yes Juice, I did AIO the fronts of the rims for now, planning on the backside of 'em this weekend.

Oh that thing just wants to go. Turned onto a 6-lane divided highway today and moderately accelerated in 2nd and 3rd, just letting it breath a little above 4k rpm but below 5k rpm. Varooooom!

Got it's first rain today too. Love the intermittent (and selectable delay) front wipers AND the rear intermittent wipers.

Klasse All-In-One (AIO) is an acrylic cleaner/polish/protectant that doesn't stain plastic. Easy application and you use very little product. Wipe on, wipe off. Sold online usually, just do a google search for Klasse.

Moonroof going in Wednesday, I drop it off tomorrow. Should be getting a loaner as it'll be back on Thursday afternoon.

And...I can relate to the power thing. Isn't it a blast to drive???

I'm thrilled for you and the family. Have fun!

I posted some data on the 2005 board (even though it is closing on Wednesday). I'll post over here after that.

Other impressions - very comfortable seating. Side curtain air-bag set up is great. When they deploy they actually stay inflated for a few seconds vs. the front and side impact bags (for rebounding if it is hit).

LAN set-up with connections of all systems. Prioritization of data read from system to system. Very nice "Immobilzer" security system in the top of the line. Great sounding stereo. 5EAT Sportshift is SMOOOTTTTHHHH and gutsy. Heck, I could even like a manual trans. again. Much less delay between park/drive and park/reverse.

Side protection in a wrap design vs. the horizontal bar, break away brake pedal if in an accident, passenger side air-bag on/off w/ sensors (I don't know why the net carrier is on the passenger seat and not the driver when you shouldn't put things on the passenger side with this set-up - how's this for a run on sentence??)

Hmmm - I'll bore you more later I guess!

    Patti,

    Thanks for the info!

Immoblizer in "top of the line" -- VDC only?

More on the 5EAT please! That's what I'm probably going to end up ordering.

psssh no kidding. The car loves to 4-wheel drift now, predictably stable. Of course it's the Geos that howl in protest, and the rest of the car saying, "shaddup, crybabies!"

Thanks! BTW, did you see that I will be visiting your comrades next week? Change products and come join us!
  • lucien2lucien2 Member Posts: 2,984
I need a week off. So I'm taking a week off.

Spent yesterday running errands and a litte light OCD (still sore from the installs). Last night made reservations at Gramercy Park Hotel in Manhattan. We'll head out in a few hours, spend the evening in NY, dine at Gramercy Tavern, and do some more stuff tomorrow morning, probably lunch at either Balthazar or Artisinal. Then back to MD for a night before pointing the XT south for a couple of days on Skyline Drive. Kirsten is calling it the "Big City, Big Country" tour.

Friday the 14th-Thursday 20th. going to Orlando to visit some friends.

put in 61 hours last week and didn't get a dime of overtime. of course, I usually only work 45 hours a week and am not compensated badly for it... but yeah I need a break too.

Patti: do you have EPA mpg figures for the H6 model?

There is no way I'm ever gonna catch up on all the posts I've missed. It's been quite a ride these last 12 mos. In no particular order, major back surgery, wife of 17 yrs left me, my house is for sale, and finding a new home is tough in this market. Oh yeah, my wife took the Forester !!!

If it wasn't for the WRX and my motorcycle, there would be nothing to live for :)

    I'll be around now.........

Good to see you back on the boards, Hutch. Though I am having some flashbacks to the time you scared the pants off me driving in the Edmunds Live event! ;-)

Hang in there, you're among friends and we'll offer up whatever support we can.

Except next time I'll be wearing Depends.

Hutch, welcome back! as a fellow divorcee, although under different circumstances it sounds like, I offer both condolences and congratulations. Congrats on moving forward and finding happiness-- within yourself with a WRX and motorcycle is a good place to start. Spend some time with good friends and volunteering-- giving yourself (in a different way) will make you feel a lot better a lot faster.

Good luck, God bless and again, welcome back.

Welcome back Hutch but sorry to hear about your personal travails. Might I suggest taking the WRX for a spin on some twisty back roads to brighten your day :-)

    Yes, condolences and congrats!
I've crossed over from a WRX wagon to an XT (after my Rex was stolen/recovered).

Indeed, welcome back! Sorry to hear this year has been a bummer for you. Gosh... that's a lot to swallow. Keep your chin up, things will get better! :)

  • thecatthecat Member Posts: 535
for all the words of encouragement. Bob, things would almost have to get better. You know the old saying "that which doesn't kill you makes you strong", well it was touch and go there for awhile.

Sure do miss that Forester though ...

Whatever we have is tied up in the beach house, so we'll be house poor for a while. Even then, it'll go in to my Get Off The Fence Fund.

I'll trade my Forester for your WRX for a week. Seriously, let me know when.

    -juice
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
Well Hutch, you could trade the WRX for a Forester XT, and get the best of both worlds. ;)

I know you skipped most of the posts, but did you know juice and I are going to Las Vegas this weekend to drive the all-new Legacys and Outbacks, courtesy of SOA?

Yeah, almost as bad as Juice. He's whining about not being allowed to test drive the new GT at his local dealer. "Oh poor me, I'll have to wait until Vegas! WAAH-WAAH"

Sorry to hear that but glad to have you back on the boards.... Maybe you can come out to summit point and watch us at an HPDE sometime!

I already miss my XT - it's getting a moonroof installed tomorrow. Got an '04 Grand Caravan as a loaner.

Welcome back! Good to hear from you again.

Sounds like you had a pretty rough year. I hope you can find comfort in the fact that we're still here talking Subaru -- some good things don't change.

again. While we've communicated via other avenues in the more recent past - it's good to see you here amongst friends that care about you - a lot!

Congrats on your new and exciting life! I hope the back is doing well.

    Hey Juice - sorry - I missed that - it's 19/25 with a combined estimate of 22.

FWIW - these are the EPA estimates. Real life has demonstrated a wide variance in my opinion - from better to worse. There's so much you can do to improve performance. Maintain it well, keep your tire pressures right (the new tire pressure monitor will help) and use good quality fuel. You may pay less for some off brands, but your usage may be impacted. Just my opinion of course.

Also - in some areas of PA and in the mid-west, there is some really bad fuel out on the market. I've heard through good sources that some fuel company reps. are looking into it, but if you are experiencing some problems, you may want to check the fuel filter.

Are you going to sign up for the Saab Proving Ground event at Ft. Washington on 6/28 or 6/29? They're having a driving event for the 9-2X from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. I'm sure you'd enjoy telling the Saab people about "your" product. ;) I signed up for Tuesday, 6/29.

I posted a link in the Cafe.

They also have other cities listed, including the newly relocated Washington, DC (the DC event is in Dover, DE!).

Papa Bear: does it have the stow and go seating? Just curious. Check that feature out, pretty cool.

Those Saab crazies, Dover is about two full hours from DC, it's ridiculous to label that a DC event!

no stow-n-go seating, just the normal track seating. 2 captain chairs in the 2nd row, 1 bench in the 3rd row. I miss the roll down rear windows too.

It's been around a while, has about 16k on the odo.

    Welcome back!

Dennis- How did I not know that!? Oh well. We had a blast. We'll be back again.

    Gramercy Tavern- wow.
  • thecatthecat Member Posts: 535
to everybody for your encouragement. This really is a "class" group of people.

Forester XT instead of WRX .. hummmm. Actually, the WRX is wasted on me. It's a rare occasion when I really drive it hard. I'm a geeser! Also, I have to confess that the current cost of premium fuel is an issue. I do however miss the utility of the Forester.

Brenda ... 26 years huh? It reminds me of the saying "I had no shoes and complained until I met a man (woman in your case) that had no feet".

Juice - shore home huh ... I did mention that I'm looking for a new place to live .. didn't I? :) BTW - if Tati needs paper I've got a ton.

A belated welcome home! I'm sorry to hear the last year has been a bumpy ride. Now that you're back in the Subaru fold, perhaps that will help fill in some of the potholes. :-)

we're up now after 9 hours of sleep (ahhh, get the feeling we needed a break?), and turning our attention to Skyline Drive. We'll find a dog-friendly place to stay online, make a rezzie and get the Uber-roo packed again (yea, I just have to make that our vanity plate). I've got to scrape of all those NJ bugs from the windscreen and the headlights too. We went between 70 and 75 on the way up, turning in an all-time-high of 25.6 MPG. That was 100% highway. Coming back was a lot of stop and go, and then me trying to make up the time. I can tell just by looking at the guage we're going to get closer to 23 on this tank. Actually, I think I'll fill up before we leave and try 70 mph again, see what I get.
