$18 grand after the deductible? That's great resale value.

    Whatcha gonna buy?

I'm looking for an AT WRX to test out.
If I like it and if I can pull off a MY03 buy for ~$20k, I go for it. Otherwise, I may settle for the TS wagon. :)

If I can convince him a Legacy GT Wagon turboed :)

$23k is more like it. What about a slightly used 2002?

$22,116 for a WRX wagon at fitzmall right now, that is tempting! Their cheapest auto is $23,761, a sedan with the spoiler.

VIP at fitzmall gets you the internet price, but with the benefits of the higher price. You basically get 6 oil changes and a loaner for service.

I must admit, I'm quite faint at heart. Can't say I could go through with it. :)

Think WRX wagon or Legacy L/SE. ;-)

    Ed
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
$18790 for an L/SE at Fitz, that's less than I have invested in our L! DOH!

And that's with 2 moonroofs vs. 1, 16" vs. 15". The only thing I have on it is a 6CD+tape instead of a single CD player.

Run, don't walk, and snap it up!

Speaking of L/SE, is there a reason Legacy doesn't have seat hight adjuster other than GT? I know that niether L nor L/SE have that anymore... :(
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Cost? Did they have it before? Our 2002 doesn't.

The seat is at a good height for both me and my wife, though, and I'm 4" taller than her.

    -juice
  • dudedude Member Posts: 123
All legacys had height adjustment before 2000, after that I think it went away. I think it's ridiculous that, if forester L gets a hight adjustment and some imprezas, it would be stupid not to put one in.
  • hondafriekhondafriek Member Posts: 2,984
I thought all Legacys after MY2000 had six way power seat with height adjustment, my 2001 Gt has got it.

    Cheers Pat.

    Dave,

How long are you going to wait to buy your new Subie? Would you wait for the restyled WRX?

    Ken
  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
    Ken-
Well, I've got my check from the Insurance. Now, it's only a matter of test driving a chook-o-matic WRX. I'm trying to set a date with a fellow i-Club'er to ride his AT WRX tomorrow. If I go for the WRX, I'll not wait for the restyle. The restyle isn't sitting right in term of my taste, and, I've grown to like the bugged eyes of the current style. It's cute. :) and stands out in the crowd unless it's next to a dozen other Neons. ;-)

Pat: no, our Legacy's seat adjustments are manual. That's fine with me, I never thought those were a big deal at all.

    How was the ride, Dave?

Try the 2.5GT, the shiftronic is nice. It's a bit pricey, though.

    juice-
Didn't get to the test drive.
One thing led to another, and by the time either of us got any free time it was pretty late.
Will try again next weekend :)

Flemington! Somerset, might be a little closer to you if that's a concern. Although the roads around Flemington are a lot more fun! :-D

  • lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
Dave, IIRC I did mention to you that Flemington was where I got to test drive an AT WRX sedan. The low-end torque and turbo lag issues were nothing I couldn't live with IMO and the WRX has moved solidly into first place in my "next car" list (though why they can't put the Sportshift into it is beyond me).

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
We're gonna lose Ed to the "dark side" if that turbo Forester doesn't come soon. ;-)

I heard June, if you can wait. Frank, Ken, and I are all anxiously awaiting, too.

Checked a 2003 Legacy L at the dealers while I was waiting for the re prgramming, the Canadian L gets the six way power seat I knew I was not dreaming.

I guess the American cars get less content and more optional items I will never understand manufacturers logic, particularly when Canada and the states are so close together on the same continent.

I could see different models to ours in Europe but not here.

    Cheers Pat.

Give us heated seats in the WRX!

Are Canadian models the same price as US ones (adjusted for exchange rates, of course)?

June? Okay, I think I can wait but a WRX wagon is looking mighty fine. ;-)

  • armac13armac13 Member Posts: 1,129
When I bought my 2001 Forester (June 2000), the Canadian price was considerably LESS than the US price for the same equipment level. This did not include taxes of course.

My wife and I went to a "Taste of Subaru" event last Sunday at Portland International Raceway. Besides some cool vendor showings they had an SCCA event with Subaru owners on the raceway. They were really hauling... I'd say around 100+ MPH on the straightaway. The WRX's with the big exhaust really sound cool at high speeds. I think I know the car I'm going to replace my Miata with.

    Here are some photos.

There are a couple of posts in the i-club's Northwest Forum:
    http://forums.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=266116&referrerid=767

They had Mark Lovell there, reps from SoA/FHI and the whole event was put on by SoA.
    http://forums.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=254962&referrerid=767

    I don't get it.

    -Dennis
  • lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
More grass roots stuff, indeed, SoA. I thought you all would buy Garden State Park and turn it into a test track. Now I see a Home Depot going up there.

You know my thoughts about the Cross Sports. Merits serious consideration.

Track day would be a blast - about the only thing I haven't tried with the Forester. On a good day with good tires I can keep up with most 2.5RSes, but I always have to be careful about the higher CG and tiptoe through places where my instincts want to take me faster.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I was proud that you outran some Maximas and Accord V6s, FWIW.

Cool to see grass-roots events, now how 'bout doing one on the other coast?

  • lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
Aw shuckens. Looking back at those times I see that my best was better than the worst of some RS and WRX drivers, but that was more a testimony to driving skills (or lack thereof) than the limits of the particular cars.

Ed (just trying to prove the versatility of the square Subie)

You don't have to sell me on that, it's why I bought mine.

Nov 23 should be fun. The R-compounds won't help people so much in Nov and you'll be doing your 2nd event!

    -mike
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
That's right, they get hard when it's that cold, right?

    -juice
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
The compound stiffens up when the pavement is cool (hence you see race cars swerving during caution laps to "warm the tires")

In the rain you have the same problem with R-compounds.

    -mike
  • lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
Yes, paisan, these cool wet days have brought out the best in the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. I spent a LOT of money on them, but I've never come across a tire with such good high-performance characteristics in the wet. Not too shabby in the dry either.

Ed (still trying to justify hi-po rubber on a Forester)
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
On the 23rd Hypov and I will be running my dad's Legacy L with his R-compounds (same for Nov 9 as well) I have pretty much locked up 2nd place in my class after last weekends 1st place finish. Actually Team IAC http://isuzu-suvs.com/autox did excellent last week. 3 1st place finishes and 1 2nd place and 1 3rd place in our respective classes, with everyone present taking home a trophy.

Last weekend I took a little trip to Big Bear, about two hours outside of Los Angeles. I had fun driving in the mountains (hiking was pretty nice too), and finished off a roll of film on my car.
