot order a specific vehicle. The new car mgr gets a list of vehicles to choose from and depending on how many vehicles Hyundai wil let you have is what you get. Every dealer is different, bigger volume dealers get more cars smaller volume get less, It's called turn and earn. For example if they are not making say Sage Green right now, guess what you won't be getting a Sage Green, no matter how much youre willing to pay you can't get it. Want a real life example...go and try to find a 5spd 07 Sonata right now. As frustrating as it is for you not being able to get the exact specs you want think about how aggrevating it is when you have a customer sitting at your desk willing to pay you $2000 over sticker for the silver on lt grey UP Azera...that you don't have just to have the color he wants. Sir the vehicle you want does not exist. I'll pay you full sticker. Sir the car you want in the colors and equipment you want is not being made. Alright I'll give you $1000 over sticker. Sir if I had the vehicle i'd be writing the order as we speak. How much do I have to give you to get the car. Sir you could give me $1M and I still couldnt get you the car.
After that conversation I kinda knew how the customer feels when my mgr who after being told "Well I really don't like the car" What if I knock $2k off? Price doesnt matter I dont like the car. What if I go $1k below invoice? It doesnt matter I don't like the car. I'll go $2k below invoice and up your trade $1k.
You stated that if anyone has any questions about anything Hyundai, shoot.
Referring to another topic in this forum "Azera Front End Problems". I am about at the end of my rope regarding the front end problems with my Azera. I have contacted Consumer Affairs no less than 12 times and of course I have my "case number". I have had a meeting with my service manager and a district parts and service manager.
I have two questions. Is your dealership (service manager) aware of the "dreaded clunk" and can you shed any information/resolutions on the "dreaded clunk".
I cannot put into words the frustration, the angry, the rage, the disappointment, and the shame I have felt over the purchase of the Azera (I picked up the car on Aug. 1st and to this day I have not told any of my brothers and sisters as well as my parents of the purchase - honest).
While I understand that you are a salesman, I am genuinely interested in what you have to say and am happy to provide more background if you would like.
the shame I have felt over the purchase of the Azera (I picked up the car on Aug. 1st and to this day I have not told any of my brothers and sisters as well as my parents of the purchase - honest).
Really?? Then why buy a Hyundai?? Try having the front struts replaced on your own dime if it is causing you so much pain. Hope things ease up for you.
RE: 350 Really! Others have reported having had the struts replaced with no improvement. Why do you suggest that a consumer purchasing the flagship model car of a company that is the largest in South Korea spend additional money to repair a warranted defect in the product. Hyundai has been made aware of this problem since it's introduction.
Let’s suppose for a moment that you discover that your new Azera’s passenger side view mirror retracts half as far as the driver’s side view mirror. You drop your Azera off at the dealership to pick it up later in the day. When you arrive to pick up your car the service manager looks you in the eye and with a straight face says “your mirror is fine – it is consistent with the car”. You argue that is not the case but to no avail, and you go home knowing that’s not right. You decide to call Consumer Affairs the next day and you are treated warmly. The person you talk to gives you a case number and promises to get back to you in a couple of days. More than a week passes by before Consumer Affairs calls you and says “Mr. Chilliwack we have reviewed your complaint and we have determined your passenger side view mirror is consistent with the car”. Impossible, it only retracts half as much as the driver’s side! You stand your ground and Consumer Affairs arranges a meeting with you and the district parts and service manager – now there’s hope. Some time later you drive to your dealership to meet the district parts and service manager. Your Azera is taken into the service bay and afterward the district parts and service manager approaches you, looks you straight in the eye and with a straight face says “your mirror is fine – it is consistent with the car”. You argue that is not the case, but to no avail. You go home thoroughly PO knowing, that’s not right. You pull into your driveway, open the garage door; notice that your wife has taken up more than her side of the garage with her vehicle. You retract your side view mirrors to give your Azera a little more room to enter the garage. Because your passenger side view mirror retracted half as much as driver’s side mirror you hit the side view mirror against the side of the garage. This would have never happened if your mirror would have been fixed and you’re sure, that’s not right.
You call Consumer Affairs again to report your experience with the district parts and service manager and argue your point. They promise to call you back right away. A week goes by, ten days go by. Finally, tired of waiting you call, and ask for the person you talked to ten days ago – he’s no longer with the company. You recite your story all over again and the “new guy” promises to get back to you right away and he does. He recites the district parts and service manager’s line “your mirror is fine – it is consistent with the car”. And you know, that’s not right.
So, you go on . . . and on . . . and on . . . fighting the fight . . . because you know . . . that’s not right.
I have a couple of suggestions for you. One, try not to answer questions not directed to you, it makes you look foolish and two, if you insist on answering questions not directed to you try to answer them intelligently. Your rather insensitive comment comes across as less than intelligent, lacks character, and is counterproductive.
jmjk, here is a possible answer for you. It is from the "other" board.
Over on the Hyundai-Forums board someone just posted the following message. He took his 06 Azera in for its first oil service and had a discussion with the service manager regarding the noisy front suspension. The service manager indicated that Hyundai was aware of the problem and that they are engineering replacement shocks/struts that may be in stock within a months time. The significance is that Hyundai is aware and apparently doing something. This is exactly what transpired with my Sonata. Patience folks! Don
jmjk, further clarification. The exact words of the poster.
Here is the exact message on the "other" board.
"Yea, my service invoice says customer complains of suspension noise below 40mph, and then on another line, says warranty fix in progress from manufacturer".
What more can you ask? It is being dealt with and as I have said PATIENCE folks!
RE :350 "I have a couple of suggestions for you. One, try not to answer questions not directed to you, it makes you look foolish and two, if you insist on answering questions not directed to you try to answer them intelligently. I can't believe your arrogance! The purpose of a forum is to participate by sharing one's thought and feeling pertaining to the topic of that forum. You are not required to accept those thoughts. If you wish to have a private discourse with someone, it would be more appropriate to e mail them. If you would like to discuss or give me suggestions about my intelligence, character or sensitivity, feel free to email me.
RE: 359 It is not a matter of hurting my feelings. It is the rationale of a Forum that you appear not to understand. As I have stated on several occasions, I have no problem with the Service People. They have attempted to correct all deficiences. They have received no support from the Corporate staff, and report their frustration as well. My great disappointment is with Hyundai, the largest company in South Korea. Although they have produced this model in Korea for years, under the Grandeur label, they have NOT given all dealers any information pertaining to this problem. If your local dealer is giving you different information, I would appreciate your getting his source, so that I may pass in on to my dealer. I was a manufacturer for over 30 years in my past life, and never required one year to resolve a problem.

I don't believe that the eggplant was a big seller, so it may be hard to find in the 2007's

You know that Consumer Reports recommends the Azera but not the Maxima.
This weekend I will drop by the Nissan dealer and check it out. Thanks for the info.

Got it at Arapahoe Hyundai.
Mine handled very well this morning, despie snowy and icy roads. My commute's 18 miles round trip, on a road that's semi-rural area and hilly.
I too drove with and w/out the ESC and it makes a noticeable difference. Thank goodness for it!
Good luck with your new ride.
Can you share with us some of the features on the 07 not on the 06?
Can the memory seat be activated without the key in ignition?
Are the power pedals part of the memory settings.
Does the car have "tilt in reverse" side view mirrors?
Anything else, other than the lighted side view mirrors?
Hi, Jaymagic:
I had the same problem w/ the dash dimming on cloudy days. Try turning up the brightness on the dash display; it's a wheel (same as for heated seats), on the far left of the dash.
My wipers (set to auto for rain-sensing) make one sweep of the windshield when I first start the car ... though the windshield's dry. Has anyone else experienced that?
Yes, the steering wheel controls are wonderful!!
Cheers,
Susan

$24,350.00 INCREDIBLE !!!
What a wonderful time of the year to buy a car
Worked out great for me, got the color I wanted to.
I'm sure you all have been through that before.

RE: 344
Please send some words of hope.
JMJK
Really?? Then why buy a Hyundai?? Try having the front struts replaced on your own dime if it is causing you so much pain. Hope things ease up for you.
Really! Others have reported having had the struts replaced with no improvement. Why do you suggest that a consumer purchasing the flagship model car of a company that is the largest in South Korea spend additional money to repair a warranted defect in the product. Hyundai has been made aware of this problem since it's introduction.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment.
Don
Here is the exact message on the "other" board.
"Yea, my service invoice says customer complains of suspension noise below 40mph, and then on another line, says warranty fix in progress from manufacturer".
What more can you ask? It is being dealt with and as I have said PATIENCE folks!

I can't believe your arrogance!

It is not a matter of hurting my feelings.
