You are at about $2270 below invoice. You could wait the last two days of the month to see if the dealer would go any lower. I would shoot for another couple of hundred dollars off.

Have you shopped other dealers? Is this the best offer you have so far?

If you have already signed the paperwork and have taken delivery of the car, then there is no need to ask for feedback. Enjoy your car.

For future reference - If I had purchased this car, I would not have paid for $2k in BS dealer add-ons along with Honda care. What specifically does that 7 year warranty cover? Brakes? I would recommend cancelling it and getting your money back (if you can).

Do you know what their price of the car was? I think taxes and such may impact OTD cost between IL, NJ and VA.

Anderson Honda in Palo Alto, CA

    Accord LX
    MSRP: $24,640
    invoice: $22,630
    purchase price: $20,788 + standard tax/license/etc
no need to buy unwanted extras

The purchase price is the same as the initial quote. Many other dealers did not bother to match this price, and this is just $100 higher than the $20,688 price someone else posted here recently, so I did not try to negotiate.

There is also a $300 incentive for financing, but I passed on it.

Did you pay cash and hence the reason for turning down the $300 incentive? Or did you use your own financing? Just curious.

    Congrats on the deal.
Yes, I paid cash. I could have saved part of that $300 incentive by financing and paying off the loan early, but I didn't really want to deal with any potential problems/fees which would just reduce or erase the actual savings.

I am on the hunt for a Honda Accord Sport. Looking for manual and at this point havent decided if I want the 1.5 or the 2.0.

    1.5
6 quotes all around 23,500 (within a couple of hundred).
I have seen people on here getting it for 22,500. How do I go about getting the dealers to drop another $1000? What is my next step?

    2.0
4 quotes between $27,500 and $28,500. Again I have seen people on here get $26,500.

I have done all communication through email, except one dealer where I went to test drive the two cars. I have been up front with them telling them that I am shopping around at other dealers and asked them for their best price. I don't need the car right now...although it would be nice to have a car with AC again

    Please help!!!

You either need to reach out to more dealers or wait till the last two days of the month. Since you are not in a rush to buy, time is on your side.

Dealers/salesmen who need to meet their end of month quota will start calling you next week.

    Where are you located?

Just picked up my Accord EX 1.5T. Absolutely incredible car. ODO had 101 miles on it so salesman is sending all weather floor mats to my house (since I live an hour away). Ended up right around 2500 below invoice.

    Ended up at:

    Sales Price: 23655
    Fees: 283.50
    Tax 8%

Ended up right around 25850 OTD.

Talked to 11 dealers in the area. 8 were much higher than what I got. 1 was close. Two offered basically the same price. Ended up going with the guy I know (and wanted to buy from). Didn't get the exact color combination I wanted. But to be honest I'm very happy with the Lunar Silver/Grey interior combo. Looks a lot better in person.

NE Ohio has quite a lot of Honda dealers but I've repeatedly found that the ones outside of Cleveland are much better in both service and pricing.

Got a 2019 Honda Accord EXL Hybrid, Silver/Black, north east PA, 27.5K sale prices including 750 incentive for owning Honda, 29.5K OTD. Sales Tax 6% for PA. Financed with dealer which provided another 500 incentive, again sale was 27.5 OTD was 29.5.

The day after, last day of the month I got multiple offers for 30K OTD both from NJ and PA dealers, which made it a sale price of 28K + doc/tags/tax in my case.

So far car is really nice, very comfortable ride. Hope this helps in your price negotiations. Good luck!

Can you tell us the name of the dealership and website please.

I am shopping other dealers, but one dealer saw this quote and said the best they could do was $1063 higher. I sent this quote to two other dealers, but I do not think they will beat it. If it's any help, I live in the greater Chicagoland area.

So with this, I would guess the accessories charges are $2,087.00.

Then the total price with destination delivery is $21,177.33

For future reference, always make to separate the sale price of the car from the cost of any accessories.

Congrats on the car. I can't provide much feedback on your numbers.

I'm a recent graduate and I'll be buying my first car ever. I've got a great job and I'm looking for Honda Accord EX-1.5L trim.
I currently reside in NJ but i'll be moving to NY for job.
I need 3 suggestions from you guys,
    1. Will it be better to buy vehicle in NJ considering NY taxes?
    2. What could be the best deal I can get on this car? I'm planning to target 25K OTD. Is it a good deal?
    3. What bare minimum packages I should get?

Once you decide on a trim, I don't think there are any "packages". Just dealer installed crap. I'd pass on all of it.

It doesn't matter where you buy the car, you'll pay taxes where you register it. If you are moving shortly, I wouldn't want to pay NJ tax, then worry about NY charging you more tax, once you get there. Just wait until you have an address to register the car in NY (and, and updated driver's license), then buy the car.

Considering NY taxes, Is 25K a good deal? I can't go over 25K. Should I chose a lower trim or keep looking for better deals?

I am located just outside of Indianapolis. Thanks for the advice. I will reach out to more dealers.

Here are some things to consider

1- NY tax = 8.875%.....NY doc fee capped at $75
    2- NJ tax = 7.%...........NJ doc fees range $299 to $499
3- $500 rebate for college grad will be deducted off total price of vehicle
4- Round up 10 to 15 dealers in NY and NJ check there inventory for your model
5- Negotiate price the last couple of days at the end of any month ( you'll have the best buying leverage)
6- See prior posts that talk about negotiating / how to make your best deal.

I posted a few months back on best dealers in NY & NJ read thru my messages you will find my Honda recommendations. If you need more help reach out to me.........

What do you guys think about this deal I signed yesterday? :)

    Location: Dallas/Fort Worth, TX

New Honda Accord Sport 1.5 CVT (Automatic) with the following options:
-Honda Protection Package (Cargo Tray, Wheel Locks, and Splash Guards)
    -Honda All-Season Floor Mats
    -Honda Body Side Moldings
    -Lifetime Warranty Window Tint
    -Lifetime Powertrain Warranty w/Unlimited miles
    -24 hour Honda Roadside Assistance
    -First Oil Change is Free

MSRP: $28,872.00 (This does NOT include the body side moldings price)

OTD price $25,100.11 (including taxes, title, registration etc.).
    - Price breakdown:
    - Total price of vehicle with options - $22,344.33
    - Destination & Delivery - $920.00
    - Sales tax - $1454.02 (Sales tax is 6.25%)
    - Temp Tag Fee - $5.00
    - Dealer inventory tax - $55.51
    - Tags & title - $62.75
    - Document fee - $150
    - License fee - $101.50
    - State inspection fee - $7

    Total OTD - $25,100.11

So the price of the car with options and the destination fee is $23,264.33. How much were the dealer add-ons? Without seperating the cost of accessories from the price of the car, we can't tell if you got a good deal.
Not sure about the accessories price breakdown, but the MSRP without options was $27,100.00 and with the options is $29,187.00 (Original MSRP from dealer $28,872.00 + $315.00 for Body Side Moldings).

So with this, I would guess the accessories charges are $2,087.00.

Then the total price with destination delivery is $21,177.33
Can you just post your paperwork instead of guessing?

I don't have the breakdown in my paperwork for the accessories, only the sale price total. That's why I was guessing.
For future reference, always make to separate the sale price of the car from the cost of any accessories.

Congrats on the car. I can't provide much feedback on your numbers.

I got the paperwork from the dealership.

You got hosed on the accessories. $899 for pro pack (what's that). $499 for all season floormats and $399 for tint? That's about $1800 in BS charges IMO.

Since you already signed the paperwork, there is nothing you can do now. Enjoy your car. Next time, come here before signing a deal.

Ok Guy’s here’s my current offer for 2019 Honda Accord EX-L Hybrid
    MSRP $32,640
    Sale Price $28,902
    Trade in. $28,500
    Trade in payoff. $31,117
    OTD. $32,820
    OTD price includes everything.
    No Incentives
    No Add Ons
I know I lost $2,617 on my trade but it’s ok with me, I used the car for 2 years 3 months and did not put any down payment on it.
What do you think guys? Should I accept this.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

Without taking your trade into account, your sale price is about $1024 below invoice. Hybrids are not normally discounted much. Have you reached out to any other dealers? Is this the best price you've gotten so far?

Any reason you are trading a 2 year old car?

Pro pack has cargo tray, mud gaurds, and wheel locks. Yes it's a $1800 mistake signing up with these forced addons. I should have asked to not include them :(

Pro pack has cargo tray, mud gaurds, and wheel locks. Yes it's a $1800 mistake signing up with these forced addons. I should have asked to not include them :(
If this makes you feel any better, your sale price (excluding the more than $2k in accessories) was a great deal. If I am calculating this correctly, your sale price was more than $3700 below invoice (without any dealer add-ons).
Dealer clawed back some of that discount with the accessories.

Hi I'm looking at the 2019 Honda Accord EX-L 2.0T and this is the pricing I got back from a dealer. Now he said that based on some of the incentive he is using I will need to finance through them and I wont be able to take advantage of the special financing that Honda is offering.

    MSRP: 33,040
    Tax: 7% (Florida Zipcode 33330)
Out the door pricing tax included is $29,990
The only other fee he mentioned was tag transfer which I am hearing is $200

Wondering if this is a good price or can I do better?

You are missing a lot of important information. We can't tell whether you are getting a good deal. Florida is notorious for outrageous doc fees. Go back and read some of my previous posts and post back when you have a breakdown.

Ok Guy’s here’s my current offer for 2019 Honda Accord EX-L Hybrid
    MSRP $32,640
    Sale Price $28,902
    Trade in. $28,500
    Trade in payoff. $31,117
    OTD. $32,820
    OTD price includes everything.

Thank you for replying, The reason for trading in is the gas consumption of the Toyota Highlander, 16,500 miles for 2 years and 3 months only average of 18 miles per gallon. I got the car for that price the other day, I also reach out to other dealers but that’s the best offer I can get. I hope I can get at least 35 miles to a gallon on this Hybrid.

Your sale price is more than $3100 below invoice before doc fees. I will buy the car today, but before you do so you need more info from the dealer about the financing.

    1. What incentives are included in this quote?
    2. What is the finance rate they are quoting?
    3. Ask them if they will match the finance rate from say your credit union/bank.

Once you have all this info, you just need to figure out whether you are better off financing through them or using your own financing.

    Hi guys great page!

Looking to buy 19 accord sport 1.5t manual. I would like to get it in next 2 weeks , but if it will help I can wait for1-2 months to get a good deal.
Cash no trade. Local dealers don’t have the color. About to start e-mailing.

    1. What is the Invoice price on this car? I see different numbers on kbb vs cargueu?
    2. What’s the target I should be going for below invoice 2-3 k ?
    3. When I start emailing dealers do I ask what there price is or do I offer a number (like say I think it’s worth 23,500$)

    Thank you

Before you start emailing dealers, I would recommend finding the car in the color combination you want and then requesting an online quote. If dealers in your area do not have the car, you would have to expand your search radius.

Where are you located? Let me try and answer some of your questions.

    1. I have used autotrader to determine invoice pricing. Be aware that the price listed does not include the $920 / $930 destination fee. Looking at their website (https://www.autotrader.com/Honda/Accord/2019) , this car's MSRP is $26,170 + destination. Invoice pricing is $23,953 + dedtination.
    2. Given that a 1.5T manual sport is not common, your target price will depend on inventory and your location. Hence, we can't just throw a number out.
    3. Refer to my previous commnet about requesting an online quote.

I posted a few threads back all the information you will need from a dealer to determine whether you are getting a good deal.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the input kyfdx and bluemkn 57.
    Are Edmunds numbers reasonably correct?

    I live in Cleveland

One of my local dealers gave me a price (including destination fee ,excluding tax) of 25,000$ but I think he is ready to negotiate. He does not have the color I like but said he can get it.

I found a dealer 200miles away (Columbus ohio) that has 2 of the same cars I’m looking for on the lot, they sent me internet no haggle price( including destination fee) of 23,300$.

I would go with the dealer that has the car in the color you want. I would ask for a detailed price breakdown from the dealer in Columbus showing doc fees, etc. Make sure there are no BS dealer add-ons tacked onto the price. I would also suggest working with your local dealer to see if they can price match and use them as a backup.

@PJ2082 Please take note...... I've purchased over half my vehicles (about 600 vehicles ) for friends / family in a 45 year span, negotiating on the phone with various Internet managers up and down the East Coast & across country. Make sure selling dealer Faxes / Emails you the BUYERS Order with pricing breakdown. In return you leave a Credit card deposit till you can get to dealership. No buyers order or email conformation with price breakdown your asking for Trouble........................Good luck
