One of my kids told me(Huh? You know something current about Jaguar?) they dropped the Jagur head logo.

In the last 9 months of so of the Ram lease. So, of course already thinking of a replacement.

    I’m very @stickguy like on this -

    Short list -

    Ram #2 but more equipped

Wagoneer - highly unlikely leases stink

    XC90 #2 (T8 version)

EQS SUV (if leases hold up)

F150 Lightning (same comment as EQS)

Right now EQS 118K example just a touch under $800 / month with just first OOP

Would be tough to turn down.

I bet you could negotiate a killer deal on a Ford Lightning. We were recently running around the Mannheim auction in Newburgh NY and there must have been 200 brand new Lightnings stored in the back lot stacked up like cord wood. I’m sure that’s not the only place they’re sticking them.

funny, but I thought about going for a cheapo lease on a lightning. If they exist. Of course, I should probably drive one first. That could cure me of wanting something that huge. I feel like my Maverick is a big car (it is pretty long) until I park between a couple of half tons, and it looks like a little baby. the odds of the wife being willing to drive one of them is below zero.

just dealing with crowded parking lots with one really does not look like fun.

I have seen several Lightnings at charging stations, so someone is buying/leasing them.

Looks like the lightning only comes in jumbo size. So 8” wider and 3’ almost longer than my current PU. Plus the giant prow that I dont care for. Makes a Ridgeline look almost dainty.

Ok, so who is going to be the 1st punch on the new board?

@corvette - with the end of the year fast approaching, what's our total for '24? How does it compare to '23?

I don’t try to park my F-150 between cars. I park farther out where there’s more room to maneuver. Not a big problem, I park my Mustang farther out too to avoid door dings. I don’t think the truck would fit in my garage.

Well, the timeouts in discussion have become intolerable again. Since y'all were in the midst of a truly scintillating conversation about Jaguar and Lightnings, I created a new thread - Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous (Part 2) - and seeded it with a few of the most recent posts. Like the others, we'll remove the "Part 2" from the title once the conversation gets going.

“(This is my husbands car and he subsequently provided this information. You'll be interacting with him on any correspondence. Thanks!)

-I've owned the car since August 2021, 98,000 miles (roughly).
-At 99,000 miles, both side head gaskets, timing belt, water pump assembly, thermostat, and the upper radiator hose were replaced.
-Routinely changed oil every 3,000 miles.
-In possession of original owners dealer routine checkup paperwork.
-Both heat and air conditioning work appropriately.
-Leather interior, very minimal wear and tear if any at all.
-CD player and Aux insert work fine.
-Have two sets of keys, complete with automatic start functionality. “

This particular Outback is an ‘09 (last year of production for this body style). Has about 112K miles on the odometer. The exterior and interior pics look good. The profile doesn’t show a dozen cars listed or sold. Seems to be located in a nice area of NJ. Originally asking $8,500. Price lowered to $7K.

Sounds pretty well taken care of @nyccarguy. Of course at this age and miles just about anything can crop up but he’s done some of the known, expensive stuff. $7k isnt bad today and if you get 2-3 years out of it without a major problem, its a win.

I think y'all summed it up pretty well. I would ask about transmission and differentials (fluid changes - cannot remember if this year had an external filter on the trans or not). If those haven't been changed, they really need it at this point! This transmission is really easy to change the fluid on by using a flush technique via the transmission cooler lines.

I had the one unplanned punch in 2024. The Ariya goes back at the very end of 2025 (December 18, IIRC), so I'll probably start casually looking for potential replacements a couple of months before. May or may not result in a punch--I still plan to have the Maverick, and I don't have to have a second vehicle.

That is pretty bad. So now what? Buying used via private party could be risky if you don’t know very much about bikes. I guess you could get a PPI from a bike expert. Nothing ever seems to be easy.

Just keeping our eyes peeled. For example, 2023 model of the bike he likes (Yamaha R3) is listed in the town next door for $5k. Has warranty. Waiting for the seller to get back to me.

I know engines, and it is pretty obvious to see if it has been dropped or in an accident. I’m not too worried.

    Sounds about right.

I was going to buy a scooter just to go to work at the baseball field every day during the spring and summer. That's the reason I didn't.

I wonder how many more units dealers would sell if they didn't have to make the big score on every potential deal, thereby leaving a bad taste in customers mouths? My Subaru dealer is almost there. It was fun buying from them before it came to simply making money any way they can.

Obviously at this age and price point, beggars can’t be choosers. I’m obviously going to look for the best combination of year (‘08-‘09), maintenance history (thanks again @xwesx for your input. It means a lot), rust free, mileage, & of course price. If all else is equal, you’ve spoken highly about the H6 engines and automatic transmissions. Is it worth the price premium or to buy a higher mileage or older vehicle vs a 2.5L 4 cylinder?

No, they tried to rob me while I was there. Ha.
We didn’t bite. Told her I have no interest with those fees. Even on used, they have a “reconditioning fee.” That’s one we’ve all definitely seen at used car dealers. But, just as with my speech to those car dealers, you put that in your asking price. A 4-yr-old version of the same Yamaha came to $6k. Only had a few hundred miles on it, but I said I was stuck at $5k OTD on that one. No go.

We had a space there for years and then the LL wanted to redo everything when Bed Bath closed so we had to go dark for awhile and then moved into half of the old Bed Bath space.

I had four signs installed and big blue awnings. You can’t miss us!

This was a super fast trip - drove up Monday night after dinner and was out of town by 11 Tuesday heading to my other new build in East Brunswick.

If I have to head up again I’ll PM you.
