I got a couple of calls from dealers with whom I had "parted as friends, and agreed to disagree". Since they called, I went again to try my luck. My current visits are very painless because these guys know exactly where I stand.

This is what I found. Prices are coming down but the dealers have started adding obscene amounts of accessories to make up for the price deterioration. 2 weeks ago, I saw cars on the lot with only splash guards, wheel locks, pinstripes, etc. which they were ready to throw in for free.

Now, a lot of cars had moonroof visor, spoiler, etc. which they generally don't give away free. Suddenly, the same cars which had $299 worth of accessories, now have $1,599 worth of accessories. This particular dealer actually gave a $500 lower price, but promptly added back $1,599 and said that he has to charge for the accessories. I actually saw a Alabaster Silver EX-L-V6 on lot with nothing on it. I said I will pick that up. The sales manager said without batting an eyelid "That car is not ready for sale yet, it needs some prepping". He defined prepping as "something these service guys do, I don't know".

Bottom line, the lowest you will go in DFW market is about $1,500 after adding in all worthless accessories.

Done, but I see now it says up to $3000 on Accords, sorry. I would go to the Koons site and do the instant quote on the Accord you want. They instantly sent me a $2000 below invoice with free Accessory package quote. They have since said they have lowered this by $300. I have bought a car from them before and they were very honest and easy to deal with. This time I used the price with another dealer that had the color with the 5 speed I was looking for. I was afraid to wait for them to get me a car as I had had this fail years ago. Good luck.

I don't believe some of these price quotes some of you are getting. The dealers here in Kansas City act like I am crazy when I mention prices that low. The best I can get is $200 off of invoice on a 2007 Accord SE Auto. Are there incentives to the dealers or something? Are the discounts regional or only off certain models? :confuse:
  • area123area123 Member Posts: 22
Is this good? It seems a little high for an LX when people here are getting SE for the same or a little less. My sales tax is only .0325 so that saves about $600 over other states I guess.

Here are the good quote I got. (From Aug 2nd to 6th)

Not a bad price, 4500~5000 below MSRP.

    Honda of Joliet
2007 Accord VP Manual, 14705 + tax and fees
2007 Accord VP Auto, 15458 + tax and fees
2007 Accord LX Auto, 16813 + tax and fees

    Honda of Lisle
2007 Accord VP Auto, 15995 + tax and fees

    Valley Honda
2007 Accord VP Auto, 15495 + tax and fees

Lowest price among Indiana dealer is around 17000+tax and fee

I end up in Valley Honda, since they have the right color I want.

    Just for you reference

    Hey j,

I live in Blue Springs and found the same thing you did. I ended up going to Stephen Vincel Honda in St Louis to get my new Honda. No one in KC is even on the same planet with the price I got there. Let me know if you want info.

    Hey Everyone,

Lets all clarify when we say "invoice". Edmunds, for example, lists invoice for different honda models, but it is hard to see if we are all referring to the same source for invoice. We all know that dealers believe "invoice" is a magic number much higher than Edmunds invoice.

RE: dealers who are only going $200 off "invoice". Walk through their lots! Most dealers have very limited amount of Civics but TONS of Accords growing old on the lots. When you see a dealer with lots of Accords, they will deal. You just have to be willing to be strong and start walking for the door when they cant meet your number. When you walk for the door, they will come and get you. Seen it, done it.

    cink,

I am with you. I am talking about the common published invoice number. Happens to be $20,196, including destination fee for the '07 Accord SE Auto I am looking for. They literally laugh at me if I am adamant and insist on a better deal. I have walked out the door at three dealerships. It doesn't seem to bother them. All three of these dealerships have several Accords in stock.

    Hello folks,

I got a deal for $19,400+ TTL (doc fee was $55) from Honda of Hayward for the car above w wheel locks and grocery net. Got the deal from the internet manager (go to their website for the direct number).

    Buying experience:
I first dealt with Capitol Honda in San Jose. I mentioned to the manager that I will do an internet price hunt since they were not giving me a good price. He promised that he will beat any internet price by $300. The lowest internet quote I got was from Honda of Hayward for $19,400. When I went back to Capitol Honda with the price, the manager agreed to the committed price (grudgingly after 45 minutes of disappearing, if I may add), but could not give me the color I wanted. He showed me the list of colors that he had in inventory (just 3). When I selected the color of my choice, he could not find that specific color in his lot. At that time I called Stevens Creek Honda asking if they would match the price ($19,100) and if they had the color of my choice. They said 'yes' to both, but once I showed up at the store, they found different excuses to disagree with their phone commitment.

The next day I asked my friend to call Capitol Honda to check on color option, and low and behold, they had all the colors he wanted!

The two experiences in South Bay left such a bad taste in my mouth that I decided to pay the extra $300 that Honda of Hayward wanted, and get the car from there.

The salesperson threw in the options and a tank of gas for free. The overall experience was good at this dealership.

Stay away from the extended warranty options. Get them online!

    Cheers!

I have an email quote for $4,500 off of MSRP from dealer in MA. I asked if he meant off of MSRP of $21,670 he said yes so price would be $17,170 + fees of course. Any thoughts on this?

Mike Patton in GA 1st internet price quote of 19,765 plus tax/title. Anyone buy from there and know how they are with trade-in values? It's a 2 hour drive and I don't want to go all the way there and get low-balled on my trade-in!

Depends on where you are, quotes are different. I bought one last weekend LX 4cyl auto sedan for $18.16k OTD in Rockville, MD, with wheel locks, splash guards. I am a VA resident, so the tax is about the same as yours. MD dealers charges $99 processing fees, and VA dealers at least $299. I did not go through all the dealers I wanted, but I got the price I had wished for, and I was tired to continue bargaining.

I had two and fro discussion with Landmark internet representative. He was quoting low but got annoyed when I asked him why is there an appearance package charge for $599 for wheel locks, pinstripe ,mudguards. He got further angry when I asked him to match dddmew's price. In the end he was very rude and said that if I could get a car for that price I should let him know.He would want to buy one too.Be wary of them.

Finally ot mine at the local dealer at 22.5K+TTL, OTD is around 24.1. Not a super deal but saved me a long long trip.

I thank Ddwmew and rsabai's info about purchasing the car.

BTW, I am in northern TX.

I picked up a White/Ivory I4 SE for 18,400 (including dest.) from Miller Honda in Van Nuys, CA. It was 20,1xx OTD with the $55 doc fee. He had 2 more of the I4 SE's on the lot: one was Silver/Black, and the other Black/Ivory. Contact Bruce Abernathy. He was also letting the V6 SE's go for 19,900. Next door at Robertson Honda of North Hollywood I managed to get 18,500 and 20,000 respectively. ($100 more for either) They only had one V6 and quite a few I4's. Robertson should be able to match the Miller prices, but Bruce at Miller gave me no problems. The contact at Robertson is Dexter. I also went to Kolbe in Reseda, Keyes in Woodland Hills, and Honda of Thousand Oaks. They all showed me the door when I showed them the Miller prices. Good luck to you all.

I just noticed something unordinary with my new accord coupe lx. I'm not sure what it's called but the "lining/molding" along the perimeter of the rear windshield is absent. I can see how thick the rear windshield is along with foam underneath it. The lining I'm speaking of is rubber and suppose to protect the car from water/rain and allow it to drain properly. Is this normal? I don't quite understand how the foam underneath the windshield will last since it's exposed. What can I do about this?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,041
If it looks like something is missing, I'd get back to the dealership ASAP, and at least compare it to another coupe...

If it is missing a gasket or seal, you don't want it to get wet.

We just returned from a trip to Mike Patton Honda in Lagrange GA. I bought a 2007 Accord Hybrid. It was an 18 hour drive for me (western KS.)It was well worth the drive. Great price, trade-in was done with pictures via e-mail and car was ready to go when we got there.Beautiful driving in that part of the country also.

I vaguely remember someone on this board bought SE AT i4 in So. CA for $17200 in late July, so the price has increased since then? I was hoping to find a similar deal to buy a second Accord for the family. :(

Hi! I just received a quote on a 2007 Accord LX Sedan Automatic for $17,208 (not including fees). I'm in the Northern NJ area, but I have access to Eastern PA dealers as well as Central and South Jersey dealers. Anyone have any information on prices they've recently paid in for this car in this area? I'm curious if I have any bargaining room...

    Thanks!

How much OTD was the hybrid?
  • hbj2hbj2 Member Posts: 22
Open Road Honda of Edison had quoted me $16888+Dest+TTL+Doc fee on 7/28. They had a sale going on at that time and they had LX Auto vehicles left till 7/30 when I was on their lot.

Go to their website and request a quote.

I recently bought an SE Auto and Planet Honda (Union), Honda of Princeton and Rossi Honda (Vineland) were the other good quotes. I finally bought from Rossi.

    Hi,

It was post #16008. The poster said that Norm Reeves & Santa Ana Honda had same prices. I contacted Norm Reeves ~8/2/07 & was given a price of $17,600 over the phone. Didn't check further. Maybe at the end of this month, prices will come down again - it appears they went up. If I can get 17,200, I'll buy. I'm in Eastern Ventura county area so Norm Reeves is a bit far for me. But will drive if I can get 17,200.

  • 1lpn1lpn Member Posts: 11
$17,200 is probably without destination for an SE. In this case, my price is $17,800, about $600 higher, but still $2k under invoice. If your price of 17,600 is including destination, you should jump on it. Otherwise, the prices are similar.

The stock of the lower end models (LX, SE) is dwindling. I saw plenty of EX and EX-L models on the lots, but those are still pricey if you don't need leather and seat heaters (or don't want it in the LA heat) and the other options. Color choices (and combinations) are also getting thin, so waiting will leave many with buying higher end trims in colors they might not like.

Can you verify the dest. charge in the $17,600 price?

I bought a 2007 LX auto for $19,000 + tax couple of months ago from Mile High Honda in Denver after a lot of bargaining and a lot of comparison shopping. But now I get calls from Boch Honda in MA almost every other day ( got one even today ) offering to sell me the SE I4 auto for $17200 + tax. On Saturday they were willing it to reduce it by another couple of hundred dollars if I was ready to commit rght then. Why is there such an enormous difference?

I called the Denver dealer today and he said price for an SE I4 Auto is more than $19000 ( I did not bother to get exact price when he said that ) + doc fee ($399) + tax and he suggested that I go buy the car from wherever I got the $17200 price. He even said that he remembers my LX purchase very distinctly and that I did not give him any profit at all ( yeah right!!! ). I understand the concepts of supply and demand, demographics, regional variations, market dynamics, volume discounts and such, yet am simply surprised by the more than $2500 variation in prices from one region to another. Isn't American Honda going to do something about this? It is almost time for a grey market here. Set up shop in MA, take orders from people interested in buying cars at a lower price, get the car from Boch and ship it to the buyer wherever he/she may be in USA. That wouldn't cost more than $800 right?

As other people have suggested here the local dealers in Colorado do think that I am from a different planet when I mention the prices at which cars are selling in MA, Northern VA and Southern CA.
  • 1lpn1lpn Member Posts: 11
I was told that honda is going to give $1000 back for every car a dealer sells for the year if they hit 110%, meaning that they would need to sell 10% more cars this year than last. If they believe they can pull it off, it is worth throwing some money on some deals for a huge windfall at the end of the year.

The same person said that many dealers know at this point they are not going to hit the 110% goal, so there is no reason for them to throw their own money into the pot. If this is true, the $2k incentive + $1k kickback = $3k without losing money on the deal. Of course, they could further sweeten it for the reason mentioned earlier. However, if the dealer thinks that he has it already made, there is no reason to go below the 2k mark, or discount even less. It also seems to me that only the larger (volume) dealers will go to the 2K under invoice mark, as smaller dealers work on keeping their margins high and volume low.

Now, there could be other advantages for the dealer to get rid of the cars faster, such as larger allocation of the new models, which will have financial incentives as this dealer will have a larger stock and be more competitive against it's neighboor dealers.
  • alamocityalamocity Member Posts: 680
I'm not sure how Boch and the other dealerships are able to sell the Accord at those prices either, granted higher inventories might cause them to low ball the prices. I know in my area that comes out to be a roughly $1667.00 lower than any dealership offers in my area. Somehow I don't think that everyone who inquires about the vehicle will receive the same quote and do wonder whether they have a high doc fee as well as a lot of accessories to help make up the difference.
  • jonpagejonpage Member Posts: 25
Quick question - what happens to any unsold inventory when the 2008 hits the market? Some of these dealerships in Dallas market simply do not have space on their lots. Do the dealers "own" the inventory or does Honda own it and dealers only sell it for Honda as an agency? :confuse:

    1lpn,
Thanks for your detailed explanation. I have one question though. What is the $2k incentive you are talking about? Who gives that incentive to whom? Is that a rebate from Honda? I thought there are no rebates for Accords at this time.

I am looking at a buying a car either a Honda Accord EX-L 2007 or a Camry. Can someone tell me what price I should pay for a 2007 Honda Accord EX-L Automatic Transmission (4 Cylinder). I did not know if I should ask below invoice because I am not familiar with holdback % of Honda. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am in Greenville, SC so I would buy from Greenville or Greer dealerships.

    Thanks

I won't get it wet 'til I find out the the seal/molding/lining along the perimeter of the rear window is suppose to be there. I haven't had time to go check out the local honda dealership and compare, and I bought it at another dealership a couple of hours away. Assuming there is a defect in the missing seal, can I take it to the local dealership and have them install one for free? Or do I have to go to the dealership I bought it from?

Boch Honda was pretty easy to deal with. At the end of June i paid 21900 for an EX-L coupe black on black. The manager showed me his invoice price, which matched mine. He then said that he had a rebate from Honda that people didn't know about (probably because I really low-balled him an offer) I agreed to pay 200 over invoice minus the rebate, which came out to 21900. I probably could have gotten more $$, but was overall satisfied with the deal. The sticker price on the car was about 26000 dollars. The only fee was a doc fee of 295 (lower than a lot of other places I had visited) and a title fee of 65$ which is needed to register the car in Massachusetts. If you have any questions feel free to email me or ask. Also let me know what you think about the deal.

So, how much was the price of the car (before ttl) to make it worth your while to travel so far??
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
Well your 'best value' deals right now would be on the Honda, as 2008 is a redesign and will be hitting the dealerships shortly. They're moving the 2007's out at least 2K under invoice. Read the forum here for lot's of good info and relative price points.

For a good idea of the Camry prices, you can use www.fitzmall.com website for inventory details and competitive price points, but recognize that Toyota's in the south will be about 600 more than that because of the SET organization. If you can match Fitzmall, you'll be doing excellent in Greenville.
  • amshereamshere Member Posts: 19
The best I have been able to find for an EXL was $20700 +TTL .In va taxes are 3.17%.I think you deal is very good.
  • alamocityalamocity Member Posts: 680
I'm guessing you will see price reductions coming later this month in anticipation of Labor Day weekend. Will they drop as low as Boch and other dealerships I don't know, but somehow I doubt it will in the Texas market anyway.
  • bauer24bauer24 Member Posts: 21
Don't talk to them in person! I keep doing better each day with emails (2 days now) and won't waste my time at dealers. Also, I refuse to give out my phone number until i get close to a deal-always at work (use this as excuse). See post #16264 for great advice! If I were you I would do a search for Honda dealers in Kansas and email about 3-5 internet sales managers and then use the cheaper quote each time to get better quote with another and see how low they will go. Get stuck with same price? Keep doing search and repeat. So I am going to try to "beat the dealer" from advice on #16264. The dealer I want is close with alot of SE's on his lot. I am saving the dealers close to me for last so I won't travel as far, hopefully. Good luck and happy searching! ;)

Thanks to this forum and ebay, I just bought a new EXLV6 for $23,300.00 out the door. Car came with mudguards and pinstripes also. Document fees and lemon law fees are included. The taxes are not included and will be paid to my Tax Collector when I tag the vehicle. This was the best deal that I could find on an Accord. Has anyone been able to do better?
  • ralph9ralph9 Member Posts: 88
I paid $20,906 for this vehicle at Front Range Honda in Colorado Springs. This price included all fees. They matched the bid of Fisher Honda in Boulder (75 miles away).
Fisher Honda also quoted $19,392 for the SE sedan I-4 A/T as the price including all fees with no accessories.
On the EX that I purchased there were $1213 worth (MSRP)of accessories that I wanted and I paid $818 for them.
Across the Front Range of Colorado there was a paucity of Accord sedans in the colors I wanted. This deal was the best I could do in my area. Ralph

Just picked up an Accord SE 4 cyl in graphite pearl at Christiansburg of Virginia. The total out of door price is $19096. I am happy with the car so far. I was debating for a while if I should choose the SE or VP since the price for VP is only $15995 (plus TTL) here. I decide to choose SE because I think I need to have at least 4 disk brakes.

Was considering of a 07 Camry CE or LE and have to give up due to the increasing concerns of its transimition and accelaration lag problems.
