When will dealerships have 2006 model coupes on their lots?

There were about 20 of the 2005 G35 coupe and about 10 or so 2006 G35 coupe at dealer in Charlotte, NC today.

All the 2006 model year were hiden in the back of the lot. Looks like the cost of navi went down $200 from last year but the cost of required premium package went up $400 for bluetooth. Cost of Aero package w/sploiler went down. I like the new spoiler better anyway.

I think I will still hold off for the IS250 with manual trans, sport package, and navi. Comes to about the same price as a G35 6MT coupe would cost me and with a much better navi with voice activation and touch screen instead of that hard to use joystick. Not as much power but better mpg and a nicer interior IMHO. Still need to drive all of them and sell my other cars first anyway.

purchased a 2006 G35 Coupe 6MT, with Nav, Aero, Prem Package, Splash guards, MSRP 39,700...Got it for a reasonable price of 37,500. Probably could have haggled more but figured it was a descent price. Walked away from a few other car deals in the past month due to obnoxious sales people wanting to sell at or above MSRP...., Looked at the SLK350, CLK500 and Mustang GT. Think I made the right choice given the price, performance of the others.

I am in South Florida looking to get an 06 G35 Coupe 6MT fully loaded with navi, aero, prem. pack., and whatever else it comes with. Any local south Florida people buy one recently? If so, at what price? What is the invoice for this car? Thanks for the help.

Infiniti dealers have too many 2005 G35's and need to unload them. The 2006's are here and G35's can be had below invoice with a friend in Chicago getting his G35 (sedan) at 1000.00 below invoice. How much "better" is the 2006 model?

    Hello All,
I have read many articles re: leasing vs. "buying" and almost all say buying is best unless you can you have your own business and can depreciate the vehicle. Is there any data out there to prove otherwise?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 262,213
mevande.. blanket statements about leasing vs. buying almost always leave a lot out.. Many times, leasing can be advantageous to buying (many, not most), but it takes the right set of circumstances..

Factors that may make a lease preferable..

    1) The manufacturer has a special lease program with below-market money factors, or pumped-up residuals.

    2) You definitely like to trade cars every three years.

    3) The mileage restrictions on the lease match your driving habits.

    4) You expect your driving needs to remain stable for the entire lease term.

Data? Well, every deal is different.. The numbers are fairly easy to crunch, but they vary with each car.. and lease deals change from month-to-month..

There is a corresponding list on why you should buy, instead of lease.. Pretty much the opposite of the list above.. ;)

    regards,

in new york, a dealer told me that he had 5 g35 coupes left,
    3 automatic.

i inquired about an athens blue model with premium package.

he started at $425 for 12,000 miles on the lease,
but i snuck him down to $399 for 15,000 per year.

up front taxes and bank fees are roughly $2,000.

    how's that?
  • kki000kki000 Member Posts: 17
If you can get your hands on an 05, there are some teriffic deals out there, esp for leases. 58% residual and .00113 mf is awesome when combined with 1000-1500 below invoice.

Keep in mind though that if you are looking at navigation packages, there are some improvements on the 06 model. Whether or not those changes are wotrhwhile is up to you.

06 has better navigation, still not touch screen but substantially improved as far as reponsiveness, screen clarity and funtionality. Blue tooth is a great new feature that is essentially free on the premium packages for the sedans.

Any experience with this car? Does the rear wheel drive, sometimes all wheel drive really work in bad conditions?

Current offers seem to be $1,500 below sticker.

Also looking at Volvo S60 /40 AWD turbo. Any thoughts about the comparison?
  • mnrep2mnrep2 Member Posts: 200
I came from a fwd passat to the G35x this year. In driving in winter (Minnesota) last year, I loved the AWD. Helps greatly starting out at intersections, going up hills, left turns on slippery roads, you get the idea.

The mostly RWD drive bias of the Infiniti system makes the car a joy to drive on dry roads as well. Did not consider the Volvo, I'm not a big fan of GM and its products. Don't think that Volvo has a great reputation for reliability. I am so far, very happy with the G35x. 2cents ;)

What about driving performance? We live in a hilly area of NJ. Snow and ice are a big headache. That's why we are looking at AWD cars. This one is for my wife (I have an Acura RL - AWD)

Any data about safety and long term reliability? (I previously had an Audi A6. It was great until it started sucking up money in the 4th year).

    Thanks for any advice
  • mnrep2mnrep2 Member Posts: 200
I thought I commented on the driving characteristics in snow... With 280 HP, the car is very quick in normal driving. Not as smooth as the Acura but much better handling. This is a smaller, rwd biased AWD, performance car. You and your wife need to drive it to see if it is your cup of tea. Mostly anecdotal references say this is a very safe car, and reliability is above average from what I have researched. It should be a great long term car ( more than 5 years of ownership ).

If anyone can give me a recent price relative to invoice for either the 05 or 06 in the NY metropolitan area I would appreciate it. Edmonds target price is the MSRP, which is not too helpful.
  • reb124reb124 Member Posts: 6
I am getting quotes (Northern NJ) for the G35X with Premium C, wood, etc.

The MSRP is $37,700. Offers from various dealers are $35-35,500. So approx. $2,500 off of list.

Currently, Infiniti is giving $1000 to dealers and offering 1.99%/36 months for 2005 G35 in Chicago area until 11/31/05. My question is will the offers continue and/or get better in December and January, 2006?

I'm not in an immediate hurry to purchase so I can wait if I can get a better deal in a couple of months.

Thanks for any replies in advance.

    I bought a 2006 G35 Coupe 6M October 29 in Houston, TX

    Exterior: Diamond Graphite
Interior: Graphite Leather, Premium Pkg, Aero Pkg, Splash Guards.

    The MSRP was $37,800

    Just leased a 06 g35x, prem and nav, 35,732(invoice) as the sale price .00216 MF, 59% residual 39months, 12k/yr. msrp was ~39050
    Kings infiniti in brooklyn.

Should be able to get at least invoice for an 06 if you shop around a bit. Atlantic infiniti was around the same price as well.

On 05's you should be getting at least 1000 below invoice, ive had one offer for 1500 under.

I believe this only holds true for metro areas, when i called for dealer oustide of the city, the prices were all higher. Harte in CT wanted 500 OVER invoice on an 05, with a 300 doc fee.

Kings Infiniti was great, my salesman was very old school, didnt want to tell me MF and residuals and what not, but stuck to the mothly price we had negotiated on the phone. When i got to the business mgr, he was straight up with the numbers and no pressure for add ons. They were both very honest and nice.

I am looking to buy a G35 sedan/auto w/Premium C pkg, XM radio probably around Thanksgiving, will have $10k to put down (no trade-in)... KBB invoice is 32720, MSRP 35760, and KBB New Car value is 34687. Do you think 34k would be a decent offer for this?

I am currently dealing with Sewell Infiniti in Dallas - has been a nice experience so far, and will probably take them up on an offer for an extended test drive later this week. I test drove an Acura TL on Saturday right after driving a G35 and was pretty impressed by the TL's power and smooth shifting, which is why I wanted to try the G35 again, because I never really pushed it hard (hard to do in 40mph zones).

    Cheers,

there is no way any dealer will give you 1500 off invoice a g35X. I can see that for the rear drive only version, as there is a 1000 buck incentive. In any case i see only a handfull of 2005x's left - most have 2006 now

I got the following from a dealer in NJ.

    What you guys think?

On a 2005 G35 Coupe with Premium package
    MSRP $36100.
    Buy for $33155.

On a 2005 G35 Coupe with Premium, Aero, and 19" wheels
    MSRP $38650.
    Buy for $35353.

ALso anyone know what exactly tha packages are for the /'05? I hear various terms like wood and such thrown ou there. THe infiniti site has '06 which is a bit different I believe.

i live in chicago. I would rather drive the faster 6mt, but will the car drive horrible in the snow/rain
  • mnrep2mnrep2 Member Posts: 200
The X is the ultimate all weather warrior. I just bought the X in July 05, however I did several test drives during winter 2005. This convinced me of the sweetness of the AWD. This summer the RWD bias of the G has been just as sweet. The auto trans. does offer rev matching when you go to manual overide on downshifts. In Chicago traffic the auto is less tiring to drive ;)

You have to decide manual or AWD sure-footed performance.

    p22,
I bot an '05 G35 sedan last week from Grubbs in Dallas.

Premium C pkg, auto, 35180 MSRP, 31230 purchase price.
I approached them via email and their starting price was 31800.

I was shooting for buying "probably around thanksgiving" too...and figured 11/1 was close enough :) My wifes very happy.

Have you considered saving your 10K down payment, parking that money in a MM account @ 4%, and financing the car through infiniti for 36 months at 1.99%?

Pilgrim22, I was at Sewell Infiniti today driving the '05 G35 Coupe. I'm also wanting to look at the TSX and TL and am curious to know how the 3 compare, in your opinion. Have you looked at anything else?

    My luck day. http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/12h/www.edmunds.com/media/townhall/webxicons/emotorcons- /emo_smiley.gif

5AT sedan w/sunroof. Wheat interior. With my savings I added spoiler, extended warranty to 70k, LoJack. Salesman said the Garnet Fire was an 'unpopular color' here. Just the color I was looking for after seeing so many silvers, whites, etc. :):)
  • pilgrim22pilgrim22 Member Posts: 5
I haven't driven the G35 coupe, but I am very impressed by the sedan. Sewell let me take one for an extended test drive (where I had a demo car for 24 hours), and I fell in love with it in that time. I found it very responsive (especially for an automatic), it had lots of power, the interior was very nice and the Bose stereo (included in premium pkg) sounded great.

I only test-drove the TL at McDavid's in Plano for a few minutes. But I was impressed by its power and smooth shifting (the reasons why I wanted to try the G35 again), but we (my wife and I) were not as impressed with its interior - there were a few small things that we didn't like , which were not a problem in the G35. It's often the small things that make a difference.

Don't get me wrong - the TL is a fine car, and a great value with almost all the extras already included in its price. But we feel the G35 is a better car, and worth the extra $ - it has more power (at the cost of fuel efficiency), feels nicer inside, rides nicely and is very sure-footed on the road. Basically my wife and I could think of nothing we did not like about the G35, and several things about the TL.

I have not tried the Acura TSX.

Also a note about the dealership experiences - we are finding the Sewell dealership, and our salesman in particular, to be friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, but I fear they may not be willing to come down much on the price from MSRP. But they do offer tremendous after-sales service (e.g. free loaner cars for servicing appoinments), and everyone else there is very courteous. In contrast, we were not at all impressed by the McDavid's dealership, and the salesman "assigned" to us, so we will not be buying a car from them.

It all depends on how you like each car yourself - the extended test drive made my mind up, although we were already leaning heavily towards it anyway. So I highly recommend you try each car for a longer period, if you can, and see which one fits you best.

Cheers, and apologies if you found this response a little long-winded... :)

Hey bubears, thanks for the interesting idea about keeping the 10k for a while and the low-rate financing... it planted a seed, but isn't this offer only for the remaining 05's? Sewell has very few 05s left, which is why I was looking more at buying an 06. Although the leasing option is looking increasingly attractive (I assume you were talking about a lease?).

I am going to contact Grubbs to see what sort of price they can give me (or will take) for an 06 - should I make an offer to them first, or let them come to me with a price first? Sounds like you got a good deal, something below invoice (probably, don't know the exact numbers). Only problem with Grubbs for me is that they're not at all convenient to me - live in Carrollton, work near Love Field, hence the dealing with Sewell's, and i hate driving on Hwy 183.

    Cheers,

I just left a deposit on a 06 G35 Sedan, Auto, Premium C and Nav. They are the only local dealer who is able to obtain the car I want, Ivory/Stone Premium and Nav.MSRP was $37,370 and I am paying $35,183 exactly $1,000 over invoice. The car is not yet in and I am getting a good price on my 02 325I which will give me an additional $1,000 for sales tax savings. I live in Boca Raton Fl and most dealers don't want to discount too much on the 06s because of all the 05s they still have.If I wait a few more months, I'm sure I might save some more on the G but my BMW will also drop in price. I tried for $500 over invoice but no luck. What do you guys think?

I just purchased a 2005 G35 Sedan RWD with A/T and Premium C package for $30,512 from Infiniti of Pleasanton (CA). MSRP was $35,110. They have lots of 2005 models left. Mine was still wrapped in plastic with 7 miles on the odometer. Infiniti is still providing 1.99% financing and $1250 cash back to the dealer as incentives. Now is the time to buy.
  • gnightgnight Member Posts: 6
Out the door was right about $33K. Taxes of 7.25%, license fees of $319 and doc fee of $45. I am sure they have manual transmissions available. Pleasanton stocked up on 2005 models before the change over so they have an entire back lot filled with 2005s still wrapped in plastic. Give them a call. Chris Anderson was the internet manager I dealt with. I bid several dealers over the net and they were by far the lowest and the purchase experience was no hassle.
  • harrybush00harrybush00 Member Posts: 76
wow yet another great deal in the bay area. This makes me more optimistic that come next year I'll be able to just squeak an '06 G35 under my budget. I'm also surprised that you found a coupe 6MT as well -- definitely good to know the coupes aren't hovering near MSRP like they seem to be on carsdirect.com.

Two months ago I leased a 2005 Automatic Coupe (black on black) w/ premium pkg from one of the many South Florida dealers. ($424 per month before tax w/ 12k miles per year over 42 months.)
Flooding from hurricane Wilma submerged it in sea water. :( Needless to say, it is a total loss and I'm very thankful I put no money out of pocket aside from inceptions. (Good advice CarMan.)
Because Infiniti has pseudoGap insurance, they said they'll accept whatever settlement amount my car insurance company gets to and expunge my lease.
I'd like to get the same exact car: 2005 Automatic Coupe, black on black, premium pkg, splash guards.

If you have a moment, please provide the residuals and money factors for this car (w/ 12k miles per year) over 24, 36, 39, and 42 months.

Also, I read something about $1k cash to dealers. Will this apply to coupe leases too? Should I fight for a cap cost of invoice minus $1k?

    Thanks,

    Mitch

Just bought a 2005 G35 Sedan 6MT Prem A Black/Black for about $30200 before taxes/fees last week. Came out to $33200 out the door with 8.5% taxes and fees. Started negotiating at $34500 out the door. Invoice was $31670.

Vehicle was purchased from Serramonte Infiniti, just south of San Francisco. I probably could've gotten a few hundred more off, but I've been running dealerships for a week and was tired. Not to mention gas prices are killer.

Purchase experience was average all around, though I didn't get a full tank of gas out the door (forgot to check). Before you go in any dealership, have phone quotes from every close dealership on hand, with Edmunds/KBB invoice and TMV printout. Then make them beat the lowest dealer price by at least a few hundred. Repeat at other dealers. Never reveal how low you are willing to go.

Infiniti at Redwood City offered a similarly configured coupe for $1200 below invoice.

Found out next day the Seek button on the stereo sticks when pressed. Made an appointment and fixed today, no problems. Got a free carwash. Finding that shifting from 1 to 2 is less than smooth with a loud metal clicking sound from time to time. Will bring that in if it gets worse. Seems that quite a bunch of 6MT G35s have transmission problems.

The vehicle has been a blast to drive, especially switching from an SUV. Cornering instills absolute confidence, if just short of perfection. Torque is overwhelming, enough that if you shift a tad later than normal, you'll easily blow by the speed limit. Though I do miss the Grand Canyon storage compartments of the SUV.

Replying to my own message (first sign of insanity???), here's my pricing so far from 3 dealers in DFW area, 06 sedan, a/t, prem C, splash guards, XM radio, diamond graphite/stone/aluminum trim:

MSRP 36200 (or in region of)

    - Sewell won't come down much below 35000 even, but dealing with them face-to-face, friendly, helpful service, very convenient to where I work. Only has white 05s left (if any). The current favorite, despite the higher price.
    - Crest in Plano is offering 34650 (roughly) - MSRP was 36803 with tint & stripe (600 extra????), discounted to 35300, split difference with offer of 34000. So far the best deal, not sure about the tint&stripe costing extra, internet sales guy seems to think I now want a sand color (poor attention to detail).
    - So far no response from Grubbs after an initial inquiry last Saturday (5 days ago). They snooze, they lose. Inconveniently located in mid-cities.

Just curious about the tint & stripe - is this standard on all G35s but NOT included in the MSRPs? What if I didn't want it?

    Cheers,

Dealer was Infiniti of Serramonte in the CA Bay Area. I paid Invoice + $500 + CA registration (~$300) + sales tax for the 2006 G35 AT graphite/stone + pkg C + nav. No trade. Didn't buy any dealer add-ons nor did I take the dealer financing.

He offered 2005 G35 for < invoice, but I declined. Used the Costco buying service. Whole thing took less than 2 hours.
  • lmmlmm Member Posts: 70
    what was your invoice price?

Glad to see a lot of DWF folks here I was actually at Crest myself on Monday and the saleman while nice, young, and very friendly would not come down more than $1,600 under sticker price.

I personally like the G35 but refuse to pay those insane prices. He kept offering me good finacing but I could care less I am paying cash for the car I am writing him a check and that is the best he can do?

I will try Grubbs but considering I am pay CASH no trade in no APR hassle I deserve the sticker price $35,500 G35 for $31,500 max.
  • intenceintence Member Posts: 32
I would suggest giving Grubbs a try. I went to Sewell and wasn't impressed, service was great, but after briefly discussing pricing (this was in Sept or Oct) they made it sound like i'd have to get a demo to get invoice - incentives on an '05.

I haven't tried Grubbs yet, but anyone considering the G35 should also consider that a new version may be out next year this time as a 2007 model. Just something to consider.

Today i went in to the roseville infinti, and they were offering me invoice plus $700 bucks for '06 coupe with navi and 18's. I originally was looking for an 05, but the salesman told me he could get me the 06 for $500 more. Is this a good deal? Tryin to decide between a black on black or diamond graphite.

Call Infiniti of Pleasanton. It's not far from Sacramento and my wife just got a screaming deal on an 06 Coupe. She paid $400 over invoice for a Premium Sport with Automatic. Nice car...now if I could only get the keys away from her.
