I found this to be very interesting. I like Savagegeese.
Amazing. I am surprised that the stated weight, with a vehicle that has that massive of a battery pack, is just under 7,000#. That's only about 500# heavier than my Q7 TDI. I've always been intrigued by the R1S. I thought about doing a pre-order on one back in 2021 or whenever that was, but then, like now, I cannot bring myself to commit that much cash to an automobile.
However, thinking about the possibility of road-tripping in one, if I could run 350-400 miles per charge, I could probably get away with a single charge stop per driving day, with overnight charge to bring me back to 100%. That would still change our trip dynamics dramatically, though, as we now often stop at places where electricity isn't an option during the night.
After my weekend, though, where I spent a good amount of time doing vehicle recoveries with my Q7, I see the frunk on that R1S and all I can imagine is how perfect that would be to hold all of my recovery and emergency gear.

Just for reference, even small vehicles, such as the Crosstrek, weigh about 3,500# these days, and heavy duty pickups weigh between 8,500 and 9,500# (mostly depending on engine and drivetrain choices). The wiring and safety equipment (such as airbags) just add so much weight!

Between the cold, the sheer amount of pulling power it takes to get someone back on the road, & the weight of all of your recovery gear, I don't think the Range of the R1S would be anywhere near as advertised.

Yeah, one of the biggest reasons we swapped the Expedition out for the '02 Explorer was to get the "fold into the floor" third row.
It took two people to wrestle the third row out of the Expedition.
My Mom had a 92 Caravan. Those seats were beasts as well.
Funny story on that van. It was a 92 beige over beige. Short wheel base and about as base as you could find. 2.5 4cyl, manual everything. I think the only “option” it had was AC.
Anyway - I was a new driver in 1995 and I drove 7 of us back from a funeral in the dead of summer. AC blasting and there was a pretty decent incline. That van nearly didn’t make it up the hill… about half way up my uncle from the third row shouts “I’d shut the AC off I were you”. Good advice it certainly helped.

A thousand pounds more than my wagon and just over a ton more than the fintail. Wild.
The Ariya definitely feels like it has more heft, despite having smaller dimensions, and is quieter inside, but I think its acceleration performance is slightly quicker. The Maverick's ride quality is better overall.

Take your Soul to a farm elevator. I took the Cobalt to a local country, farm elevator and they weighed it for me, with a smile. Son's AP physics teacher had them do an experiment to determine its mass by some formula related to Newton's Law. I wanted to see how close they were. To the real mass.

It’s unbelievable that dealers are still pulling that ADM nonsense but having dealt with a Honda dealer recently I can tell you that they seem to feel entitled to charge whatever they want. Maybe Honda customers are conditioned to just lay down.

Rather than argue with the idiots just employ the ‘one price, OTD’ negotiation method. That way I (generally) don’t care if they’ve charged me 199 for a cargo tray. I hate it in principle, but I’ve learned it’s not worth negotiating with idiots after a certain point. If I pay what I want to pay and it somehow helps a sales dude hit a monthly spiff, so be it.

Just discovered the Sierra’s bed is holding on for dear life. The rear shock mount crossmember is completely gone on one side, and the attached side is not really attached (designed to slide into a hole in the frame on one side and welded in on the other; the welded side is gone). Also, the mid mount on the drivers side is no longer attached to anything. I think it is salvageable but will take time/money. I’m left wondering if I should trade it in or get to work. At first glance, it is looking like maybe $600-$700 in replacement parts. I have no idea if I’ll be able to do it myself. I probably could. Probably easiest to take the bed off to do it.
I was even pondering turbocharging it in the summer. Obviously, that would not be smart in its current condition.
