Thanks for the info. That price seemed too good to be true.

Could you give me the name of the salesman & his contact information that you worked with at BOCH? Thanks a lot.

Nope - we stop short of permitting the identification of specific salespeople and/or their contact info. It helps keep the solicitation down!

Pompano Beach Honda has a few of their cars on Ebay, as do a few other dealers.

    Hi,

Where did you buy? Did price include destination?

You probably can get the same alarm for 1/2 the price of the dealer (my guess).

Tinting can vary greatly in price - depends on location & type of tint. You can only legally tint your rear window & back door windows (3 all together). I bought 3m non-fading tint for our car (Mazada 5) with national warranty. Again, price greatly depends on your location.

Fantastic deal. You did better than I did. I paid the same price but no tax. I had to pay 500 to register in new hampshire. Nice job.

Any Honda dealership should top it off for free-just because you bought it elsewhere shouldn't really matter. Just bring it in and ask them about it. I would drive it for a while as the antifreeze level may even out after a few days . As long as there is antifreeze in the tank and you're not running hot, it's not a biggie.
  • smeezysmeezy Member Posts: 42
Right on, much appreciated on the feedback. I'm going to the local dealer and going to ask one of the mechanics to top off for me :)

  • blufz1blufz1 Member Posts: 2,045
First don't worry too much. Just go to the nearest dealer. They have opened bottles for topping off. They will do it for free. 2. Have them also check the radiator. NEVER OPEN THE RADIATOR CAP WHEN THE CAR IS WARM OR RUNNING. Hope this helps.
  • blufz1blufz1 Member Posts: 2,045
How does the out of state dealer to dealer delivery work? How much is the delivery charge? Thanks. You got a good buy.
  • chirocatchirocat Member Posts: 73
Did you check the level when the engine was hot or cold? For the level to be accurate the engine needs to be at operating temperature, same for the oil and power steering levels. If it is between the min and maximum I would not worry about it. There is no reason you can't open the PLASTIC overflow cap at any time, there is no pressure in the tank. As others mentioned, NEVER open the radiator when the engine is hot, unless you know what you are doing. Also, there is no reason you can not add just plain water to the overflow tank to bring the level up to MAX, that little amount will NOT affect the coolant/water balance(which is around 50/50). I hope that helps.

I actually found them on ebay. I emailed them for a price on an EX-L V6 with Navi. Their price was a little higher that the LaGrange, Georgia price but the dealership was closer to me. At the time they had a simliar model on ebay. However, their email price was less than the buy it now price. According to Chris, the salesperson, they had plenty of inventory left.

Is this a good price? My other choice is Civic coupe, LX for 15880 (manual, add 800 more for automatic).

If you got a better deal, I would greatly appreciate it if you could send me contact info for dealer/sales rep and your contact info.
My location is bay area, california. 50-75 miles distance is ok.

"This person was a local customer of ours. We will be getting his service business here to help make up some of the loss. This price of $16955.00 did not include the destination charge of $595.00 either. I will be able to sell you the SE Accord for $17,850.00."

This same dealer just quoted me for $18,500 and told me that's the lowest price.
  • jiimmmjiimmm Member Posts: 15
The sales associate actually drives the car to motor vehicle department in my town. He will assist in the transaction there. All this was included in the price quoted, hence only one visit to the dealer. Process started with a email quote from me, counter-offer over the phone and done in less than an hour. Did spend about 3 hours at dealership with test drive and paperwork.
  • blufz1blufz1 Member Posts: 2,045
How far did the out of state associate drive your new car to deliver it to you? Thanks for the information. I really didn't know anything about this type of buy.

    Just got one for $17,199.00 + $55.00 doc fee + $1,423.46 tax + $183.75 license for $18,861.21 OTD.

Probably could have waited a couple of more months to get a better deal, but I'm currently driving a SUV that gets 12 mpg in the city so any extra savings should be offset by the fuel cost.

I passed my numbers along to a friend. He got them to come down another $200. The catch though is that he is going to do a trade in...so, I don't trust that they won't make their money back that way. Anyway, the salesman told me that they have one more car that they could possibly offer at this price. its silver with black interior, but... it has a scratch on it somewhere. i didn't see it myself.

Stephen Vincel dropped another 200 dollars and lowered the Honda interest rate from 4.99 to 4.9%. Their internet price was already 2000 under all the KC dealerships. The KC dealers were all in the mid 24000 range and would/could not budge. All were very professional with the exception of Independence Honda. Be warned about them.

No hard sell on anything else. Didn't try to push warranty, paint protectant, fabric guard. We showed up test drove the car and looked it over, Signed the paperwork handed over the check and drove back home.

I also had no trade-in. The wife and I made a fun day of it. Our appointment to pick up was at 2:00, so we went down and had a nice lunch before heading in.

2007 Honda Accord SE, AT, Royal Blue Pearl

    $18,101 OTD

I was very pleased with the deal, since the sticker was $22k+. I was a little surprised we did so well. We just obtained the carsdirect price, and sent that it to all the local dealer's internet sales depts. We asked them to beat that price, and then played them off each other. Worked out very well.

I am buying my Accord EX Auto 4 Cyl from Lisle on Tuesday. They went down to 19057. Other fees apply is doc at $57.33. They are great to work with so far and would highly recommend them. I will let you know how the deal goes down. Thanks to grant2 for recommending them to me.

I'm amazed at the prices I'm seeing being posted here, your price is only slightly more than what the VP model goes for here.
  • donswartzdonswartz Member Posts: 28
I talked to a GM of a Honda Dealership today and he said that Honda of America is offering incentives to dealerships based on how much they sell compared to their target number. So basically the ones who over acheive will get more money back. If their goal is 50 cars in a month and they sell 100 then they get 1000 back per car. ie just an example. and if they sell 50 out of their goal for 50 then they get 500 back per car. This is why edmunds cannot post this because it varies per car lot.

Maybe at the end of the month your deal can put the car lot into the next tier and they would get 500 more than they expected on each car they sold for the entire month.

My wife thinks so too! I think the price we paid for the I4 EX 5AT is still the lowest one so far on the forum! ;)

Just drove home tonight with new 2007 Accord EX-L V6 w/out navigation. Purchased in Milwaukee, WI. Excellent service. Price was $22,960 + TTL inclusive of destination. Why would anyone wait for a 2008 model that will likeley sell for $1,000's over full MSRP for quite awhile after production begins. You cannot go wrong with the 2007 Accord's at the prices they are selling for. What a car. What a price. Buy one. Enjoy it.
  • alamocityalamocity Member Posts: 680
That information might well explain why some areas are seeing much better deals than other parts of the country.
  • fxguyfxguy Member Posts: 132
This price is phenomenal! I have no doubt that when i an ready in about 1 month, i will get the EX-L V6 w/navi for under $25K OTD! :)
  • louisnlouisn Member Posts: 110
My understanding was they also get more 2008 Accords if they sell more 2007 Accords this month. Someone said 2 for 1. With that promotion and the secret incentive you described that explains some of the VERY low price.

hi guys, i guess this is a little off topic, but i really need some advice.

If, after you sign all the paperwork (including VIN) and make a full payment, you find the car delivered has some defect. Can you ask for another car? Or the only thing you can do is to let the dealer fix it (normally in less than perfect condition)? Will you ask for some compensation from the dealer?

My car was sent to a body shop by the dealer more than a week ago and I stll don't know when I can get it back. I didn't wait until later in the month to buy the car because I need some time with the new car before I drive it for long distance at the end of July. Now I still don't have the chance to warm it up, yet the price has dropped by $800-1200 since my purchase. I'm really upset about it. Should a good dealer do something else in addition to 'fixing' the problem?

Did you get the 3.99% financing?
  • nittany12343nittany12343 Member Posts: 4
You didn't describe the "defect," but your recourse is driven by State law - primarily contract law, but also if the State has a "lemon law" and what it says constitutes a defective automobile. You tendered an "offer" to the car dealer to purchase a car and the car dealer, by virtue of "accepting" your offer, agreed to provide you with a car. It is reasonable to assume that your offer was conditioned on receiving a car without a "major" defect. It is expected that cars will have some minor defects associated with them (rattles, squeaks), so the question would be how serious the defect is and would a reasonable person expect that such a defect would be present in the car as delivered to you. It doesn't sound like this is a minor defect, so perhaps you could allege a breach of contract by the dealer.

Also, depending on whether the State where the transaction occurred has a "lemon" law, you may be able to get some satisfaction through this law as well. Finally, if the dealer isn't willing to do the "right" thing, consider reporting them to the local Better Business Bureau, which often has a free mediation program.
  • zswxzswx Member Posts: 55
Hi, many thanks for your information!

There are two tiny scratches or dents (1.5mm*2mm each) on the hood and paint is missing on the 2 spots. I would say the defect is minor and probably won't be a basis to return or exchange the car by law.

However I bought this car on 7/13, not later this month (although I knew price should drop towards the end of month), because I have plans for it during this period. But now 11 days after my purchase, I still haven't got it back, and buying it earlier with a higher price becomes pointless now. I just wonder whether a good dealer should show some sympathy/guilt by offering me something else that makes me feel a little better.

I am in Nashville and looking for best OTD price paid by buyers here for Accord EXL/EXL-V6. Nash car shoppers, please share your best prices and from which dealer you got it. I could drive to Memphis too.
  • louisnlouisn Member Posts: 110
I bought a EX-L V-6 for 24,100 from Wolfchase in Memphis about a year ago. Should be able to go lower now-Keep me informed if you try Memphis.
  • nittany12343nittany12343 Member Posts: 4
I don't think that dents and scrapes are expected on a new car. The question is whether the dealer has provided you with reasonable accomodation under the circumstances and although they are fixing the problems, 11 days is excessive and I would tell them you want compensation. Also check with your Better Business Bureau to see if the dealer is a member and, if so, tell the dealer that you are prepared to file a negative report against them if they don't provide you with something. This will usually cause them to "deal" b/c the reports are public records.

    Good luck!

    All,

This is the second half to post # (msg #15715).

Smackldog and I (ddwmew) met in this forum. We developed and tested a strategy in Northern, VA (NOVA) to purchase Honda Accords.

We met at dealer in NOVA on the 4 Jul and they were not able to physically deliver the vehicle and wanted me to return on the 6 Jul for paperwork. 6 Jul was not feasible because my out of state vacation began on the 5th Jul. On the other hand everything worked out well for smackldog and he took delivery on 6th Jul.

Returned on the 16 Jul and continued my search.

On 23 Jul purchased a 2007 Honda Accord EX with 4 cyclinders, cloth interior and automatic transmission for $18,781 OTD. :)

    Details Below:

    MSRP: $23,350.00
    Invoice: $21,165.00

    Sales Price: $17,465.83
    Dest: $595.00
    Proc Fee: $49.00
    Sales Tax: $543.29
    Tags (2 years): $128.00

    OTD: $18,781.12

    Thanks for all the postings

    Hi ddwmew

Than you so much for the post. It is an increadible price. Could you please give me more info about the dealer? Thanks a lot!
  • smeezysmeezy Member Posts: 42
Ok, I went to the local dealer and saw a buddy of mine from highschool at the service shop and he topped it off for me. In the manual it states DO NOT add any water as the honda coolant is already mixed with water.

Before I had it topped off, the coolant level was at the minimum level. I also checked the radiator when it was cold and it was full of water. Checked the other fluids and they looked good.

One more question, when I was at the dealership taking the car for a test drive, I tested the AC to ensure it was working properly. Back at the dealership I looked under the car to see any leaks and I did see fluid dripping. I backed up the car to see and my buddy who came with me told me it was from the AC and the liquid was clear. Is that normal?

Is your LX V6 inclued Alarm, wheel locks.
    thanks.
  • hd9691hd9691 Member Posts: 18
I think it was the condensation from the A/C.

I also help a friend bought a 07 Accord V6 SE from Hayward for 21.5k OTD without Alarm, but with wheel locks.
  • louisnlouisn Member Posts: 110
Good standard legal advice. But I just might go down to the dealer and say you're canceling the contract and are highly disappointed in their dealership and mention terms like: consumer rights and rescission of contracts, material breach, nonconforming. Tell the you want a pristene car not one with bondo. They might cave or just laugh.Bring your crying kids with you for the sympathy.... But nothing ventured... :confuse:
