'05 Honda Accord EX 4-cyl.
3yr/36K lease
54% residual
.00112 money factor
$23665 MSRP
$20500 Selling price (estimated)
$21095 CAP cost (selling price + $595 acq. fee)
Payment = $269/mo.+ tax.. assume 8.5% tax = payment $292/mo. tax inclusive.
Due at signing = 1st pymt, sec.dep, tags/license = Approx. $800
If you can negotiate a lower selling price, subtract approx. $3/mo. for every $100 lower than $20,500... for example, if you negotiated a price of $19,500, then the payment would be about $261/mo...

You should really get a few quotes via the Internet manager from at least a couple of dealers to get a ballpark figure.
You might do even better at the end of the month - i.e. end of this week.
That's interesting. Commonwealth quoted me $24,000 for the same thing.
I took the approach of trying to get quotes from about 20 local dealers by going through the quote request process on Honda's site. About half them never responded. Some wouldn't give me anything until we talked on the phone, and some were very responsive by email, and a few of those gave me what I thought were decent prices. One slight annoyance--in my quote request I included a handful of accessories, and only a couple of the dealers included them in their original
quote, most just gave me their base price for an EX-V6 sedan.
So having spent just under a week collecting all the info, I decided to try going to a couple of local dealers to see if they'd match the best one. At the closest one, who'd never responded to my quote requests (turns out Honda thinks their Internet contact is a guy who quit two years ago and no one's checking his email. Wonder how many sales they lost?) the sales manager was stand-offish right from the start. I told him I'd collected quotes and that I thought $23,000 was reasonable for an EX-V6 sedan with my six accessories. He said I was about a grand low and that dealers offering me this must be losing money. Then he said he didn't mind if I came back for service and he walked away. Not even a counter-offer, which surprised me. Suffice it to say, I really didn't like this guy.
The next closest one, Rockingham Honda, on the other hand, had been first to respond to my quote request including accessories, and had quoted the best price. So I went up there, bluffed a little saying I'd gotten other competitive quotes and could he come down a few hundred. The sales manager was very nice but explained that they don't screw around. When you ask for their best price they give it to you and he couldn't even come down $1. It's the philosophy from the owner. He'd missed including the cargo net I'd requested so I said if he included that for the same price I'd take it. It was nice being treated like a person and not an annoyance. Here's how it priced out:
Accord EX-V6 sedan with all the usual (leather, moonroof, XM, automatic, etc.), auto-dimming mirror, all-season mats, trunk tray, cargo net, splash guards, and wheel locks: $23,306, which includes the $515 destination charge. I still have to pay Mass 5% sales tax. Edmunds TMV is $24,313 without the accessories, so I'm pretty happy.

I should say so! I bought some of those same accessories from H & A and installed them myself. I'd say you did pretty good there.
What's funny is that Rockingham never responded to my request for quote so I'll never know if I could have gotten a better deal from them.
My Internet experience matches yours very closely. I'm amazed at how dealers seem to neglect people who shop this way. If I were a dealer I'd want to make these quick sales and turn over my inventory. The two times I've purchased from a dealer using the Internet first, I've spent more time at the dealership because of the games they want to play than because I'm indecisive. "You've got what I want at that price? OK, here's some money I'll pick up the car next week." But no; they make you deal with the accessory salesman, then wait for the finance person. Sheesh!
Also, I didn't sign the PSA until they filled out EVERY line. So they don't try to fiddle with the numbers.
Please explain
the best quote i got so far is 24578 OTD w/ wheel locks, mudguard, trunktray, pin thing, w/ 5% tax MD, fees and all the things. He also offered me free lifetime oil change, and 300$ store credit to buy anything. But is that really a good deal, if no one stops me, i will buy this car in 18 hours?
Don't get suckered in on bogus things at the last minute.
I live in Maryland and looking for a accord, 6cyl with nav and leather. I have one quote of 24,750. (No fees or taxes added). Any thoughts?

That's right, it is called business and always remember - The dealer will agree to a deaI ONLY if it makes good business sense to them - period.
Just a quick ? What dealers are you talking with and in your experience what one did you feel was most responsive.
Thanks dog. (just kidding)
I bought an '05 Accord EX v6 4-door with leather (no nav) in May and the agreed upon price was $23,600. Since have helped a friend and got a $23,100 quote in July. My car did not have some of the trimmings you got (splash guards, cargo net). So I'd say you got a very good deal. I worked with Bernardi Honda in Natick, MA and they were good to deal with and did most negotiating via email.
Mike
I bought a car this year and several dealers I visited exhibited extremely poor behavior, using very unprofessional and dishonest tactics to try to enter in to a deal with me. Maybe someday the environemnt will level out with all of the information that is out there and force almost ALL dealers to behave like real professionals. They will make money and benefit from deals they agree to and consumers will as well. The dealer I finally worked with was very professional and good to work with so I'm not making a blanket statement here about all dealerships being terrrible; some are, some aren't.
I also do not have any gripe with a delaer who wants to make a profit and I try to keep that in mind when I deal with them (or any business for that matter). All I want is to get 1) accurate and transparnet information from them; 2) professional service and behavior; and 3) a FAIR price that is mutually beneficial. At no time do I expect or want them to enter in to a deal with me that they do not think is fair. In a competitive marketplace the tipping point for one dealer may be differrent than another so deals will vary across businesses. But, in the end, there is certainly a price level that no one can go below. Some choose to get closer to it than others to drive volume; others simply choose not to go very low in order to maintain certain profit margins. I have NO ISSUE with that whatsoever. It is simply the behavior and tactics exhibited by many dealers around the whole deal that have soured the experience so much. I will stop rambling now.
My 2 cents . . .

That was a great deal. I bought the same car back in March 05 when the FTD money was $600 and I paid $18100 including destination.
Enjoy....
I was quoted $21,000 (including destination but pretax) for an accord coupe EX-L. What do you guys think?
Thanks.
Is this a good price or can I do better?
Help please!!!!
Recently I got this price for Accord 2005 DX, automatic, + value package(air condition).
How is this quote? higher? I am in San Diego, CA.
Any suggestion are welcome.
Remember i said in the recent post?
"The car i am trying to get is a 2005 Accord V6 EX w/o nav
the best quote i got so far is 24578 OTD w/ wheel locks, mudguard, trunktray, pin thing, w/ 5% tax MD, fees and all the things. He also offered me free lifetime oil change, and 300$ store credit to buy anything. But is that really a good deal, if no one stops me, i will buy this car in 18 hours?"
It was a guy that offered me from Sport Honda in Maryland. I went bak there today, and he refused all the things he said before. his desk is at the far right corner next to the door, and you need to beware of him. cuz he acts extremely friendly, but he's an old wolf. Ok, i asked him if he remember the car i want, he said no. At first, i didn't say anything, i just asked him to get me a OTD price, but this time he comes back w/ 24808$OTD w/ only life time oil change. I asked him what happened to the 300$ store credits, he said "what store credits?" i replied "The 300$ store credits you said you will give it to me if i buy the car" he answered "I never said it, nonono, i never said it" then i explained to my mom, and my mom and my aunt even don't spoken that well of English understood and still remember what he said. So he gave me all the trash "maybe i said the 300$ is the options that's included in the car" , and the OTD 24808 wasn't the price he gave me b4. I asked him "what happened to the old deal, shouldn't be the price goes down?" he said "You should have brought the paper, (he never gave me a paper)We have no more car, so the price went up, you should have bought it before" I really was going to buy it from them, but not anymore, he just shut the money door to himself. so i asked him one final time "you can't really go bak to that price" he went to the manager for like 15 min, and came back w/ a Ccapital One "NO". so i said "sorry for wasting your time" and walked out
So, i went to Herson's Honda at Rockville Maryland. Which I got my old 02 LX Accord from the same saleman but he was working in Sport Honda before. So I walked in and said "To be honest, give me the possible OTD price for the V6 EX that i am willing to pay for" then he didn't even have to go to the manager and said "24300OTD" so my family agreed and i also agreed, but he said "We do'nt have the color you want in our stock, we need to trade w/ other dealer but first let me check" we wait and waited, wait, wait wait, then he comes back "We found ur color but we don't have the car that they want, do you mind if it's drove down from other state and will get here around 100 miles on it" my mom said "no, there's so many dealers around his area" my mom said, "he must doing so trick on us" then we wait, wait and wait. Oh by the way, there's a same color car that i wanted, but it has a Spoiler on and he said it will be 24800, so i said 24500 OTD, then we walked in and come out w/ YES, so I test drive and look, pointing out every problem it has, and they fixed it all, and we are happy and the deal is happy AT THE MOMENT. finally we went intothe Finance Office, where's the major second "rip off-er" you must face, she keeps smile and talkative, and she explained all the plans they have, and cross number (discount) in front of my face, cross and cross, cross and cross, and then i said "i just wanna know what's the APR and she said "since you pay off ur last car in less than 2 years and ur interest rate was high, now it's just 6.96" my heart (OMG VERY LOW, SIKE), luckyly i did my homework and already got approved a car loan from CAPITAL ONE though Costco Warehouse w/ only 5.15, then i smile and said "well i got a approved loan already w/ lower than urs" then i gave her my check, she said "you know Captial One may not approve ur loan" and i gave her my loan packet and she read the entire thing for 30 seconds and said "do you mind if i can make a photo copy" 2 min later, well i don't know if i can get that low, the lowest i can get to is 5.99%, so i said then i will use this captial one approved loan, then she typed and type, and said "well don't kiss me"she wrote down 4.89%.
So, i got the car home but the only thing i am still thinking of is the Extended Service I got, it costs 1550, 7 yrs/100k miles, but it's refundable if u never use it, they says it covers Engine, transmission, front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, steering, front suspension, brakes, seals and gaskets, electrical, air conditioning, additional components. and i can cancel it within 60 days. so i dunno what to do.
See? when you buy a car, ppl from dealer will just try to drink all the juice off from ur juicy body, you better watch out, and do all the homeworks.
oh well i am not going to prove read what i typed, too happy right now.
My final question is, is it really nessary to buy the Extended Service?
Who here bought it? most people bought it? anyone? any comment?
tax 1157
reg & tag 175+20 = 190
Total: 24,500
Extended Service 1,550
Real Total is 26,050
Extended Warrenty can be refunded after the coverage is cover and if u never used it. i got 7yrs/100k
Anyone think i should cancel the Extended Service?
Anyone think i should cancel the Extended Service?
Extended warranty is obviously a personal choice. Some people have it for peace of mind. I personally don't have it as the Accords are usually very reliable. It's like an insurance policy, though. However, if you decide to keep the extended warranty, based on past posts in this forum you could probably do better by a few hundred bucks. So, you may want to cancel and sign up with a different provider. Before you cancel, though, get all the information you need first. There is a separate discussion topic under "Honda Extended Warranties: Pricing and Info" that has all the information you need as well as how to get it cheaper than your local dealer. Good luck.
bajangal, 16999 is waaaay too much. actual invoice on the DX VP is probably ~ $15200 to 15500.
allsingular, u r there, but if u r the frugal type, go for broke!
ppl, don't let slimey, unctuous dealers play w/ you.
service? if i want service i'll go to the 4 seasons. This is a Honda not a Yugo. Just give me the best price, period.
In my case last May 2nd, the best "email quote" I received was from Fremont AutoWest, CA (approx. 15 miles one-way across the SF Bay from me) for the model:
2005 Honda Accord EX-L 4 cyl. PZEV** AT EXL Sedan
MSRP: $25,265 (w/$515 Destination)
Dealer's INV.. $22,271
DEST............. $515
-----------------------------
Total......... $22,786.00**
**NOTE: All California Honda 4 cyl. = PZEV certified - Invoice costs above from Edmunds.com
==================================
... was $21,068.00 w/$515 Dest.
My next phone/email quote from Anderson Honda of Palo Alto, CA (5 miles from me), ... BEAT that by ...
$100.00 (i.e. $20,968.00 or $1,800 Under Invoice
I bought it on the 4th, ... and since they sold ALL their 2005 Honda Accord EXL 4 cyl. PZEV** AT EXL Sedan by May 1st
So, excellent quote since your starting price is within $14 from my May 2nd quote!!!
Have fun spending your hard earned cash, ... looks like you're getting a great deal!!! (like I did!!!

I have been looking for Accord LX 4DR Auto. So far no dealer in orlando is able to match the price I have seen in this forum. I'm expecting to pay around $18700 with old tag. But best quote I got is around $19500. what kind of quote did you get from Tampa dealers. I will drive to Tampa or Lakeland if I get good price. I called Regal honda and their price is $18500 +dealer fee+TTL.
Please let me know.
Thank you.
Thanks,
-Bill
If you care about all the extras like cruise control, etc. then the DX isn't the car for you. Otherwise it's a great car.
