I got a 2005 MDX with touring and navigation for $36750 plus tax and dmv fees last weekend in South California.

    Hope this helps!

Is that $40K an Out-The-Door quote?

    Try Pohanka Acura in Chantilly,VA.
  • mlock6mlock6 Member Posts: 22
No it's not. I was going to ask for 38,500.It has every option you can get outside of accessories. Should I ask for more?

I would definitely ask (or better yet, "offer") a lower price. You should really inquire with Pohanka Acura as they are a high volume dealer and their quote can, most likely, beat the quote you got from your Md dealership.

    Good Luck!

Can you tell where you purchased your MDX?

    Thank you

A good story and a bad one...

Tried to buy an MDX from Goodson in Irving, TX. Got every tactic in the book thrown at me - lies, bait&switch, the old "this is the only one in the country" line, aggression ...etc. Why I let it go that far, I don't know. Anyways - rude pricing manager, terrible experience.

So, I read up this forum, pick up the phone and call David McDavid. Told them the car and price I wanted. Got it.

MDX 189 (touring w/ navi and dvd player) in Pearl White. Paid $42.5k incl. TTL. Added bodyside moulding, window tinting, all weather mats, wood trim for dash, satin side boards for a grand total of $43.5.

Could you please tell where did you get this offer? I was offered $33,500 here in Houston.
  • sri1sri1 Member Posts: 23
It was Davis Acura in Langhorne, PA.
  • hsuehhwahsuehhwa Member Posts: 14
I bought it on 9/25 (Sunday) from Cerritos Acura, CA.
It’s a metallic blue with Touring + Navigation. (Only Two touring/navi metallic blues and one basic Burgundy left)
I was there on 9/19 too, and they definitely sold a lot of cars in a week.
  • jgghjggh Member Posts: 9
Has anybody got a good deal in TX ? I was offered $33,300. Is this a good deal?
  • a1mdxa1mdx Member Posts: 1
Actually That's not true. You just get a single CD player with premium. And that's the only thing that you get in premium. This is what you have in touring and *not* in premium:

    - Roof rack
    - Remote entry system with driver-recognition memory settings for driver's seat and outside mirror
    - Speed- and rain-sensing, intermittent wipers
    - Driver's 8-way power seat with power-adjustable lumbar support
    - Front passenger's 8-way power seat
    - Acura/Bose® Sound System with AM/FM stereo, 6-disc in-dash CD changer and 8 speakers with 10" subwoofer
    - HandsFreeLink™ with Bluetooth®

I am seriously thinking about touring now. Do we have sliding second rows in any model of mdx? I read somewhere that mdx second row is not sliding one and its harder to use third row? Can a person in third row get in and out from both sides?
    Thanks.
  • sri1sri1 Member Posts: 23
Roof rack costs $135 and bose around $1000 i.e. $1135 and does other things justify for $1500? I guess if the difference between Primium and Touring should not be more than $2000. That is just me. Don't shoot me.

    Thanks

Okay...I finally made the plunge and purchased a '05 MDX Touring with Nav. in central California.

Total price (before tax, $35 doc fee, and dmv fee) $40,216 That included

    $37,400 Vehicle
    $1,125 Towing Package (installed)
$725 Chrome Wheels w\wheel locks (installed)
$750 Shiny Chrome Side Steps (installed)
$125 All-weather mats and cargo tray
$91 Allen Deluxe 4 bike carrier.

I had the ability to receive the tow package, and side steps for about $400 less but would have had to install myself. I preferred to pay the $400 for dealer installation (approx. 4-6 hours). I also could have gotten the vehicle for $300 cheaper but wanted it brought to me on a flat bed rather than driven. I decided to use an auto broker in central California...because he was the only one that gave me a fair trade value on my other car. All in all, I am pleased with the deal. Will have to wait until Friday to take delivery (which feels like a year from now) but should be worth the wait. Thanks for all of the good info that has been provided in here.

Purchased a '05 MDX Touring with DVD in CHICAGO FOR $35800 + TAX. It had side mouldings, roof rack, all season mats etc. I got 5.9% intrest rate for 5 years by Honda but I plan to pay it off in next few months. I guess it is a good deal. I was also offered a MDX key chain. They would not give anything else though I threatened not to buy. Amazingly great SUV. I love it, and it flys. Hope this helps somebody. I tried all over IL for deals and amazingly most of the places, things are selling off like hot cake. I talked to General Manager and he told me there is absolutely not much difference from 2005 to 2006 model.

Could you list the options (or options codes)? Sounds like what I want, and I am in central Texas.

Thrill29, thats a really good deal! Which dealer in Chicago did you go to?
  • thrill29thrill29 Member Posts: 3
McGrath Acura of morton groove. I doubt you will get the same deal. I bought Desert rock color and that was the only one they were willing to give for this price and no more were left. They have lot of premium silver and black and may give it cheap.

Got deal for 05 MDX model 189 from Pohanka Acura in Chantilly,VA. However their deal fee was given as around 400 bucks, is this reasonable? 'coz I saw it's around 40 bucks here as Doc fee, am I right?

Drove the truck home yesterday for $32,400 + Tax / Title / Registration.

Today I agreed to buy the Acura MDX base model for 32116 + 1120( Roof rack ,cargo mat & Running Boards) in Atlanta Area . OTD the proce is 36K even.

I rececived several emails from dealers but nothing less than 37K . I think I got a decent deal.

Is the all-season Floor mats worth $120 ??

    Thanks
  • kaptiv8kaptiv8 Member Posts: 2
I think so...considering I just lost about $800 selling my Lexus ES330 due to the carpets/floors being stained from mud, rain, and kids. I got them on my MDX and am glad I did. If you have kids they DEFINATELY provide piece of mind.

We're ready to buy (or perhaps lease) an '05 MDX with touring only. A quick stop at a dealer the other day (no negotiating) resulted in a $38,000 price. Given what I've seen here, this is quite a bit too high. Indeed, looks to me like some buyers are getting the '05's below dealer invoice less holdback. So...what's a good price to look for? We have some thoughts on color, but are flexible. Live in Central VA, by the way.

    Thanks.
  • thrill29thrill29 Member Posts: 3
That is a very high price. I payed $35800 for Touring with RES in Chicago. It is difficult to get that deal but you can easily get just a Touring for $35500 + Tax.

I would just like to mention our horrible buying experience at Mike Harvey Acura in Burlingame. They offered to match a price from 2 dealerships, and due to time constraints and distance, we decided to buy from them, but the overall experience was poor. In retrospect, we should have not completed the transaction out of principle. Most of the communication was through email. they agreed to match a price from two dealerships 36800 before tax licensing registration, etc. on a silver/quartz touring w/navigation in September. We agreed on a Thursday, they stated they would have it ready, detailed, etc on Friday. I specifically requested that the car was recently delivered from the factory otherwise we would not buy it. We walk into the dealership to see the car on the showroom floor, and asked the internet saleswoman if that was our car. She said, "yes, we bring all our cars that people purchase into the showroom." It had not been detailed, if it had, there were fingerprints all over the windows, smudges on the paint, etc as if it had been sitting in the showroom for at least a few days. After most of the paperwork was completed, she continued to pull the car out of the showroom. She came back in to complete some of the paperwork, and later went outside to gas up the car (all of this should have been done before we got there), and as she tried to start the car, the battery died. they had to jump start the car to get it to the gas station. We asked her what the deal was? and w/ no plausable explanation. After a bunch of lame excuses, we requested that she replace the battery with a new one. After being very reluctant, she finally caved in and told us to bring the car back to the service dept. the following week, and they should have the work order there, since the service dept. was closed already. She then says that the second key and key fob was in the service dept. and would also have to be sent to us by mail after they reopen. On the following week, I go in to change the battery, the service dept. tells me they know nothing about the request for the new battery and there was nothing they could do. I got pissed, and they magically find the paperwork for the order request, and change the battery. I also find out that they had to order a new key fob, and they stamped out a new key. The key fob had to be shipped, they got the wrong address. When they filled out the paperwork for the title, they incorrectly entered the address in the computer but said it would be corrected. We recently received it in the mail and it wasnt. Overall, there was a nonchalance exhibited by all the people at that dealership. Antagonistic service dept. and lack of attention to detail. The sales manager later told me "that car may have been on the showroom for about a week at the most". Either way, someone was being dishonest or misleading just to sell the car. Overall the car itself has been fine, but the experience in purchasing was something that I have never heard of. I had to go out of my way to buy a car that normally should have been the other way around. I went to the service dept. to get the key fob recoded at another dealership (dont want to bias this email by naming another dealership), and it was like night and day.

After a great deal of research I found that I like the mdx with navi and res the best of all the suvs I researched. However, after I read this forum I don't know what to think of the reliability of the mdx. Consumer reports gives a red half circle (the second to best rating) for the mdx, but all of the issues outlined here in this forum make me take pause. I have owned 3 cars, most recently a toyota 4runner with nearly zero problems in the six years I have had it. I am looking to get out of the 4 runner before it gets old/problem prone, but I now wonder if I would actually have less trouble in the next couple of years with my 6 year old toyota vs. a new mdx. Any thoughts would be appreciated. :confuse:

I just bought an 05 MDX Touring with Navigation at Cerritos Acura which is about 30 min south of LA in California. I'm in the SF bay area and it was worth the flight down and the drive back. I tried to buy in the bay area but either the dealer didn't have the color I wanted (most of them, this was the case) or tried the sleaziest bait and switch tactics I've north of the Golden Gate bridge. Don't get me started on that one. To say you have the car and then don't but will get it or offer a model with 6,000 miles on it as new doesn't cut it. Anyway, Cerritos Acura is totally professional and a class outfit. My salesman picked me up at the airport, stayed with me for about 5 hours attentive to every question and concern. Explained everything. Everyone was friendly, no pressure, no games and I got a great price....$36550 before tax and fees. Free wheel locks too. They still have about 10 more on the lot plus about 10 of the new '06's which is the same vehicle aside from the interior trim and extended power train warranty. Very happy with these guys. They are big too, perhaps the largest Acura dealer in California. Hope this helps someone. :D

My lease is up on my Accord, which I love, and am moving into an SUV. Right now, the leading candidate is the 06 MDX Touring w/ Nav. My only concern is exterior. I am not wild about the look plus I hear the '07 will be dramatically re-styled. Since my work will lease the car for me, I am in it for at least 3 years with a lease. My commute is about to change to about an hour each way (thankfully they pay for the gas) and I want something comfortable, with some toys, works for family (right now wife, 5 year old, 60 lb dog, and hopefully another child soon), and safe in New England winters. Question: do I go with the MDX even if the look will be really old in a year or the RX330 (classy look inside/out and nice ride but a bit boring) or XC90 (questionable track record, not sure about the ride)? Welcome any thoughts. Thanks.

I read somewhere on this form that Acura is offering $1500 rebate to dealer
Does anyone know how long its valid and if it applies only to 2005 models? Or does it apply to 2006 also (less likely)? Thanks!
  • howehowe Member Posts: 22
The incentive is only for 05 models and runs out Oct. 31st. However, they've extended it a couple of times before since September. The 06's will be business as usual again, fighting between invoice and MSRP until the 07's get close to comming out next Fall. ;)

I am currently looking to purchase a 05 MDX premium model. Has anybody purchased one lately and what type of price did you get at either Radley or Pohanka? Would you recommend one over the other? I am also considering the touring if anybody has purchased one.

    Thank you! :)

    Sri1,

If you would kindly email me your overall experience with your purchase from Davis I would greatly appreciate your help? I was going to contact them until I saw your post here. I saw they have few 05 from their website. I am within minutes from Davis on Rt. 1. I would like to know if they fix your noise problem and the name of the salesperson.

    Thanks.

Overall experience is ok. Once the sale is done sales person is not in the picture. I test drove other MDX on the lot and they all seem to have the same noise factor to some degree. Since there is no apparent mechanical problem I did not make a big issue. Hope this helps

    Thanks. The info was helpful.

How many other dealerships did you visit? Why Davis?

BTW, we still love driving our MDX(03). This purchase is for our parents.
