    Hey:

Did your deal go through? If so, what dealer is handing out the good deals? I did notice that Honda of Lisle has a lot of Pilots they are "clearing out" to make room for the '06's.

    Thanks

Everyday I still come to this board to check deals that are going down. Some times a great deal just happens !! Maybe a dealer "mistake" or maybe you get lucky. We were fortunate to get a great deal almost 2 months ago.Check post 4109.(read the 15 or so posts that followed) The reason I haven't posted on this specific board till today was because our salesman called me and asked that I not give out anymore information on my deal. He was getting calls from all over the world.
    Good luck !!

Let me clarify a few things:

    1) No, I didn't have a trade-in that reduced the out-the-door price I have to pay

    2) The only deposit I have paid is $500 which is to be applied towards the purchase price i.e. Its not $500 over and above the purchase price. I have left a credit card number as the deposit because the dealer has to do a dealer-trade to get the color I want.

Finally, I know this appears too good to be true and remain quite skeptical myself. That's why I am keeping my fingers crossed that when I take delivery its going to be a smooth transaction with no surprises. I should learn more about that this week. I will keep you guys informed.

We had no trade in either.
    That's what I 'm saying you have a good deal !!

Thanks everyone for all the advice. I just drove home in a new 2005 Pilot EX-L, Blue Steel Metallic.

    Selling price - 27,500
    Freight - 515
    Processing fee - 289
    Taxes, Tags...

I sent emails to 8 dealers all over metro DC and got responses from every one of them. I picked the best quote from the bunch and called my preferred dealer (the closest one) and asked him to match it. By the time I got to the dealership, the car was washed and ready to go. I can't imagine ever going back to buying a car the old fashioned way.

I was all set to buy the car, but I noticed these great lease deals that Honda is currently offering. With the price I neogtiated, I managed to get a 3 year lease, with 15000 annual mileage allowance and minimum "down" for $270/month. I realize a lease is not for everyone, but it worked out great for my situation.

    1. CarsDirect EX-L quote is 28,688 (before tax and all). My local dealer (Autowest Honda) says they would match it. Do you guys think this is good deal?
    2. VSA and Sunroof are the 2 items that I value in ex-l over ex. Do you guys think it makes sense?

    Congrat..
I got the same thing over the weekend EX-L in Silver

28200.00 (including shipping, 4 mud guards, pin strip, wheel locks)
    + tax+tag+pro. fee

I guess 28K is the going prices for No. Va.
  • paglapagla Member Posts: 11
I saw people getting great deals here. However in Sacramanto (CA) area the lowest price I am getting actually carsdirect ... 28,688 (their financing) or 28,988(own finance). This includes base + destination charges. I see that around $700 below invoice ... and I think dealers are ready for that because Honda is giving 1K to dealers.
As I am a relatively novice car buyer ... are we suppose to get that 1K below invoice through bargaining?
Even then it doesn't go to the prices that were mentioned here /...
    Am I missing something here?
Can anybody point me to a good dealership which is ready to make deals ?

Congratulations! May I ask what your minimum "down" payment was? Thanks.

A salesman looked at me like I was crazy. Maybe EX's are selling for more in Central Texas or something. He said the TMV price is what the market is.

$27,600 for an EXL in Oregon? Wow. Will you buy me one and come visit me in Texas? :)
  • hondaguy6hondaguy6 Member Posts: 8
Here in NJ I was just offered $25,997 for and Ex which includes destination, mud flaps, wheel locks and cargo mat. I was also offered $28,290 for an Ex-L which includes destination, mud flaps, wheel locks and cargo mat.

Do I grab it or keep looking? Already had a few dealers bail out. one told me I would never get below $28K for a plain EX. Told him he needs to wake up and look at the pricing going on out there.

These seems like good deals to me as I paid $28K for my 1998 Mitsubishi Montero Sport.
  • pakyapakya Member Posts: 7
    EX was offered 26k OTD : 25782 ( incl destn) +218 ( OR DMV 4 yr)
  • hondaguy6hondaguy6 Member Posts: 8
What state did you get that in? Any thought of waiting for the 06's?
  • pakyapakya Member Posts: 7
Oregon - looks like 06's are going to come soon and they want to liquidate old 05's -
  • hondaguy6hondaguy6 Member Posts: 8
Guess they'll crank up the prices on the 06's. I gues I should just grab the 05. The fact there is no side curtain airbag bugs me though. I think it;s a good feature to have, since my wife will be driving my kids in it mostly. By 2002 Acura TL doesn't have them either. That's the only that bothers me about Honda. They always come along after the competition does.

Can you tell me which dealer this was? Thanks....
  • bayskybaysky Member Posts: 5
Looks like the price is not going down, instead it's going up a bit since July 4th.
As I mentioned earlier I got the deal for a EX-L for $27700 include destination with 2.9% finance for 48 month.
I am pretty sure I can buy you one at this price wmdffl :) Btw, this is price for bayarea, CA. That means we have 8.75% sales tax! That's killing the deal for sure.

I just purchased an EXL with DVD and running boards and full tint for total price of 28,800 here in AZ. I called the fleet manager, told him what I wanted, he emailed me a quote and listed all stock numbers. He offered to deliver a vehicle to my house for a test drive (45 miles away!). It arrived next morning, I drove it but discovered the AVS system was out of whack. I called, they brought out another vehicle, it was great! The next day he sent me a purchase order the next day. I went to the bank, picked up a check, drove to the dealer, and was out in less than an hour. I love my Pilot and my deal!:D

I just got my EX for 26.5 plus tax and tags here in CT. CarsDirect hooked me up.
I took that price to 4 dealers and they couldnt even come close. The best was about $500 off what I could get. The service has been incredible with them and so has been beating up the dealers. I see some great deals in other states but in CT, Im very happy with what I got. My buddy just got the EX-L here in CT same process for 28.5 plus tax and tags.

    Good luck!

We feel we got a great deal on our Steel Blue Honda Pilot in New Jersey. My husband got me a EX for 26,090 (includes destination). No trade-in.They gave us the mats, cargo mat and wheel locks and mud flaps. It is our first Honda and we love it. The price does not include tax and tags. it had 18 miles on it. the plastic was still on it. Hope this helps! :)

    Hello baysky,

I contacted San Leandro Honda internet dept. They don't have the EX-L Pilot in silver, but they are getting one. They also gave me a very good price, but nothing has been officially. Did you have any problems there. Were they honest with you.

I am undecided with the EX-L or the EX. Some of the best prices on the cloth EX were from the N. Bay Dealers.

I think you are right about the prices. Beginning of the month, prices tend to go up. Maybe this weekend the pricing will be better?
  • sagebrushpearlsagebrushpearl Member Posts: 2
It was essentially the number quoted on Honda's web site plus tax and tags in VA, which came out to be a little over 4K.
  • nwpilotnwpilot Member Posts: 15
Nice deal! Would you mind telling me from which Oregon dealer you purchased your EX-L?

    Thanks!
  • mach7mach7 Member Posts: 7
I would stay away from San Leandro Honda. I went there after reading this post and it was a very bad experience. I Have not been to such a bad dealer since I was in the Army trying to buy a car at the car dealer right outside the gate. They tried to pull all
the tricks, Low ball quote to get you in, under value your trade etc. Stay away, you have been warned.
  • hondaguy6hondaguy6 Member Posts: 8
I was offered the same vehicle for $25,997 here in NJ. The price included mud flaps, wheel locks and cargo liner.
  • hondaguy6hondaguy6 Member Posts: 8
What dealer in NJ was it?
  • tinatinatinatina Member Posts: 388
Thanks for the tip. Did you buy elsewhere? If so, which dealership. I will probably go with one of the North Bay dealerships.
  • phillyirishphillyirish Member Posts: 1
I had problems with VSA as well on my 05 ex-l. Dealer serviced (bled the brakes) and returned vehicle. My Pilot still feels like it decelerates on its own - traveling at 40+ and just lifting foot off the pedal and the car immediatedly slows, like I was on the brake. I have less than 2k miles and wondering if anyone has suggestions / experience.
  • difilipodifilipo Member Posts: 2
I am also looking for a pilot in No VA. What dealership did you buy from?
  • difilipodifilipo Member Posts: 2
What No VA dealer did you buy from? I'm in the market for a pilot.

QUOTE "Sorry for your Leith experience. Here at Crown in the Internet Department, the price of the Pilot EX-L RES is 29,756 (including Dest)."

Well I guess the Internet Dept is offering much better deals than in person because Crown Chapel Hill was one of the few I went by in person and I was offered $700 below MRSP and $1000 less on my trade than Car Max! I did go through the Internet Dept and an EX-L was $29,188.00 including destination which put Crown at #10 of 20. It sounds like the person that got offered the Demo at Leith went in person rather than using the Internet. No dealer I visited in person had a competitive offer. I would NEVER visit a dealer to negotiate again. I never saw my salesperson until I walked in with the check.

As of the end of June when I bought mine, I had the following prices on an EX-L, all including the $515 destination. (Almost all dealers quoted with dest included but you need to be clear on that anyways.) None include Tax, Title or Doc fes since that varies so much.

    1. Leith Honda - Raleigh - $28,385.00
    2. Hendrick Honda - Woodbridge VA - $28,806.00
    3. Burlington Honda - Burlington NC - $30159.00 (Didn't give a breakdown but this one is OTD which was still #3)
    4. Hendrick Honda - Easley SC = $28,995.00
    5. Hendricks Honda - Charlotte NC - $28,975.00 (Doc fees were a little higher than Easley)

All of these top five were professional, competent and had my respect and trust. Depending upon price offered and distance, I would buy from any of them.

what dealer did you get the car from?
  • paglapagla Member Posts: 11
Interesting ... I recieved a call from them ... quoting EX-L for 28.2 incl dest (30.6 out of the door).
I shall try get it matched from my local dealer before I go there ...
  • sportymonksportymonk Member Posts: 258
This may be more appropriate to the Problems board but to address what you feel, it may be related to what you just quit driving. I had an 01 Impala that when you took your foot off the gas, it would continue on without slowing down hardly at all for a long time. Wife hated it. Son couldn't get used to it either. When I bought my Pilot, I notice dthat when I took my foot off the gas it slowed down! Don't know how severe you problem is but I would take it to the dealer and let them look and ask to test drive one or two others as a comparison.

we bought our Steel Blue Pilot in Burlington, NJ on rt 130. The honda dealership is Willis. Sorry we cannot list salesman name. site suggest not giving their name.
  • zen76zen76 Member Posts: 12
How much should i pay for a honda pilot EX-L? I tried to get a few quotes, but none of them are below 27K. Some people have bought it for $26.5K as i see on the posts, but i could not get a matching quote from the same dealrship (the dealer they mentioned was in PA). So can someone tell me what should be a reasonable price on a Honda Pilot EX with leather.
  • wmdfflwmdffl Member Posts: 6
The average for EXL mentioned in these posts is $28,200 although I don't think I could get that low here in Texas.
  • dgissel_98dgissel_98 Member Posts: 16
EXL for 26,100?, Can you give the dealership, Talked to a couple yesterday about the post and they laughed at me. sounds to good to be legit.

    Thanks
  • rossignolsrossignols Member Posts: 12
Bought an EX-L from Academy Honda in Old Bridge NJ end of June. Price was $27,400 including dest. From what I have read, several others closed deals with Academy in the same general range.
  • paglapagla Member Posts: 11
best I got so far in Bay Area is 28.2 (30.6 out of the door)
  • lucky03lucky03 Member Posts: 5
Shopping in DFW area no one wanted to talk discounts. Only one dealer admitted there was a $1,000 marketing discount that was given to dealers and he was giving me $1,000 off invoice. No one else would admit or offered. Go to Bankston Honda in Lewisville outside Dallas or contact their internet dept.
  • paglapagla Member Posts: 11
Dude ... They are giving best deals ... I am trying to get that matched by my local Honda dealer
  • hdffrhdffr Member Posts: 13
I'm interested in getting a 05 EX as the 06 doesn't look much different or a drastic improvement over the 05. I was given a internet quote of 25,193 plus the normal fees. Should I wait until the end of August/September when the 06's are out or go for this deal now???.
  • bayskybaysky Member Posts: 5
    Hi Tina,
I don't bad experience with San Leandro Honda. As long as you are dealing with internet manager I guess all dealership are same. Because there's really no much room to play for them. Negociate a good deal before go to the dealership and stick with it.
I am sorry mach7 had bad experience with them but it's actually their lose if they don't treat you right.
  • pakyapakya Member Posts: 7
Does this 25193.00 includes destn. ?
  • hdffrhdffr Member Posts: 13
No , destination, taxes, doc fee's, and registration are extra. I'm thinking of waiting a little longer until the 06' are out to get the best possible deal.
  • pakyapakya Member Posts: 7
EX was offered to me at 26000.00 OTD :

Break up was 25782 ( includes destn etc.) + only 218 for DMV ( ORegon ) This price was amongst one of the lowest I could see in this forum.
  • nwpilotnwpilot Member Posts: 15
Payka, do you mind sharing the name of the dealership in Oregon? Thanks!
  • steven17steven17 Member Posts: 4
I would say that is a great price, but you may want to hold out for a few more weeks to see if they get stuck with inventory, before the 2006 begin to arrive.
What dealer offered you that deal.
