    Also, is this a good deal?
    Lease 2019 XC40-T5 R-Design - $46,125 MSRP (I believe it had the Premium Package as it had blind spot monitoring)
    $2k Trade In + $2k Down Payment
    Monthly payment of $448

    Initial offer was $636 monthly with $1,000 trade in.
    Sales rep said the residual was 50%.
    Side note - did not like the sales rep. He was not trying to make a deal. Told me to try Honda or Toyota lol I mentioned the lease deal advertised on the website and he said you can't believe what you see on the website. I went there after work and they close at 8:00 pm so at 7:58 he started wrapping up and encouraged us "think about it" as he stood up to walk us out.

    No idea how the deal was broken down more than what I listed. First time buying/leasing a car and have no idea what I'm doing :(

    Is the residual % applied to the MSRP minus money down?

    Is the residual % applied to the MSRP minus money down?

    The number the dealer needs to provide is the adjusted cap cost - this is the negotiated price, less incentives, plus any taxes and fees you are not paying up front.

    Residual is calculated against the MSRP - bottom line number of the factory window sticker.

    Lastly, we do not recommend using trade equity or cash down to lower the payment - that money would be lost if the car is stolen or totales. Just first payment and registration costs.

    Hi. We are looking at a 2019 T5 R-Design that may officially be a demo -- it has 100 miles on it. Would this still qualify for current leasing numbers and incentives? If so, can you please provide (36/7.5, ideally). Also, if it is indeed considered a demo, what roughly should be the target discount from sticker?

    I don't think 100 miles will qualify it for a demo; if it does, it won't affect the residual all that much, I should think

    Not the original poster but a question on incentives for the better informed: If I live in NV, where I will register the car and pay tax, but am looking at leasing from a dealer in AZ do I qualify for the NV lease cash or is it the AZ "no incentives"?

But in reviewing the last few posts, why is that Volvo offers significant incentives in 070xx and 902xx -- opposite sides of the country -- but no incentives in 604xx for the same vehicle? It can't be demand -- surely that's higher on the coasts. Or am I think about it wrong.

    Last question first - our numbers come from Volvo Finance, but not publicly available.

    We don't know why Volvo decides to include incentives in some part of the country but not others. Would love to be a fly on the wall of the meeting between the sales & marketing teams and the bean counters.

    Hello! I took the plunge and signed a lease on a 2019 XC40 over the weekend so I thought I'd share the deal that I got. I don't think I got the best deal out there but I also don't think I got the worst......

    2019 Volvo XC40 T5 Momentum w/ Vision package, panoramic sun-roof, and upgraded 20" 5-Spoke Black Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels
    It was a loaner vehicle so it had 2,800 miles on it.
    Zip code 07755 (NJ)
    12k miles per year
    36 month lease
    $395/month
    $2,200 down = taxes + first month payment + DMV fees + doc fee
    $1,000 trade-in on my 2006 Hyundai Sonata

    - I can give a bunch of other numbers if that helps:
    MSRP on dealership website = $41,945
    Carfax retail value based on VIN = $38,290
    - Figures from my lease agreement:
    Gross Capitalized Cost = $32,358
    Capitalized Cost Reduction = $1,325
    Adjusted Capitalized Cost = $31,032
    Residual Value = $20,424
    Depreciation and Any Amortized Amounts = $10,607
    Rent Charge = $3,612
    Total Base of Monthly Payments = $14,220

    I went to 3 different Volvos in NJ and got several different quotes. This was the lowest probably due to it being a used vehicle even though it was advertised as new on their website. I'm sure objectively this is not a great deal as I know someone with a RAV4 $38k MSRP paying $340/month with nothing down BUT as far as the deals (or lack thereof) on the XC40 go, I'm hoping this isn't too bad.

    This is the first car I've ever leased/purchased so was kind of winging it. I still don't fully understand how all of the numbers tie together so let me know what and how I could've negotiated further so I can learn for next time!
