I agree with you with walking away on that deal, you can do better as can be seen on this site by other consumers.

I am going to take a trip out to Oakhurst with my friend this month to see how well they will negotiate if you want to join in for a group deal of 3 truck sales I will be happy to let you know when we plan to go ?
Did you mention Joe's deal when you went ? If so what response did they give you ? I brought sideways3 deal with me to Freehold and they said no way possible and since they could not confirm the deal they would not come close to that number of 41.2K

also you can always wait out until August when they are looking to bring in the 2011 and sitting on these trucks

This is a modification to my original post - I realize now that I should also mention the price I paid included body molding around entire RX, two line pin stripe, all weather mats for cab and cargo area, tinted driver and passenger windows among other things. Lastly, it should be noted I waited over six weeks weeks to take delivery. Apparently even with a bad economy these vehicles are is high demand and you may have to wait. I was spending a lot of money and decided that I wanted the car the way I wanted it and it was worth the wait.

Thank you Tyler, but the salesman actually called me on Saturday to see what I wanted to do. He was surprised when I told him to keep his RX because I've decided to buy an Acura TL. I think I have finally convinced myself the RX is not the car for me so this week I'm going to get the TL. Ray Catena guys in NJ were very helpful but again when you say I want to order the car well no deal just MSRP. This was going to be my first new car and first SUV, but at least I'm still going to get a new car. Happy shopping RX10 customers but this guy is out.

I am on the verge of wiring funds for a new Lexus to an out of state dealer, when he tries to pull out of the deal we've agreed to. He cites Lexus corporate policy to not sell to clients from other states. He says the reason is that Lexus wants clients to have the "Lexus Experience" and pick up new cars from the dealer, rather than buying and shipping.

If this is true, then the "Lexus Experience" stinks. I can only get the configuration I want from out of state. I can’t believe that Lexus’s focus on customer service would mean that a customer couldn’t get the car he wants. The “Lexus Experience” has got to be better than Ford’s old “you’ll get what you want as long as its black.”

Have you experienced this? Is Lexus corporate forcing their dealers to not serve distant clients? Or maybe my dealer got cold feet?

    Thanks.

I think the wheel size is 18" but the tire is fatter so it shouldn't cause problems.

I got the red one this afternoon from Long Lexus in CA. Exact same package as yours. I think the MSRP was about 46k. I was hoping to pay no more than $42. The dealer's initial offer was $44,800. I laughed and said have a nice day. He called me back and asked me what I had in mind.

I showed him carsdirect.com and told him I could get the car for $43.500. He went back and forth a few times and settled at $43,000 even. That's around $1,200 over invoice but had to relent because this is a new year model and this package was hard to come by apparently. I called a few dealers in the area and no one had the color/.package combo I wanted.

So I think $42,282 is a good deal. Maybe you should tell him you would settle for $42,500 and that's your final offer. Oftentimes I would tell them that and walk away, only to have them call me back the next day. You should try that since the month is almost over.

I am a paitent man and number conscious (being a CPA). I would have waited till December if it wasn't the baby that's coming.

$41k is an impossible price for that pacakge. That's around invoice and Lexus will not sell a brand new model around that price. Despite the economy brand new models are still expensive and RX is one of their best selling models.

You could ask for $500 over invoice for an IS, since those cars are EVERYWHERE and the newness factor is gone. I still recall Lexus asking near MSRP when the IS first came out.

In short your deal is fine. Dealer now know people do online research and they appear to have some type of collusion going where they all quote the exact same price. This happened with BMW. They all offered me a "final" price that was exactly the same.

Sorry to ramble but I hoped I helped. Love the Lexus. Hate the buying experience.

I am looking for a 2010 RX 350 with NAV, comfort package and park assist. I live in Reno, NV. Any ideas how much I should pay. I contacted the dealer in Reno and they are basically not willing to come off the MSRP. I can drive to Lincoln Hills in California or any other dealer near Sacramento, CA. Is it true that Lexus won't sell across state lines, as other posters on this forum have said? I have been told that the RX's are selling like "hot cakes". Is this true?

    Hi Joe,
I'm in Central NJ. and I am looking at the same car as you, fully equiped It list at about 55K and dealer invoice is 49K. It does have to be ordered from factory and will take about 3 months. Ray Catena discounted the standard model (list 46+ K) about $4,000. That was without negotiating. I'm pushing to get the car for close to dealer invoice.
The salespeople are not too interested in a factory order since they will not get commission until delivered to you. It really is not much more work for them, other than to write up the order. One guy at Ray Catena said I would have to put down $5,000 on a special order; complete nonsense.
I'm curious about another post that mentioned new options soon. Does anyone have anymore info.

PS: I had a 2005 RX which I thought was one of the worst cars I've ever had but this new one overcame the objections and really stepped it up a few notches with the technology. I drove it twice and was very impressed.
  • johnlaurjohnlaur Member Posts: 2
That "no out-of-state" is just a sales ploy. I'm talking to about 4 OFS dealers and none has balked at selling me the car.
  • tyler70tyler70 Member Posts: 82
    Hi John.
I believe it was my that mentioned more cars are coming. I recently looked into buying it thru a car broker, and she was the one that told me that after checking with a few dealers. she said Lexus are now making more cars with more options now. Up to now, it is very difficult to find any RX's with Mark Levinson or Head up display or park assist, but she said you will start seeing them soon (maybe w/i the next few weeks).
I am a little concerned about your 2005 RX. Like what kind of problems did you have with your 2005? Have you doen enough researches to see if 2010 has fixed all these problems.? I have a ES 330 and I love the way it drives, extremmely comfortable and smooth, I know the suspension on the 2010 RX are much better, but wonder how it is compared to my ES ?? I dont mind bying another ES again, except I dont like the interior of the current ES ....
I am trying to wait until at least Sept or even until December to buy my RX, but I am still researching.
    thanks

Lexus will definitely sell out of state. I bought mine from another state in northeast a couple of months back.
  • bond8bond8 Member Posts: 33
tyler70, The main benefit of the 19" wheels is cosmetic. A general benefit of larger tires is that they offer a smoother ride compared to the smaller tires. When going over potholes they cover a larger area of the road and hence you dont feel the small potholes since you would be driving over the, However the difference between 18" and 19" isnt much. I got the 19" wheels and I can tell you the look is really nice.

Johnlaur I spoke to Flavio at Ray Catina he seems like a nice guy who is willing to sell cars, but if you order they say MSRP and nothing else. At least Lexus of Lehigh offered me 2% off MSRP. Good luck with the order but for me I'm getting the Acura TL on thursday.

That's a flat out lie because I'm from Washington state and I purchased my RX350 last November from a Northern California dealership, since it was 3K cheaper at the time (compared to my local dealerships). At first, I was on the verge of wiring the funds over, but Lexus Corporate had a 0.9% financing deal at the time and the dealer in Cali had me pre-approved before I flew in to pick up my car. Therefore, if you are willing to pick-up your car in Cali for a good deal, let me know and I'll give you the salesperson I worked with. It was an honest and straight-forward experience I had.

Can you please list all options/accessories you got on your 2010 rx.
    Thanks

I am interested in what others have found with the 350 with respect to gender of buyers. When we were looking at the car a couple weeks ago and the sales guy thought the car was for my wife he commented that she would love the car and that "90% of the RX350 buyers were women". Do people know if that is really true? Not that that matters all that much since I do like the car, but I am just curious if others have heard that too.
  • rparisrparis Member Posts: 368
I have driven my RX since 2001, really like it, and don't care, that as a guy I might be in the minority. Who cares as long I enjoy the vehicle?

    Hi si 2009

Thanks for the info. One other ? did you get the wood steering wheel and shift knob? Sounds like you got a geat car. How do you like it so far? Was the salesman/dealership easy to deal with? If so what were the salesmans initials (no aloud to list Name).
    Thanks so much .

Just took delivery of my third RX, a 2010 AWD w/Nav, Premium, Comfort, wood wheel/knob, tow pkg, auto start...and I'm all man. First was an '04. Back then the target customer was female. Today's RX features sheet metal that is more muscular, a firmer ride...and technology that is gender neutral but very appealing.
  • rparisrparis Member Posts: 368
How do you compare your previous RX vehicles with the redesigned 2010? I am driving a 2001, works great, and I am debating if I want to purchase a 2010.

Also, what was the MSRP and final price, excluding taxes, fees etc of your new vehicke.?

    Thank you.

    Hi, degirl and chrisny

I have wood steering. Mine is black. I love it. The salesman/dealership were very nice and helpful. I worked with SS. He even helped me setup my phone-pairing function. I love that feature. He also helped me get better loan rates. Great experience with them! I called other dealers. Freehold's offer is the best one I could get. I sold my old car on last Saturday. Actually I was in a rush to get a new car. So I end up delivering my old car and getting my new car in NJ at the same day!

My first RX was an '04 and I found the car to be reliable, comfortable, predictable and not very exciting. I was coming out of a BMW X-5 which is much more truck-like. I really never considered any thing else to replace the '04 but the new iteration of the RX. I liked the look, the nav system was upgraded and, again, the car proved to be highly reliable, excellent on gas mileage (for such a large vehicle), comforatlbe, predictable...and not very exciting. Coming to the end of my lease I looked seriously at the M-B 350GLK, the Volvo XC60 and the Audi Q-5. I loved the Q-5, liked the Volvo and was not very excited about the M-B. I drove the 2010 RX and noticed that it was larger (higher ,longer, wider), offered a firmer yet still comfortable ride, was a great deal more responsive in handling, and generally more exciting. I got in on the RX lease retention program and pulled the trigger. I'm glad I did. The new interface with nav, audio, climate, etc. is nothing short of brilliant. The interior is well laid out and I find it attractive. Gas mileage has improved slightly and so has accelleration. I like the 55/80 cubes of available cargo, highest in class, and the new more masculine look. I have no reason to expect anything less than the mechanically reliable Lexus experience. As to the finances, MSRP was $47,100 with Comfort, Premium, Premium Audio,Nav, Tow Prep, Wood steering/shift knob, cargo net, remote start and wheel locks. Final agreed upon cap cost was $44,052. 36/12,000 lease at $614. :)

    Hi si 2009

When I built your car on Edmunds site the MSRP was 44,393 and that does not include the cargo mat, cargo net and wheel locks. Those would increas the MSRP to 44,618. Any idea why the difference ?
Also where there any dealer fees in addition to taxes, tags, and registration?

    Thanks again

    Hello,

Purchased a 2010 RX350, AWD, Nav, Premium Pkg, Comfort Pkg, Wood & Leather, 12 speaker premium audio for Nav, Tow Prep Pkg, 19' wheels. MSRP was 47,285 (including 875.00 delivery, dest. charge). Paid 43,730. Financed balance after trade at 5.5% for 60 months.

This was at Kuni Lexus in Littleton, Colorado.

    Best regards,
    Bob

Got $2750 off of vehicle with MSRP of $47,266. Could have done better in a larger market but no one else had Park Assist and wouldn't have had "Lexus Experience". Vehicle had comfort, premium, nav. Also, was in a hurry. Nice vehicle so far, but lots of gizmos! Thanks to all that posted...big help. Know I didn't get the best price possible but feel I acted with more understanding of what was possible than otherwise would have been possible without this forum. One lingering question I have is just what dealer cost really is. Various sites cite different amounts including a $14 report I ordered from Consumer reports which shows over $6k including $700 holdback. Lowest shown was about $4k. Many showed about $5500. Happy shopping and good luck.

Hi, I'm in WA state too and I've been looking to purchase a 2010 RX 350 and was considering purchasing it in CA and driving it back. Please send me your contact info or if you could send the dealer's info I'd appreciate it very much! Thank you!

Thanks to people who contributed their experience. Greatly helped me with negotiating my new purchase. Bought the 2010 RX350 last Saturday with AWD, Nav, Premium Pkg, Comfort Pkg, Wood & Leather, 12 speaker premium audio for Nav, Tow Prep Pkg, cargo, wood knob, remote starter for $42,350. MSRP was $47.2K (minus the remote starter was $46,825), I had offered $42K (minus the remote starter) to three different dealers in central NJ and no one came back with an offer except Ray Catena in Oakhurst. Great guys to work with, had the selection to chose the colors (got black and black). Everything was done over tthe internet/phone so by the time I got there, car was ready to be picked up. Highly recommend this dealership.

    Hi:
I am about to sign the following lease and need to know if it's fair.
    2010 RX 350
    10k miles per year
    $43,285 list
    $39,800 sell
    $585.00 per month
$1804.00 out of pocket to include $585 first month, $700 bank fee, $274.00 motor vehicle, $238.00 documentation, and the balance is tire tax.

I have never leased a lexus so I am not sure if all the fees are standard. Please advise as soon as possible as I must make a decision in the morning.
    Thanks,
    JON from NJ

They make a nice Black too. Enjoy it!!!

I am still working on deals and pricing around, also my friend is doing the same as we are both looking for the same options. He got an offer right off the bat for $42.8 from Bayridge so I may actually end up leaving the Catena dealerships after years of dealing with them.
Waiting to the end of the month is definitely the way to go because they want those sales in that monthly count.
I am looking to trade in my current RX2004 or was going to sell it on my own since the dealer really lowballed my truck trade in value.
Good deal to sell your old one and drive off the new one same day, perfect planning. Lot of luck :):)

    I'm in the market for a certified pre-owned RX350.

I've located several in the central to eastern PA area. All are 2009 models with 13K-18K miles. Most of the asking prices from four different dealers are in a very narrow range of about $36,000 - $37,000.

What should I pay for one of these vehicles in an all-cash deal?

Based on other research I'm considering opening with an offer about 8% to 10% below the dealer price. Am I in the ballpark?

I'll appreciate any advice based on your experiences. Thanks.

I have been looking for an AWD 2010 RX in the Miami area. There are very few AWD cars in the region. So far the best deal I could get are between 3k to 3.5k below MSRP. Can anyone confirm me if I can go lower than that in this region ?

I received an offer $5k below MSRP but this was on a loaded 50k vehicle.

I am trying to get an AWD with premium package for under 40k.

Thanks for your input about RX350 deal in Miami.

Dealers in Houston are only offering $1K off MSRP for FWD rx350 and NOT budging. Obviously, they think that have more then enough buyers then supply to control prices.

Not true. I got $2300 off at Westside Lexus

Wanted to give a heads up to the Jersey folks. I recently had a HORRIBLE experience with TriCounty Lexus in LittleFalls. My buddy was turning in a leased '07 RX 350. Spoke with TriCounty all week about transaction--confirmed on multiple occasions that they would take the vehicle and I would purchase it at the residual price (which other dealers confirmed could happen--also confirmed this type of deal was possible with Lexus Finance). I would then decide whether or not to CPO the car (for $2,200) or to buy an extended warranty at some point before the mfr's warranty expired. When we went to make deal today, I informed them I'd decided not to CPO the car (you lose a year on warranty because CPO only has 3 years from purchase--extended Lexus Platinum would get me the last year on the mfr's warranty and then 3 more--also vehicle only had 27K miles on it and was treated well by buddy). They immediately started playing games with me and acted as though they were a low end used car lot (their "offer" was to charge me $110 to detail the car, $450 for a "safety check" and oil change plus $795 in commission--without CPO'ing car!). Would not comply with our agreement (sales mgr was conspicuously absent even after her shift had started, hmm...). Classless organization. Contacted Warnock on Rt. 10 and went there. They did the deal no questions asked at residual. Easy as pie. Classy organization. So be forewarned about TriCounty!!!! On a positive note, would recommend Warnock.

Drove home yesterday a Starfire Pearl 2010 RX350. The experience at Ray Catena Lexus of Monmouth (Oakhurst, NJ) was very pleasant. I dealt with several dealership around me (NYC and Westchester area) and all of them didn't want to negotiate, gave me a price and told me that's their bottom line price. Basically a take it or go somewhere else attitude. Finally decided to drive 2 hours to Ray Catena Lexus of Monmouth (Oakhurst, NJ) and got what I want and a deal that's better than all the quotes I've got.

    - Starfire Pearl with Parchment Leather
    - AWD
    - Comfort, premium, navigation package
    - wood & leather trimmed steering wheel & shift knob
    - cargo mat, cargo net, wheel locks
    - MSRP: $46,825
    - Deal: $42,100
    - Out the door (include sales taxes, tire tax, title fee, etc.): $45,628

I highly recommend this dealership. The salesperson (CM) I dealt with was very professional and was willing to make a deal on the phone/email.
  • wrahnwrahn Member Posts: 45
Congratulations, great deal. Can't wait to until you take to your local Lexus for service. Of course, they will still service it.
  • degirldegirl Member Posts: 45
How do the local dealership treat customers that have purchased vehicles elsewhere and or out of state?
  • lw914lw914 Member Posts: 6
I bought my Lexus ES from another dealership as well and I don't feel they treat me differently. Afterall, the service department is what makes money, they are more than happy to service any Lexus vehicle purchased from other dealerships.
  • chrisnychrisny Member Posts: 27
Congratulations!!! Great deal at Oakhurst and thanks for listing all the info included salesperson you dealt with.

Did you initially deal with the dearlership via internet?
I bought my current 2004 RX there and got a great deal when I purchased this one, waited until end of August and end of stock available which I finds helps out a lot with new models and negotiating

definitely going to try my hand at Oakhurst again, went to Catena in Freehold and they would not budge from $44,5 for the vehicle you bought

thanks again and good luck to you :)
