2008 Honda Accord Sedan LX Auto Stock #209222
$19,107.71 + tax & license ($900 Below Invoice)
2008 Honda Accord Sedan EXL Auto Stock #208445
$23,297.26 + tax & license ($1,000 Below Invoice)
Expires 2/18/2008
Dealer "A" has car for $21,000 plus $1,000 "doc" fee and taxes.
Dealer "B" has same car for $22,000 plus $250 "doc" fee and taxes.
I personaly would go for car from dealer "A" because the OTD price is lower even though they have a higher doc fee.
Folks you can whine, complain, negotiate etc... the various fees however what matters at the end of the day is the OTD price because we ALL pay an OTD price.
Thanks for posting merlin0821 you got a good price indeed which also should give others somewhat of a benchmark.
You are my "good neighbor".
It's not that it matters if a car is $22000 + $500 dealer fee vs $22450 + $50 fee. That's $22500 either way and saying you paid $22000 is deceptive and saying you paid $23367 "OTD" with your local taxes mixed in is just confusing.
No one needs to see your tax and license bundled into your "OTD" price because that tax rate doesn't apply to them unless they are registering the car in the same county as the poster.
The most useful price to post to a national audience would be posting your total "before taxes" price. That would include any fees they dealer charges without your local government registration and sales tax.
Two people posting the same $23,367 OTD price did not get the same deal for the car if one buyer was in Portland, Oregon and the other was in San Francisco, California.
Great info. Looking into buying EXL 4 dr in SOCAL. Glad that the prices are going down...
I checked Edmunds' and it shows: $22,705 Invoice Price plus $635 Dest Charge for a total of $23,340 Total.
Or is Inv Price lower in North Calif?
Thanks,
I use Invoice Price vice OTD, as well.

Beaverton Oregon - Bob Lamphere Beaverton Honda. Some facts:
- EX-L V6 - Polished Metal Metallic
- Black leather interior
- Rear Spoiler
- Mud Flaps
- wheel locks
- 230 miles on it!!!
- liked Altima - had pricing for 08 Altima 3.5 SL for 27k (really good deal I think)
Ok so the negotiation on the 08 Accord starts. They had a 'sale price' of $28,800. I had an Internet manager offer for the same base vehicle from another dealer that was farther away for $26,868 with mud flaps only. I offered that same amount at Beaverton Honda and of course out comes the sales manager. First thing out of his mouth "We are the largest Honda dealer in the Northwest"...oh boy that means they are not going to deal with me I'm thinking (which turned out true). So I tell him about the offer from another dealership. He says they are lying to get me in the door - call them and ask for a VIN number...so I call to validate. The Internet manager at Gladstone Honda (who was very up front and honest with me) then says sorry we don't have with black leather (I forgot to specify this with her in my email) only grey but we have one coming in will honor at the same price when it comes in. I tell this to local dealer. He tries to tell me that:
- that color is the most wanted
- Honda Accords are NOT invoive vehicles
- they are the largest dealer and there's no way anyone else can sell theirs for that little and make money
- he said he would work with me on the Silver accord (they had 4-5 on hand)
I tell him:
- if you are the largest dealer then you get volume pricing and holdbacks (he stumbled a bit when I said this!)
- this vehicle has been on the lot for a while since it has 230 miles on it (plus I test drove it the weekend before)
- I don't want the silver
- I'll go to 27k (hey I really liked it!) since it has the wheel locks and spoiler
he counters
- well with the dealer installed accessories I'll want more then that but why don't you and the sales guy talk about it see what you can do
I offer sales guy one last time: tell him 27k, I'll do financing through you and since you are 5 miles from my house all service work will be here. He comes back w/ a no and I leave the lot. Then the salesman calls me later in the evening and has the audacity to ask me if I purchased from the other dealer. I explained to him again that the other dealership didn't have black leather but have one coming in. He said they did too and give me a call if you'd like to deal on it (yea right I thought).
In my opinion - this dealer was very selfish. I offered a thousand OVER invoice -- which that's the published invoice - I'm sure they were making much more then that on the vehicle (please anyone correct me if I'm wrong on that point). I'm very frustrated at the "Large Volume" dealers - don't be fooled people - this is the second Large Volume dealer I've dealt with. Because they are large they know that the vehicle is going to sell eventually anyway and as such are not willing to work with you or give you a good deal!!!!
So I'll be purchasing from another dealership soon enough. And I'll go out of my way to get service somewhere else as well.
I would appreciate any thoughts on whether I should buy the V 6 ex or the 4 cyl EXL. They are similar in price. What is the better choice, leather or the 6 cylinder?
I can't afford both.
Now I'm disappointed with the operation of the VCM system on my car. If I had it to do over, I'd have got the EX-L 4 banger, or spent even a little more and gone with an Acura TL. If you do decide on the V-6, do yourself a favor and take an extended test drive to make sure that the VCM doesn't bother you.
Total OTD $27,681.40. Area is southwest Ohio.
It's very competitive in Southern California.
If you get a chance could you let me know what area/dealer in MA you worked with? I am right outside Boston, on the South Shore and have sent out information to various dealerships both on and off the automile. I am looking for an 08 Accord Coupe EX-L V6 with Nav, in either the Nighthawk Black or Taffeta White. I saw the TMV around here was just around $29,000 so seems like you got a good deal. I currently have a 2005 Pilot with the lease ending in March, so looking to roll over the original downpayment. Any suggestions would be great thanks!
I am looking to buy the 2008 EXL Accord Sedan w/ cyl no navi.
I live in the NY, Ct area. So far the info I have seen is:
$22,705 Invoice plus $635 Dest Charge for a total of $23,340.
Is this the price I should offer? Or can I get this car at a lower price.
Any help on price & dealers would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Buy the V6 if you don't plan on driving the vehicle for a long time and are interested in maximum resale value.
If you plan on driving the car for many years, seriously consider the I4 and only purchase the V6 if power means a lot to you. I have the I4 and, while it certainly is no race car, its is absolutely adequate. I, personally, don't buy the "need it for emergency acceleration" excuse. Buy the 6 cyl. if you plan on using all those ponies often.
With regard to the V6, there is an advantage to having more torque at a lower RPM. My I4 doesn't start generating much power until I'm high into the RPM range and, consequently, the transmission shifts out of over-drive often at interstate speeds. The power is adequate, but the engine does more shifting than it would with a V6. The I4 is perfectly mated to the 5-speed manual transmission and that is your very best option if you really want the machine to work to its potential (although MT can be a death-sentence for resale).
Finally, I am not confident that the V6's active engine mounts, complicated and expensive control modules and VCM system are a "good for the long-run" technology. For me, a V6 would necessarily require an extended warranty.
The EX-L, while no more functional than the EX, does include a number of items that make it a significantly nicer car. Among many other things, the stereo in the EX SUCKS, IMHO. The stereo in the EX-L, while hardly earth-shaking, is 100x better. Oh yea -- one more -- I've always hated pleaded leather. It looks good for about 5 days before it starts to crease. All 08 EX-L Accords have pleaded leather. :-(.
Good luck! I've been happy with mine!
How was your experience with Brewster.
I live 10 miles away from them.
Invoice: 25,500
Dest 650
Docs 250
---------------------
Total: 26400
Paid: 25,950
Deal -450 (below invoice)
Please note that Boch Honda offers up to $3,850 off the invoice on any new Accord (Boston Globe from this Sunday). I already bought a car but will call them tomorrow out of curiosity.
I just purchased the fighting chance package and asking for advice who has used this package before.
if yes, did you include invoice price for vehicle in Fax/Email attack template, that was sent to every dealer? or wait for dealer to respond with best offer?
Also what's the best price for EX-L V4 with Nav in Seattle area.
Thanks in advance!!
Many have posted here telling of $25,950, including destination charge, for that very car and color combination in the Boston, MA, area, the Washington, DC area, Mike Patton in LaGrange, GA, DCH in Paramus, NJ and other dealers around the country. Good luck and enjoy your new car!
I bought the 4-door at Chambers in Burlington (right off 95). I didn't notice many coupes there at all - but they have a strange setup where most of the inventory is kept in a parking area behind the building. I also shopped Atamian in Tewksbury (right off 495) I wasn't thrilled about the experience there, but they did have probably 6-8 coupes. I didn't notice the color combos. Good Luck!
Called Boch Honda and they told me it was a 'typo'
Got a call from the Client Care Specialist at Herb Chambers Honda of Seekonk. A lovely young lady told me that she has my car for $25,300 - $25,900 including destination but not the documentation fee of $259. The lower range is $400 less than I payed for my car
Picked up my car from the dealer. Black on black looks fantastic. I will run it on a highway tonight and report if I like VCM or not.
Edmunds Invoice: $23,428 + 635 destination = $24,063
Internet Price Quote: $24,500 (includes destination only)
Internet Price Quote invoice claimed: $24,300 (includes destination only)
I searched all local dealer's inventory and there are a lot of vehicles in my area that are I4 EX-L with the color combo I want. I have heard people getting a few hundred below invoice. I would never pay over $24k for this vehicle.
What price did you purchase your car or have you seen someone purchase for a 4 Cylinder EX-L (no navi)?
The lack of available V6 Accord Auto Coupes w/navi is not going to help negotiations. Anyone from the NE area have similar experiences finding a 08 V^ Auto w/Navi? What are the OTD prices?
Of course, if all you want is a GPS system to find your way around, then aftermarket GPS unit is the way to go. Also, Honda Navi doesn't have live traffic information that some of the newer more expensive GPS units have.
Thanks
