I'm living in Florida and will be leasing for sure. I knew that there was a tax-credit of about $5K on the T8 but for me, with no tax liability on the bottom line, I considered this tax-credit to be worthless to me.

So are you suggesting that in my case - since the bank (Volvo finance) is 'buying' the vehicle and leasing it to me - I would receive this tax-credit as an incentive through Volvo instead?

If so, that would be a HUGE selling-point for the T8 for me and I'm sure many folks - even on this forum - did not know about that fact.

What you describe is exactly what happens.

Bank buys car, leases it to you. As the owner, bank qualifies for the federal incentives.

If bank so chooses, it can pass along those incentives to the customer in the form of incentives, or a higher residual value.

This is GREAT! This credit/incentive divided over the 36 months basically reduces the lease-payments by a whopping $150/month due to a tax-credit I usually wouldn't have been able to take advantage of and puts the T8 much closer to the monthly rate of an equally equipped T6.
