hypothetically, if you paid about $2,400 in ttl,you would have the lowest purchase price that I have seen on this board for an Odyssey EX-L with NAV and RES. So, your prompt and welcomed reply is still a bit vague. If possible, please answer with the type of detail by parnine in 11426.

Bobby Rahal Honda, Mechanicsburg PA gave me a good price on an EX-L. $31,345 - $2,515 discount = $28,830. They also were very aggressive on my trade, I figure a safe $1,000 over Edmund's trade-in value. so...I'm telling myself I bought it for around $28,000. Really folks, how do you really know you got a good deal? I think I did pretty well. This is a great time to be buying if you can find the time. This is an excellent dealer, plus I've purchased 3 Hondas from them over the past 16 years, plus I have most service handled at the dealer. I could have done a little better selling my car myself, but it just was not worth the hassle.

Could anyone tell their purchase price of Odyssey EXL DVD + Navigation price in CT. I am looking to buy one in a day or two.
  • cmr6898cmr6898 Member Posts: 2
I guess this price is exclusive of sales tax, etc. Could you please confirm?

    Thanks, cmr6898

    I paid, 30,707 + 193 (TTL&Reg)+ ($0 tax, resident of NH).
    Hopefully this explains.

Honestly, I don't have the exact breakdown in front of me right now, but we paid 25,500 for an EX-cloth, plus MA sales, taxe, title, etc. We bought it at Herb Chambers in Burlington, MA.
  • eln001eln001 Member Posts: 32
Thanks. Your price of 30,707 is the lowest price that I can remember seeing in this forum for a 2006 Odyssey EX-L with NAV and RES. Congratulations.

OK, for those of you who want to cut to the chase and are only interested in the price. We just bought an EX-L with Nav and DVD for 32K before TTL. We "had to get" $200 worth of add ons(Wheel locks, cargo mat,mud flaps, so the actual price was 32.2K.
Now for the experience. We test drove the car in Santa Monica at Santa Monica Honda so after we got all of our low, low internet quotes(thanks for all the help, guys) we went in there to give them a shot at our business. There was no way they could match the deal and they sent "manager" after "manager" into the small room we were placed in to try to convince us to pay more and to tell us that the internet price was a scam. They finally relented and focused in on trying to sell us there demo model with 5K miles for the internet price. We walked. We then went to Miller Honda in Culver City where we were assured via e-mail that our car was in stock and the internet price would be honored. Our internet salesperson told us the car had been sold the day before but that we could lea deposit and he'd have the car there the next day. We went back the next day only to find out that Miller had no EX-L's w/Nav and DVD to trade for our car with another dealer but that, if the other dealer didn't sell the car that night, they'd put it "on hold" for us and we could have it the following weekend when Miller had a car to trade with. We were also told that, for our trouble, they'd knock $300 off the price. I called the dealer with the car and found out, much to my joy, that it had not been sold the night before. When Miller called us later in the day, our salesperson told us that that it had been sold. I asked him to call again because they had told me it hadn't been sold. I ended up having to call Miller back to find our salesperson but not until after having confirmed with the dealer up north(again) that the car was,in fact, still there. Our salesperson insisted that he was told it was sold the night before. I prompted him to call again at which time he acknowledged that the car was there but that he couldn't get it and to try to cut a deal directly with the other dealer. I tried to do this but they wanted $700 more so I went through my internet quotes. Drove To Long Beach Honda where they were more than happy to have my business. Closed the deal in less than an hour and we are the owners of a new minivan. Hope this helps future L.A. area buyers.

So we ended up buying our EX-L with Nav/DVD at Lynnwood for $33,500 (including mudguards, door-edge guards, and wheellocks) plus $1000 for 100,000 mile extended warranty. It ended up being a pretty enjoyable experience, even if we could have gotten a somewhat better price elsewhere.

The big problem we found is that most dealers either didn't have any in stock or just had one or two. I felt as if this decreased our leverage. Plus I didn't really want to spend a ton more time going from dealer to dealer.

Very happy with our product at least :D

Really folks, how do you really know you got a good deal?

There's only one way - sell your vehicle yourself, that way the dealer can't "bury" the "deal" in the transaction.
  • cpsdarrencpsdarren Member Posts: 265
Exactly. If you are trying to help other buyers rather than just posting for bragging rights, please include more than just the vehicle price. Potential buyers need to know other necessary details like out-the-door price, all fees and charges over vehicle price/freight, whether you financed at the dealer, whether you traded in a vehicle and any accessories or add-ons (like extended warranties or protection packages) you purchased. Without that, they don't have as much leverage with your salesperson or anyone else's.

I am new on the forum. I am in the process of buying EX-L w/o dvd or nav. I have one offer of ~$30,500 out the door from clearwater,Fl. dealership. Just want to know if this is a good deal.thanks
  • momtotntmomtotnt Member Posts: 4
OTD is different everywhere. What is your actual sales price? Then add tax, title, etc...
  • atmcashmoneyatmcashmoney Member Posts: 3
Great info, I'm also in the Bay Area, looking for an EX-L. One question for the forum- Who has ever had a tire stolen from their minivan?

Really, has anyone who doesn't have wheel locks had a tire stolen? It would be interesting to hear from the other people who have not had a tire stolen. I feel like that option is maybe good for the street racers who spend $1,000 per rim, but for a minivan?

    Thanks.

We are looking for odyssey with with dvd/navi. We went to a dealership who has an internet sale promo - $32174... but they do not have it in stock.... asked for exl with dvd and gave us $200 above invoice price.... I would like to know if this is a good price or do we have to shop around to ask for lower price.
  • mickey123mickey123 Member Posts: 11
Do you think it is worth spending $1000 on a Honda Care warranty for
EX-L with RES and NAV. Any warranty clauses I need to worry about ??

    Thanks
  • mickey123mickey123 Member Posts: 11
Sorry, I forgot to mention the plan.
    $1000 warranty for 8yr/120K miles EX-L DVD/RES/NAV.

    mickey123:

I just bought the 8yr/120K miles/$0 deductible for $1249 for a 2005 EX-L with DVD and NAV. So, if you get it for $1000 and it is a Hondacare that is a great price and I think below dealer invoice.

Whether it is worth it, that depends on the person. For me, it is the peace of mind. There is a lot of mechanical parts, and also a lot of electronics that can break, and I plan to keep this van for 8 to 10 years (I hope). If there is a real problem, I like the idea of dropping the car off at the dealer and saying "fix it". :-) With Hondacare you get things that are included in a AAA membership, and also a rental on a covered repair.

I setup and maintain servers and supercomputer class machines that have much less moving parts and some cost over million dollars each and they break too. So, $1249 is cheap insurance.

    Regards,

    Emil

I live in the Tampa Bay area and just leased an
    Odyssey EX-L.
I put $0 down , 36 months, 16,000 miles per year. The payment including tax and everything is $445 per month.

I got their top tier lease price because my beacon score was very high.

It came with a few extras including a molded/shaped liner made of some sort of rubber for the very back area behind the back seat. Also has burlwood kit on the dash and doors that supposedly costs $499. It actually looks pretty nice.

I thought that price was a pretty good deal.

Best of all, they took my wife out of her Nissan Altima lease and saved us big time . She had 3 months left on the lease (approx. $1000). She would have been over on mileage by approx. 8000 miles .20 cents per mile (approx. $1600) and the damage/wear and tear to her car (approx. $1500- $2000).

I am basing the wear and tear from experience with our first Altima lease back . The first time we turned in her first Nissan Altima on lease, they sent us a bill for over $1900. Nissans leases are the worst, they allow no allowance for normal wear and tear and they charge for every little flaw to the car.

Anyway, I wanted to share that experience because I thought others should know about it so perhaps they can benefit from this info.

Also, the dealership was not bad at all to deal with. I thought it was going to be like a root canal but it was not.

After two weeks of looking for a minivan (sienna and odyssey. We finally decided to go for odyssey. I called Honda dealers here in Houston for their best price. One offered $31175 +TTL. I do not know if we got the best price but it was the lowest price of them all. We hope we did good. I need to know if anybody knows re: extended warranty and how much does it cost. thanks.
  • jstephens1jstephens1 Member Posts: 38
Kindly let us know the name of the dealership which IS allowed on this site. Thanks
  • elmaralelmaral Member Posts: 8
We got the car at David McDavid in Houston.... They do not have it in their lot so they have to get a car from another dealership. We hope we got a good deal on this car. We also got the 8 year 120,000 mi warranty with 0 deductible for $1500. They quoted us for $2300 at first for 7/100k. I am glad that I was able to browse around a little bit to know a little bit of information re: ext warranty. It is higher than the rest of what I have seen and read but that is ok.
  • topgun7topgun7 Member Posts: 412
Elmaral, this look like a very good price.. I am still doing the car hunting thing in the S.F bay area. So far my best quote for the EXL with Nav/Res is 32673 (about 900 above invoice). We will probably work on it all the way to YE to see if we can get better deal. Your 31xxx look very good. To be fair though, all price are local. I leased an 04 Accord EX V6 coupe in ca for my kids back in 03 for 1000 below invoice and one month later, I bought myself an 04 Accord EX V6 sedan in AZ for invoice. So obviously AZ car market is not as competitive as Ca. You get a good price when it is the best around the area that you are willing to work on. Too bad your dealer don't have the model in stock, otherwise, I would be interested in flying in and pick one up..
  • jstephens1jstephens1 Member Posts: 38
Did you purchase your extended warranty through Bernardi or direct from the dealership you purchased?
  • karhillkarhill Member Posts: 2
Good thing you purchased the Odyssey from McDavid rather than the other local Honda dealer. I had a great deal worked out with Clear Lake Honda for an out the door price of $30,890 including a trade-in of $13,500 with a pay-off of $12,888. At least I believed I did! I conducted most of the negotiations over the internet. I suspected something was amiss when the dealer consistently refused to discuss financing, even after I told them the interest rate I was interested in based on rates quoted to me from several internet sites, these ranged from 5.99 for a 60 month loan to 8 percent for an 84 month loan. Even though the negotiation was conducted over the internet, I still spent several hours on Christmas Eve working on the details at the dealership. My suspicions were well founded, the finance guy wouldn't budge off a rate of over 10 percent. I couldn't leave Clear Lake Honda quickly enough. It really is annoying when dealers are not up front. I guess Clear Lake Honda figured I might bite on the 10 percent rate since I spent so much time working on the deal. Not my most memorable Christmas Eve. I will try McDavid next week or perhaps Gillman Honda who quoted me a price of $29,610 plus TTL.

After the helpful info here I have purchased a 2006 Odyssey, Touring with NAV and RES for $35,745. This included a $45 transit tag (crossed state lines) and
$200 to have the car delivered to my door about 675 miles from the dealership. Tax is additional but in SC is a flat $300 (then we get to pay property taxes every year on cars). I got wheel locks, heavy duty mats (up north you deal with snow, down here we deal with sand!), and a cargo tray for the rear compartment as part of the deal. The dealership is Faulkner Honda in Harrisburg, PA. Now I'm shopping for the best price on an extended warranty (120K, 0 deductible, 8 year). The price I got this vehicle for is several THOUSAND less than any area dealer would quote me. I LOVE the NAV system, the kids love the RES and I am a happy owner. Actually, this is my second Odyssey, I owned one the first year it came out. The 2006 is an incredible car and one that I hope will serve me well for many years. :)
  • elmaralelmaral Member Posts: 8
I purchased it throught the dealership. First they quoted me for $2300 for 7/100k/0 deductible, but when I mentioned that I have found a better deal from the internet (Hondacare) they gave it to me for $1505 for 8/120k/0 deductible. thanks to the forum I was able to browse around re: ext. warranty or else we would have paid $2300.
  • elmaralelmaral Member Posts: 8
What I did for legwork, I went to the internet and looked at all the dealearship here in houston. I spent half a day to call and talk to the salesmen and asked for their best price and if they have the car that I want. With David McDavid, they told me that they do have the car so we went there but unfortunately, they do not have it. So,they have to get another car from another dealership - which has tinted windows and pin stripe(which i did not mind at all) .... because they want my business, they are willing to look for the car and get it for me.

    Mickey123: (Re: Post # 11444)

Can you tell us which dealership offered you the $1000 8yr/120K warranty? I assume that this is a genuine Honda Care $0 deductible warranty, if so, this is a very good price. I am in the market for such a warranty and if you could share where you got it, it would be great help. Thanks.
    :surprise:

Sorry, but information about specific salespeople is the ONE thing you can't request in these Forums. The red lettering above the "post a message" box indicates that we welcome you to share dealership name, city and state. Posts requesting salespeople's names have been removed. Thanks!

I am surprised no one has mentioned special Honda financing going on until 12/31; 2.9/3 year, 3.9/4 years, 4.9/5 years. Good Luck.

Started shopping for 2006 Odyssey EX-L that I plan to buy before the end of the year. I made few phone calls and found a couple of major dealerships in the area that offered me $500 under invoice. Is it what everybody else are getting here? Should I keep looking for better deal or bite what I was offered? I'm in Ohio.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Shop the whole state, competition is fierce in Ohio. Hard to know whether you can do better unless you push and/or play stores off against each other.

I have seen a couple of recent reports from other states of prices $1000 plus below invoice.

Hi, I've got a quote from a dealer here in Orlando, FL for the 2006 Ody EX-L w/DVD for $31,190 (tax, tag registration included). Is this a good price during this time of the year or do I need to do more comparison shopping before the year end..that is another 4 days..?? :)

Can someone please help with the best Out the Door price (including tax, doc & destination) for Honda Odyssey 2006 EX-L with DVD Entertainment in Phoenix, AZ area.

I spoke with couple of dealership and everyone is quoting 1-2% over invoice
  • gong123gong123 Member Posts: 2
I just bought a 2006 EX-L without the dvd for 30,150 OTD price
and they have the dvd package listed as roughly around $1500 so that would make it $31,650. so yes I would say it's a good deal. But due to year end and them trying to make there number, you can alway squeez them for a few more bucs.

I'm looking to buy a new Honda Odyssey EX-L before 1-1. So far-dealers are offering $1500 above the invoice of $31,673. Seems high to me. Anyone else getting better deals ? I'm in baltimore.
  • ausmanausman Member Posts: 6
$500 - $1000 under invoice wow, any dealerships you can mention?
  • jstephens1jstephens1 Member Posts: 38
I'm in the Phoenix area shopping for 2006 Odyssey EX-L w Nav/DVD. I would suggest you shop around because I'm finding a $1200 swing on the internet quotes. Don't jump right in and perhaps they'll call you in a week or so.
I believe they can sell this for 3-500 under invoice and still make money. It depends on their end of the month/year quotas and company incentives.
  • topgun7topgun7 Member Posts: 412
I am shopping for EX-L with Nav also in the Bay area. I think it highly depend on the model you like. Seem like the model in short supply now is the ex-l with Nav and Touring in the bay area. One dealer actually give me a quote but with no EXL with Nav in stock. It really boil down to supply and demand for a particular model in your area...Some area people can get it under invoice (I envy you) and other would have to pay higher than invoice. Right now my best quote is 32677 for EXL with Nav (about 900 above invoice).
  • iuguestiuguest Member Posts: 1
We just purchased a 2006 EX-L from Livermore Honda for $28,000 including destination. Livermore Honda matched DUblin Honda's quote for $28,100. Then my husband asked if they would beat the quote by $100. The Livermore Internet manager did a great job and it was very hassle free purchase.
  • jstephens1jstephens1 Member Posts: 38
Best quote in Phoenix Nav/DVD is 31,473.00 thus far. Highest quote comes in 32,773.
Supply/demand is a big factor, I agree as is month/year end sales pressure. Best Wishes
  • ausmanausman Member Posts: 6
Hardin honda in Orange county would basically do invoice on any models across the board. But they wouldnt do below invoice. Not sure where people are claiming $1k under invoice, thats hard to believe.
  • elmaralelmaral Member Posts: 8
Here in TX, they quoted me for the invoice price.... I do not know how much is the TTL in FL. I calculated the invoice price + TTL - it sums up to 32000(est).
  • vaanvaan Member Posts: 5
Thanks jstephens1, you are correct there is swing of atleast $1k in the quotes. They are having their own website/information for determining the invoice price. I too will shop around, in the meantime if you find a very good deal can you please post your information.
  • steveayzsteveayz Member Posts: 28
I noticed that some people add "RES" to the Odyssey models. What does it stand for? I didn't find any information on Honda site for that. Does Odyssey EX-L comes as RES and non RES?
  • elmaralelmaral Member Posts: 8
RES - read entertainment system. It is an option for exl.
  • elmaralelmaral Member Posts: 8
oops, made a mistake there... sorry
RES - rear entertainment system not read. sorry
  • atmcashmoneyatmcashmoney Member Posts: 3
    Hi iuguest.

Great price! If you feel inclined, can you please email me a copy of your quote? The teaming up thing isn't allowed.

Livermore isn't too far away, but most of the internet dealers I talked to said they'd match a printed quote.

    Thanks.
  • vaanvaan Member Posts: 5
Thanks jstephens1, is this OTD price or do we need to add TTL on this price.
    Thanks for the info.
