At least the link does. If I get a chance tonight I will add the rest of the pictures, including the rest of the diff protector installation and hood deflector. I guess this makes me a little more "human" now. :-)
Finally have some photos for the latest addition to our family. It's a 2000 Subaru GT Limited sedan with manual tranny, and it had about 8,800 miles on it when we purchased it about a month ago.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: the Legacy GT sedans and wagons are the best-looking Subarus, bar none. They could still use another 30+ hp, though ;-) .
That is one sweet looking car. I have to admit that, I too think the GT sedan and wagon are some of the best looking cars on the road -Subaru and others. I am always struck by the similarity to BMWs when looking at a side view. Very nice.
Ty: looks pretty good with that monotone red. I bet a lot of people don't even recognize what it is.
That mileage is so low, you should lie and tell people you bought it new! The first owner hasn't even broken it in completely yet. Another 7k miles or so and your engine will be operating at its peak efficiency.
This is my first Subaru, and I have high hopes for it. Everyone I talked with before purchasing it seemed to have great respect for the brand. It may be a small, quirky company, but it's developed a great reputation.
lark6 and nygreg: Totally agree. The GT sedans and wagons are beautiful cars, and very BMWesque. I drove it to California a couple of weeks ago when visiting family, and everyone had to ask what brand it was. Extra HP would be nice (Subaru, if you're listening: an H6 will help sales of your Legacy GTs), but the manual tranny and H4 are plenty for me.
Juice: If I told everyone I bought it new, then I couldn't brag that I saved $7,000 buying it used with only 8,800 miles and 18 months of use :-)
You put forth a strong argument for buying slightly used. Though you got a good deal because my Forester is 3 years old and has only depreciated about $4200.
Love that Rio Red...that was the color Susan wanted, but we couldn't find a GT auto with it last year...she ended up with a 2001 White Birch... love those GT sedans also; another 40-50 hp and it would be perfect.
However, when it comes time for summer again, I'm going to have trouble deciding which car to drive! Too little time, too many roads. I wanted a Miata since they came out, and bit the bullet a couple of years ago. Same with turbo Imprezas. I sorta wish I got the WR Blue for the WRX, that would have been a close match for the Sapphire Blue on the Miata, but that would have meant that we have THREE blue cars. That would have been just too weird. In the end, I think I'm best off with the silver on the WRX....doesn't attract the wrong type of attention!
I would have chosen a BRG Miata, so our 3 cars would've been green. Instead I found a deal on a white one. That was before I found out the color is notorious for peeling!
I can imagine your quandry-- the 10AE is widely reported to be the best Miata to date, but the WRX stuffs it handily in a straight line. Decisions, decisions.
I only have 3 pic additions of yesterdays snow run. It was a fun day. Ended up in Leavenworth, a little Bavarian theme town for some yagersnitzel. The Dunlop Wintersports worked great. I need to wash the car now. It's a pig.
The only thing I could be guilty of in Leavenworth, WA is over-eating all the good German food. Drinking could be tempting too. We all had a good, relaxing time. There were 6 cars so not too big of a group. The only problem was getting stuck behind the returning skiers on the road which was mostly a two-lane affair full a large SUVs. I was not a happy camper.
Here is a pthoto of the plastic that I covered the carpets with, for which I have become famous or infamous depending on how you look at it. Cheers Pat.
I'm impressed. I wish I had the skill and energy of you, hombre. In your presence, I feel worthless and weak. I do wish you were a bit closer so I could have come over and watch you install. I remember you describing the process.
I have to admit that I had never seen a Titanium GT except in your photos until today at lunch, when I passed a Titanium GT sedan. (The GT wagon I test drove in fall '99 was Timberline Green, and I was going to buy either it or one in black.) What a pretty color, reminds me of the "Polar Silver" on my '86 Jetta. Very good at hiding dirt and scratches. Better looking than the gold on the Foresters.
Are those heated seat buttons with a cloth interior?? I've never seen that before. Forgive me if I'm wrong but I think in the US they only offer heated seats with leather on Outbacks/Legacy. Anyone know if thats correct?
Also, do the heated seats with cloth make a big difference?
Jon: you can get heated cloth seats in the Forester S - I have them. I'm pretty sure you can get them in leather in the Forester S Premium as well. Very nice in cold weather or when your back is stiff from weekend chores. Legacy GTs in the US are not available with heated seats except IIRC for the GT Limited sedan, which has leather. That's one option our neighbors to the north have that we don't as yet.
I've been slacking off, mostly because of the cold. I need to do the felt lining, then the tweeters (still gotta buy them).
Heated seats come with the Forester S and S Premium (with or without leather), the Outback with the AWP option (cloth), all high-end Outbacks with leather, and the GT limited sedan (leather). So there are lots of ways to get it.
That is one sharp looking interior. Is that color combo even available in the US? I haven't seen it before. Reminds me of the black/tan interior I had on a few Hondas, which always looked nice.
Could you comment on the stereo? Is it aftermarket, or is it a Canook version of a Subaru radio?
That plastic is a great idea. You could expand on this idea and turn it into a product -- clear liners that people put in their cars to protect the carpet in the winter. You could probably just cover the footwells and still offer good protection, though the full coverage of your plastic sheet is awesome.
My Bean came with the Subaru rubber mats in addition to the carpeted ones. I put the rubber ones in during our last snowstorm and like them. However, they are about 1-2" less in size than the carpeted mats all the way around, which means more of the car's carpet is exposed. I wonder why they did that.
I think they are still custom fit, just shrunken! If you lay the rubber mats on top of the carpeted ones, the shapes are the same, just smaller. Wierd. Like the scaled the mats by 85% . . . .
The smaller size pretty much outweighs the benefit of the rubber mats if you ask me. Sure, the mats themselves are better for wet weather, but they protect the carpet less!

Pretty nice choice of cars I must say (and I'm modest too!). Hope I can keep my hi-tech job to afford paying for all these toys!

I too found this odd until I saw it for myself. Only had heard of them in leather equipped vehicles.

I'd just get aftermarket ones and trim them to fit.
