I just put a bunch of money into my Vanguard account. Just a heads up if you were thinking along the same lines. You should probably wait a while since I seem to make the market dive after doing that.
I took mom's 2010 CR-V to have the tires rotated and balanced along with trouble shooting the TPMS light. As I thought a bad battery on the sensor. It was refreshing to see the simple and logically set up of the dashboard. No issues in figuring out what does what. It still drives well. No squeaks or rattles and tracks true.

76K in 15 years? Not bad.
I think my mom's 2003 Sonata still has less than 60K on the clock, even though my sister is driving it from time to time.

I didn't see a backup camera!
It has an aftermarket back up camera that is attached to the interior review mirror. The camera is attached to the rear license plate. It is all hard wired in was installed by Best Buy.

Nice....I tried to do that too but they won't hardwire it into an MB....too much can go wrong apparently.
Same here.. if I say I bought a stock, wait a week, and you can get it for less. 😕
Same for me....with car washes and filling up the gas tank.
———————————————— Just in case you haven’t heard, they make EV’s these days and backup cameras are standard equipment too.
As for car washes, a bucket and sponges in the driveway has always worked for me.

Thanks, I'll keep that valuable information about backup cameras being in EVs these days. I'll consider one after you buy one. About hauling your water, pail, hose, sponges, soap, cloths out to the driveway, nah, for $10 I can go thru the car wash when I buy gas. It gives me more time to spend on important things like pickleball and tennis.

On top of that my hands are immaculate when I’m done. I hate holding a refreshing cold brew with dirty hands.

Our gas dryer crapped out last night. Less than 4 yrs old ($1000 whirlpool). I planned on fixing it but wife decided she couldn’t wait. At Best Buy this morning, open box LG was marked down to $636. $50 off for taking it home ourselves, 10% back on credit card, and $100 gift card with purchase. Brought it down to like $430 effective

———————————————— But it was used. Oh yeah, almost forgot, the one that crapped out was used too and even older. At that price you shoulda bought two.
I guess the only downside is it won’t match the washer. As long as you’re not selling your house like that you should be OK because I’ve heard house buyers today want everything to match.
BTW, the problem might just be the igniter, which is an easy and inexpensive fix. Anyway, you should be able to sell the old one if you still decide to fix it and then the new used one will have cost you even less.

I probably should, but I probably won’t. I’ll either sell it to a repair place or give it for scrap or I have to see if gas company is offering anything for energy savings.
Floor model for a gas dryer is not what I would call used. Maybe “previously touched.” Ha.
They REALLY don’t match because the washer is grey and dryer now white. But if anybody wants to buy my house and haggle over 0.08% of the purchase price, I’ll definitely give them that discount. Lol.

That is what happens to me....if I save $100 or get a tax refund or whatever, something comes up where that same amount gets spent to cover it. It must be some kind of rule of life.

today was one of my least favorite days of the year. Annual pull out the files and hunt down all the tax forms and paperwork needed to fire up the software and get the taxes done. Oddly it was one of the easiest years since I had everything already (other than the Vanguard forms I log in and print, now done).
Was not exciting enough to sit down and do them (who needs that pain, and thanks to some cap gains, almost guaranteed I will be submitting more money!) but at least when I work up the ambition for that, it should go quick.
had to go out yet again and do more shoveling thanks to last nights 6" of fresh heart attack on a shovel. Glad that we have the plow guy doing the bulk of the driveway. Still have to do the walk and tidy up the edges (he does not get out of the truck, and my driveway has a lot of bends and angle he can't get into). But still better than doing the main acreage!
About taxes, I’m tired of playing games with the IRS. So I’m thinking of telling them I died. I’m old enough so that couldn’t be too much of a stretch.

My wife always finds a way to fund vacation for us. Usually we cash a bit of her awarded stocks or used our bonuses. This year her signing bonus more than covered our Oct cruise. I’m a lucky guy

———————————————— That’s almost as good as what Mrs. j did one year when we went on vacation when our sons were in high school. I always let her make the arrangements and get whatever money had to be taken from our savings account to pay for the vacation. I remember asking her how much she got out of the bank and she said, “oh, I didn’t have to take it out of our savings this year, I took it all out of the checking account”, When I questioned her how she managed that she said, “I didn’t put anything into our savings account for about 2 months”. For a very brief moment I thought she had become a money magician.

we were supposed to plan some sort of vacation for late winter/early spring. Seems like we never quite got around to it. Tougher now too because we have a baby shower and bridal shower coming up, then the grandkid due, all in the next 3 months. That eats up some weekends. Even worse, my boss wife has been dealing with knee issues (both knees now). Arthritis, and in the left a meniscus tear. Not good times. Hoping that she is in better shape next spring since we have a 10 night vacation to Spain booked.
starting to think I must be one of those people the youtube financial planners make an example of for working past when they could retire, and missing their enjoy it window! I guess if we can't spend the trip money allocation on fun travel, I can repurpose it into a nice car!

My ten year old Samsung front loader threw an error code indicating it thought no water was coming in (definitely NOT the case, after troubleshooting). It's run fine ever since, so may have been a fluke, but if not, could be an electrical problem or part of the sensor assembly it uses to detect the water level.
@tjc78 - my local liquor store had Blanton's and some other rare stuff I didn't recognize (but described by my coworker as "Eagle Rare, Weller handle, and Taylor") out on a table last Friday (limit 1), so I got the Blanton's.
Sounds like a great deal. I’ve more or less convinced myself that I’m buying a Speed Queen when the time comes but they are pricey.
My parents have one of their top-loaders (my mother refuses to own a front loader and demands that her top loader have a full agitator). It's an upgraded model and has electronic controls, which I'm not sure I'd go for, if the concern is longevity, but I also don't see people complaining that the electronics fail. The SQ top loaders are expensive, but not outrageous. But, IMO, the SQ front loaders are ridiculously overpriced. You can buy three high end, highly rated LG front loaders for the price of one SQ.
don't hate on me (unless it really makes you feel better about yourself) but the expensive stuff would likely be wasted on me. Any reasonably good normal whisky/bourbon would probably taste just as good to me (and needless to say, I am not really a fan to start with!)
As to Washers, at the new house we went with LG. Wife liked them. Actually went back to a front loader (will deal with potential gasket mold issues if they are still a thing) because the wife had issues reaching the bottom of the top loader we had at the last house, plus she wanted to put them on pedestals so it would be higher up for easier access (and storage underneath). I just hope I don't ever have to pull them out!

I don’t have a dog in this fight but the game consists of 4 quarters. Save it for the 2 minute warning. And even then maybe wait.
