I applied for 5 jobs today (If you must know 3 online and two by mail) I have 4 more I'm going to apply for this week that I know of thus far. I'm going to fill out a application tommorow. I did re open my unemployment claim today and have been working on my resume and went through 3/4 of a cartridge of ink printing off copies of some of my training records. I'm also going to apply for a job on Wednesday because that is the only day they are taking apps. The ex wife admitted to draining out my bank account to a coworker last week and it got back to me thus she has several thousands of dollars of my money. I don't know just how much but if I were to guess it would be $40-$50K or more hidden. I came into the marriage with quite a bit saved up thus my kids should have plenty of money to fall back on not to mention the thousands ($15K) she stole from her father out of his laundry matt and money she took from the wealthiest guy in her Church out of his Truck which was more than $4,000.

I generally get Michelob Ultra for the Keg as that's what my wife likes to drink and I really like how it tastes from the keg. My second choice is Miller Lite as it's much cheaper by the keg vs Mich and it's good from the tap too.

A discussion recently revived the denied idea that the Prius development was supported by the Japanese government. That's along with the government paid healthcare picking up costs for the companies that the US plants here have to bear.

Rocky, you need to use the google button. Michigan is SMALL potatoes when it comes to oil and natural gas. Your gas fields peaked in 1993 and last year you were only able to supply 25% of your own needs. Most of your Natural gas comes from TX and Canada. You were 12th in the US for production in 2006. Your reserves are dwindling. Why do you think that Sarah Palin wants to build a gas line down through Canada. To supply YOU and your Midwest neighbors. Alaska has the largest reserves outside of the Middle East.
This could also be why many industries are moving out of Michigan. Not only horrible labor issues with the UAW, they no longer have the energy needed to run the plants.
Natural gas produced in Michigan represents about 25% of the total gas consumed in Michigan.

I don't think that is the issue at all. It is GM being profitable. If they could not make a profit when 17 million vehicles were sold in 2007, they are not going to make a profit as the market dwindles.
GM is faced with costs that require more cars to be built than they can possibly sell. No matter how good they are. Blaming their problems on imports just does not hold up to scrutiny. GM lost over $20B when they sold about 4,000,000 vehicles in 2007. They have not cut costs and will likely only sell about 2 million this year. They have to get rid of their high legacy costs that have averaged $7B per year for the last 20 years.
I think expecting the bondholders to forgive debt is crazy. They loaned GM money to get out of the mess and GM did NOTHING to survive. I don't see how they can avoid bankruptcy with the noose the UAW has around their neck.
I just hope they don't give Wagoner his golden parachute. He deserves a hemp rope around the neck for running GM into the ground. A double hanging with Gettlefinger would be some justice. I imagine the retirees will be looking to hang them both when this starts to unravel.

GM RECALLS >270,000 VEHICLES DUE TO FAULTY SHIFTER
With all the financial strife General Motors finds itself in, the last thing it needs are product recalls bringing into doubt the quality of its vehicles. Unfortunately for GM, a product recall is just what the company was forced to issue, and with more than 270,000 vehicles across the country affected people are going to take notice.
The recall affects the 2009 versions of the Buick Enclave, and the Chevrolet Cobalt, HHR, Malibu and Traverse. The Saturn Aura and Outlook have also been affected, as have the GMC Acadia, and the Pontiac G5 and G6.
The issue with the shift lever lies in an inability to effectively mesh with the transmission. This issue manifests itself when drivers move the shift lever into the 'Park' position for automatic cars and the transmission doesn't actually reach the 'Park' setting. This could cause cars to roll away if the handbrake is not engaged, although GM did not go into specifics as to what other issues could present themselves.

How can you be subjective when you have nothing to compare. The CTS lost to a Genesis in a Edmund's comparison. Are you saying the Edmund's writers are dumb?

Your experience is fairly limited to the creme de la creme built by GM. I wonder if you would be so loyal if you had bought a Cimarron, Vega, Equinox, Aveo or the problematic PU trucks and SUV from 2000-2007. Your view of GM is about as narrow as is possible. I don't think you would be a Buick fan if you had owned a 1952 Buick PIG with Dynaslop auto transmission. Face it you have been luckier than most with your late model GM vehicles. The good GM trucks I owned were NOT built by UAW labor. They came from Canada and Mexico. So I don't rely on outside sources either. And I have done more than my fair share of blasting Toyota for the junk vehicles they have sold me. I gave Toyota another chance as I would give GM another chance. Not if they change their name to Government Motors to protect the lazy workforce.
BMW? First of all, the very image of a BMW turns me off. I'm actually a nice laid-back kind of guy. I'm not enough of an arrogant jerk, (would like to use a stronger term, but the hosts would boot me) to drive a Bimmer. They've got all the comfort of a city park bench and each pothole would jar the teeth out of your jaws. The maintenance and repair cost scare me more than a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
The Genesis? If I want a car like a Genesis, I'll buy a Toyota Avalon and get it better and cheaper. The Genesis interior looks like a cheap knock-off of the Avalon's. Heck, Hyundai's own Azera looks nicer inside. The Genesis' melted M-B clone grille is indescribably ugly. I guess they couldn't hire Acura's designer. I don't know if Edmunds' reviewers are dumb, but they are most certainly blind. What's wrong with the CTS driving position? I took one out and had no problem.
I wasn't even born in 1952, but I love the styling of those early '50s Buicks! I love the mean aggressive look of the 1950 model especially. The '53, however, was the prettiest. The '54 looks a little anonymous, however.
My experience with GM spans several decades. My first car was a 1968 Buick Special Deluxe which was an excellent first car. I drove it for 3 years before getting my second car - a 1979 Buick Park Avenue - and handed it down to my brother who drove it for another 8 with no problems. My first new car was a 1987 Chevrolet Caprice Classic which I traded for a new 1989 Cadillac Brougham which I still own.
My Grandpop had nothing but big Chevrolets from 1964 until he passed away last September. I remember them all being excellent cars. Grandpop was no fool who casually threw away money. He had a very comfortable retirement.
My Dad had three AWESOME GM cars: a 1955 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Starfire convertible, a 1961 Chevrolet Biscayne, and a 1965 Pontiac GTO convertible.

Also BMW has some of the best complimentary service in the industry. Free oil changes for three years, could you imagine GM doing that? Also the days of premiums for foreign service are long gone.

I don't know about Honda because they do nothing for me at tall. But as for Mitsubishi, they get help from their parent company if need be, and for that matter, they may get government dole-outs, dunno. They are my fave carmaker right now, but indeed their sales are really down. So are having to really cut back right now, on property and workers. Hope they stay, I am predicting they'll make it.
If they could extend the range on that i-MiEV all-electric car, I would get more interested in it than I am in the 2010 Pininfarina-Bollore BlueCar and the 2011 BYD e6. Buy foreign, unless you love to compromise, car nuts!

I'm not sure that is the best attitude, Rock. I graduated from my soundly defeated Final Four Universtiy many, many years ago into a recession. Not a whole lot of jobs then either. But, that changed and my degree did allow me opportunities that a HS degree (or less) most certainly would have not. So, if some UAW workers were to work towards a degree, by the time it is in hand, opportunities beyond the fast food track may well (hopefully) be plentiful.
If they could get a job that paid for their schooling in the interim, BINGO!
Back in the mid '90s, I was downsized. Went to a fine University here in New England for retraining in IT. Received a certificate after going full time for about 3.5 months. Opened up many new opportunities including my now Dilbertian existence (kidding, good job/employer).
More education generally is a good thing. And works.
I'm sure (well, somewhat sure!) the UAW won't be going the way of the buggy whip mfgs and typewriter mfgs (and newspapers?), but it may no longer be the only/best/easiest/entitlement game in town...
