We have not talked about a deposit yet, but I would not mind a refundable deposit to hold my spot.
As usual, focus on your out the door price :-)

However, I don't understand why anyone would consider the purchase of an extended warranty at $1,500 or even $500. You're purchasing a Toyota...a vehicle known for reliability. Chances are very slim that you'll ever have covered repairs that equal the cost of the warranty. My '97 Avalon has 140,000 miles. The only nonstandard-maintenance expense I've had was to replace the eccentric on the windshield wiper motor...$187. And that was at 110,000 miles and would not have been covered by an extended warranty. Other than scheduled fluids/filters/plugs replacement, the only expenses I've incurred are for new brake pads at 125,000 miles and new struts at 135,000 miles.
Save your hard-earned bucks and forego the extended warranty!
STEP 1 says: Contact your selling dealer for all repair work. If this is not possible, then you must contact the Administrator PRIOR TO PROCEEDING WITH REPAIRS.
The dealership I bought mine from (for $925) is 2 miles from my home. The dealerships mentioned in post 3604 (KC summers etc.) are several thousand miles away. This seems to imply that I will have to get a clearance from Toyota before I get anything done using the warranty if I were to buy it from KC summers etc. A very annoying "feature". I'm not sure whether its the difference. I'll have to think about it.
THe toyota warranties can be canceled in the first 30 days for full refund, but only if you have paid for it separately in cash, and not as part of the car financing deal. Don't put the two items on the same sales contract ! The dealer will automatically put the warranty as a financed item and then if you go to get a refund, he will say that the "bank" will take payments off the end of your loan, i.e. you have to wait 3-5 years (whatever the length of your loan) to get the money back.
On my 1992 Camry, I did 137,xxx in 10 years with no major problems. The minor things weren't that bad(new power antenna, new power window regulator). My 2002 Camry is at 46,xxx with nothing so far, major or minor.
However, my parents purchased a new Sienna XLE in March and I recommended that they get the extended warranty. My mother, who is a one of smartest shoppers I know, asked me why I would recommend a warranty when I didn't get one on any of my Toyotas?
My response was that the level of power equipment on the Sienna concerned me, especially the three power doors and the six disc changer in the dash. No matter how good Toyotas are, those motors, relays, etc. in the doors have a good possibility to be a source of failure in the time they will own the van. And if they go just once in the time they own the van, the warranty will have paid for itself.
I doubt that they would ever have a problem with the powertrain, but who knows? This is a new Transmission and Engine.
If you get a good deal on the Toyota warranty I would go for it.

The bottom line is that IT'S GOOD ANYWHERE IN NORTH AMERICA (including Canada). "Selling dealer" here means the one sold you the vehicle not the warranty. However, whoever takes on the repair job is the one who will contact the Administrator.
One more point, the finance guy might still be holding a grudge against you. But the service department will not care as who sold you the vehicle, who sold you the contract, or for how much. They will NOT care if the finance guy had made enough! All they want is more work!!
The dealer I bought mine from is about 10 miles away because they had better pricing. But that's the end of the relationship I have with them. I will be using the dealer a few city blocks away for all my service needs. Again, it's YOUR choice, not the selling dealer's.

It sounds like making a $925 prepayment to your loan. It does not change the monthly payment. But it will shorten the life of the loan as well as the total interests you'll be paying. IMHO, not a bad way to get more than four hundred dollars back.
I am in Louisiana but I'd be interested to know what people are paying anywhere. Thank you.

It's an AWD model, has three power doors, and is the first year of production. I paid $800 for the 7yr/100K/$0ded warranty, and I figure it will more than pay for itself if even one of these power door motors fail within 100K miles. It's hardly a fool's bet, as you imply.
'97 Avalons weren't that complicated-- I'd have skipped the warranty back then, too.
Who is that agent for the extended warranty ? Can i have name ? I need to buy exact same wrranty for my sienna when i get the vehicle. Thanks

I'm in Staten Island, NY.
Expecting my new silver Sienna Limited FWD with HO, RB, RF and CF by the end of the month.
Thanks to this great forum. It really helped me to get the best possible price.

Moonroof 1,500

Total: $29,333 - How does that sound? Did we get a good deal?
We compromised a bit on the package. Originally we wanted #11 or #10 with added sunroof. Sounds like these are almost impossible to get in the the New York region. This was VERY frustrating at first (why print a national brochure if you can't get all trim levels and options nation-wide?). But maybe Toyota did us a favor - maybe our 22 month old (and his sibling due in 4 wks)doesn't need a DVD player. My husband really wanted the in-glass antenna and I wanted the JBL stereo but sacrificing both has saved us $2-$3,000 or more. Plus, we'll have this thing taken care of before the new baby comes.
Anyone care to confirm or dispute our success? Anyone else have similar issues with LE #10 or #11? Thanks!
Could you please advise which dealer you received this deal from, and also Could you please email me the address and the saleman as I am interested in a similar package that you received. My email is in my profile. Thank you in advance.
Regards
I am looking for the same package and live in Northern, NJ. What dealer did you purchase from?
Was this thru the internet?
Thanks
Be a smart buyer and stick to invoice (or below!). Be firm and tell them - "This is my last offer. For me this car is worth $xx,xxx. If you accept this offer, I will buy the van from you ASAP. If not, I am not in a hurry and can wait for the 05 Odyssey to be released."
Midwest dealers are offering Siennas at $100 over invoice or even lower after some deliberation.
Best of luck and lets show them its a buyer's market.
I didn't know it's a buyer's market when it comes to imports too
BTW, from what I read, can a Sienna be made to your specific order?
Did you try edmunds.com, invoicedealers.com, autobytel.com or similar services. U should be offered $500 over invoice off the bat and then you can work ur way down. I strongly recommend you find emails for all local dealerships and then approach them with your best offer.
Performance Toyota, Beechmont Toyota, Ed Martin Toyota and Butler Toyota are your best bets.
Tamu, YES you can order your Sienna with different options. Usually it takes around 3-4 weeks turnaround time. And U are right - Domestics just don't offer the quality or value.
Best of luck.
I think we got a good deal - for the NYC region, anyway. Seems like car buyers around here are willing to pay up so they don't offer LE with packages 10 or 11 because they know they can talk buyers into going for the XLE for 5,000 more. Have you had a similar experience? I would be intersted to hear what you think. Good luck!
With the birth of our second child, we are suddenly in the market for a minivan (our current 2002 elantra gt is pretty tight w/ two car seats and a stroller). I will prolly be buying an 04 odyssey or 04 sienna. My question is, when do you guys think would be the best time to buy the 04 sienna...seems like the prices our getting better and better everyday (although you guys in seattle seem to have it tough), and with the 05 odyssey coming out, i've got to think the deals will be getting even better. I'm looking at a CE or LE (not more than around 25k), and i can wait for a few more months if that will save me a significant amount of money. Whaddya think? In august/september w/ the new oddy out, are the prices going to be that much better? How about 4-6 months from now? I guess, ultimately, when is the best time to strike? Thanks to all in advance...

btw-- i live in southern ohio, in case anyone's gotten a good deal near there lately.
Would you mind sending along the email address of the salesperson you dealt with? Sounds like you got a great deal on something very similar to what I'd like. Dealership shopping with the kids isn't very much fun. Also, how much did they charge for your extended protection? Thanks!
