I still have to print because most local government agencies are antiquated. Meaning paperwork for MVC and kid's school, for 2 examples. But, because of the large gaps of time that can pass between print jobs, inkjet is not the way to go these days. As stated above, they can dry out. Laserjet uses powder, so those last much longer (not sure if they ever expire?).

It's been a minute or a minute and a half since we've talked appliances.
Guess we are getting a new refrigerator delivered next Monday. Wife finally got tired of the noises the original one to the house was making (GE, 9 years).
A Frigidare is coming - side by side on top, then a small pull out drawer that can be set for cold or freezer duties, and a pull out freezer at the bottom.
Ice and water dispenser in the door.
Felt like the entire house was measured to ensure it can be delivered and installed.
Fun times.
@stickguy - close, but the MSRP was a tad bit higher. I just looked at the Monroney, and the bottom line MSRP was a tick over $38K. I know I got a bit of a discount from that.
And, from the "Really?" file, I've got a situation very similar to those BMW folks who have to "register" new parts. I bought a new printer last fall, and installed the cartridges that were shipped with it. I am on the HP Print subscription, where I pay a flat monthly fee for x number of pages, and the new cartridges are shipped automatically.
Turns out the cartridges from my old HP printer fit the new printer, but guess what? I can't print because they weren't registered to the new printer. Since I don't print all that much, it's not a big deal, but I've got to get it resolved. On top of that, I sent the starter cartridges back to HP to be recycled, so they aren't in my possession anymore. Gonna have to give them a call and see what can be done.
HP makes it so your new printer won't work when you set it up. You phone the 1-800 number and they ask if they can go on your computer and set up the printer. In our case they did a complete cleanup so the computer works faster, and they got the printer going. And then they sold me a program where they will fix your computer for and all HP products for about $500 for 3 years. I refused but they kept offering discounts if i was a senior and it worked out to $100 a year I think. It was worth it because they help us about 6 times a year.......but the printer not working is a way for them to sell you on a maintenance program...beware!
I didn't have any problems getting the printer to work, right out of the box. When my print jobs stopped printing, I had to dig deep to uncover the root cause of the problem.
The cartridges I put into the printer were brand new, not recycled from the old printer. Pulled the wrapping off each of them.
Are the cartridges HP? I think they make it so only HPs work.
There's a chip HP puts into their cartridges that communicate with the printer. I've called and chatted with HP several times about what sort of "communication" the chip enables. I've always received some sort of "gobble de [non-permissible content removed]" answers that never made any sense. Came to the conclusion those chips allow enable the printer to work only with HP cartridges.
Thanks, you confirmed what I thought was happening!

I was at Staples tonight so browsed the printer selection. They had 2 aisles of them. Must have been 2 dozen models or more. So somebody is buying them! I saw a Canon with the "megatank" color injet. Actually looked nice. Claim that the included bottles of ink should last 2 years and be good for 6,000 B&W and 7,000 color copies. That should cover me until long after I am dead. Given the absurd cost of cartridges sounds like a much better option (and from what I saw replacement bottles are no more expensive than snap in cartridges).
You only plan on living 2 years?😢

Poor dog. I’ve read that something like 50% of dogs eventually get cancer. That’s a scary statistic. Is this due to breeding, environmental factors, genetics or what?

Sure would like to know your source for “…50% of dogs eventually get cancer…!” A friend of mine (veterinarian) knows of no research showing that 50% of dogs develop cancer. See if you can remember where you read that statistic - I’d be interested in reading that article. Thanks Farmer.

Now that makes it clearer. Dogs over 10 years old have a 50% chance of developing cancer - 10 years of age is at the upper end of a typical dog’s lifespan so their immune systems are not as effective in fighting off cancers.

I got ambitious and opened the hood on my truck yesterday. First time in ages. Checked the oil while I was in there and spot on full which was nice. Went in because the low washer light came on so had to top that up. Did notice that regular maintenance thanks to a non turbo transverse 4 is very easy. Could change the plugs in about 5 minutes and a pro should be able to do a valve cover in half an hour if they loaf.

I had it in the back of my head that I’d quit my old job once there were 20,000 claims in our claims system. I nailed it pretty close. I think the last claim assigned to me was 1998X, and they were over 20k in my last week there.

@corvette, how many claims adjusters work on 20000 claims? When my 2015 Mercedes was destroyed on Aug 16th 2016 I was fortunate to have full replacement value insurance on it. The insurance company stonewalled me and kept trying to replace my car with one that didn't have all the options I had. I read up about the process and it said the claims people are paid bonuses and they get promoted, depending on how much they can save the company by stonewalling people wanting their payout. Do you know anything about that. I eventually got my car replaced.

@corvette, how many claims adjusters work on 20000 claims?
We only had 1,000-1,500 or so open at a given time, spread across the equivalent of maybe ten full time adjusters, but the claim numbers were sequential. And these were mostly third party liability claims where liability and damages were often contested or litigated and could drag on for years, versus me looking to my auto policy to replace a damaged windshield (which involves a small payout for them and almost no human interaction/thought).

That is partly the case. A big issue was my original car had some option that the 2017 should have, because they had to give me a car with the same features, but the 2017s changed it so that the turning headlights were now in a package with other items, I believe one was the heads up display....so they had to throw in a few extra options for me to get the lights. I Googled the info about the claims people and I am sure I was looking at U.S. info about how agents were given bonuses and promotions according to how well they stonewalled clients. Eventually my claims agent was let go, and the new agent got right on it......I think my emails saying I'd be getting in touch with the insurance ombudsman may have helped too.

My policy contained the "Full Replacement Value" part of the insurance. I figured for $50 it made sense, and it sure did. Instead of giving me what the car was worth when it was 2 years old, they gave me the money to buy a new 2 year old newer car that was exactly the same.

No....My insurance company held the "Full Replacement Value" part of the policy. The other insurance company had to pay the reduced value part of the car, my company issued the FRV part.

I read up about the process and it said the claims people are paid bonuses and they get promoted, depending on how much they can save the company by stonewalling people wanting their payout.

Remember, you're in Canada, where the processes and incentives may be completely different than in the US.

That sounds a little drastic. Might try finding another you.

You got rear ended right? Why were you dealing with your insurance? It wasn’t your fault.

No fault insurance. You deal with your company, and they deal with the at fault company.

Gotcha - didn’t realize it worked that way.

What’s the gang up to today?
Little RnR going on for us.
So awesome having this up the street. Kids came, ate and left to play. Mom is home keeping an eye on them, but they are enjoying the (finally) nice weather too

Looks a lot like my backyard. Isn’t it great not having to leave the hood?

My policy contained the "Full Replacement Value" part of the insurance. I figured for $50 it made sense, and it sure did. Instead of giving me what the car was worth when it was 2 years old, they gave me the money to buy a new 2 year old newer car that was exactly the same.

No....My insurance company held the "Full Replacement Value" part of the policy. The other insurance company had to pay the reduced value part of the car, my company issued the FRV part.
