Thanks for the heads up on the DOC Fee and the other reputable dealerships in Ohio. I'll be sure and look further 'south' the next time. Toledo got the draw because my mother lives there, I know the turf, had a 'free airline ticket', and I have done business with Toyota and Honda dealerships in that neck of the woods in the past.
But I'm still recovering from the 4 hour delay in ATL Airport, the lack of sleep, the loss of a weekend, and the drive back to ATL. Was it worth $1000 to $1500 to do this? In my case, yes. I'll do a better job 'searching' next time, and be more comfortable with the process, and hopefully won't have to travel very far.
Thanks to all for all the info provided within these forums. It's been a big help.
I would like to share my purchase of 2006 Odyssey EX-L at Burien, WA.
Purchase Price = $29,458 (including door-edge guards, mudguards, wheel locks) + TAX Ext Warranty = $1230 (8yrs/100,000) I did the trade-in and got very good price for that too.
Overall I am very happy to get this price as all surrounding dealers are really expensive. I would highly recommend this dealer if someone is looking for any deals.
My wife drives a Pilot and I have an Odyssey. Our kids are 20 and 16 so we don't often need go anywhere together. The Odyssey has far more flexibility (can haul most anything) and gets better mileage than the Pilot, especially on the road. The Odyssey rides better due (mostly, I suppose) to its longer wheelbase and is easier to enter/exit. The Pilot has the obvious advantage of AWD.
Either is a good choice depending on what is most important to you. If you've never had a vehicle that offers a higher seating position, you'll be quickly hooked.
My Mother, 66, recently purchased a Mini-van. She loves the ease of entry and exit, and the fact she can take all her friends shopping!! Just a thought.
Followed advice on this board and just sent out 20 solicitations for 06 Odd EX-L with towing packages. Got 10 back so far and based upon travel distance this seems like the best deal:
(includes $489 appearance pkg--pin stripes, mud guards, pait/fabric/lthr protect, $399 pre-del service charge, and a couple of other very small charges)
6% sales tax in FL plus county tax of 1.5% on first $5,000 = $31,180 + title
Requested ocean mist metallic and looks like they have 1 in stock.
Question: Is this a good deal? Should I wait until last week of yr for better pricing? Thanks in advance. :shades:
Thanks for the great info. I have contacted dealers in several states based on the recommendations here and made contact with Faulkner Honda in Harrisburg, PA. I just received a phone call offering me the 2006 Odyssey, Touring with R&N for $35,500 + $45 for a transit tag and will contact me tomorrow about what they would charge me to deliver it to SC (about 11 hours away). Very straight forward, no nonsense.....a very pleasant experience thus far. I'll post when I seal the deal (I say when because I'm pretty sure these folks will get my business!
I know time is valuable but have you considered flying to PA and driving back? Atlanta to Pitt/Philly starts at $120 through AirTran 7 day adv). Out ATL area dealer picked me up at the airport when I flew from FL for $50 and had the vehicle ready. Just a thought as the savings you got in PA could be more than negated by delivery fees, let us know.
Funny that you should mention that as I had already checked into Air Tran (from Savannah, GA). Just got off the phone and Faulkner will deliver to my door for an additional $150. Well worth it for my time, airfare, gas, etc. Thanks for the info though.
Just thought I'd let the world know about a good price I found in the SF Bay Area (after emailing ~20 dealers -- thanks for the great advice!).
Dublin Honda (Internet/Fleet department) quoted an EX-L in our color (silver) at $28,100 +tax and license. This was about $500 below the next lowest price. I was skeptical (too good to be true?), but confirmed the vehicle was on the lot, drove across the bay last night, and came home with a new Odyssey. The only extra fee was the $45 docs charge.
Vehicle had 9 miles on the odo when we took it out for the testdrive; we doubled that before signing the contract. Vehicle was in dealer inventory since Oct 25th. Carefully looking over the vehicle, the front trim on the driver-side roof rail was missing -- looks like the factory forgot to install the retaining spring. Dealer quickly replaced the spring and the trim from another Odyssey on the lot, and we were set.
Final out-the-door price, WITH tax, registration, and all, was $30,717.
I was at Autoway Honda in Clearwater,FL on Wednesday trying to get the 2006 Odyseey EX-L and was with the Finance Manager when the deal fell through. I had a good Net Cap Cost of 28858 and a good price for my trade. Then when my wife and I were scrutinizing the numbers on the lease statement, he told me that the Honda Odyssey Money Factor was ".00342" and was non-negotiable (this after being at the dealer for 3 1/2 hrs haggling and waiting). I didn't think this was right since the Money Factor (I thought) seemed to be similar to an interest rate and APR's are affected by one's credit history. I have excellent credit and told him that other places I read said that the Money Factors are decided on one's credit. He again told me "NO, THIS IS THE HONDA ODYSSEY'S MONEY FACTOR. This is what the Sales Manager told me." I was surprised by that statement since he is supposed to be the Finance Manager and shouldn't have to consult with other people (He had to check with the sales manager three other times on fees that we questioned on the lease statement). With $2000 down and after all fees and taxes added, the payment was going to be $443.50 / month for 36 months. I ended up walking away from the deal. Well, enough rambling. Who is right on this matter? What should the Money Factor be and did I give up a good thing?
What was the bottom line price at Miller Honda-your e-mail address was unavailable so I hope you are OK posting the info as I am looking to buy this weekend. Thanks-looking for an EX-L w Nav and DVD
Sorry, I can't help with the money factor (except to say that everything in a car deal is negotiable) but those numbers seem quite high to me (and compared with recent advertised leases here in Ohio). Add it up, you'd by paying in excess of $15,000 to use the vehicle for just 3 years.
I've found that the amount of time in putting together a deal seems to be reversely proportionate to how good it is.
It appears that Florida prices are getting somewhat softer. The $489 package adds nothing of value except mud guards. The $399 fee adds nothing except profit to the dealer's pocket. Subtract those two and you'd be at an Ohio price.
Waiting certainly shouldn't cost you any more (unless interest rates rise). You might want to shop in the days immediately before Christmas when traffic at some stores is slow.
I purchased it at Hall Honda Virginia Beach Va last weekend for $33,505+1800 svc contract. There was no pressure buy, so we took our time going through their selection, and making our choice (Desert Rock Metallic). Since we make several trips during during the year holidays, spring break, and summer vacation the NAV will be handy to us. Also, the rearview camera can be helpful getting out of a parking lot. The RES will keep the kids from asking are we there yet? All the features will come in handy.
I just purchased the 2006 EX-L (with 12 miles) for $27,949 plus TTL in the Chicago area ($309) below invoice. Needless to say it was a heated exchange with the dealer, and I can't say I would recommed them, but I'm happy with the deal. I didn't get the door-edge guards, etc., or the extended warranty. If anyone wants the name of the dealership, I will post it.
I just got a quote from the Dallas Texas area for a 2006 EX for $500 under the invoice of $26,102 making it $25,602. This seemed like a good deal to me, then, the salesman told me the accessories would add about another $700. Accessories include Honda splashguard, wheel locks, cargo tray, pinted stripes, color key molding, and paint and fabirc protection. The total with these would be about $26,300. Do these accessories cost this or are they worth this, or is this just another profit center for the dealer? Thanks
Thanks for the link to www.handaaccessories.com. That give me alot of the info I wanted. Is the price I was qouted of $25,602 a good price for a base EX with those few accessories?
Well, based on your previous post, if you're asking whether buying at invoice with some accessories included is a good price, I'd say go for it and take solace (if any is needed) with the tremendous value the vehicle offers at that number.
I am new to the forums and not exactly sure how much info they want you to give out. The dealer is Rusty Wallis in east Dallas. If you want the name of my salesman, who has been very nice and professional, email off list. Good luck!
Hi. I am soliciting some feedback about 8 passenger minivans. Right now I am looking at the Odyssey and Sienna. The option I am looking for is an All Wheel Drive 8 passenger minivan which I can't seem to find (Sienna has an AWD but it only comes in 7 passenger version). Anyone has any ideas or suggestions please be kind and share? Thanks. :confuse:
Can you address the issue of leg room/shoulder room, and basic comfort : Odyssey vs. Pilot. I recently had major knee surgery and have been unable to make it to the dealer but I'mm looking to buy end December or January. I found this post to be helpful as are others you've wriiten. Thanks in advance.
Just purchased an EX-L w/ DVD at Bankston Honda in Lewisville for $700 over invoice. Dealer ads included mudguards, pin striping, tint, wheel locks, and cargo mat.
Could have gotten it for a little lower but dealer gave me $1200 over KBB for my trade. Overall great deal and very pleased with the process.
Contacted the dealership through their internet department and got a quote for invoice for the van (before dealer ads) without any haggling.
There's simply no comparison between the two - the Odyssey beats the Pilot hands down in this category (and my wife, who drives the Pilot, agrees).
Getting in and out is far easier in the Odyssey. I'm 6-4 and the Odyssey feels (and is) more spacious in all directions. Plus the Odyssey's driver's seat is more comfortable and offers better lumbar support.
The one drawback is that there is a protrusion in the ceiling (on both sides) of the van due to the sliding door track. For certain folks, this may cause a problem (in grazing or bumping one's head) when the seat is pretty far rearward.
Some find the (non-telescoping) steering wheel in the Odyssey too far away. It seemed that way to me, too, at first. Now those in other vehicles (including the Pilot) seem too close.
All that said, comfort is such an individual thing that I would encourage you to spend a significant amount of time with both to see which works best.
i am relatively new the the forums too, but i just did exactly what these posts recommend, email all the honda dealers in your area with your price, I did. 06 ex for 25,600, plus tax title in the cincy ohio area, another dealer in columbus matched that so did one in chilicothe, ohio, for an ex-l i was quoted 28200! heres some zip codes 43201 45249. I will be picking up the ex fri or sat. good price?
You may include the dealership name, city and state in your post. Please do not post names of salespeople, telephone numbers, email addresses, or other contact information.
I would negotiate the $489 and the $399 charges as they are pure profit for the dealer. My '06 Odyssey came with pin stripes too and I told them that I would pay them what they were asking to take them off (I hate pin stripes). Of course they did not charge me for them. If you are ready to buy, they will not let $500 or so get in the way. Those charges for exterior/interior protection are garbage, don't pay for it! They are probably overcharging for the splash guards too, they are easy to install and cheaper online. Tell them to take them off or give you the online price, I did that too. You can do this with almost any accessory they try to add on to the price. Good luck.
the dealers in cincy, oh are www.hondaeastcincy.com, superior honda and buckeye honda in the columbus area. I was looking at the chrysler t&c touring, one of the big problems for me with this car is the third row only has one child seat anchor, I asked the 'internet' sales person at the chrysler dealer, if the third row was intended for two car seats or not, the 'sales person' said 'uh, i guess not'. Which pretty much describes my opinion of chrysler's sales staff. Moving on, virtually all the local dealers in Cincy and Columbus area are 'hungry' for a deal, if you are serious about an odyssey, email them all you fair price, they will respond! I had several dealers say 'the invoice is 25552 PLUS the 601 dest. charge' and 'we cannot go below the 266101 figure, dont believe that, they get 3% of invoice the destination charge is more $$ for the fat cats. Another HONDA dealer, Century Honda, would not even show me how the features of the car worked after I explained to them they are welcome to make me an offer below 25600 or match it and toss in the all season floor mats, the salesman promptly headed for his 'semi private' booth and 'pretended to be 'busy'. Again I would try honda east in cincinnati, buckeye honda in columbus or superior honda in cincinnati the internet sales staff will meet or exceed your expectations.
Just closed deal last night on '06 Ody EX-Cloth, Midnight Blue, at Herb Chambers Honda in Burlington, MA. Had a pleasant experience with their Internet Sales Department. Paid $25,500 before taxes, title, etc. This forum has been a lot of help over the past few months during my research period. We pick up the new van tonight and say goodbye to our '01 Ody EX.
Just bought a 2006 Odyssey EX-L (slate green metallic with olive leather) with DVD and navigation for $31,275 at Gunn Honda in San Antonio (which was the offered price - no negotiating). They had just pulled it off the delivery truck, still had all the plastic on it and only 4 miles of driving. I think that is about $300 below invoice (when delivery charges are included). I think I got sort of lucky and contacted them at the right time (they are trying to sell a very large volume of cars this month). I was very surprised (pleasantly) at the deal they offered me. I had expected to pay at least $1,500 - $2,000 more than this based on a bit of internet research.
I am looking for Odyssey with Cloth interior in bay area. Can somebody who is also looking for or recently purchased a vehicle provide me with approx price. I got a quote from a fremont dealer for $26,500.00(including destination charges)+ tax and title.
Commonwealth gave me a great quote last week (below invoice) on an Odyssey. Watch out, though, if you're trading something in. They'll make up for that discount with a very low trade offer. I found the same price and better trade value elsewhere.
I am somewhat new to the eastern nc area. Can anyone tell me a dealership that is worth stopping at. I don't mind driving a little. I am looking for an EXL-RES. My wife loves this van and I hate dealership Also can someone tell me what I should expect to pay?
We bought EX-L with RES & NAV and (All weather mats) for $30,900 (including registration,TTL). My wife and I liked slate green metallic with olive leather interiors. Dealer is Peters Honda, Nashua,NH. Pretty much all dealers in northern MA and (Commonwealth, Herb Chambers, Atamian) were around that price range. I just choose Peters as it is just miles from my house.
Sent out about 20+ emails last night for an 06 EXL with Nav and DVD in the S.F Bay area. So far the worst is 2900+ above invoice ($34766) and the best is about $1200 above invoice ($32973, invoice is $31773). Only 4 dealers responded so hopefully will get better. Anyone has good experience in the Bay area and can share the dealer's name (just want to make sure that it is in my list)?
First timer. I'm looking for a good price / no BS dealer near Seattle. Got offered $30,265 for the EX-L by Lynnwood Honda and about $3k more for Nav/DVD. This seems high, after reading other posts. Any ideas?
This board was great to let me know what Odysseys were selling for so I'm returning the favor.
Yesterday (12-17-05) I bought a 2006 Odyssey EX-L, with 3.8 miles, slate green metalic with grey interior and Honda Wheel Locks for $27,800 plus tax, title, and license (total out the door was $29,452 - includes Maryland 5% sale tax, plus $262.00 for MD title and registration which I think is about 70$ more than I could do it for by going to the DMV, but I'm not 100% sure on the exact fees although I know MD did recently raise its registration fee).
Criswell Honda, Germantown, MD 20874. No problems with the expierience, salesguy and finance guy are good guys. (email if you need names)
Total deal took just over an hour and a half and this included my 15-20 min 'check out the car' plus, a 10 mile test drive, and the dealer 'clean up'.
I paid cash (actually nothing yet, have to send the check tomorrow)
Since I can not give out the salesman's name ((email if you need names)) or just ask the operator for the salesman that bought her lunch last. (This is how I would pick salesman when cold calling dealers looking for this deal.) 4 other dealers all would get to $28,300 (invoice is $28,258) but no lower, I just kept calling, first asking if they have the vehicle I want (giving them 2 color choices), then if so, tell them at $27,800 I'll buy. Criswell took the offer. It had been a very slow Saturday for them.
