Loosh: I just don't understand some dealers. Past a certain point, they start losing money just by having the car sit on the lot because of the interest they are paying. They should be anxious to unload an unloved 03 and cut their losses.
I guess it's good that used WRXs are holding their value so well unless you're a buyer. Heck, you may as well get the 04 and then turn your attention to smoothing things over with your wife! 03, 04, ahh, it's all trivial compared to keeping the wife happy! (my wife still gives me a hard time about my somewhat-impulsive WRX purchase, I'll probably never live it down).

1) no kids yet, it's a good time to do it now because I probably won't be able to afford or justify it with a family
2) was affordable in my current budget
3) driving the car is a blast!
4) I could get run over by a bus tomorrow, so I may as well enjoy myself today
5) if this is the worst thing my wife can complain about, then I'm probably doing OK!
Craig
The driver was not edging over the 35mph speed limit at all. I tried to get next to him at the light and ask how many tickets were in his collection already, but he wouldn't keep up with me. Wagons can sneak 4 mph over I guess, but not a rally looking blue streak.

I could get used to the pug-nosed, cross-eyed look :-), but the '03's seats are excellent! I only sat in the '04 once at the NY auto show and was a little disappointed. I would spend some more time in each if I were you.

which reminds me, I don't think I can get the RS seats out of the GT. The previous owner removed the seats to do an amp install, and kind of mangled the threads on the driver side; we barely got the bolt out and the RS seats in. Think anyone would notice on the trade? Or should I bring the OEM seats along and let them worry about it?
We had started discussing adopting before we went to Mexico, but when we were down there my wife started talking to a few women with new borns. I guess her "biological clock" started ticking rather loudly; one of the people recommended looking into kids from El Salvador - even gave us her number since her sister just went through it. I'm trying to get her to go with me to an intro to adoption session one of the agnecies offers. I have to admit it's a scary thought. Last week I turned 42 and I'm thinking do I or don't I want kids. That's why I'm curious to others experiences. Good Luck, and congrats on finally getting a date!
Brenda- Hope everyone is doing better. Just hang in there and make sure you all get some rest. Keep us up to date.
Mark
I e-mailed Loosh pretty much the same sentiment about the '04 being a far better deal, but...the seats are a biggie. Keep in mind he swapped the seats on his Legacy GT, so that does matter.
Brenda: hang in there. If he's out of the ICU that's gotta be good news.
-juice
Mark: I'll keep you posted on the over-40 first-time dad experience. ;-)
Ed
-juice
Brenda- that's good news!
Mark- oh great, I'm 33 and having that struggle. I thought it became clearer!?
Juice- actually Kirsten has been very clear- absolutely no minivans until we get into the 3 kid range, if ever. She's happy with the OB and intends to stay with good-handling, AWD wagons. Guess who else wants a WRX?

Since I look after my cars better than most, I could also say that there was never a compelling reason to trade any of them but I did, on that note I was talking to the guy yesterday who bought the 93 Accord wagon that I traded on the Subaru. He has added 200,000 kilometers to it and says it is the best car he ever owned.
The moral, I could still be driving that car quite comfortably but I ain't.
Cheers Pat.
Cheers Pat.

You can thank the obesity epidemic in the US for the change in the '04 seats. They're not as snug, but still pretty nice.
Ken
I prefer the '03 seats also. They braced you better, and the smaller head rest never got in the way.
-juice
Juice- "Sport Styled seats" they call them now. I guess if it becomes too big a deal I can swap somehow. Hey wait, who said I was buying!?!
(ugh. the thought of returning the GT to stock, minimal though the mods may be, does not thrill me.)
Or I could wait for a 9-2X
Mod un-install: Maybe mike can cut you a deal with AZP?
9-2X: While the upscale trim does look nice, I'm not sure how comfortable I am having to rely on the Saab dealer network chain. We've got it pretty good here with Patti looking over us.
Ken
That's the thing. At this stage of life we have become comfortable as just the 2 of us. On the other hand, everyone around us have kids. Heck, I'm a great uncle twice! It'd be nice to teach someone to drive stick though, like my dad tried to do for me.
Mark
Kids are loads of fun. I watch my 16 month old playing with a Matchbox car and I get all choked up! ;-)
Just wait 'til they can drive go-carts.

OK - feel better now.
Greg
Hate the driver, not the car!

P.s. saw a Baja with Mfr. tags today. I waved; figure he might know Patti or something.
It'll be therapeutic.

So, as much as I hate to let anyone down, I really can't share what I see/hear for now. I'm hoping that this will change during my tenure, but who knows. I'm sorry about this.
Just so you know, don't always believe the rumors that you hear/read on the web. Some folks will say things thinking it's harmless, but some of what's "out there" is incorrect. With things like pricing, it's not locked in until it's very close to a launch.
The gentlemen that I met with today recognize that this will be a big product launch and I believe that they will be actively finding ways to involve the folks here. They also recognize what "works" and what doesn't with these chats, so I think they will be much better in the future than what we've seen. Stay tuned!
Patti
How does "Loose Lips Sinks Ship" sound?
It's not a SoA or FHI thing. It's all industries. It's a warfare out there, seriously.

For instance, maybe the week of the auto shows where a new model debuts, host a special chat where we can ask questions about the new model.
For *once*, they can talk, they'll have a receptive audience, and we can get questions answered. Plus they can measure early reaction.
I'd love to hear other ideas.
Great chat. 31 people! Missed the record by just one person! If you are reading this and you did not come, it's your fault! ;-)

juice: kids are loads of fun...but they grow up into teenagers! Also, like your idea about a chat at product launch. By then, just about everything's finalized and they can talk.
At a former company, we actually kept our sales people in the dark about new products. Their job was to sell TODAY'S products. They saw new products just prior to launch at a "rah! rah!" sales meeting.

Mike- I don't know if I can handle a group of the "N" club people for a couple of weeks. I've already got the gray hair, I don't want to lose it:-) Actually , I "rent" for a weekend at a time my nieces. I'm looking forward to renting them for a week next year, and take them to Mexico with us.
Mark
I strongly advise that you go to an adoption workshop. We went to one in 1995 at CW Post University on Long Island. They ran an excellent full day affair at that time. A well done program will help you and your wife explore your inner soul to see if it is right for you. I wish you the best of luck.

Winds was CRAZY around here yesterday. A 4"x4" pole support in my car port blew out of place. It has a fence attached to it and the whole thing almost fell over.
Thankfully it didn't hit the Subies. The fence actually kept it from falling entirely, but it was dangling loose! Had to do an emergency fix and then brace it up, all last night in the wind chill.
My grill cover blew off, and I only found it this morning. It took off like a kite!
