Thanks. How does the lease bonus work? Because our local dealer is only offering $1000 loyalty bonus since we have a 2016 XC90 coming off lease. 

The lease bonus is a factory to dealer incentive, which is reflected in a lower selling price.

Oh, that's good to know about the mileage being prorated to 1k/mo. Thank you for that info! I don't have any wear and tear that I'm aware of.

9 months ahead of my lease ending (at the 25-month mark), I'd project my mileage to be 33.75k vs. the prorated 25k. This would mean an overage of $2187 at that time, which would devalue any incentive to pull ahead given it's close to the overage I'd pay at the end of the 3-year lease term.

In that case, I guess I'd need to decide if it's worth buying the car outright to avoid paying the mileage overage. Any tips if that's typically a good or bad idea and what you'd recommend negotiating? I can see us keeping our XC90 for an additional 3-4 years after our 3-year lease ends. (Hopefully maintenance/quality on it won't be too bad after the warranty ends at the 3 year mark. Are owners generally happy with its quality?)

You can't negotiate the lease end price - what's on the contract is the price you'll pay. Generally, that number is higher than the true market value, but I don't keep track of the market for every make and model.

I'm not sure how I'd feel about owning any European car out of warranty.

How much is the dealer expecting you to give them to start this lease?

IL taxes the sum of the payments, and, if not paid up front, is added to the selling price. Same is true for the dealer and acquisition fees.

Ask the dealer what CAP cost they are using for their payment quote, and what was added to the selling price to arrive at that number.

If you take good care of your cars, I would skip any wear and tear package; only the dealer benefits from it.

We would need to know the adjusted CAP cost number (with taxes and fees accounted for), to evaluate the deal.

We don't know the cost of the tire and wheel insurance, but expect it to be marked up - this is a big profit center for the dealer.
