Just picked up my EX-L V4 Auto in Boston for $21k (before TTL). Also had quoted LX for $17,8k. Great dealer and great internet buying experience. Definitly helps to shop around, $1k lower than my local dealers.

(RE: the 03 EX V6 sedan without Navigation.) I helped my daughter make the $23196 +TT&L purchase via the internet/ +phone calls which required a 300 mile hike to Dallas to pick it up. She and her husband made the journey last night and went to do the deal this morning. When they got there, turns out their car had some transit damage. Pretty bad dents on the roof.
Not a great situation (or maybe it was). Who knows what was going on, why they took a deposit on a damaged vehicle, or what the car was doing on the inventory, but the dealer definitely was not trying to pull anything. After the smoke cleared, 5 hours later, she drove away in an EX V6 in her second choice color. For her trouble, David McDavid (Dallas) kicked in a dealer package (wheel locks, trunk tray, mud guards, and upgraded alarm system), and reduced the price another $500. She didn't ask for it. They just did it to make things right. She got it for $22,696. I'd say David McDavid went above and beyond.

Start with the "Tips and Advice" blue tab at the top of this page. Read all you can about negotiating. And check out the TMV for that vehicle via the links under the "New Car" blue tab.

That should get you started ...

    Good luck!

Is the wood grain (Birdseye look) standard feature for EX V6 model? Does it differ depending on the color I choose? Cars Direct shows metal look as standard. Thanks in advance!

the wood trim is option, the metal grain is standard.

From difference source, the dealer cost in canada is:

    Accord I4 LX-G: $24050 vs. MSRP $26000
    Accord V6 EX: $30063 vs. MSRP $32500

They aggreed to sell the car for $300 over dealer cost, so whatelse I need to ask from dealer? Do I need to buy the anti theft wheel nuts? I am going to buy the 6Cyl EX model.

    thanks

"I was very impressed, I was reading a post that suggested to try them out.
They deliverd it to my house and the paper work was signed in my living room.
Nothing get's easier than that.If your from the so.cal area give them a try."

Same deal here, same level of service. When buying my new honda, I shopped Palmdale shop, could not get the price I wanted then went with the Lancaster dealer. With a car like the Honda, well same product is available at many dealers, why be held hostage by a local dealership.

I posted the Lancaster Honda Ca. It was your original post that led me to them, Thanks.

We went looking for a new/used EX for the Mrs today (8-31-03).
Found the vehicle with no nav......all standard equip (I think?).....It did have mud-guards and "all" the side curtain air-bags, Leather, dual pwr seats, CD, air, pwr everything, moonroof, etc......
However....this car had 3,000 miles on it. When we discussed $$ they mentioned bottom dollar as $23.5k.....My wife immediately started looking in an auto trader and found the same type used accord for $19.5k...(we called and it was already sold)....When we showed this 19.5k price the salesman tells us "good-luck" and we walked.....
I got home and found this group and I am so glad we did not buy their car.....although I would like to make them an offer of $20 and settle for $20.5.
I thought dealers REALLY wanted to get rid of the 03's? Do you think my offer would be a good price?
    Thanks

Purchased in Ft. Laud. for wife today a silver EX 4CYL 4dr. Leather- Automatic for $21,000 incl dealer fees + TTL with 2.9% financing. Traded in 2000 Mazda Millenia with 66K+ miles which had been repaired after being rear-ended. Was given $6700 for trade; in my opinion a little low but wanted out of this car. I never really liked the drive but my wife liked the car and she drove it. After the accident my wife felt the Millenia was bad luck and as minor cosmetic things started to happen with it she was ready to part ways. She drives over 20K/yr so we opted to buy the HondaCare warranty 5yr/100K for $1120 and took further advantage of the 2.9% financing. Did my homework here on Edmunds and also used Carsdirect.com. Got bids submitted via the Internet by some dealerships then went in to the nearest dealer. I think I did OK on this deal but not sure because it seems the deal came too easy. Anyway, the wife loves the Accord! The ride is great and she'll save plenty on gas! The Millenia required Premium and I'm sure the gas mileage will be better on the Accord as well.

Cars direct is quoting this car new for 23,450 or so in my neck of the woods. Considering this is now a used car, last years model, you should be able to get a good deal.

Considering this is a "used" car with 3 k miles, sounds like finance fell out for the original buyer, I'd offer $22,000 and see what happens.

@ $22 K, you'd be getting a heck of a deal, sales staff probably will not be happy, OH WELL.

Just got a silver 2004 EX and love it. The dealership was in the middle of the big year-end clearance but did not have the model we wanted in the 2003 (only had demos left). Got the '04 for $22,800 plus tax, tags, freight; included "appearance package" (floormats, mud guards, pinstripes, wheel locks). Great financing deal too (3.44%). Rosenthal Honda in Tysons Corner, VA. The first 2004 Honda they have sold!

Just traded in a '98 Civic EX auto with 78K miles for $7000.
Bought a '03 Accord EX V-6 for $24K at Bel Air Honda in Bel Air MD.
Price was best in the area for the new car, considering what I got for the trade.
Sales people at Bel Air Honda were much better than any other Honda dealership in the area.

Jfaircloth, congrats on your purchase, it sounds nice. Question, Who provided the financing @3.44%, was it Honda finance corp, or the dealer bank or what....That is a very good rate, and I would like to check into further for my purchase, Thanks. Sir_col

Hello, Im looking to buy a new accord in the near future. Has anyone had any experiece with either Keenan in Doylestown, JL Freed in Lansdale, Sussman in Glenside, or Vin Art in Emmaus? Im one to go back to the dealer so want someone with good customer service. Thanks

Yesterday I went to 6 dealers in the Orange County area because I thought it would be a good time to buy. However, they seemed to be unwilling to sell their cars. I aksed about the LX AT and they would not go any lower than their newspaper price of about $18,700. Furthermore, at some dealers they were only willing to move down a few hundred dollars. There was even a dealer that had an almsot $1000 markup on all Accords! I am wondering if this is because I live in a sellers market in Socal? Also, could it because they know that people would be more inclined to go shopping on holidays so they purposely are less flexible with their pricing?

    9/1/03: $500 off invoice ($22,715) + $460 Dest + Tax + Tags + $249 Processing Fee + $69 Wheel Locks. 2.9% financing. Also, great deal on 1999 Accord EX V6 trade-in.

How far are you from Conshohocken? If you're close enough, you should try conicelli Honda in Ridge Pike, Conshohocken.

My friend bought a brand new 2000 Accord from them a few years ago, and she was very satisfied with the service so far. I also did a test drive for the Accord today, and the salesman (David Guttridge) was very curteous, not pushy at all.

I have not decided what I should buy yet.. but if you have, then you might want to act quick. Tomorrow is the last day for the 2.9% financing deal, I believe.

Not postive of what the invoice is on a '03, but got my EX 4 AT for $20,400 + TL and feel I got a good deal.

Somebody in Oragne county commented on dealers not working on price, try the internet way. Lots of dealers will deliver your car to your home or office, at least the one I bought recently at does.

If the sales staff at where you shop does not want to sell you a car at a price you want to pay, shop around, it's not like Honda dealers are hard to find. After all it's your money.
  • bshefbshef Member Posts: 3
    bought a Silver, 2003 6Cyl AT, 4 dr, leather, EX w/ mudguards and wheel locks.....Cost=$23,686+TTL (about 10%)
    Total=$25.7k
Then at finance they tried to push the ext.warranty of 7yrs/75k mile for $1600....we didn't bite....which I'm glad because the same plan with the same underwriter offers it online for $1000 (check http://www.hondaextendedwarranty.com/24.cfm)
Good experience.....the wife is happy! Now I got to line up a spoiler for her to really be happy.....anyone got any advice where I can purchase for good price?

    thanks

Bought a 2003 Accord LX with Auto from Stevens Creek Honda, with 2.9% financing. Got the color I wanted, and came very close to getting the price I had decided before entering the dealership. Had gr8 experince with the internet sales manager, but somehow got sucked into a couple of dealer options (Car alarm + Paint/Fabric Sealant protection) while closing the deal with the Finance guy, thinking that they are honda authorized options (as they were clubbed with the honda warranty etc). The cost breakdown was $17,400 (incl dest) + taxes, reg etc, but the 2 options cost an extra $1000. So total OTD was 20K. I guess I was not prepared for the options sales pitch, nor for it to come from the finance guy rather than the sales guy. But I guess I learnt my lesson ... probably paid around $500 more. Anyways, potential buyers beware of these options sales pitch by the finance guys, just before the final sigining of papers, when u think that u r done with the car buying ordeal ... especially watch out with this dealer in the bay area. Previously, I used to feel that the sales guys are scum after reading all the experiences, but I was really taken for a ride by a completely different kind of scum (the smooth finance guy, who are supposed to be paid better ... and hence r not expected to play this below the belt games) :)
  • ral2167ral2167 Member Posts: 791
seems to me you're placing too much blame on the finance guy and not enough on you... even a novice basically knows not to go for paint/fabric sealant.... i can't comment on the alarm, but $1000 just for an alarm (and the paint sealant/fabric spray) is too much, agree?

seems to me you fell in love with the car and got a bit too excited about it's purchase, prior to finalizing financing. it's just iron. am i nuts?
  • jfairclothjfaircloth Member Posts: 8
It was Honda America financing...a special rate they offer if you have a really good credit rating. We know a couple of people in the finance department of the dealership; that may have also helped.
  • carnerdcarnerd Member Posts: 3
No ... I am not blaming the finance guy completely. I am responsible for letting my guard down ... even though I did it cause I kind of trusted a finance guy, from someone who I didnt expect it. Anyways, the alarm system cost 459 + tax, while the protection stuff cost 450 + tax. I guess I fell for it, cause:
    1. I was not prepared for this options pitch.
    2. I thought they are honda options, as they were clubbed with Honda warranty.
    3. I am planning to keep the car for atleast 7-8 yrs, so thought that it would be good to have the paint/fabric protection to have the new car look for atleast the majority of the time that I keep the car. I especially was convinced cause I keep the car in the sunlight for the entire day during work (M-F).
    4. I thought that over a period of 7-8 yrs, I will surely recover a major part of the alarm system via Insurance premium savings, as also have some safety.
    5. Finally, the finance guy made the options cost very appealing, by giving me almost 40% off (his figures) as last day of month deal.

So overall, after doing some more investigation (incl endumds), I feel that I paid around $500 more than required. U r right, I didnt do enough research on the options part before buying the car (as I was never interested, and didnt think I would buy any ... I still dont understand how I did) ... I guess I concentrated too much on the car price research :)

Could someone who recently visited dealer comment on how many 03 Accord left on the lot? And how many new 04 Accord on the lot? Thanks.
  • jfairclothjfaircloth Member Posts: 8
When we purchased our '04 this past Saturday, there were several 2003 EX (4-cyl.) models with cloth seats available, but almost none with leather. We also saw quite a few LX models, as well as several of the EX-V6. But stocks seemed to be dwindling fast.

Lots of '04s available and they'll keep coming for a while...they just got their first batch last week.
  • carnerdcarnerd Member Posts: 3
In the bay area, it appears that only a couple of dealers had 2003 LX ... and most of them were either black, green or white. I was really surprised with the low inventory of this base model ... the 2 dealers who r supposed to give the best deals in the bay area (Autowest Fremont & Serramonte) didnt have any left.
But, the some of the dealers did mention that they are going to get in the next couple of weeks some more 2003s ... perhaps they are getting them from other dealers in northern california suburbs?
LX with side airbags are extremely few ... they are quoted approx 1k more than that without side airbags.
I dont know about other models.

I was offered the above mentioned car for 17,700.
Price includes Fla. sales tax, dealer fees, & tag.
The car has 13 miles on odometer. Seems like a fair deal. 2.3% financing available.
Any feedback about this deal would be great!

I'm about to purchase a 2003 Accord Coupe EX/Leather/V6. I'm getting what I think is a good quote, invoice. $23,720(ish). When I ran through some numbers to take home to sleep on I noticed their prices for alarm and VIN etching on the windows. $599 & $299 respectively!!! The car alarm brand was Magic?? Has anyone else encountered this/ have this? Is this velcro patch thing for real? If anyone's come across these options and negotiated out of it please share your story.
  • moolmanmoolman Member Posts: 129
Toneloc77, refuse to pay more than $30 for the window etch, all dealers will remove window etch fees cause it cost them almost nothing to put on the car and obviously you can get a cheaper alarm installed for less, cut the price by 75% and that should be a fair price for the alarm. Check out www.carbuyingtips.com and read the scams section.

Please don't make 2 stupid mistakes. You already got taken for the paint protection scam. You must wax your every 3 months to keep your car in OPTIMAL condition depending on the wax. The best carnuba was will not last more than 3 months out in the exposed heat and even the best polymer must be redone every 6 months.

There does not exsist anything in the world that can protect a car finish for even a year. I'm a Chemical Engineer by profession and work with chemicals. If I discovered something like this I would be a millionaire and you would see my face on a late night infomercial hawking this stuff.

Any car will look decent for 3 years without any waxing and just basic washing but in those 3 years, kiss you nice clear coat good bye and what you have left soon after that is the crappy paint you see.

Check out www.autopia.org forums for all the car care tips you would ever need.

was $100 on my EX-V6. I balked about this & did not even want it, but the dealer was not budging on the etching. what they did for me was give me and extra $100 on my trade (107.50 if you factor in the sales tax effect) and I get 15% reduction on a portion of my insurance
  • kentkmokkentkmok Member Posts: 27
The MSRP for the alarm (on Honda's website) is $195 only. Make sure you print out the "Option MSRP" from Honda's website and show it to them when they ask for $599 for an alarm. (It would be a different story if they are talking about *LoJack* which usually costs $600). My girlfriend got an Accord LX in August and had the alarm installed for $195.

Sorry to those who pay $500 for it. Didn't mean to make you feel bad but to alert others.
  • netjr1netjr1 Member Posts: 6
There are lots of alarm schemes out there. Magic is a pretty poor brand can its equipment is really cheap, KARR is a little better but they gimmick it with wierd insurance policies, and the Honda one isn't an alarm. At $195 its a keyless entry feature for cars that don't have it, and the dealers will all charge hefty installation costs. These are "options" we can buy or deny. If you buy an option you are probably giving the dealer more profit then on the car.
  • netjr1netjr1 Member Posts: 6
Saw the post about Autowest and Serramonte. They are not alone. If you get a great price like I did from San Leandro Honda by email it means they either added options or don't even have the car. I got a price of $17,288 on an LX accord from them, automatic, and so I called to make an appointment. I wanted to confirm a vin number before I drove from Salinas all the way up there - they didn't have one period. What good is a price if they don't have the car? Another dealer refused to match the price because they had the car I wanted and they know - the other dealers don't.
  • johnfor2johnfor2 Member Posts: 3
Leeak - where in Washington did you end up getting that price? I am looking for the same car now, and no seems interested in dealing - as you indicated.

Toneloc77: I just purchased a 2003 Accord EX V6 for $500 off invoice ($22,715) + $460 Dest + Tax + Tags + $249 Processing Fee + $69 Wheel Locks. 2.9% financing. Also, great deal on 1999 Accord EX V6 trade-in. The EX V6 comes with a great factory installed alarm. Why would the dealer put another alarm on it?

I just bought(8/31) a 2003 Honda Accord EX 5 speed manual transmition w/o leather. Paid $20,000 included destination charge. Got the color I wanted and offered 2.9% financing. I think I got a good deal, did anyone got it for lower price?

Johnfor2 - I live in Seattle and got my blue 03 accord EX v6 from Honda of Fife. I got pretty competitive prices from Honda of Renton, Discovery Honda, and Bob Hill Honda. Give all of them a shot also. I was disappointed to find myself paying about $1,000 more than most of the people here. When asking for $23,000, no dealer in the state of Washington was taking me seriously. I guess the demand for these fine cars here in the NW is higher than the rest of the country. Give Fife a call, talk to Chris (new car manager) and make him an offer he can't refuse. If you don't care for the XM radio (like me), then the 03 EX V6 is the cheapest EX V6 you'll find in a long time to come. Good Luck.

Just picked up a 04 Accord EX V6 for 24,712 + taxes and all the usual crap. Msrp is 26,860 on the 04's. Im happy with that, was looking for 500 over invoice and got it fairly easily after their inital offer of 25,203. Got the 7 year, 100k warranty for just a couple of hundred over what hondawarranty.com offered. Ill take that considering that the dealer I went to will reimburse the amount you paid if you dont use it. Would highly recommend Keenan Honda in Doylestown PA to anyone in that area. They treat people right and seem willing to negotioate because of the high sales volume they have. Would highly recommend my salesman Kevin Donahue to anyone as well. Fair and easy to talk to. Very happy with the purchase.

Johnfor2: If there is any trade-in involved just stating what individuals bought their new car for is meaningless. If I had agreed to a lower trade-in (closer to KBB) I could have said that I got my '03 EX V6 for $700 under invoice. But, that number is meaningless without knowing the condition and mileage of my trade-in. The bottom line is you still may be getting a great deal well above invoice if they give you more than KBB for your trade.

in DC metro area, i just bought an Accord sedan, EX-V6, 2003 model, brand new, for $23700. seem fair?
  • johnfor2johnfor2 Member Posts: 3
Well, I called as leeak did, and I found the same thing around the state. Most dealers really weren't too interested in dealing. Some even had demo cars with 2500 miles, but they were still looking for top dollar prices for these. The Wenatchee dealer was very agressive, responsive and came back with $24,100, which was not a great deal but fair. No trade in on this vehicle. He included the spoiler and tinting at cost to bring the price to $24,900 loaded with everything except navigation. Best I could tell I would have been looking at $800 more for a 2004 without the 2.9% option. Again, don't think I got a great deal, but a reasonably fair one.
