and Happy New Year to all. Yeah, I know - kinda late. But, I had the last 2 weeks off and didn't spend much time on the PC at home. Anyway, tried to log in to the chat Thursday, but it wouldn't let me. Appears to be common. Finally got some snow last night (only about 3-4 inches) but too late to have fun. I'll have to wait for the next one to try out the OB. Hope all are doing well.

Thanks, Karen, I am still having problems even now (Monday morning). Gotta manually check all the topics.

paisan: is it even possible to get 3 tons to leave the earth? Wow, can't wait to see it.

So much for snow, we got almost nuthin'! The kid wanted to make a snow man, and there wasn't even enough for that.

Check it out, Subaru won two Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards. Thanks to Jon for providing me with the link.

It's an amazing accomplishment for a tiny, niche manufacturer with 1% of the total market share to beat out the giants like that.

The Forester number is impressive, given it's still the 1st generation (mild update in 2001). When the 2003 Forester arrives, that numbers could actually improve.

The Legacy's number is phenomenal. One third of Legacy owners buy another Legacy, almost double the class average for owners loyalty.

Can't speak for the Onan's being *the* quietest, but they've gotta be close! They're at least accepted in most campgrounds, and we've never had any complaints, mostly because we're careful to observe the usual "quiet hours". I can tell you that there are a lot of other makes/models/brands that are noisier! With the kiddos, it's more necessary in those campgrounds without hookups, especially with one who has a touch of asthma - gotta have 110AC for his nebulizer compressor. We can run the A/C & microwave simultaneously without any trouble. Those are the two biggest draws.

    Cheers!

I'll try to get caught up with you folks tonight (long story about why I haven't been here much). Anyway, make sure you check out Subaru.com tonight after 6:00. Look towards the lower left of the screen for new product information!

Any time you go for some time without seeing any "new" posts—especially with this group—you can figure something fishy is going on with the edmunds site.

The new content is up on the SOA homepage! Looks very cool!

    Ken

PS. Do the subscriptions work for anyone else yet?
  • subearusubearu Member Posts: 3,613
I've gone back to just looking in the Subaru Crew breadcrumb instead and just refreshing that.

You have got to IMPROVE WebX! I have spent over two hours this morning trying to get on this site!!! It is obviously not able to handle large crowds.

I just started a "Subaru Baja" topic over in the "Pickup" area. This will open the discussion of this vehicle to a whole new audience. Should be interesting...

Can we get that discussion linked to the Subaru Crew please? Thank you.

I was looking at a consumer report issue yesterday and noticed that they were rating V6 sedans. What caught my eye was the price of the Camry that they were rating. They said that the price "after adding the normally added options was $29,990". I remember when the H6 LL Bean wagon came out and many of the auto magazines were complaining about the 30k sticker price. I guess it is OK if the sticker is lower but the options take it over 30k. . OK rant over

I hear you loud and clear...and you can imagine how not impressed with the software and how frustrated the hosts are with the situation. All I can say is that management is working on making it more efficient and reliable, but it takes time.

Because the Town Hall was down for several hours, I've not had the opportunity to check on the subscription issue, but will do so asap.

    Bob-
I'll get that Baja discussion linked to the Crew right now. Thanks for letting me know about it!

This may be premature (I've yet to hear anything officially), but I "think" the subscriptions are working now. At least the new messages were showing in my message center.

The last time the subscriptions went nutso, I deleted all of the edmunds.com cookies, logged in manually, and then checked subscriptions. Did the same just now and it looks to be working.

Please let me know if you're still experiencing subscription problems.

I'm still in 35 mm technology, you see... plus, my ISP went belly up, and I have to rebuild my web site on a new server...
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    My subscriptions are finally back.

Frank: Toyota does that to you. They advertise Camrys for $19k, but if you want a V6 auto with leather and a moonroof, before you know it, you're paying $30k.

Anyone know details about PhotoPoint.com? What's the deal? Any hope?

I know there have been a lot of problems with the various image hosting sites over the last few months. Since there are a fair amount of Mac users among us, I wanted to mention Apple's free iTools and mac.com web hosting. I have been putting images and web sites up there since early 2000 and it has always worked great. The integration with the Mac OS makes it a snap, and the newly released (and free) iPhoto software lets you import, edit, and post your images on a web page in a few simple steps. I used to do it the long way, with about 3-4 different apps required. iPhoto does it all from one place. Very nice.

Adobe has something called ActiveShare which sounds a little similar to what iPhoto brings.

Someone shared a link to a site with several models. I think there were 45 or so, including a couple of 360s and Legacys, plus dozens of Imprezas. No Foresters, arrrgh!

Now this place has 8 different Imprezas and one Legacy, unbelievable!

Chat tonight: I may not make it, because I have an out of town guest coming over tonight that I haven't seen since 1985. An old high school buddy.

I was hoping to be back in the chat tonight. We are still having problems. AOL 7.0 does not want to leave our system. My husband is working on it today, so hopefully he'll have it cleared up by tonight (Norton Utilities kept a copy and it keeps trying to restore it to our PC. The AOL that wouldn't die!!!!!!!)

One of Michael's friends loaded it on their PC and it really messed it up also. They went back to 6.0
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
A collegue here also crashed his PC with 7. He's looking for a AOL 6.0, anyone know where he can get it?

I'm still on AOL 5.0, and also have 4.0 still on my system.

AOL 7.0 (or ever 6.0), aren't to my knowledge, yet available on MACs, which is what I use.

We can thank Dave Richards of Prodrive for that!

From the Financial Times of London, July 2000
"A new World Rally Championship designed to rival Formula One is being launched with the support of leading motor manufacturers.

David Richards, the entrepreneur who has bought the media rights to world championship rallying from Bernie Ecclestone, the Formula One promoter, plans a global television schedule that would alternate rallies with grand prix. "

    Taken from my i-club reply:

    Isn't a good search function cool? :-)

This wasn't getting much attention on the WRX wagon owner's board, so I thought I would cross post it. First rally wagon I've seen!

I switched from cable to satellite mainly because cable was not available up at our camp.

We love the crystal clear picture and cd quality sound, however one fly in the ointment is frequent short outages due to weather problems interfering with the signal.

While the outages are usually short they can sometimes bollox up the program that you are watching.

    Cheers Pat.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Any change whatsoever to the Aztec would be an improvement. Give me a sledge hammer, I'll make it better! ;-)

Now THAT is a sport wagon! Yeee-haw!
