for NY auto show related links. The show is just a bit over two weeks away, so news about new model debuts should be occurring at any moment now.

    Special Public Sneak Preview
    Friday April 18th  11am-8pm

What's this about? How's this differ from a "regular" show day? Do you need a special pass? There's no info on the web site about it.

I'd sure hate to come up from Maryland to have an unhappy surprise—meaning I can't get in!

Maybe we should schedule for another day, to play it safe? If we do change the date, the earliest I could go would be the following Tuesday.

and being a weekend, no one was here. I'll try again, probably Tuesday, as I may not be around Monday. I have a very strong feeling that to see the show on the 18th, you will need a special pass of some sort, or you may not get in.

The "Special Preview" might be limited to just the auto industry folks and/or the press.

    Bob-
I checked their website too. We're good to go.
The Special Public Sneak Preview is open to the public. I gather since the Official [Opening] Public Show isn't until Saturday, is why Friday is "Sneak Preview".

The media folks get their crack at the show starting Wednesday through Thursday. Dealer and Industry Folks on Friday till noon.

    mike-
You think Mark-the-Dealer could pull off a bunch of credentials to get us pass the doors between 9:00am - 12:00noon :D

I still want to double-check. I don't want to travel 200+ miles, only to be surprised.

If I don't forget Monday*, I'll check on it. :)

    * = I said 'tomorrow'... forgot today is Saturday. ;-)

What mark the dealer can do. I bet there are special tickets though. Those passes you gave us though are good on the 18th so I don't see a problem.

Mark, you beat me to it. :D

Now, if "Mark-the-Dealer" could pull a bunch of aces, we could hang out with the Dealers and other Industry folks from 9:00am ;-)

Would we arrive before noon anyway?

It might be a late night, though, if we only start at noon. I'd still go though.

The other option was Friday the 25th, right?

    Quick question, just to confirm:

Is there a group going next Friday, April 18, to the show, and if so, what time?

I'm planning on going with a friend, and wanted to see about meeting you folks there.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Hopefully arriving around noon (if Juice wakes up in time!). That means leaving my place around 7:30 AM, at the latest if we drive, which I think we are. The show opens to the public at noon, so we should get there around then.

Anybody else from MD or PA going?

Also, Edmunds is going to start reporting on the show on the 16th.

Mark you and your friend are welcome to ride along with me. I should be dragging along a bunch of NASIOCers.

I plan to drive to Trenton or Hamilton Twp and take NJ Transit to Penn Station, then walk to Javits (hopefully it's nice weather).

According to the NY auto show voice info line (800-282-3336), the Friday, 4/18, Sneak Preview opens to the public at 11 am.

The show closes at 8 pm, how late do people plan on staying?

FYI - a cars.com article says that 60,000 people attended last year's Sneak Preview.

    Mike,

My friend lives in Bklyn also (off the BP). I'll probably meet him, then do the train route in as well.

    Mark
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
If you want to mark we can caravan to brooklyn leave your car there and pack 4 of us into the SVX, beats a crowed train. I have to drive in either way cause I'll be leaving for Limerock after the show.

Let's meet at the Subie booth. Maybe 1pm, to be safe, make sure we all arrived? They only open at noon.

I'm trying to get Friday off. I was away on biz all last week and have a lot to catch up on in the office, not to mention on this board. ;-)

Like DaveM, I would drive to Hamilton or Trenton NJT station and take the train into Penn Station.

    Mike,

I appreciate the offer. It sounds like a plan. A ride in the SVX rocket before the show! Let me just confirm with my friend, then I'll get back to you.

    Thanks again,
    Mark

Let me know it'll be a blast. Your friend doesn't get sick easily do they?
If you want we can hookup and hit a diner in brooklyn or something beforehand for breakfast.

All this talk about going to show sounds like great fun. Anyone want to stop by my place in Seattle and pick me up? ;) LOL!

Enjoy the show guys. Already looking forward to all you're great reports and photos!

Subaru Enthusiasts Club of America AKA SECA will be having a meeting.

This is quickly becoming the BMWCCA/PCA for subarus. It's just getting it's feet on the ground but it looks to be promising.

Meeting will be held at the Ruby Tuesdays in Woodbridge, NJ. All subaru owners are welcome to attend.

There will have to be chapters on the West Coast so that there can be a Laguna SECA. ;-)

    Ed
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Yup that was the idea when I came up with the name :) I pushed for the SECA acronym so that it could be tied into Laguna SECA! :)

Ed - Do you recommend Trenton or Hamilton station for NJ Transit? Hamilton is a few miles further but I was thinking that parking might be difficult at Trenton. I'm probably going to take the 9:30ish or 10:00ish train to the show tomorrow.

    DaveM
  • lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
Hamilton - more parking available, a little safer area, less likelihood of being accosted to/from the station itself.

I have some work to do at home in the morning, hope to catch the train around 10:00, certainly before noon. I'd better go check the schedule.

    Hamilton it is.

I'm still deciding as to when to arrive at the show.

Missed the other side of the pic, about 2 sec late ;)

9659->9662 Hypov wanted to see if/where the uppipe was and if it was catless, so I stuck the camera down in the engine and shot some pics.
