Looking to purchase 2010 RX350 FWD with premium package anywhere in Texas. North Houston quote was approx $41,500. TMV indicates should be $38,500 in the area. Please advise. Thanks!
I had been dealing with Catena too, but became tired of an ongoing saga dealing with them. I expect more from a Lexus dealer. Everything seemed to be an ordeal and they seemed to have a hard time giving a direct answer and sticking to it. There are too many dealers in greater New York to have to put up with that stuff. Certainly your comment that you are "negotiating" your trade fits this too. As for the onStar type of service, I don't know for sure, but it sounds fishy.
I agree always seems to be something with the Catena dealership and I have to say I am quite surprised because I have bought cars from the Catena dealership before and never had so much back and forth on a sale.
the salesman called me back last night about the trade price but of course I have to call him back to discuss as he put it "details" so I assuming they did not come up with the extra $1k I want for my trade.
I looked up about this Lexus Enform option and do not see how they can say they are not selling any Nav models without it since it is something you have to subscribe to. I am going to do a little more research on this Enform and see what else I can find.
Will keep you posted on how I make out with Catena. Thanks for the feedback
what other dealership have you dealt with? A friend of mine bought his up on 17 at Prestige and got the truck for $42,5K with all the same options I am looking for. Just did not feel like heading up there and start working on trade in value with them all over again
We are in Oregon where there are only 2 dealerships. The selection is very small on the RX and, I suspect, the deals aren't there although I have just started looking.
Is it possible to purchase a car in California, drive down to exchange the trade in and not pay California sales tax? I heard that we would have to have it delivered in Oregon by transport in order to avoid the sales tax.
Longo since you are a salesmen can you verify for me this question: Can you purchase the RX with Nav without the new Lexus Enform system or are all new productions with the Nav coming already stocked with this?
Hi Longo, I am in the market for an RX 350, AWD, Navi, what can you offer me as far as sales price is concern. Also, what kind of a deal am I looking at as far as a lease is concern. Thanks
RX350 2010 total price $46K+ with nav, etc. at an entire $1K under MSRP.
Why are there such good deals in SoCal and other places?
Is it better to pass on the C4C and wait until the end of the year or even to Jan-Feb-March for a better deal? The economy is still down. Why are people still buying and leasing all over the place?
TMV pricing is the max you need to pay. Usually dealerships look at this and do not come below unless you are in luck or negotiate persistently for an additional $250 approx.
Been working between two dealers in the DC area. Looking at a 2010 FWD, premium package with back-up monitor and heated/ven seats. Best deal now is $40,482 out the door. Seems like a good deal (tax is 7%) based on this forum. Thoughts? My other alternative is a 2010 Volvo XC60, but the price is not much better.
I am begining to seriously look at the RX350 (with options, not many) about $43K in NJ...but as I began to research, I noticed that not one dealer posts their inventories, let alone window sticker price. As I see it it is going to be many dealers visit which I find discouraging, since I would like to use my time more productively..how is the rest of you handling this?.....you called the dealers with your wish list?..any help is appreciated...thanks
I went through Costco to get a quote at Putnam Lexus in Redwood City. AWD with premium package MSRP $42,826, invoice $39,085. Costco price is $1,250 over invoice or $40,335 plus T&L. This car doesn't have NAV or the 19" wheels, are the 19" wheels a good feature to have?
I just purchased a 2010 RX350 w/premium package, ventilated/heated seats, and other small options at $2000 under MSRP (46,300-->44,300) at Lexus of Portland last week for my in-laws. Like you stated, there are only 2 dealers in Oregon, and the one in Eugene would only discount 3% off MSRP ("dealer rules for RX"). The dealer in Portland (Lexus of Portland) had many more RX when I purchased it, and they gave me what I asked for, $2000 under MSRP for the least expensive RX in the lot. I was sick of car shopping, and Portland is a very competitive area to shop for cars (no sales tax, maybe?). Ask for the Persian car dealer, Kaz, and he will take care of you. He was pretty straight with me, and we could've been in and out within 45 min, if not for the clunker.
There is so little inventory that I am pretty sure I will simply wait out the hysteria. The rumor is that the C4C will end very soon or has already ended...who knows...good deals for some but what a circus!
I figure that the C4C cash essentially goes directly from the taxpayer to the dealer since the dealer doesn't have to discount as much. What I don't understand is if it is possible to purchase in, say, San Francisco where there is more competition and then ship the car for, say, $600 in transport fees to avoid the CA taxes.
That would be worth the trip especially when there will likely be more inventory to choose from in a few months.
 <==== That's what car shopping makes me feel like!
I contacted Longo Lexus in El Monte and used hsmyers2002's information to get a quote from the sales department. However, I could not negotiate as good an offer. It was my dealer of choice because of proximity, but their price was beat elsewhere. Surprising to me, since they claim to be #1 of sorts. Car: 2010 Lexus RX 350 FWD Options: NV, PM, CP, FT, WU, EK, C1, GN, WL Color: Obsidian on Parchment; Tungsten on Black MSRP sticker: $45,847 Lexus invoice: $41,432 Edmunds invoice: $40,187 (no C1, GN, WL) Longo's offer: $41,400 ($4,447 off MSRP, $32 under Lexus invoice)
I did not purchase since I received better offers (under $41k) elsewhere. Once I settled on another dealer based on convenience, I asked them to beat my best offer, and they did so willingly by $200. I negotiated over the phone/online, agreed on the price with the dealer, and signed and took delivery in person. This all took between 3 - 4 days.
Car: 2010 Lexus RX 350 FWD Options: NV, PM, CP, FT, WU, EK, 3T, C1, GN, WL Color: Smoky Granite Mica on Black MSRP sticker: $46,106 Lexus invoice: $41,459 Edmunds invoice: $40,187 (no 3T, C1, GN, WL) Signed Deal: $40,700 ($5,406 off MSRP, $759 under Lexus invoice)
I believe this was an awesome deal! At least slightly better than hsmyers2002 and socal777. One dealer was even bold enough to beat any price I had and include basic scheduled service for two years (valued at $1,200), but I did not go with them, because its location is inconvenient.
In my experience, the more popular colors are no longer available on lots. For whatever remains, dealers are willing to give great deals on the first generation 2010 models (Base MSRP FWD $36,800), which is what I got, since the second generation 2010 models (Base MSRP FWD $37,250) are expected to arrive on lots in September 2009. The Lexus Build Your Own RX350 site already reflects the second gen MSRP and slightly enhanced options. In the end, the car is the same except for the minor enhancements and options. I did not negotiate on the second gen since I was ready to buy immediately, but wonder if dealers would give the same concessions and prices on them as first gen.
I recommend buyers contact internet sales departments, negotiate via email or phone, then leverage your offers.
I did exactly that back in 2003 on a 2004 RX. No price negotiation back then on the east coast. Lot's of dealers and heavy competition out west. RX was shipped from CA to NJ for around $800, 4 to 5 weeks. Certificate of Origin was Fedex'd to me. I went to motor vehicle and paid local tax. No California tax was paid.
I am planning to purchase a 2010 RX 350 AWD with Black/Parchment, NV, CP, PM, WU, Tow Prep & 19 inch Alloy wheels.
As per edmunds/kbb/truecar the invoice is close to: $41,535.00
I have been calling many dealers in California and they quote for $200-$500 above invoice. However there is a catch. Their invoice price is much higher than the invoice I found elsewhere. According to them the invoice for this configuration is $43,1xx.00!!
When I mention to them their invoice is way higher than the ones I have and ask what is included, they are not willing to discuss about invoice anymore and start talking about MSRP. Could it be that their invoice is jacked up some how? If I am purchasing a car from them then can I ask them for a break-down of the invoice to see why it is much higher?
The dealers so far include Longo, Park Place, Crown lexus, Putnam etc.
Any ideas why this could be and how to deal with this? I see someone just bought a similar vehilcle below the invoice price (that matches to Edmunds) at Longo. Ihave been talking to the Internet departments at all these places but doesn't seem to help.
I know the so called "2010 RX" has been around since like March/April of 2009. Lexus should have called it 2009 1/2. But since it was designated as the 2010 model year, how can Lexus come up with a "2nd generation 2010 RX" before the year has yet to start? What will be the difference with the now old "1st generation 2010 RX"? This is going to be confusing a few years later for pre-owned market.
I dont think there is 2nd gen RX. There is an increase in price because Lexus just added the "Lexus Enform system" to all RXs. Other than that there is no change in the car.
I just emailed Longo Lexus and was informed that even though I won't license the car in CA. I would still have to pay 10.5% sales tax. Does this sound correct and comments?
No, that does not sound correct. The dealer issues a California non-resident temporary tags. You pay tax in the state where you are licensed and are registering the vehicle.
got a discount of $3,500 from MSRP and $4,500 becuase of my clunker.
i feel that i could have gotten more discount but, they seemed to be hesitant gving more because i have a clunker. They're giving me all those problems about CFC paperwork, wait to get paid etc excuses.
I signed the deal today for the truck 2010 RX 350 with Nav, Premium, Comfort package, 12 speaker audio system, Wood Steering wheel and shift gear, wheel locks, all weather mats and the Lexus Enform MSRP 47,407 Deal made for 43,200 plus taxes and $249 doc fees and $190 in DMV fees for transferring my plates and registration
Did not get a good deal on my trade of 2004 RX 330 with less $45k miles on it, only got $15K for the trade in due to prior rear accident listed on Carfax...so they used the Carfax issue as leverage on their side to not come up on the trade price.
Think I got a good deal on the sale price and settled for my trade value they gave me just because I was ready to make the deal and tired of looking around for a fair trade value.
Good luck to everyone else and hope you all Enjoy your new RX's
Good deal for $800. I figure that SoCal to Oregon shipping is about $600-$800 these days. That would be worth it if the best deal is $1K under MSRP due to lack of competition.
 <==== still feel like that after going through test drives and brochures and TMVs and everything for the last month or so. This is NOT fun.
I am shopping for 2010 RX 350 and I live in DFW area, too. Did you go to the Sewell Lexus in Dallas? The price you paid is very good. Did you go through a lot of bargaining to nail the price? Do you mind telling me which sales who you purchased the RX from?
New cars delivered in California are assessed California sales tax.. The only way to buy in California without paying the tax, is to have the car delivered out-of-state.
Loaded w/rear ent. MSRP 50,000. Offered 48,000. Anyone else buy car with these options, and if so could you share your experience? What is a good counter offer to start negotiations?
That is interesting to say the least...I thought all states taxed just about the same way...I an Nj and I okanning to buy from Fitx automall in MD and according to the sale people there...I will get a temp driving plate to get the car from MD to NJ...and then when I register the car in NJ I will pay the NJ tax then....according to them the same happens with NY,CT,MA and the states that the had done business with...you guys shoul move EAST...lol...good luck to all...great forum.
I'm in the san francisco bay area and getting invoice + $500. I hope they can do better than that. Since if they are selling at invoice, dealers are making around $3K.
I just put a deposit down on 2010 RX 350 FWD. Base Price $37,250. Backup Monitor (rearview mirror); 19" wheels; heated and ventilated front seats; Premium package; Wood and leather trim steering wheel; cross bars. Total MSRP of $42,764 which includes $875 of "Destination Charges" They accepted $39,000. What do you think?
Looking to close on a 2010 RX350 AWD with the following options: CP, ER, EY, PM,TO, WU, C1, WL Agreed on $44747 with destination fee included, best I can tell this is 400 over invoice, $5k under MSRP. Tax and tags are extra. Good deal?
the best offer i've received is $1800 off msrp. even had the knoxville dealer arrogantly aver i would have to pay sticker if i bought from him!! please share the dealership's name that's giving deals like that. i'm willing to travel to save a few bux!!
I just purchased a 2010 RX350 In North Carolina. Stay away from the Knoxville Dealership, they are arrogant and condescending and will not give you any kind of a deal. Go to Raleigh or Charlotte if you want both nice and helpful people who will give you a good deal and work to help put you in the RX of your choice. Greensboro and Winston Salem better than Knoxville but not near as good as the other two NC dealers. I purchased from Raleigh and will give you the salesman's name if you send me an email.
I put a deposit down and have a deal signed by the manager at Germain Lexus. I will be closing on the deal in mid-Oct when we return to Naples for the season.
Had a question. My wife is going to buy an RX, basically fully loaded. Edmunds MSRP is $50,850 Invoice is $44,456 TMV is $47,685.
Problem is, there isn't any around, so the local lexus dealer would have to "order" one. What kind of room do I have for negotiations on such a deal? What is fair to offer as a starting price?
Comments
Good luck.
If you are seriously looking for an RX 350, please send an email to me at LexusBuyer@Hotmail.com and we could work together.

The package I am looking at has a MSRP of $47K - what can you get me at Longo.
I would also consider an RX400h.
