Is there any benefit of doing 36 mo vs 39 mo? Would there be any extra service/costs required after 36 mo?

What about 30 vs 36/39? Is it likely to have to change tires/brakes by 30? If not, what would costs of that be? To compare if increase in monthly payments would be less expensive than tire/brake costs needed after 30 months 

Or do you just do a 39, and if brakes/tires are okay, try for 9 month pull ahead if they have it?

I thought MSDs are protected. but read somewhere that it depends on the Car Finance company 

Volvo includes Gap, so MSDs should be covered regardless right?

They should be protected.

I think any issues would be with your insurance company, rather than Volvo Finance

Residuals are 6% higher for 30 months.

The 39 month term will result in a lower payment.
The rest of your answer is unknowable. You'll just have to estimate the likelihood and/or the cost.
