In south Florida I just factory ordered an SX with Prestige Pkg, carpet mats, rear bumper protector, locking lug nuts and splash guards.  36/12 lease came to $542 with $2500 down.

The MSRP was $47435 as seen on the Kia web site.  I found in Palm Beach and Broward counties in Florida that if the SX was on the lot, dealers were asking over MSRP by as much as $8000 (no joke) because of the very high SX demand.  We anticipate waiting 3+ months for delivery from the Georgia factory.

Wow. I'd shop another vehicle before I paid $8K over MSRP on a Kia.

Thank you. Is there any validity at all in a dealer offering a selling price of $37,600 for EX AWD (roughly $3k below MSRP) in response to an online inquiry and then claiming that is only for purchase and leases are only done at full MSRP (minus the lease cash ... supposedly)?

I was offered $499/month for 36/10 + all taxes and fees. Kia's own lease calculator comes out to $484/month and includes $650 in fees, so the dealer numbers appear to be about $30/month off from that. Is it possible there is a valid reason for this or they are simply over charging for while they can?

Different incentives for lease vs. purchase could be the explanation.

But, there is some amount of lease cash on every trim level of Telluride, so take that into consideration when negotiating.

Dealer can also mark up the base MF for extra profit.

You can negotiate the selling price of a car, even if it is for a lease. Dealer is just trying to keep some profit to himself on the lease. The Telluride is selling quite well, hence some dealers might not be inclined to discount this new model much. If I were in your shoes, I will reach out to another dealer for a price quote on a lease. Get a breakdown, including any money down (always best not to put any money down) and money due at signing (DAS).

Side note, the moderator is correct about lease cash vs purchase cash.
