I could have pushed for another couple hundred less but I thought that was a fair price.

If I could get 28.5 out the door i would take it right now but I cant seem to get anymore out of them. I have already secured Honda financing at 2.9% for 5 years.
How many dealers did you reach out to?
How many dealers did you reach out to?
I have received quotes from 4 different dealers within 50 miles. MSRP is $31,630. Im not sure how to qualify for loyalty. There were no incentives included on these prices but one of the dealers is within a mile from the house and would be the preferred location for all service work.
I would expand your search radius to 100 miles and reach out to more dealers, if I were in your shoes. Let me review your deal, in the mean time.
At those prices, you are at between $2500 to $3380 (without accessories) below invoice before those doc fees.
However, your only post is a link to another car website, so I'm wondering about you.

Sale Price: $23,956
Docs/Fees: 283.50
County Sales Tax: 1939.16
OTD: $26,178.66
How does that look? Thanks!
Your deal is around $2200 below invoice. If the sale price excludes any incentives, I would buy it. The doc fee is reasonable so it is a good deal, IMO.
I'm actually still shopping that sale price around and there are two other dealers in the area that said they'll beat it. I'm not looking to buy until next week though because of time constraints anyways.
Any chance I could do better towards the end of the month?
When you are ready to buy, tell those dealers you will buy today for $2500 below invoice and wait and see what they say.
Good luck.
I am looking to buy 2019 Accord Sport Automatic in Dallas, TX, area. Any suggestions on what should be the best deal for OTD price?
Also, I need the car by mid-August so when is a good time to buy? Now or wait for August?
Thanks!

Thanks for the report!

The link you posted lists the MSRP and invoice price of 2019 Honda Accords. If you have any suggestions about buying a car below invoice without paying outrageous dealer fees or BS charges, be my guest and SPEAK UP. If you have no constructive feedback to provide, then no need to comment any further.
Btw, I do not work for nor am I affiliated with any dealership or car manufacturer. I do not get commission, bonuses or a referral fee by helping people out. I have been providing free advice on this forum for more than 5 years now, helping countless folks get a great deal on a car.
Have a nice day.
I have asked for quotes from multiple dealerships here in Hawaii. We are limited to 3 Honda dealerships on the island I reside on.
Dealership A quoted $28,784.03 OTD...I asked for a breakdown and he said it wouldn't make sense for a breakdown because it would come out to the quoted OTD price he gave me.
This is 2nd quote I received from another dealership;
Retail Value: $29,587
Savings: $3487.00
Selling Price: $26,100 ($920 destination fee included in price)
Doc Fee: $240
Hawaii Sales Tax of 4.712% = $1241.14
Reg Fee: $370
Total OTD = 27,951.14
how does this look? Haven’t heard from dealership 3 yet.
B = Pacific
C = Windward
Right?
Edmunds TMV and KBB says you could probably get another $800 off the selling price. It's still above invoice but that is the paradise tax for you.
Yes, I've been going based off of my research that I've been doing these past couple days from all 3 resources that you mentioned. I know Hawaii is expensive, ugh! You think I can negotiate and have them offer lower? I need help on this. What do you think?

If a brand new model hits the island, you'll be hard pressed to get them to go down to MSRP for it. Not without manufacturer incentives anyway.
If you really want to save, you buy it on the mainland and pay the $1K to ship it to Hawaii. You'll still be thousands ahead than buying it locally.

Accord LX
MSRP: $24,640
invoice: $22,630
purchase price: $20,788 + standard tax/license/etc
no need to buy unwanted extras
The purchase price is the same as the initial quote. Many other dealers did not bother to match this price, and this is just $100 higher than the $20,688 price someone else posted here recently, so I did not try to negotiate.
There is also a $300 incentive for financing, but I passed on it.
2019 Accord EX-L 2.0T Red
MSRP $33,050 including destination/handling
I only got the out the door price $29,186, the color that we want (red) is not available. Waiting for the dealers call. is this a good deal? thank you.
First of all, getting a great deal on a car takes time researching and patience. Sometimes, buying a car at the right time of the year (end of the month/end of the quarter) might save you more money, if the salesperson is looking to meet their end month/end of quarter sales numbers. Maybe the car you want has been sitting on a dealer's lot for a long time and they are motivated to sell it at a bigger discount if you can sign the paperwork ASAP.
If you are lucky to live in a metro area or close to one, then you have more competition from dealers and will usually be able to get a better deal vs someone who might only live in a town without that many dealerships.
Here are few more tips:
- It is always best to do all negotiations via email or phone. I would not recommend setting foot into a dealership unless you are test driving the car or signing paperwork.
- If a dealer is not being forthcoming or something does not make sense/smells fishy, move onto another dealership.
- I personally hate when dealers say: "We will match or beat any of our competitor's pricing". Why can't they just give you their best offer?
- If you come across a dealership advertising a "no-haggle price", do not bother wasting your time trying to negotiate. Trust me on this.
- Do not hesitate to put a dealer on the spot by telling them that you will buy the car TODAY at $XX,XXX or $X,XXX below invoice (Only do that after you have done your research and are ready to buy that day/weekend).
- Knowledge is power - When working on a deal, it is always best to know all the details (I will explain in a sec).
When requesting pricing from a dealership via email, here is the info they should provide:- MSRP of the car (including the destination fee): This is usually listed on their website. If you are unable to find it, ask them - You can check honda.com to confirm that info.
- Sale price of the car (before any incentives): This is the most important number since your sales tax is calculated from that price.
- Any incentives you might qualify for, such as recent college grad, military, loyalty, etc...
- Dealer doc fees: If you live in a state like Florida, where dealer fees are pretty high (more than $800), it could turn a good deal into a bad one.
- DMV fees: License, title and registration fees.
- Cost of any accessories on the car: Some dealers like to add BS add-ons for pure profit. If a dealer is refusing to remove some of these accessories (if you don't want them) or is unwilling to negotiate the price of accessories, then move onto another dealership - I understand that "paint protection" and other similar accessories cannot easily be removed. I would just tell the dealer to find me a car (in the color combination I want) that has no accessories.
At the end of the day, always remember that you are in control of the deal and can walk at anytime. Do not get emotional over a car or a deal. DO NOT just focus on a monthly payment or OTD (Out The Door) pricing, since dealers can sneak "extra profit" for themselves into the deal or move numbers around to achieve a monthly payment.Hence, when asking someone to evaluate your deal, I would suggest posting the first four numbers from the list (MSRP, sale price, incentives and dealer doc fees).
Good luck.
Congrats on the deal.
For example, say you negotiated your best deal with Dealer A for $2k below invoice (your best deal). Dealer B is only able to offer you $1800 below invoice. So you go with Dealer A, and as you are finalizing the paperwork you notice some shenanigans and all of sudden the price goes up. You can "always" fall back on your backup dealership (Dealer B ), as long as they still have the car you want at the price they quoted.
I am speaking from experience.
