I went through the contacts phase when I was in my 30s. Never had to endure the hard contacts but tried just about every variety of soft contacts to get one that worked and never really found it. By the time I got home from work each day they had to come out because of discomfort, and if you were outside on a dry, windy day or went out after work they quickly became unbearable. Then of course they always needed cleaning and storage once I got home at the end of the day until the next morning. A few times they came out in the middle of the day and even if you could find it you couldn't just put it back in without cleaning it. A total pain. I went back to the eye doc several times and they finally concluded that the shape of my eyeball was why I was having problems. The only ones that came close to being acceptable were the daily disposable ones which back then were pretty expensive to use. I abandoned them after a few years.
For me, the only good thing about them was they gave me the ability to wear sunglasses.
Had cataract surgery on both eyes about 3 years ago. Since I was 8 years old I’ve been nearsighted. After the cataract surgery, the lenses the ophthalmologist inserted caused me to become foresighted. So the corrective lenses in my eyeglasses (Varalux) are more for reading with slight corrections in the upper lenses for astigmatism and distance. I can actually drive now without glasses since the gauge cluster in my car is far enough away from my line of sight that I can see everything clearly.
I go in once a year for a checkup to make sure the cataracts are not returning and that my retina is healthy considering the fact that I am diabetic.
Cataracts do not return after cataract surgery. Cataracts are clouding of your natural lens. Your natural lens is removed and they put in a plastic lens when they do the cataract surgery.

We are now under a flash flood warning for the next 5 days with 8-14” of rain expected. The Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane warning for counties surrounding Tampa and a Hurricane Watch for the southwestern and southeastern counties, which includes us here in northern Broward County.
I remember back in 2007 when Hurricane Wilma came in from the western side of the peninsula and hit us here in the northeast section of Broward County as a category 3 hurricane. These storms are quite nerve racking, to say the least.
My brother is currently in a rehab facility in St. Petersburg. They had to evacuate with the last one but this sounds worse. I hope his condo doesn’t get flooded.
My in-laws from St. Cloud are cutting their vacation short after one day.

today's haul from the treasure trove in the woods around my yard. 3 more tires that the wife spotted (there are another 3 at least a bit further out under a pile of branches, but those are going to stay there for a while!). a big wad of green wire garden fencing and one of the posts it attaches to. A big tin can that used to have water proofing stuff in it (very patina'd). And a roll of plastic planting bed edging and the pipe that goes with it (and some bigger diameter black plastic pipe that i had to cut into sections to pull out).
Oh, and the remnants of an artificial Christmas tree. The people behind us must have hated putting anything in the garbage (more likely, stuff they would have taken someplace or paid to get rid of!)
Try putting it on the curb, you’d be surprised what people will take. I just put the last greenhouse furnace out with some miscellaneous tubing and wire and it was gone within the hour. I’ve even put old tires out and somebody took them.

one nice thing from back in Jersey, our town once a month came around for bulk pickup. You could put nearly anything out on the curb and they would come around and take it. And the night before, the pickers would come through and load up their trucks with anything good. Fine by me, if they can reuse it!
Too bad they don't do that up here (private garbage companies instead of the town doing it).
And the problem with putting it out for people to take is that we are on a private road (basically a shared driveway) so the only people that go by my house are 2 neighbors that I know don't want the junk I have to get rid of. so to put it out on the main road would mean putting it in front of someone else's house, which I doubt they would appreciate (but people on that road have put out stuff that eventually disappears)
I just wish I had gotten it cleaned out a couple of weeks earlier because we had fall clean up day a couple of weeks back where you could bring anything to the town transfer station. At least they still take tires!
I got all of it but the tires and wire fence in the garbage pail so hopefully it all goes into the truck tomorrow. The fencing will take some effort to knock down.

I thought that, too, when I ordered my ZTR. The Kawasaki engine was an additional cost. I then asked a mechanic at the dealer which he preferred. He said they were too close to call and didn’t see any significant issues with one over the other, so if it were him, he wouldn’t spend the money for the “upgrade.” I followed his advice.

I've had a Deer 130 for 15 years. Just replaced the. tires this year. Regular oil changes, balance and sharpen the blades every season along with regular hosing of the grass clippings underneath. That's about it. Go to a Deere dealer not the big box places. There is supposed to be a difference, although I don't recall what they were when I bought mine.
Cub, Toro (non zero-turn), Craftsman, Troy-Bilt....are all made by MTD, which I've found to be a bit more cheaply made. I had heard the Cub Cadets you buy at. the dealers are better than the ones bought at big box stores, just like Deere. Don't know how true that is.

Interesting that when I look up cub cadet dealers in their website there is one equipment dealer and the rest are tractor supply stores. I don’t get the sense that the product is different at each place.
I don't believe there is a difference as far as Tractor Supply is concerned- it's the big box stores such as Home Depot or Lowe's that usually offer cheaper models. In any case, I'd go with a dealer whenever possible if only to make it easier to address any warranty concerns and or parts/service needs.

The local dealer may have free pickup and delivery for service.
I wish my dealers did. Neither the Deere or Cub Cadet dealers do. Deere is, I think, $75 pick up and delivery. Cub Cadet? I don't know how much. I have done that one myself so far.
I stopped at grocery store a while ago for a minute and the EV charger seemed broken. The screen was blank except for some symbol at the top and it was making weird noises.
The really odd thing was, there was not a diesel F-250 parked there.
The local dealer may have free pickup and delivery for service.
What? And leave that brawny Maverick parked in the driveway? Isn’t that what it’s for?
Funny....reminds me of my neighbor who sold his "Husquevarna" (sp?) tractor this past Spring. Guy who bought it had ramps to load it up into his F150.
The angle the ramps were at to get the tractor into the bed were pretty steep. I questioned the ability of the tractor to negotiate the ramps and angle. The new owner got it up the ramps (but not without some narrow near misses of the wheels falling off the side).
But, the last stab of the accelerator to get it fully in the bed was a little much. He hit the back of the cab, putting a nice big dent there. But, he got it loaded.
Neighbor and I both wondered what the scenario would be like backing it out of the bed, given it would be just as steep. We'll never know.
As an aside, I have someone coming over today to look at the Accord. He's an acquaintance and overheard me talking about I might have to let it go since I have two cars and one driver. We'll see.
I even had it washed at a hand wash place yesterday. It's pretty spiffy. No dings, chips, runs or rattles.

Things will be happening down here shortly. We are currently under a Topical Storm Warning and flash flood warning. The track of the hurricane has turned a bit to the south which is not good news for our area.
Fort Myers is almost due west of where I live (Port Charlotte Area) and is in the cone of uncertainty - based on its east north east trajectory.
My ophthalmologist canceled my Thursday appointment and my cardiologist canceled my appointment for tomorrow. Schools in Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties are closed until Friday.

I am 2 miles south of Boca Raton. I have my hurricane shutters on my terrace pulled down and I live adjacent to Florida’s Turnpike - so I am far enough west of the ocean to avoid any storm surge.

I’ve been praying for those poor souls on the central west coast.

You should be on I-95 heading north That’s what I would be doing if I was down there - evacuate until well outside of the cone

I wish for safety for all of our Florida folks on here. Kirsti, Sandman, @abacomike.
