I agree. We got our 2009 Odyssey EX-L in late May for $29,812 OTD in Pittsburgh. That included the 2500 incentive though. We got the color we wanted too (Silver Pearl). Around the 33,000 mark was the MSRP for the 2009 EX-L models. I would just go with the 2010 even though it's a lot more. Or hassle them a little more for 27-28,000 OTD for the 09.
Not necessarily. I'm not sure if you knew about this but in April of 2009, Honda offered a 3500 incentive. In May and June, they offered a $2500 incentive when we got ours. That's why you should keep your eyes open. It's possible that they could give you a better deal, but it's not likely. I think now would be pretty good and since most of the lots are only 2010s, if you could find a 2009 which is very hard to do, then you can hassle the, down!
From reading these forums, I get that there's no real difference between the 2009 vs 2010. I think there are more incentives for the 2009 meaning that you should be able to pick it up for less. I just bought a 2010 EX-L in New Jersey for about the same :
30,855 base + dest 249 Doc charges 2,738 tax (8.875% NYC taxes) 164 tags and reg 53 Out of State MV Fee ====== 34,059 Total OTD
The main difference is my higher taxes and higher fees. I didn't really fight over the fees because I did this as a Clunker deal and since I was getting 3,500 for a car that was only worth a couple of hundred at the most, I just wanted to get the deal done. The only other thing I want to add was that I had gotten a blank check from CapitalOne for 4.25% for 5 years but at the dealership they offered financing thru America Honda at 3.99% for 5 years. Good luck with the van -you'll love the space that it gives you - especially with the kids.
Thanks, I did not know about all the past incentives but I wasn't ready to buy then. I now have a quote of $28.5K on a 2009 EX-L. With destination and fees the OTD is $32.6K. Seems good and I know the 2009s will all be gone soon. Solid deal and pull the trigger or wait until the end of December when showrooms are empty and hope for better on a 2010 Odyssey EX-L which I believe is only $250 more MSRP? No 2010 Odyssey rebates now but maybe by then since I'd need to at least make up the $1,500 difference ($250 MSRP + current $1,250 incentive).
I am interested in feedback on a quote for a 2009 EX-L with RES. There are not many left in the local inventory. 2009 is approximately $1,500 cheaper than 2010 per quotes I've received. Also, I can get 2.9% for 60 months on 2009 versus 5-6% on 2010 models. The best quote I got on the 2009 EX-L with RES is $31,400 (includes destination) + tax, title, license and doc fee. Any feedback is appreciated.
I am trying to buy the 2010 EXL RES and NAV in NC and the best price I am getting is $500 below invoice + tax and title. Is this a good price and can I do better?
We went to a dealership tonight and test drove an 09 ex-l and within 10 minutes the sales guy came down to 29500, from MSRP 33825.
We pushed him for 28500, and they said there was no way and basically pushed us away. I expected a little more negotiation than that, any thoughts on those prices?
Seems like a fair price to me. Is that about 1,200 below invoice? If it makes no difference about the model year and you like the color, etc. then go for it.
Ended up purchasing the 2010 EX-L in black. The dealer was able to beat our Capital One blank check and we got 5.19% financing for 6 years. Prices were as follows:
$31,288 - base + dest fee $95 - service fee $1726 tax $168 - tags/title ============ $33,277 - Total OTD
I am in the market for the Honda Odeyseey Touring 2010, but the dealer close to my town has one 2009. Here is the price he quote me, please give me some advice about the quote and some tips to negotiate. I live in southern Arizona
I did the internet inventory search, I can't find any 2010 touring model for both CA and AZ. However, thanks for inf, your friend quote is better than my for 2009. I guess, I have a lot of room for negotiation.
Looking for a new Odyssey EX-L with RES and failed to pull the trigger when the incentives were good. When is the best time to buy given that the 2009s are about gone? I should buy but I can wait.
Looking for a 2010 Odyssey EX-L w/RES & NAV in N Florida, no dealers will come close to the best quotes I've seen elsewhere on this board (around $34k before TTL). Most dealers I've talked to are above $35k, does anyone know of any upcoming dealer incentives on the Odyssey? Thanks!
Hoping to get some thoughts on the quotes I've been getting on the 2010 EX-L w/RES. Dealers have been quoting in the 32400-32600 range (before taxes & fees) -- that's their initial quote without any negotiating on my part (yet). All the research I have indicates a "fair" price is around 31500. I'm curious as to why the dealers in their first quote are coming so close to the "fair" price. Makes me think I should offer lower -- 30k. I'm in the Washington, DC area if that helps.
Thoughts as to what is going on? Anyone in the DC area have a good sense of prices?
I have an offer and want to see what you all think. It is a 2007 Odyssey EX-L with 41,300 miles with sunroof, leather, etc. Honda certified as well. Offer is $21,900. What are your thoughts?
I used consumer reports, edmunds, and a couple of others I can't remember off the top of my head.Carbuyingtips.com is helpful as well. According to what I'm finding, the OTD price should be in the 33K range; selling price at 31.5K. Which is why I'm surprised that all the dealers came in about 1,000 over the bargain basement/fair price (allows for 3% profit). I know that 1,000 is pure profit for them (and doubles their profit from the fair price), but i would have thought their pricing would be higher for a new model. It makes me think that there are other incentives or fleet discounts going on.
Let me know if you find anything that indicates a fair price is below 31.5K. I really want to get the car for below 30K.
I'm working on the "fair price" spreadsheet from carbuyingtips.com, does anyone know the Honda factory holdback? Also, has anyone heard of any factory dealer incentives on Odysseys?
I just went through the same purchase decision in NY/NJ area: 2010 Odyssey EX/EX-l vs. 2010 Sienna LE. Ended up getting an Odyssey based on driving impressions and the deal I go on exactly the car I wanted: silver metallic EX-L w/out any extra options.
I insisted on and got "true invoice" price + $400 profit, based on the following invoice pricing info from consumerReports.org (can someone validate these #s?): EX EX-L Base MSRP 29,905 33,405 Base Invoice 27,098 30,261 Destination 710 710 Dealer Holdback 598 668 Bottom Line Price 27,210 30,303
I ended up paying 30,700 for the EX-L. Any feedback?
For what it's worth, another dealer offered a 2009 Oddysey in my trim choice for $1.2K below 2010, but I thought the 1-year worth of depression should be worth more than that and passed.
I got a quote for a used 2009 EX for $25,000 + TTL. It is a dealer demo and is considered used since the dealer took title 2 months ago. It has 4000-5000 miles on it. It is $27,500 out the door.
For the 2010, I can get it for $30,500 out the door. It will probably have less than 10 miles since it will be just off the truck when we get it.
I'm torn between the two. Which one would you select? Why? Is it worth paying $3,000 more to go with the 2010?
I'm also inclined on waiting until there's a rebate. Unfortunately, it may mean waiting until next summer. It would be nice if they have rebates around November-December. But, I guess no one knows.
I have never bought a used car but am now looking for a used Odyssey and could use some advice:
- is a Certified model worth the extra cost? - do I also buy an extended warranty, or are they included? - is HondaCare another extended warranty or the name for it, and is it only available at a dealer at time of purchase? - what model year would be the best to get to more closely approximate current 2010 models at a savings? I was thinking 2006 but wasn't sure when Honda fixed the transmission problems of earlier models or when the last model year upgrade was.
If you can wait, you should wait. According to experts, September promises to be the worst sales month of the year. Dealers are gouging people because of how well they did during C4C. I would certainly expect rebates by the end of October. that Demo EX is costing you more than a new EXL would have cost you a couple of months ago.
I was able to pick up an 2009 EX last night for $26,865 with a $75 doc fee before tax title and license in the Minneapolis area. I had another dealer quote me 26,700, but I opted for the higher priced one because of 1) I trusted the guy more 2) free car washes for life 3) free oil changes for life. I secured financiing at 3.9% from the Pentagon Federal Credit Union online at 3.9% for 60 months. www.penfed.org. Best buying experience I have had. I did it all via internet, email, cell phone. I did not have to step foot in the dealership or the bank. Picking it up tomorrow.
On 8/20 I paid 31,800 base + dest. - 3,500 C4C for 98 windstar = 28,300. People's nos. s.t. confusing. I am in Richmond, VA. He came down 892 to 31,800 when I showed him another local dealer's quote. When later looking for my color he said "are you sure he had 2010? he has 2009?" I didn't say another word and neither did he. i was so rushing to get this done before ford died - didn't even realize when I handed him quote it was 09! I forgot. Drove Oddy one time and had to have it! I've never been so excited about a car in my life! Loved the feel vs.Sienna and fact center tray folds down. Clunker only worked on EXL and up because of better mileage w/ Variable Cylinder Mgt. Guy in NJ (rik1 see no.24048)bought Bali Blue EXL for 30,855 (also C4C deal) but paid 3X my tax (here 3%). The invoice is 30,971 (base + dest). edmunds TrueMV showed others here paying 32,265. I did best I could as a girl in a very short time frame.1 week. I paid 23K cash. maybe c/do better..but got the last EXL of 3 dealers those last 2-3 days. Another guy called my saleman and now wanted it even w/o Res., (because inventory was gone, as you all know all this) but he told him it was gone. He traded it for my Mocha Metallic. This has been a very educational forum. I've read back to 8/21 (after the fact). I'm happy - as someone said do best you can and be happy. I've learned all this stuff later. You all know I read Oddy holds value better than any, even Toyota. So I am sooo glad I did not get a T&C or something, plus I hate their new body style.
Look I'm a girl & never done any of this stuff ever. I am ecstatic about my new EXL, but just read these forums about all the problems w/ electronics etc. I now believe in the extended warranty! I read the extended warranty forum. After I did this I cancelled what dealer sold me (cna, insur. co). Luckily I stopped listening to dealer fin. guy because I had 3 da. left to buy Honda Care - must be under 30 da. I don't know about the used cars. I got Honda Care on line after reading forum, well I already was trying to find Honda Care and had and then found the forum. There are several on line dealers who sell Honda Care, but cheapest I found was Saccucci Honda - dealer in Rhode Island. Google that or I think myhondawarranty.com. E.Wty EXTREMELY confusing topic. After sev. days my gut was to trust Honda all the way - buy Honda Care. From what I read on E.Wty forum Honda will take care of you. The rest maybe maybe not, mostly not. I went w/ gut -best way I think. Plus I do want Honda parts in my Honda. Guys know more about this stuff, but I want to keep this car good.
So $25,000 + TTL ($27,500 OTD) is not a good deal on a 2009 EX? I tried to look through posts 2 months ago, but I was not able to see any EX-L bought around this price. If you can point me to one, I appreciate it. Thank you.
I am offered a 2009 Odyssey LX with after market 10.2" inch DVD, Original Honda Back-up Sensors, Original Honda Security System, Tint, Door Guards, Mud Guards, Cargo Tray, Wheel Locks, Interior and Exterior upholstery/paint guard for 28K drive out. All equipment to carry full Honda Warranty. Is this a good deal?

Doc fee also very stiff. It should not be more than $250 at max.
