I think next time we'll roll in taxes but we were really shooting for a target monthly payment without actually putting cash towards lowering the capital cost (although perhaps paying tax up front is exactly what we did lol). That said, the law in my state says that tax must be collected up front so I think we had to pay it.

Also, I think because they marked up the MF, they had the option to waive the disposition fee but they didn't so I might have lost there too. To be honest, I'm not 100% certain. At the end of the day, that was the car we really really had to have so whatever; we got to where we wanted to be. I'm ok with the dealer making money too; hopefully I'm in a better position next time!

To the other dude: the '19 X2's are already being delivered (mostly M35i's right now as far as I can tell). The best deal is going to be an '18 that's been sitting on someone's lot for a long time. Find at least 5 you'd be happy driving and then start sending emails and offers. You'll hit on one of those five... use the VIN to look up the production date (google bmw vin lookup) - add a couple months to the prod date and that's about when it hit the dealer lot. As you start getting numbers on all of them, start asking questions, use the leasehackr.com calculator to get you in the balpark and start playing with selling price and MF to get where you want to be.

Even though the tax is collected up front, you can choose to add it to the selling price and make it part of the monthly payment. Yes, the payment will go up, but in the unfortunately possibility that the car is stolen or totaled, you aren't likely to recoup any of the prepaid tax.

The disposition fee is paid at the end of the lease, and only if you don't buy or lease another BMW. If you are talking about the acquisition fee, it can be waived, but there is a bump to the MF to do so. Better off paying it.

All that matters, in the end, is that you got what you want, for a price you were comfortable with.

Thanks for the correction on taxes and how they work them into the lease; just increase the selling price. Makes sense. We did consider the risks with paying the taxes up front but in the end I expect this one to be a bit harder to total (we have been burned by a totaled lease before).

Yes, you're correct again. I meant acquisition fee. I think we probably got screwed there; I assume they double dipped on the bump in MF and not waiving the acquisition fee? Who knows.

I'm a RWD sedan or coupe BMW guy (although the kids think I'm uncool for liking autos, DCT and SMG) but I totally dig the X2. This was for her but I'll admit, the M Sport X part was my personal requirement because they look so much cooler and add a little more edge to the suspension - they're completely different than the X1 and the family haulers like X3-X7. I'm honestly a little surprised/saddened they're not selling well (that's the impression I got anyway). They're just so cool.

Have you checked with IFS to see what happens if you make your four payments early? That may not allow you to turn the vehicle in early, without penalty. And, you'll still be subject to disposition fee,etc.

Pasted wrong sheet sorry, lol.  The sale price is 36000.  For some reason my phone wont allow me to paste updated one.  I will check on early termination penalties.  I know I will have to pay a disposition fee.  I can also retain vehicle but pay extra insurance.  If I pay off lease will they ask for car back, ill need to check with infiniti financial.
