Whoa. If I give you what I'm going to propose to the dealer, can you tell me if it looks OK? Because he just texted me 7,500 miles/ 36 months (I'm a very low-mile driver), $814.86 per month. He is saying he's discounting the car by $3,500 (assuming from the MSRP of $51,980). That doesn't even feel close to what I get (which also includes me turning in my 2021 XC60 w/ 9,393 miles on it).

When I plug in my numbers, I come out with a little over $500/month.

Cool, thank you. I feel like the markup on the MF is high, and also feels like they raised the price over the MSRP and then did the $ 3,500 in incentives. I'm just not 100% sure.

And I live in the city, the car will be housed in the city, but the dealer is in the suburbs.

I can tell that they marked the MF up for sure, and honestly, I expect a little bit of a markup but not sure if this is too much of a markup?

I don't know what's too much. We've seen larger markups from Volvo dealers

The numbers are exact for a .00050 markup.

I asked about the city, because of the sales tax. The state sales tax is upfront, and added into the CAP cost on line 7 (and section 25).

The monthly sales tax on line 16 is the City tax on leases.

The markup adds about $41/mo to the payment. I'd offer that much less, at least.

What is the sales tax rate where you live? If I use .00189 MF and 51% RV against the MSRP and "Total Purchase Price", I get $672/mo before tax.

Sales tax is 7.25%. Exactly, I tried one of those lease calculatiors and came up with similar numbers. My only guess the dealer is inflating the MF.

Not sure why the dealer doesn’t include the acquisition fee in the number brakedown, but it is mentioned in the small prints.

“Security deposit waived. The capitalized cost of your lease is the Galpin Volvo Price plus $995 lease acquisition fee .”

If I add the $995 to the selling price, I'm within $5/mo of the dealer quote.

The dealer is getting $3000 from Volvo on this vehicle (lease bonus), and giving you a $4720 discount.
The net discount is about 3% from MSRP.

I don't know if you can do better, but I would certainly offer less.

Sales tax rate of 7.25% seems awfully low for California.

In CA when purchasing a vehicle you pay sales tax based on your zip code. Mine is 7.25%, if I was in Los Angeles county then it would be 9%. Thank you for your reply!

I thought it was the zip code of the dealer that determines the sales tax rate, not the registration location.

In Colorado, it's the registration location that determines the tax rate.

The lease bonus is a factory to dealer incentive, which they are not required to pass along nor disclose to you. Negotiate your price, now that you know about it.
