Keep guessing :-)
Bob
Craig
Craig, I've learned as I get older and become more of a 'weekend warrior' that anti-inflammatories have become my friend. ;-). Just remember to always take them with food and stop if your stomach hurts or you start bleeding out orifices. Also not recommended if you have bad kidneys. ;-)
tom
Good to see you back.
I just passed 100k so I'd guess 132k?
Jim
Steve
I say 110k miles.
Don't forget the chat tonight, folks!

Re: tonight's chat - Mod-Bob is celebrating his yearly milestone, but will be waiting till the chat is over to lift his b-day brew. :-)
-juice
Neither one of them old enough to brew-hoist as yet, though... so I guess I'll do it for them!
Cheers! (clink!)
Paul
112K - Colin (locke2c)
115K - Steve (fibber2)
132K - Jim (jfl)
110K - Juice (ateixeira)
any more entries?
Cheers!
Paul
I'll be on the chat for a little while anyway. I might be late or have to leave early, but I'll be there.
Sorry I haven't been posting much. I'm learning my new job. The woman that I'm replacing worked her last day today. I've had to cram with the learning as she's done a great job for over 20 years. She left some tough shoes to fill
Patti
Bob
sorry just wishful thinking for ya!
Cheers Pat.
...that anti-inflammatories have become my friend. ;-).
Any thoughts as to the advantages/disadvantages of different anti-inflammatories?
Jim - not yet an A-I abuser.
There is a new(er) class of anti-inflammatories that are prescription only, called Cox-2 inhibitors. You've probably heard of one that's just been voluntarily pulled off the market, Vioxx, because there is an increased incidence of strokes and heart attacks. The 2 other drugs available in this category are Bextra and Celebrex, which you also may have heard of. We don't know yet if the same issues as Vioxx apply to Bextra and Celebrex, but it's possible.
Basically, these drugs have the same pain killing effects as Ibuprofen (motrin) and the like with less incidence of ulcers and kidney failure, and no effect on your platelets (which stop you from bleeding when you cut yourself- a good thing to have). But I don't recommend them anymore to people with potential heart problems or are at risk for strokes. Better to be safe than very sorry. They probably are safe, but we don't really know yet.
Kind of a long answer to a short question. Sorry if I put anyone to sleep (I have that tendency when I lecture) ;-)
tom
A diet that contains a good dose of vitamin K should compensate if you're on medication that may reduce the platelets.
IIRC my biology, vitamin K is a clotting agent.

Now, let's guess how many miles are on my last set of tires... (just kidding!)
Maybe I should play the lottery today.

Given a choice, I would like to have dinner with the attractive and talented Kate on my next trip out to Silicon Valley.
Steve
If you're on blood thinners (warfarin/coumadin) than eating foods rich in Vit K will make it harder to thin your blood, which is not good.
Maybe this is too much information! Sorry!
Have a good weekend everyone!

Subaru Crew - Ask Dr. Tom
LOL! Rob M.
For winning Steve earns the Title of Vice President for Statistical Data Planning.
We can't afford to promote Colin because we need him in Technical. ;-)
We should bring back Ross and we could have an "Subaru Crew - Meet the Doctors" thread.

tom
I suggest we get the letter writing campaign going, it worked last time. I can't think what Subaru could be thinking, Patti IMHO is a far better deal for them than all the advertising they can buy.
Hell, I would venture to say she is a better advocate for the crew than Lance Armstrong and God only knows what his endorsement is costing them.
Cheers Pat.
I'll try to get more info on what's going on. Her participation has been voluntary all along, maybe they can make it officially unofficial?
-juice
I've been in touch with juice, and I've e-mailed Patti to get further clarification on how to proceed. I haven't heard back from her yet. I don't think we should do anything until Patti gives us some indication as to what, if anything can be done. The last thing we want to do is to put her new job at risk, so I'd like to first get some feedback from her first. In the meantime, let's keep our finger crossed.
Bob
tom
Not having Patti around is a big loss. While I don't understand why it would conflict with her new job, I don't see why she couldn't participate just as an individual. Of course, that would mean that she couldn't be on offical business, but I think we all value her company regardless.
Ken
I wouldn't want to cause her any problems either, Like Ken just said i don't see any reason why she could not participate here as a regular member.
I just fail to see the reason behind this, she never went over the line she never ever dissed the company in any way. On the contrary she has always gone out of her way to stress what a great company it was to work for.
Cheers Pat.
I am sure she could participate on her own time, outside of business hours, and that's all we should expect for now! If, like the rest of us slackers, she finds time to post during the day that would be good too!
Craig
The real issue SOA should tackle is getting someone to replace her presence here in the same compacity. I know Patti mentioned she was trying to look into that. As long as someone had the same commitment to helping fellow TH members as Patti did, I'd be happy with a new representative from SOA.
Perhaps that is the letter issue we should pursue - getting and insuring a suitable replacement for Patti here on TH.
-Brian
Craig
We also have Dr. Volks (sorry, but I don't think I have his name spelled correctly) as well.
Steve
Ross...where are you? I think we need counseling!
Jim
I've been in touch with juice, but just briefly, as he's been swamped at work. I'm sure this week we will try to figure out a game plan of some sort.
To further complicate the issue (for me) is that Deb (my wife) is having surgery this Thursday, so I may (?) be somewhat out of the loop for a while. I just don't know yet.
Bob
Whatever is decided count on me to at least add my 2 cents.
Cheers Pat.
