Guess it depends on how far out on the island you are and how far you are willing to drive. Recently bought the EXL in Old Bridge NJ for $26,931 plus destination, TTL & Reg. Would think that the EX (without leather) would go for less as well.

I was just quoted $29.342 for the EX-L with Nav. I need to add tax, tags and $515 destination fee. That sounds like a great price to me. Had anyone seen anything better than this recently?

I bought a 2005 Pilot EXL with Navi at Honda of Bowie in MD back in May. Paid about 30,500 - not exact on that. Out the door was 32,000. Came with mud guards, wheel locks and pin stripes. Missed the 1,000 incentive, but got the low interest rate of 2.9%. Payments are about $580 a month. Hope that helps! Bought a ton of accessories (about 1,400 worth) from cheaphondaparts.com, which is a Honda dealer in California. Great prices on accessories! $20 to have all of it shipped and paid no tax!

    djc2,

I just read some of your earlier posts and felt compelled to put in my .02.
What you went through on your dealership visit is exactly the reason why people are going internet...that type of situation is a dying breed but it obviously still exist.
I don't know exactly where in Nevada you live but you should put in some internet quotes to dealers in a 200-250 mile range and you would be amazed on how much money you can save...if you are a close drive or plane hop to Central California i.e. the bay area you may want to check them out...now I know what you are saying...why do we have to go so far to get a good deal? I'm afraid there is no easy answer to that...except to say....how much money do I want to save by going out of my immediate area? case in point....I drove 200 miles to save over $1300 dollars on my deal....it was a nice pleasant road trip...not to long...made a day out of it....it was great...I know Las Vegas is about 350 miles from San Diego but the best deals that I have seen on this board are coming from two places in this country...and that is either NJ or Cali...more specifically the bay area...
If it was me...go back through this board and look at the posts that are coming in from the bay area...rock bottom pricing! To me...if I had a trade I would drive to get a great deal...if you have no trade...a quick hop on Southwest ($50 one way) and your in the bay area....would I do this to save $100 bucks...no way! would I do this to save $1000/2000/3000 bucks...you bet...but that's me...do the internet quote thing...put contact by email only...and if they call you...don't respond unless they give you a rock bottom price...if you send out 10 internet quotes...about 7 will be valid...the other 3 will be bogus and you just have to weed those out...
Good luck...be patient...your the boss, you have the $$$ and they want your business....now is the time to buy...prices are low, but inventory is running out as well...good luck!!! let us know what happens!!
    Happy Motoring!!!

Open Road Honda, in Edison NJ. You can go online and just do an internet quote. They will send that price right to your e-mail. Hope that helps.

The sales climate for SUVs has become quite tough in 2005. With the domestic manufacturers offering employee discounts, Nissan, Toyota and Honda have stepped up the discounts/incentives.

Honda is offering a new $1,800 "incentive" to all dealers for EX and higher trim models. The dealer will deny this since this is not public knowledge. When you negotiate be firm and demand that the dealer give you a portion of this "incentive".

The Pilot is facing healthy competition from Jeep, Nissan Pathfinder and in 6 monhts the newly designed Santa Fe. Shop around, be firm and you should get a good deal.

    Hello,

I thought the marketing incentive (factory to dealer incentive) is $1,000. When did this change, Edmunds still has it at $1,000.

Less than 30K for a Pilot with Nav is a great price - haven't seen a lower number here.

    Hi,

just a dumb question, does anyone know what steps involve in purchasing a car in NEW JERSEY, if you live In PENNSYLVANIA? Thanks

I just got a quote in FL for $29,700 with Navi. Any one done better in the Miami area? Not sure if the price includes destination or not, I asked and am waiting for a response.

Looking to purchase EX-L. Went to 1 dealership to test drive and look at colors and interiors. Got a quote of $30,850. I am a little discouraged after seeing quotes coming out of Calif. and the NY. I was hoping I could drive away for base price of $27,000, is that possible??? Any guidance from someone this way down south. I am total novice and feel very intimidated by the process.

you go there and buy it, then you have to go to the DMV in Pennsy to register it and pay all the taxes.

No prob. Just watch those fees at the NJ dealership to make sure they don't "accidentally" charge you for NJ DMV fees and/or registration, etc.

I was near the Eastern Shore of MD this week and saw an ad for Pohankin that said they were doing "employee discounts." I just emailed them about an EXL w/ ENT. We'll see what they do.

I would stay away from San Leandro Honda. I went there after reading this post and it was a very bad experience. I Have not been to such a bad dealer since I was in the Army trying to buy a car at the car dealer right outside the gate. They tried to pull all
the tricks, Low ball quote to get you in, under value your trade etc. Stay away, you have been warned.

I live in South Florida. I have been dealing with several ineternet managers and getting quotes. Seems like all of them are coming in right around the same price. $0 out of pocket costs, and $385/36 mths/12k miles. Has anyone gotten anything better lately?

Also, I know the 2006 are due to arrive in September. I don't absolutely need my car right now. I could wait a few weeks. Do you think they will have better deals in August, in preparation for the 2006s? Once the 2006 come out will all the incentives and good deals shift to the 2006s in September, and will I still be able to get a good deal on the 2005?

I'm so afraid to buy right now, only to have the price go down in the next month or two. but then again, I'm afraid they won't extend this same offer to me because all the deals will shift focus to the 2006.

Do you think I should wait? Do you think I could get a better deal next mont, or in Sept, or at the very least the same deal? I just would hate to miss the deal to only have it go up, but then again what if it goes down. ARGHHH!!! :confuse: What would you do?

Thank you so much for your advice. :)

I just let my answering machine take the calls. I screened them with my caller id.

Of course, there would be no discounts/rebates/incentives for Pilot 2006 in this year. You should get 2005 much cheaper in Dec.

Today, a Honda dealer near Philadelphia offered me the following:

    2005 Pilot EX-L
    + Running boards
    + Cross bars
    + Wheel Locks
    + Mud Guards
    + Cargo Tray
    + Tag
    + TAX 6%
    ----------------------
    $30,000.00

How good is that? Should I go for it?
Must have the car by early August otherwise would wait for cheaper deals.
    Thanks.
  • atanneratanner Member Posts: 13
How much was the end price + Tag + Tax = ?
And when did you buy it?
  • lucky03lucky03 Member Posts: 5
There is no cheaper deal. Go for it!!!!! How many miles on the car? Was this a demo?
  • atanneratanner Member Posts: 13
It's a new car with 2 miles on it. Should I wait another two weeks?

Tough decision. In another week and a half we will see the pressure of the end of the month to make the deals. But this is already a great deal, beat mine! If you wait too long the one you want may be sold and 05 supplies have to be getting lower as the 06s will come out soon (Sept??)

I was offered the following by a dealer in Illinois.
    EX with Leather and DVD
    Mud guards and wheel locks

    $500 due at signing

Just wanted to thank everyone for the information on prices paid. Found this information to be much better and up to date compared to the Edmunds TMV pricing. I purchased 2005 EX-L Steel Blue on Friday. It came with an already installed dealer appearance package which was basically mud flaps, wheel and door edge molding, pinstripes and wheel locks. The purchase price was $27,806 which included said appearance package and destination.

I am now on a search for a DVD system to be installed. I went to Best Buy today and their installers said they could not install a roof mounted system. Has anyone else had a dvd system installed aftermarket in which they can recommend system and store/chain who installed it?

    :)

    Hello,

we all know that lease monthly payment depends upon:
    a)purchase price - set by a dealer;
    b) residual value -set by a bank
    c) money factor - set by a bank.
These days there are offers to buy "nearly new" cars with ~ 200 miles for the price
    ~ $26,000 vs "brand new" $30,000.
However, both parameters b) and c) are the same.
Total lease amount falls down to $6000 instead off 10000.

    Here is my question:
does that mean that I can get MUCH better lease deal on "nearly new" vs "brand new"? What if a dealer's is willing to SELL the car to ME at $26000, but is looking for $30000 from the bank if I need to lease?

I bought my Sage EXL end of June:

    $26,931 -
    1,516 - Tax
    100 - Doc Fee
    515 - Dest
    322 - NJ DMV
    29,484 - Total OTD

That was when there was $1,000 incentive from Honda to the Dealer out there. Not sure what is there now. (Heard that it might be more now)

Bottom line is it only takes a few minutes of your time to go to the Honda website and request a quote. The two most competitive dealers I dealt with were Academy Honda (Old Bridge NJ) and Honda of Essex (West Caldwell NJ)

Can you tell me where in N. VA you were able to get this price? Only comparable price I've been able to find is in PA, and would prefer to buy locally.... Thanks!

After I put a deposit down for a EX . The dealer call me that he got the car for me but the car got 100 miles on it. I refused the car because I think a car with 100 miles on it should consider a used car. But he insisted it is a new car but just came from a lot much further. do you think so?
  • jdduhon1jdduhon1 Member Posts: 2
Anyone recently made a purchase in the VA Beach area? Best deal I've been able to get so far is $30K + TTL for EX-L with RES. That seems a bit high compared to some of the posts I've seen. I started out getting quotes off the net and then went from there and the salespeople act like I'm crazy when I want them to come down on the price (not real surprising). Seems like a lot of people have been getting pretty good deals so I'm just curious if it's the area.

......sounds like a good deal to me. Don't believe everything you read... :)
  • butchbr73butchbr73 Member Posts: 325
....100 miles and you think its used? no, really, let's be realistic. 100 miles is nothing in the scheme of things. Has it been titled?

Ok, you call it used, what price do you consider used? $.50/mile driven? 100 miles x $.50 = $50.00. Take $50 bucks off the price.... is that reasonable?

In the scheme of things, 100 miles or 10 miles or 50 miles, not going to matter 5 years from now whether it has 75,000 miles or 75,100 miles or 75,050 miles....
  • mldj98mldj98 Member Posts: 378
    Mosie,

Most incentive deals and leases are good until 9/6/05...and that is because right around that time is when the 06's will be loaded on trucks for delivery...
So you know what they say...move your feet, loose your seat....
The latest I would wait would be until the end of this month...but as you can tell from this websites, the vehicles are flying off the lots at a record pace....your deal already sounds fair....you might get a couple hundred bucks off at the end of the month....but the longer you wait...the less selection....
roll the dice...I can tell you that when the 06's come out...all bets are off for incentives and record deals....and why should they continue....it's a new model year...

Thanks for the info. Went to Leith but they wouldn't meet our price. Then they tried to sell us a demo with 6,000 miles and a ton of dealer add ons that I refused to pay for. And they wanted more for that car than for one with no miles. The guy made me so mad I walked out. Left my husband in there trying to get his car keys back! Of course Leith called the next day trying to get our business. We told them to work up a number on the demo. They never called us back. Didn't matter - we were already at Boyd Honda in Oxford picking up our new Pilot. Got EXL RES with running boards for $30,100 (incl. dest.) plus tax & tags. They're doc fee was half of Leith. I feel good about what we paid. THis board helped a lot. The guy at Boyd was GREAT to work with. Leith just made me so made - playing the typical role of keeping you at the dealership for 3 hours. I was disappointed that our salesperson did not know that Sagebrush only came with grey interior. He drove us all around the back lot looking for a Sagebrush Pilot with tan interior and it doesn't even come that way! As a salesperson he should know his product! And I don't understand why he could'nt just check inventory in their computer. We went with Redrock Pearl so we could have the tan interior. Leith said the only one they had was the demo. But in the end, Boyd did a switch with guess who - Leith! to get us the car we wanted.

Can anybody tell me what the actual dealer cost is on this car. Of course there is the invoice price. But some dealers sell the car under invoice, including the $1,000 rebate. If they are selling the car hundreds below there invoice price, how much are they actually getting for the car. Is there any rhyme or reason to the price of a car. What does the dealer make on a sale of a pilot?

Sorry to hear you had the problems you had. Did you go to the Internet Manager or a salesperson?
  • ckrineckrine Member Posts: 3
I took delivery of it with 59 miles on it.

I purchased from Hendrick Honda in Woodbridge. I could not get as good a deal on one with RES. They say there is smaller supply and more demand for RES equipped Pilots. They were one of the Edmunds pop up quotes when I was researching Pilots. College Park Honda was pretty close and may have matched them if I put more effort in to it.

Help... After looking up invoice pricing for an EX then coming to this forum, I am totally confused as to what price I should pay for an EX. Invoice is coming up around 27,600 but I have seen many who have claimed to pay in the 26+ range including dest. charge. Can someone give me a decent range for an EX in CT?
I noticed they have %1000 dealer-manu. incentive and 3.99% financing available until beginning of Aug.

Im out to buy one this week and need to get my figures straight before I go to the sharks.

    Hi,

I lived in Framingham, MA and paid $27,500 for an 05 Pilot EX-L. Two dealers were willing to offer that price. Not sure if you're looking at the EX or EX-L but it may be worth the drive.

    Good Luck!

    Hi,

I paid $27,500 in Massachusetts in June for an EX-L. I saw an earlier post where they paid $26,900. Two dealers offered me the same price. I definitely think you should be able to get the price.

    Good Luck!
