    12K miles/year

    36/12= 56% residual
    39/12= 54% residual

With $3000 upfront, that payment seems high.

Yes, the payment was too high.

The Dealer had tried to cheat me and had used a higher money factor than the 0.00148 that was quoted to me.

I caught them when I did my own lease calculation using an online calculator.

When the right 0.00148 MF is used, the payment is actually $624 per month for 36 months (rather than the $737/month)

Painful to have to confront such a dishonest dealer.

I wouldn't say dishonest, just greedy.

Remember, dealers are in the business of making money. Sometimes, they go a bit too far in that pursuit.

All we try to do is level the playing field.

If they told you they were using .00148, then that is definitely dishonest.

Yes, they told me they were going to use 0.00148. That's why it's clear dishonesty.

After I caught it, they gave me a BS excuse: the "wrong" button was clicked on the calculator.

Sorry, I missed the part where they said they were going to use the base MF, then marked it up. Most dealers just mark it up and don't inform the customer of it.

Hi, I just went to an Audi dealer in NJ. 2019 premium plus 2.0T with driver assist and cold weatherpackage. MSRP $63K, costco discount of 8% brought it down to $58K. I negotiated it down by another $1K. In addition, they included summer of audi of $1500. I traded in my current car at $5K. Including NJ sales tax of 7%, documentation fees, registration fees etc, the total came to $60K-$5K trade-in for $55K final price if I had to buy.
When I asked for a lease option, they said with no down (I had to trade in the car), 39/12K miles, the monthly lease is $700. I forgot to ask whether $700 included the taxes. They mentioned MF of 0.0015. Not sure about residual. Is the monthly lease calculation correct? I tried calculating using online calculators, but was not able to figure it out. Thanks in advance.

You pulled the trigger on this deal already? If so, won't matter much what we think.

But, if this is a true sign and drive (absolutely $0 from you), then it's a decent deal.

Audi's don't lease well, in general.

Thanks for the quick reply. They didn't have the exact car I wanted, so took an advance of $1000, and I need to pick up the car on Wed. They told me that I can make the decision on leasing or buying by Monday. What do you suggest? $55K + $5K (for trade-in) for a total of $60K all inclusive. Or pay $700/month for 39 months/12K with sign and drive (and leave the trade-in car)? Not sure which is better. Advice please

Also, not sure whether they calculated the lease amount correctly. Previous posts seem to suggest that there have been issues in how the dealerships calculate the numbers, including manual errors

Most dealers use software to calculate the payment - but, in the adage of the industry, "garbage in, garbage out". That's why we're here - to keep the dealers honest with the numbers they use.

    Good morning,

Could I please have the July money factor and residuals for the following:
2019 Audi Q7 Premium Plus 2.0 with a lease term of 36 months and 15K miles per year
2019 Audi Q7 Premium Plus 3.0 with a lease term of 36 months and 15K miles per year

    Zip Code is 07040

Also, just a random question. Coming from years of leasing Hondas and Acuras it’s almost always a 36 month lease but on this forum I’m seeing lots of requests for numbers of lease terms of 39 and 42 months. For Audi, is there another sweet spot in terms of contract length that yields better deals that I’m not aware of coming into the Audi brand?

    Thank you in advance.

Honda doesn't support leases longer than 36 months
While Audi does have lease support for 39/42 months, the numbers are similar to 36 months. They may result in a slight drop in payment, but IMO, not enough to offset the negative effects of leasing for longer.

One caveat. The worse the deal offered from the dealer, the more likely that a longer term will result in a bigger drop in payment.

If you make a bad deal, with a small discount from MSRP, the longer term lease might be advantageous.

I show .00148 and 56%, so the dealer was trying to mark up the MF on you for more profit.

I'd tell them that you won't sign any deal unless you get the base MF.

This quote expected you to give the dealer $5800 in cash? Do you know exactly what that was for?

I don't think we have all the numbers. If I use the MSRP and Adjusted Cap Cost provided, I get $614/mo, even with the marked up MF.

Also, TX assesses sales tax against the entire selling price, and I don't see that number mentioned anywhere in the quote.

Ask the dealer for a copy of the lease worksheet; that might help fill in the blanks.

Hi, Got this offer from a dealer in 77077 , for Q7 Premium plus 2.0
    MSRP : $ 61,370
    Lease : 39 / 10
    Residual : 56 %
    Initial Cap Cost : $ 55,233
    Rebate : $ 4,000
    Cash Cap Reduction : $ 5,825.94
    Aftermkt / Due Bill ( dealer fee) : $ 756
    Maintenance ( Audi Care) : $ 999
    MF : 0.00200
Total Adds to Cap (title and etc ) : $ 1,245.25
    Adjusted Cap Cost : $ 51,609.37
    Base Monthly rental : $ 775
    Cash Down : 0

I didnt accept it , please help to understand the numbers.
What are downsides for 39 month lease VS 36

Here is the complete information from the lease worksheet :

    Lease Institution : VWL
    MSRP : $ 61,370
    Residual : 56%
    Lease end value : $ 34,367
    Initial Cap Cost : $ 55,233
    Customer Cash down : $ 6,440
    Rebate : $ 4,000
    Cash Cap reduction : $ 5,825.94
    Aftermkt : $ 756
    Service contract : $ 999
    Term : 39
    MF : 0.00200
    Total Adds to Cap : $ 1,245.25
    Adjusted Cap Cost : $ 51,609.37
    Base Monthly Rental : $ 614.06
    Tax : $ 3,202.06
    Due at start : $ 6,440

For 0 down payment, monthly lease is $ 775

The $614/mo. number is correct, with that adjusted CAP cost and the marked up money factor.
The $775/mo. with just first payment upfront also looks correct, given the numbers provided.

Are you shopping in TX? I've never seen a dealer fee over $200 there, before. I'm guessing the aftermarket is some other BS charge.
The Adds to CAP are likely the $895 acquisition fee plus DMV/doc fee

I don't see the sales tax broken out anywhere, though. It might be in the CAP reduction calculation, as you have $10440 of working cash (your cash + rebate), and only $5825 in CAP reduction.

The money factor markup adds about $45/mo. (or $1750 over the life of the lease)

Nothing wrong with a 39 month lease, at that low of a mileage allowance and being in TX.
