I'm in Bay Area and want to buy 2007 Limited with Ultimate package. Today, I got a quote of $27,200 plus tax. What you guys think about that?
One more very stupid question. Can I get tax advantages from trading in my current car in California as well? The dealer I met today told me that I should pay sales tax for the price of new car($27,200 * 8.75%)even though I trade in my Accord.($16,000 was the dealer's suggested trade in value.) Originally, I thought I need to pay tax only for the difference($27,200 - $16,000). Is it really true in CA?

    RE:413
Unfortunately, I believe that the dealer is correct. CA does not allow the value of the bartered item to be deducted from the gross sales price of the new purchase when calculating sales tax.
  • sundevilssundevils Member Posts: 100
The price you pay is the following:

    Cost of new car +
Sales tax on price of new car +
Title and registration (CA DMV web site can tell you this cost)

From the above amount deduct the cost of your trade

    Which dealer and what state

    RE: 415
According to the CA satatutes, the trade in amount cannot be deducted from the price of the new purchase for sales tax computation.

OK, got a quote today for little over 27K. Adders would be for taxes, tags & title.

    3 questions:

    1) Do you think I can get another 1K reduction?
    2) I really want XM radio. Does anyone know when the dealers start getting the models with satellite radio?
    3) Also want nav but since the Azera does not come with this feature, how does the portable nav get installed? Is it one of those flexible arms that stick to the windshield or are there other options?

    Joel,

Hyundai has joined forces with Garmin and Hyundai dealers now sell the Garmin NUVI 360 portable NAV system. Suggest you negotiate with the dealer to include the NAV free as an incentive for you to buy the car.
BTW, a Hyundai Accessory Web Site shows the 360 on sale for $591.99

I don't have a NUVI 360 because Hyundai and Garmin didn't team up until after I bought my NAV. Mine is a Street Pilot i5 and it came with a windshield suction mount as well as an adhesive backed mount for the dash (I never used the adhesive mount because I didn't want to do anything that might deface my dash). I did use the windshield mount for awhile but then ordered a friction dash mount which cost $26.00 from the Garmin web site. The friction dash mount is much better than the suction windshield mount. Also the friction dash mount is legal in both California and Minnesota whereas the windshield mount is illegal in both of those states.
  • joel410joel410 Member Posts: 3
Thanks for the advice rhduke00. I'll bring the info from the Garmin website to the Hyundai dealer. Where does the friction dash mount attach to on the dashboard and did you do the installation by yourself?
  • appetiteappetite Member Posts: 2
Hi. Thanks to everyone who shared their information, I was able to strike a deal with my local Chicago area dealer for an 06 ultimate at a reasonable price.

The car price was roughly 24,300 and my total OTD price was 26,100.

    Good luck with your purchase!

    P.S.
One tip I would like to share is do not rely on emails. (Am I the only one?) I've been relying on it heavily, and the deals got me nowhere.

If you are focused on 06 Azera, find the dealer list (about 20) from Hyundai USA website and start calling them up. They will respond with what color/trim they have in stock. (Be careful if it was a demo model. You should get further discounts.) You should be prepared to be flexible with the colors as well. If you happen to like the color they posses, just offer them your best-case OTD price and ask if they can match it. Typically you'll be 2k~3k off, but don't worry. Some dealers will explicitly say that they can't beat it. Let them go and focus on the ones that replied positively. You'll have a much narrower list to concentrate and will not spend several weeks in the cold visiting one dealer to another. (This place is below 0F these days..)

My two cents.. hope it helps.
  • rhduke00rhduke00 Member Posts: 129
    joel410,

There is nothing to install. A GARMIN Friction Mount that will fit the NUVI 360 is model (010-10908-00) w/Mounting Arm. It is a portable and adjustable mount with a no-skid weighted bottom. Because the mount is portable you can use it in more than one family car or in a rental car. You just place the base wherever you want on the dash. It won't slide around or fall off. You can lift it up off the dash any time you want and put it in the glove compartment or take it with you when you leave the car.

Sounds like you got a good price. Can't believe how much of a difference there is in taxes and fees.

This Site does a comparison. The 360 is the one that a Hyundai dealer can sell you.

    RE: 428
The 660 has FM transmitter so the sounds come thru the stereo system. It also comes with the traffic receiver built in as a standard feature. The display is slightly larger.
I have not spoken with anyone who has actually used either the 360 or the 660.
I would still prefer an in dash unit with all of the features such as nav., blue tooth, Ipod support and display, as well as a good sound system. I would also want it to operate using the steering wheel remote switch.

Hyundai will probable offer incentives on the Azera shortly.
I do not believe that you can purchase a Limited without a sunroof.

According to the 07 Azera Brochure, the Sunroof is not standard on the limited, its optional with the Ultimate Pkg or Premium Pkg.

thanks for the quick reply gentlemen.I checked out a few cars and was down to the hyundai and the 08 ford sable.I hate spending money on extras I don't want.I havent drove the new sable but I did like the montega except for the loud cabin noise , not much but after driving the lucern it was annoying. the 08 sable is suppose to improve cabin noise.the other major need was the read seat can be put rown to allow carrying long objects .I have that on my buick regal and found it to be very handy.
    thanks again kgat and bob.

Our local Hyundai dealer in Murrieta got three Azeras in on Saturday. I happened to be there when the truck delivered 'em.

One Powder White Pearl SE, and two Ebony Black Limiteds.

Hard to understand that none of the three vehicles, the only Azeras they have in stock, have any of the optional packages:

04 Option Group 04 Ultimate Package $2,550 or

    02 Accessory Group 02 Premium Package $1,550

So here are three examples of Azeras without sunroofs.

I leased silver color 07 Azera Limited with Ultimate Package yesterday.

Sale Price: $25,958 (after $1000 Lease money)
    Total Out-the-door : $2,000. (including XYZs.. & $500 Hyundai owener royalty rebate)
Lease Term: 30 month, 12K mile per year, No Security Deposit.
    Monthly Payment: $262 + Tax. (29 times)

On the Lease Agreement, residual value is higher than my calculation, and finacing charge is less. :)
Other competing dealer told me HMFC will reject the deal... :( Is it really going to happen?
  • jack_spratjack_sprat Member Posts: 29
Could everyone post the dealer name and state when posting price.

Hi Appetite, Can you tell us the name of dealership ?
  • azlimazlim Member Posts: 9
I'm not sure how widespread this is, but the dealer I am talking to in Jacksonville, Florida says that Hyundai is offering a $500 rebate on the 2007 Azera models. This is not the loyalty rebate, but rather an additional incentive. So, if you have been on the fence about buying, this might be the time.

Of course, you might want to wait until the last couple days of the month, as deals tend to get better as salesman strive to maximize their monthly sales numbers. ;)
  • floridabob1floridabob1 Member Posts: 1,190
    re 440
There is a Hyundai rebate on the Azera in the amount of $500.00 for the month of February.
  • joel410joel410 Member Posts: 3
How do you know that there is a $500 rebate for 2007 Azera? There is no such mention of this rebate on the Hyundai web site.

I, too, was skeptical of the rebate, but the salesman insisted it was being offered. He wrote up a proposal for a Limited Ultimate, faxed it to me for my review, and I accepted the offer ($1,100 discount plus the $500 rebate). He called later and said there was no rebate (other than loyalty or military), but that he would honor the price.

So, no rebate on the 2007 Azera at this time I guess.
  • floridabob1floridabob1 Member Posts: 1,190
    RE: 442
Just re read the rebate offer, and you may be correct. The $500, although listed on Edmunds and other sites as a February rebate, may be just a loyalty discount.

I have leased 07 Azera couple of weeks ago. The dealer called me the other day, and asked to me to sign on a revised contract.

The dealership explained me that the HMFC reviewed the contract and made corrections.

The revised contract has some new numbers. Few of them are not effecting me at all. However, there are two items will cost me eventually.
    (1) The Deposition Fee of $400. It was 'N/A' on the original lease contract. I am planning to return the car at the end of lease term.
    (2) Excess mileage charge was changed from $0.18 per mile to $0.20. It is small, but...
Should I sign the revised lease?
  • pegasus17pegasus17 Member Posts: 536
The disposition fee of $400 must be paid at lease turn-in regardless of wear and tear on the vehicle. Your dealer tried to pull a fast one on you and I would call him on it. If they won't pay it out of their profit, then perhaps a compromise fee is in order. Worst thing that can happen is you turn the car back in; after all you don't own the leased vehicle, HMFC does. just my .02
  • jack_spratjack_sprat Member Posts: 29
you are being scammed by the dealer. Tell the dealer you are not willing to make either change. Tell them to pay the $400 themselves and to give you a cash discount up front for the $0.02 change based on how many extra miles you think you may drive it( eg. If you think you wil put on an extra 10,000 miles then ask for $200 cash). If they dont agree, you are entitled to all your money back ( no deductions for milage driven)and they get a used car to resell ( at least a $1000 hit for the dealer)
  • floridabob1floridabob1 Member Posts: 1,190
    RE:446
If it were me , I would NOT sign a revised contract.
The dealership would probably not give you a revised contract if they found that their profit was too great.
I'm sure that the lease was checked by the Sales Manager and Finance Manager prior to them delivering your car.
Unless the monthly rate is very low, and you are a very low milage driver, even $.18 per mile for excessive milage is high. Most leases that I have had in the past, were structured at %.10 to a maximum of $.15 per mile for the excessive milage.
Many dealerships absorb, or build the return fee's into the monthly lease fee.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,604
At some point, you will have to sign another contract, if the one you signed includes terms that Hyundai Finance doesn't offer. Otherwise, HMFC won't approve it, and you won't have a car. (Yes, they can come get your their car).

However, you can negotiate with the dealer to absorb some of those costs. Because, the other option is you walk away from the deal. Will they be willing to knock $400 more off the price? You won't know until you threaten to kill the deal.

The one option you don't have? Ignoring them, and assuming your contract is valid.

    Hi All,

I'm in the market to buy a new car and just saw the Azera. Looks great, roomy, and Hyundai has a great warranty. However, my wife likes the Kia Amanti, which also appears to be in the same size car family with ample room. Can't say I am crazy about the Amanti's styling, but it does appear to have a nice V6 engine and good list of standard features. Both vehicles are in the ballpark for me price-wise; but I don't have any feel on Kia as a company... but do have relatives who have Hyundai's (Sante Fe), and seem to like them. A big positive for me is quietness -- I don't like a lot of road noise in a ride. One thing I have read about the Azera (in the forums) is that there has been noted a "clunk" noise from several people. To me that is disturbing to hear that occurs on a new car. Appreciate any input anyone can provide relative to the comparison between these two cars.

btw -- if I'm way off-base between the two, go easy on me as this is my first post :-)
  • pegasus17pegasus17 Member Posts: 536
I believe he said he has the car for 2 weeks already. What's done is done. Perhaps you need to take a chill pill.
  • sundevilssundevils Member Posts: 100
Why in God's name are you leasing your car? There isn't a credible financial planner alive who will stand up and say, "Leasing is a good financial move."

Acquisition fee, disposition fee, excess mileage charge, excess wear and tear, security deposit, capital cost reduction, down payment ... good God, just buy the damn car (and pay cash).
  • floridabob1floridabob1 Member Posts: 1,190
    RE: 450
    I disagree with your position
about having to sign a new contract.
Hyundai can't simply disavow a signed contract entered into by an authorized dealership at whim, especially if funds have been transferred and delivery has taken place,
  • joel0622joel0622 Member Posts: 3,299
Yes they can. Every Dealership in the world has "Subject to" verbage some where in there paper work. What that means is that the contract is Subject to being accepted by a third party. In this case the third party is HMFC.
  • chilliwackchilliwack Member Posts: 189
They would make YOU abide by any contract you signed that went in their favor, so should they. Make them eat it or void deal and return car.
  • floridabob1floridabob1 Member Posts: 1,190
    RE: 455
The transaction has been consummated. One party cannot unilaterally alter the agreement.
  • jaymagicjaymagic Member Posts: 309
I would strongly recommend the Azera. One, it is a newer model. It handles better and has more power. It will have better resale (guessing based on large number of great reviews). More luxury features than Amanti. Stronger dealer network than Kia.

I looked at Amanti, when I had my Hyundai XG350, and I even liked the XG better than Amanti (ride, performance, quality). My 07 Azera is another world above my old XG, although the XG was a better car than critics who hated it styling would accept.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,604
Well.. the contract hasn't been consummated until it is approved by HMFC..

I'd bet that language is in the contract, also.. I'm not giving legal advice (as I'm not qualified), but I have leased quite a few vehicles.. The contract isn't done, until it is approved..

Which is no different than a finance contract. You can sign the deal at the dealer, take delivery of the car, and they can still come back and say they can't get you financed at that rate... even after all parties at the dealership have signed.

The thing to remember? Whatever you think is "right" won't matter... The car belongs to them, not you.

After reading these forums for the last three months, yesterday I finally bought a ltd, ult, powder white.
Except for the exterior, interior coating I fell for($599), the otd price was 30,023. which included the 7% Sarasota county FL sales tax, title and registration. The dealer was Jenkins Hyundai in Bradenton,FL
My only bargaining chip was the identical car on Ebay offered by Great Lakes Hyundai in Streetsboro,OH for27,483 plus a$275 documentation fee(plus,of course, taxes , title and shipping) Jenkins added the routine $600 charge for whatever. I drove the car home (33 miles) at 75 mph before reading the manual which suggests babying the car for the first 1200 miles.
Thanks to all the contributers to these forums for their many insights.

After months of thorough research, I finally bought a sage green/beige 2007 Ultimate on Friday, February 23rd in Jacksonville, Florida from Key Hyundai. I shopped online and by the time I went to the dealer, all the paperwork was ready and there were no sales pitches (I got financing though a bank and had my check in hand). It took about forty five minutes to sign the papers, go over the features, and to take a test drive. Here is a breakdown of the cost:

    Sticker price: 30,520
    Options included in sticker price:
    Floor mats - 85
    Cargo tray - 90

    Discount from MSRP - 1,568
    Dealer prep - 199
    Sales tax - 1,829
New tag, title (good for 12 months)- 222

Out the door price - 31,204

Price comparisons (includes discount, floor and cargo mats; excludes tag, title, prep, and sales tax):

    Edmond's price:30,253
    Kelly price: 30,106
    My comparable price: 28,777

The Azera is an excellent value and on par with cars costing 3,000 to 5,000 more. I highly recommend this car to anyone who wants comfort, features, and value.
