I've had pretty good luck with Best Buy, over the years
Me, too. I’ve purchased two 55” smart TV’s from them over the past 8 years and have had zero problems. They have salespeople, for the most part, that are pretty astute at knowing their products - especially smart TV’s.
Me three. Bought our TV and a couple of appliances from them. They’ve been great. It helps they are only a mile from our place.

They're delivering it this afternoon. It's tricky to get a large TV down the stairs to my Home Theater room as there are two sets of stairs with a sharp turn between the two. Not that it's particularly heavy. Just awkward the way it turns with a relatively low ceiling.
But, got the last one down there. So, it's doable.
Best Buy went through a period there that they just weren't very competitive. Seems they're fixing that, or at least trying hard to do so.

I think they’ll slide it down the steps on it’s side then stand it up on it’s end when they get to the landing then slide it down the last few steps on it’s side like they did for the first 6 steps. Then carry it to where you want it set up (maybe even slide it there too). At least that’s the way I’d do it. Gravity can be your friend when you think it through.
Easy peasy.
FWIW, if my knees don’t start feeling better, I’m considering sliding down the steps myself.

They aren’t sliding it unless the TV is “bendable” (which were just demo’d at CES). There are 2 90 degree turns down the stairs!

Interestingly, the BB sales guy asked what sort of set up I have. I mentioned I had an OPPO multi-format disc player. He was young-ish. He was familiar with OPPO, who hasn’t made disc players in years!
Oh, I almost forgot: it was an additional $2566 per garage door to change out the tracks and opener to lift them all the way to the ceiling.
————————————————Thanks for getting back to me about the price. I thought I was right about that.
I wasn’t thinking about garage doors having to be moved. That’s over 5 grand right there but that was for 2 doors. However, most folks would only need to do 1 door. Given the cost for 2 doors, maybe adding a few more bucks to building a deeper garage would have worked if you had the room to do that. I know you have the money.

———————————————— I’d think carrying it would require more bending. I guess you’re talking about getting it around the landing. Must have to lift it at that point to make the turn to get it down the rest of the steps. But it could be slid again once the turn is made. BTW, I don’t know what CES is.
FWIW, a 65 inch TV is around 58 inches wide without the box. So. add about another foot to that for the total box width. I doubt they’re going to take it out of the box to move it. If they did I wouldn’t want to watch that. Now that I’m thinking about this, don’t you have access to your basement from the garage?

All of my recent electronics purchases including my Epson projector and screen have come from Amazon.
Funny story - when I bought the Klipsch 15” sub for the theater room I actually got an Amazon message that the driver needed help with it. He couldn’t get it off the truck by himself. The weight along with the size of the box was just too much.

TVs are not that heavy. They can be carried. Try getting a fridge down steps with a turn like that.
Back in the days when I actually moved, and moved myself, with the help of U-Haul and friends, the most dreaded piece was the convertible sofa. Seriously heavy, it had to be tied down so that it didn't extend itself in the elevator. Yeah, ask me how I know.

———————————————— We’ve moved a few times but here’s my favorite moving story:
Before we moved out of our 3rd floor apartment (no elevators in that place) to move into our first house a couple months after our second anniversary, I called a moving company to do the heavy lifting. My brothers were going to help me move all the small manageable stuff before the movers showed up. I told the woman that when I called so she could give me a price.
I remember her saying since they didn’t have to do any packing and not having to move any appliances i would be getting a pretty good price. The price was right so I told her the day and time I wanted them to be there. She told me they’d be there by 9AM.
They showed up on time and the helper knocks on the door panting a little bit from the climb then says, “how many refrigerators do you have”? I said I told the woman we didn’t have any refrigerators or appliances that had to be moved and he said, still panting, “yeah, yeah, I see that on the move sheet but everybody that lives on the 3rd floor of an apartment building with steps has 2 refrigerators that they want moved.” I assured him we had none. I never saw a guy with a bigger smile.

of all the things that you could do yourself that is worth spending money on to hire out, movers is way up at the top of the list. Watching those guys empty out our house and move it all into the new one, I would have paid double if that is what it took.

Totally agree, especially with a cross-country move like our last one. They packed everything so much more efficiently than we would have!
I kind of like it. Could be iffy getting the wife to do it again though! I would say we will be here at least 3 years (so another 2.5). Exact timing depending on if/when/where the kids move to (still around here though). And if my wife's knee issue gets resolved. if not we might be looking at ranch houses sooner than expected.

Stick, I’m in the position you were in a year or two ago. Our basement has become a catch all for a lot of stuff we aren’t using - probably need to have a big purge before we think about moving.
garage sale, market place, buy nothing. They all work for getting rid of stuff!
Our development has two dedicated garage sale weekends (Fri-Sat) each year. Just a matter of yanking everything out of the basement and into the garage.

My kitchen reno has highlighted a problem I always knew I had but which is now squarely in the spotlight: I have way too much stuff which I seldom/never use. Since the work also involves the DR, they had to remove everything that was in both spots and put it somewhere. That was problem enough, but it highlighted that a lot just needs to go away as it never gets used. One of the top things is my vintage stereo equipment, most of which hasn't been turned on for years and which - while I would love to keep it - really is just taking up space. The problem is selling it. One of the things is a 1980-vintage Pioneer SX-3900 receiver which you can find on eBay for big money, but which would need a full going-over by someone who knows what they are doing to reach those heights. The same holds true for my dining table and chairs which currently are outside on the deck covered by a tarp (I am planning to buy something more compact). I would think that could only be done locally and using FB marketplace or similar is not something I think I could tolerate. Still pondering.

You don't get much for old furniture or stereos....or crystal, chinaware, silverware. Just offer it at a low price, like $10 and hope someone takes it off your hands so you don't have to take it to the dump.

Many years ago, I moved myself a few times. Halfway through the job, I'd have paid double the highest quote just for someone to finish the job for me. Never again (and now I'm too old to risk it).
When I leave this place or just choose to get rid of the convertible sofa, it's going to the first person on Nextdoor who shows up to haul it away for free. That's how I divested myself of my last dining room table - posted on Nextdoor for free with the caveat that I will provide no labor assistance to get it all down the stairs. It was still out of my house within an hour.

Our first house here in CO did not have a basement - wasn't an option with the builder and model we chose. It did have an oversize garage that we used for some storage, however.

That is so true. Once you realize it doesn’t have the value you thought it did, it becomes much easier to let go of. Rather than thinking how much you paid or what you think just the right person would pay, think about the years of value you enjoyed.

I had to get rid of a 50" Sony TV.....the first large ones were a combination of LCD and a tube I think....they were very think and heavy. I advertised it for $10 and a woman came in a van and took it for her teenager who wanted to use it for video games. When she loaded it I told her to keep the $10, I only did that because most people will think it is junk if offered for free.

We’ve been much cooler here in South Florida than usual for this time of year. Many nights in the upper 40’s and days in the mid 60’s. We’ve experienced cold fronts coming through every 3-5 days. Inside my condo, the temperature hovers between 71 and 73 degrees. For me, that’s cold but I have not turned on the heat yet. Trying to deal with cool temps by sleeping with a heavy comforter.
Had heated steering wheel and heated seats turned on in the G90 quite a few mornings this month.

Something if I didn’t have it, I would be paying for 2 storage units.

What's a basement?
Our first house here in CO did not have a basement - wasn't an option with the builder and model we chose. It did have an oversize garage that we used for some storage, however.

Welcome to the real world.
I’ve got to make some money so I can become a snowbird next year. It’s been downright cold here in the Burgh this year. Nothing like last year when it was almost balmy around here all Winter.

I’m thinking the same. Won’t be easy sell with a new grand child around.
