    I saw that too!

I thought - man everyone is going to be hacked off that just rushed to get 2.9% - then I saw the "gotcha" is 24 or 36 months. If you can pay off a new car these days in 24 or 36 months, you can just about pay cash for it :-)

Any news of dealer incentives like the $500/600 from last month?
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
They started it March 2 last month, but the "news" didn't hit the public until around mid-month. So if there is money on them now, I have not heard - and based on prices I have seen there may not be. Of course, the dealers have the whole month ahead of them to sell cars - so they may not get hungry again until closer to the end of the month.

Good Luck Wayne. Looks like my dealer came through . I received the Fed Ex package today. It had all the paper work for my 05 Accord EXL 4cy 4dr At with navi for 23361 plus $289 doc fee. I'll pay $210 for shipping. I'm adding mud guards, wheel well trim, pinstripes, tint, spoiler, wheel locks and trunk tray or $970. The only problem is they sent my 2.9 for the total amount of the vehicle and I was going to put some cash down to make the 60 month payments about $250.00/month. They have to redo the financing paperwork. If all goes well I should have a car this weekend. One thing that worried me was all the paperwork I received had no mention of the navi on the car. I called the dealer, he assured everything is fine. I looked up the vin on Honda.com and seem to have navi. Can any body fill me in on this?
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
The 2.9% ended on Monday, so if you want them to alter the paperwork any - be sure that they back-date the new documents and give you the promo rate.If they can't, the you are better off financing the what they have and paying your extra money each month to knock off some of the payments.

Do you have an account on Honda ownerlink already? If so log in, if not create an account (it is free).

    https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?brand=honda

Then choose "ad vehicle" and put in your VIN. If your car has NAVI it will tell you something like this:

    Honda
    2005
    Accord Sedan
    EX w/Leather & Navi 5 Speed Automatic
    Desert Mist Metallic
    Ivory

If something does not look right, then don't sign the paperwork :)

How far is the car being shipped? $210 is a cheap car shipping price.

    This was posted elsewhere:

The $0 to $600 dealer stairstep program that Honda was running on Accords and Civics last month was replaced with a new program that pays dealers $200 to $750.

Because I solicited quotes from a dealer before and after the supposed date of the rebate ending (March 29th and yesterday) and the prices have increased since then, but not by the full $500-600. They only went up by ~$200. This leads me to believe that there is some cash to dealer incentive still.

I just bought on Monday to take advantage of the 2.9% financing. I am picking the car up on Saturday. I wonder if I called the dealer, would they give me some $ off.
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
At the end of last month, the dealers knew if they had made their number to get the max incentive ($600). Now at the start of the month, I am sure most have not made it yet - so they are quoting prices based on not knowing if they will get the $750 per car or not. Once they hit their number or at the end of the month they will know the incentive for sure and can deal closer to the bottom line.

    Dennis
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
Nope. If they dated your paperwork on Monday to get the cheap rate (which is now gone) then they would have 0 interest in giving you a better deal. Why would they? You can't get 2.9% anywhere else (you signed the papers with the deal you got).

And as I posted, then dealer will not know what the incentive they will get this month until they sell some cars - so the end of the month should bring better deals (but no cheap financing for you).

I recently got 2005 Honda Accord LX for $17,200 Including Destination. and 2.9% APR best deal i could geet ... the sales person is too good..email me for dealer and slaes person name
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
I e-mailed the sales rep I was working with in the Atlanta area. I told them I already leased a car for my wife but I knew someone else in the market for an LX I4 w/AT and they quoted me:

    $17,653 (including Destination)
    384 Dealer Fees
    Sales Tax
    42 Registration

Which is LESS than they quoted me last month by $180-280.

The < 1% money factor lease is still going on, but the 2.9% / 60 month finance money is gone.

E-mail me via my profile and I will pass along the contact info.

If I had not already got my wife a car, we would be heading to Atlanta this Saturday to get one :)

Where did you get this information and is this a step program like it was for March? Is the difference from $200 to $750 based on the total number of Accords sold this month for a particular dealer?
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
car_man (who works in the auto industry) posted it in the leasing forum. Last month the step $600 was published several places - I am betting we will see this new deal published as well. I ASSUME it is a step program as well, but that was not spelled out.

Based on the price the Atlanta area dealer gave me - even cheaper than last month - they either expect or have already made their number to get the full $750.

This website and forum is just amazing! Thanks to all for your sharing.

I'm from Singapore and will be heading to the USA California this August for studies. Am looking to buy a new Accord 2.4cyl LX model Auto shortly after arrival. I will pay in cash.

I wonder if anybody here as experience with the dealers in the LA Airport region and what strategies I could use. I have sent out requests for quotes from some of the dealers whose addresses I found on several websites. So far only one of them has come back with a quote (via email) from Airport Marina Honda as quoted below.

"The 2005 Accord LX Sedan, model #CM5634PLW has an MSRP of $21,240.00 but through our Internet Department only the price would be $18,779.00 plus sales tax and DMV fees."

From what I've read, the price quoted to me doesn't sound good at all.

Hope to hear from the people here on how best I can secure a good deal. In my case I hope to be able to get the car almost as soon as I arrive in the USA because I do not want to incur additional expenditure renting a car.

I am picking up my 2005 EX V6 with Navi tomorrow, besides the car manual is there a separate manual for the navigation system? I want to make sure that I receive everything that I should.

    Thanks

Separate manual for NAV also NAV security code. Plus make sure you get the quick-start guide. Best NAV I have seen! Key thing is if you are going to use voice commands look at the specific format and the NAV will operate flawlessly :)

Also, If you have any questions, just ask . Someone on this forum probably already knows the answer and will be glad to respond.

    Good Luck,

    Hi

I am interested in a 2005 Accord VP (Value Package: DX w/ AC and AutoT). Does anyone know the Invoice pricefor this new model?

I am assuming my negotiating target price is:
invoice - 3% holdback - April $750 dealer incentive + destination fee (comments?)

    Thanks.

    Bob
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
carsdirect.com shows it as $16,715 and a pre-negotiated price for the Atlanta area of $15,765. MSRP is $18,510. These prices all include the destination fee.

Note that unlike the Civic VP this is not a distinct model - it is the DX w/auto and AC added.

Well invoice - incentive - hold back = $0 profit for the dealer, so while that may be a good goal it might not be a REALISTIC goal :)

The pre-negotiated price I posted is into the hold back - but the dealer makes $355 plus the DOC fee. That sounds pretty good to me.

    guitar,

I bought an 05 Accord LX 2.4 cyl AT about a month ago and that time the rumor about FTD incentives ($0-600) was circulating but no one was able to confirm or validate it. Anyways, I was able to buy the car for $18100 including the destination charge plus TTL . The dealer (Dobbs Honda) threw in pin stripes, mud/gravel guards and wheel locks at NO extra cost.

The price they quoted you is a little too high with all the incentives floating around. But if you are not familiar with how the auto buying process works here in the states, your best bet will be to buy from http://www.carsdirect.com/home

Put in the LA zipcode and they'll show you how much it will cost for the car. You pay them and you pickup the car at the dealership. All you do is pay the tax and doc fees at the dealership and drive off...and and there's no haggling.....

You can still negotiate with the internet/fleet manager that quoted you the price and see if they will come down on the price. Some people are buying the same car at about $1200-$1500 cheaper

    Good luck.

Call Jersey Honda (AKA Open Road) in Edison. They made me a really cheap deal on an Accord last month. Their Internet salesperson would be the one you want to talk to.

A local dealership here is offering the Accord LX 2.4L AT for $19035 and compared to the quotes posted here, it seems a bit high. He told me that it is a $1 over invoice as they are having a sale. It does not sound like much of sale to me. Can they go below invoice or what is the deal? Is the invoice higher/lower depending on how many cars the dealership buys?

I live in the DFW metroplex and want to buy an Accord LX SE (AT, I4) and the price that one of the dealerships quoted me was $19,348.92. At first I thought this was a good deal, but then after reading the other posts, it might be too high. Does anyone know of a dealership in town that will give a good price? What is the invoice on one of these?

$18,700 OTD for an Accord LX Coupe i4 AT (with no additional options) from Spirit Honda in El Monte. ;)
  • workoholicworkoholic Member Posts: 6
They totally can go below invoice. My salesman did the same song and dance about not making any cash at invoice. You just need to remind the salesmen about the hold back they receive, and that Toyota is (or was) selling 05 Camry LE's for $17,600 OTD with the Spring $1,000 cash back promo and they'll quickly stop playing games. Good luck! :)

Where are you located? It sure would make it easier if folks would put that info in their profile or at least in the post when they ask questions. All dealerships pay the same for the cars (at least for Hondas) - but there are factory to dealer quota incentives that can affect how much they make and how little they can sell the car for.

Yes they can go below invoice. Last month there was a $0-600 dealer incentive on Accords and Civic, this month there is a $200-750 incentive. If the dealer sells over their quote (varies from dealer to dealer) then they will get the max amount. Also there is a 3% hold back on the car - so that is about $630. So if you take invoice $19,034 - $750 - $630 = $17,654. So if the dealer gets the full $750 per car incentive then they could sell you this car for $18,000 (for example) and make $356.

Like I always tell people, go to carsdirect.com and put in your zip and see what no haggle price comes up in your area - for example in Atlanta this comes up $18,484. If you don't get a low price in your ZIP, try large cities within a few hour drive from home until you find a better price.

Of course, if you update your profile or tell us where you live someone in the forum may can point you in the right direction.

  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
There is no such thing as an LX SE that I know about, but a LX I4 AT that is a bad price - for the rest of the country. I put a Dallas ZIP in at carsdirect and it comes up $19,535 - so that might be a good price for your area.

It has been posted before that Holmes Honda in Shreveport, LA is selling them cheap. Someone posted that last month they got the LX I4 AT for $18,000 including destination and dealer fees. It looks like they are about 180 miles from the DFW area, so the drive would appear to be well worth if if you can get a price that low this month.

I just noticed you were looking for a coupe, the numbers for the LX coupe are similar to the LX coupe - CD is showing $19,624 for the LX coupe I4 w/AT.

Holmes does not have any coupes on ebay right now, but here is one of their ebay listings that has ended (this one is for an EX V6 coupe with leather):

I'm in Los Angeles. Looking at an LX sedan, automatic, 4 cyl. A dealer in Glendale quoted $19500+, but seemed willing to haggle from there. Carsdirect.com quotes $18,369. Can I do better than that? If so, how? (By the way, I learned about carsdirect.com on this board--thanks!)
  • gherkingherkin Member Posts: 1
My wife and I are looking for an Accord EX 4 cyl, navi, leather. I've been trying to figure what is a good price. I checked out the consumer reports website and it quotes this car (CM5675JNW) for $23,651 (includes $515 destination charge and $798 dealer holdback). I thought a good price for this car would be around $24,000 plus license fees and taxes (I've got a local dealer who will do this deal). Anyways, I just checked out the carsdirect website and it quoted me a price of $23,383 ($268 lower than what I thought was their actual price of $23,651) - How is this possible? Additional dealer incentives? Seems like I should negotiate a lower price, right?

They did confirm that a 1.9% APR (36 mos) is available from Honda Finance-
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
Yoiu might can do better by a couple of hundred, but that seems a fair price, Try going through with the deal on carsdirect and see how that works out. That should be your no-haggle price plus tax, title, and tags. That may or may not include dealer "doc" fees - but if does not I would tell them you are not going to pay the extra.

    Dennis
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
It is posted right here in this thread: Honda has variable incentives to dealers this month on Accords $200-750. Sounds like the carsidrect dealer either already has or is planning on getting the full incentive so they can discount the car.

It you figure invoice - $750 - hold back then your price probably still has them making money. They may also want to charge you the doc or dealer fee on top of that price (I don't know, you would have to go through with the quote to see).

Honda has 2.9% for up to 60 months in March, but now the 1.9% money is only good for 24 or 36 months. Most folks that can afford to pay out an Accord in 24 or 36 months, are probably not interested in owning an Accord :)

I live in Denver and I got the 2005 Accord VP for $16,717 (not including taxes) in silver. The price I paid was $1 over invoice - a special that the dealership is having. It is a very good price compared to a lot of dealerships here so I did not even bother to negotiate because this place does not charge a dealership charge and the price above includes the destination fee. I called the dealership to see if they had one in stock and I was told that they had one on order as it "DX" models are not popular but they could order one for me. I went there prepared to buy the LX if I could not order the VP w/ the special pricing. The guy did not even know that there was a VP for the Accord. He found one coming in this Monday. I asked him to put in the tinting on the house but it did not fly. I was just happy that I was able to get one and got out of there within 30 minutes. The only things that it lacks are the cruise control, power doors and locks, smaller wheels (195 vs 205), the seats are 4 ways instead of 6 ways and security system. I prefer sending $30 for a club. For what I use it for, it is sufficient. I also qualified for the 1.9% financing for 36 months. :D

If you're in the SF Bay Area, you should check out Autowest Honda in Fremont CA. About two months ago, I purchased an Accord 4cyl EX-L (without NAV)for $1,500 under invoice. No other dealer even came close to their price. Anderson Honda in Palo Alto, which advertises very aggressively, was only willing to go about $100 below invoice for the same car.
  • bklynguybklynguy Member Posts: 275
We got a quote of $ 24,495 for a 2005 Accord EX V6 with NAV at Open Road Honda (Edison, NJ)
It sounds like a good price to us :) , does anyone have experience with them ? We're not sure if we should wait for the 06 Accord since it most likely will come with VSA.
  • skykateskykate Member Posts: 14
I am looking for an identical car - can you please keep us posted. Is this including destination charge? My best offer so far was $25,260 from Route 22 Honda. I leased my 2 previous cars with them before (Civics) - always had a good experience, but of course want to get the best price :-). Tell your guy that we'll take 2 cars, ask him to bring it down to 24K : :D:D:D
  • mastromastro Member Posts: 39
Does your quote include destination and any other dealership fees? If so, I think you have a good deal going. Invoice with destination on this model is $26,471. Your deal looks good even after considering Honda's 3% holdback. Some are saying that Honda is also offering dealers an added incentive of between $200 - $700 in April, in addition to 1.9% financing for up to 36 months. You may want to hold off on a purchase until the end of month and see if the dealer will deal back more of this incentive.

FYI - I picked up an EX V6 with navigation, lid spoiler, splash guards, wheel well trim, auto rear view mirror, trunk tray liner, pin striping and protection package (undercoating, interior/exterior treatment) for $26,050 plus tax the end of March. I shopped around a lot and felt very good about the deal. The typical deal I was able to work from a number of local dealerships was around $26.8M. I live in Louisville, KY. I know that metro NY deals were running about $1,000 better than my deal...benefits of a more competitive market I guess. Good luck.

Things to consider about waiting for an '06...no one is really sure what to expect and it will be a while after the new models hit the lot that you'll be able to work as good a deal.
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
That is indeed a good price - a SUPER price if that includes the destination and dealer charges. I checked the NY ZIP code at carsdirect.com and the price came up $25,270 including destination.

I e-mailed Jersey Honda (same dealership, I think) back and forth about prices and they sure had some low ones. In the end, dealers much closer to home (for me) offered similar deals and that saved me the drive or shipping. I had seen their listings on ebay - and they seemed to have a good reputation there - but not that many cars sold.

    Hi All:

I just got back last night from picking up an 05 PZEV based - 4 door sedan - EX-L w/ Auto and NAVI from Boch Honda out of Norwood, Massachusetts. The deal went down as was discussed previously. $23,201 for the Accord including destination and the lousy $198 doc fee.

I had to pay 5% to the Massachusetts state and another 1.5% to Illinois (IL. is a 6.5% rate state but I only owe the difference) but this is a state issue, not a Honda dealership issue.

Range and FE were outstanding for the trip back from MA. to IL. 42.5 mpg home with a 789.4 mile range. The second tank has only 231 miles on it with a 48.1 mpg showing on the Trip Computer. I cannot wait to finish this tank out :-D

I just exchanged e-mails with the sales rep at Swope Honda in Louisville I was working with last month trying to get an LX for my wife. We ended up getting a car locally for close to the same price.

He had checked with me to see how it was going, I told him we had a car but if he could tell me his number this month I could pass it along to anyone interested.

$18,200 for the LX I4 w/AT including destination and dealer fees. Some of his stock has some add ons, like the rear spoiler, etc that can't be removed so these individual cars would cost a little more.

A couple of different folks here have posted recently getting good deals and good experiences at Swope - so though I didn't get my wife's car there it looks legit.

E-mail me for contract info, if you wish.

How do you get such gas mileage from an accord? Is it because it's a PZEV? Is it a hybrid of some kind? I'm new to this forum.

I just started researching prices for a new Honda Accord and going through past postings in this forum has been tremendously helpful already. I noticed that the quotes from the Carsdirect website is used frequently in this forum as a proxy or baseline to compare prices with the ones offered by other car dealers. Has anyone tried to compare prices between Carsdirect website and the ones offered through membership clubs such as Costco or Sam's Club?

I live in the San Diego area and I am leaning towards an Accord EX 4cyl. Thanks for your help.

My husband was quoted $17,869.00 (before tax and fees) for 2005 Accord LX Automatic (with no extras). The price is lower than I've seen anywhere else and I was wondering if this seems too good to be true or if there are hidden fees associated with carsdirect.com that doesn't come up until you agree to purchase the car. Thanks!
  • louise56louise56 Member Posts: 21
I'm also looking in the San Diego area and the best prices I've seen are at Poway Honda. I am tempted to buy from Autowest Honda in Fremont as their prices are quite a bit lower even though it's 450 miles away! Spirit Honda in El Monte has low prices, but Poway Honda is very close to their price. Just be sure to do all your communications via email. I'll look into Costco this week. Good luck!
